A nostalgic side scrolling rpg. Beautiful, simply beautiful artwork that will leave you wanting more. It had length, a nice storyline, inspiring characters, unique bosses, and an excellent trove of abilities and passive abilities. I am a sucker for level up rpgs myself. One minor downfall was that, in my opinion, it was not as challenging as I had hoped. Wonderful job Lunar Ray Games! AA nostalgic side scrolling rpg. Pros:
    Beautiful pixel art.
Good story. Fun combat. Great OST. New Game + adds replayability Fun boss fights Extremely accessible to all players of all skill levels. Cons: Can beat it in 4-6 hours. Exploration is basic. You can't play it at 16:9 for some reason. This is an example of a great indie game that didn’t get as much love as it should’ve. On one hand, the story is

This is an example of a great indie game that didn’t get as much love as it should’ve. On one hand, the story is interesting, keeps you engaged and while it is a good time travel story, it’s no Chrono Trigger or Back to the Future but it does remain interesting, without being too over the top and convoluted. It has reasonable goals. The characters are interesting and while not entirely fleshed out, the side quests do help. The antagonists are pretty one dimensional but then again, they do the job.

The combat is fast paced and fun. If you’re not good at games and just want to play it for the story it has an easy mode which makes it impossible to die. It also has harder difficulties for those that want that. Combine that with a great OST and a New Game + you get a nice indie game for only 20 USD.

The only real negative is that you could easily beat this in one sitting if you have 4-6 hours to spare. It’s not long at all and that’s if you do everything. It does have New Game + so I personally feel it’s worthy of at least two play throughs. All and all, it’s not perfect but it is a fun experience and I fully recommend it if you like time travel and metroidvania’s.

A sweet metroidvania game and it hasn't a very cool upgrade system and has pets and a good story

Really fun game, one of my favorite Metroidvanias and indie games of this gen. The game is not afraid to admit that it is heavily influence by Castlevania Symphony of the Night, which is one of my favorite games. This game also features a cool combat system, with weapons that do different types of elemental damage and effects. The story is relatively interesting, nothing too compelling but I don't mind this with Metroidvanias.

The game features a time stopping ability, which is criticized by reviewers and others for not being used enough. It isn't used for many encounters or puzzles, but I personally do not mind this. The game is also a bit short, only took me a few hours.

Overall, I would highly recommend to any metroidvania fan, and essential for any SotN fans.

Solid old school 2-D game akin to Castlevania Symphony of the Night. Timespinner is still somewhat unique from anything I’ve played previously. You have the ability to freeze time for short intervals helping you to navigate through the game by jumping off of enemies or freezing moving obstacles in place. I actually really like the orbs you equip as your weapons & there’s a time traveling aspect as well. You can even take a little pet of your choosing along with you for the ride. The protagonist gets stronger and stronger as you progress and you’ll be able to revisit previously unreachable areas. I was surprised by how much fun I was having with this simple game inspired by old 16-bit classics. The musical score is pretty good and I have no complaints regarding the controls at all. Expand

The game is an excellent metroidvania. All the more frustrating, with all those crowdfunded scams roaming around, that at some point one has to ask 'Where is the rest of the game ?' A LOT of orbs (weapons) that can be grinded to insane damage for no reason. Gimme two or three passive slots then instead of one, it wouldve made the game more enjoyable for the same insane overpower. So anyway, in the end it's the same range of crowdfunded indie allplatforms scams, with the bare minimum promised. Except the game is good. Just 1/10 of what it should be to compete with sotn Expand

With quality platforming, you should definitely give this time-twisting adventure a spin. [Issue#336, p.71]

It's plain to see I adored my time with Timespinner. Its little niggles couldn't prevent me from going back to New Game Plus, or even experimenting with the level cap mode or higher difficulties. I stopped everything for Timespinner and in return I was rewarded with tight gameplay, a rich, beautiful world and all the queer representation I've ever wanted.

Timespinner is good callback to the 90s and games that inspired it. It has some solid combat, decent exploration, and a great soundtrack. The story and side quests are a bit dull, and the time mechanic never delivers on its potential, but it’s still an enjoyable adventure overall.
