The best story I've ever seen in a game and it rivals even Lord of the Rings for books and movies. It has amazing graphics, and continues to impress as you crank it to 1600p and ultra everything.

The most innovative and intriguing thing about the game is that decisions you make matter (without a simple good/evil bar), and often you will not know the extent of your decisions for hours or even tens of hours (none of this "so and so will remember that" from Telltale games and none of the simple and obvious good/bad choices of almost every other game ever.

It also has fantastic setting and lore, which pays lots of fan service to Witcher 2 fans (like me) but is absolutely accessible to people who never played either other game (like my wife). Finally, it is just plain ridiculously fun and never got old even after 135 hours.

Yes, it is a bit clunky to control (but only out of combat), the swimming is atrociously bad, the inventory cannot be sorted, and some other minor issues as well. But when you absolutely nail every other part of your game, it just doesn't matter.

Only flaw would be the ending left something to be desired, it wasn't bad but not very memorable either. Either way, the game is a masterpiece. Gameplay, story, character development, graphics, and sound. It excels in every department. This year has been great for gaming (personally), Bloodborne, Batman AC, and now this, but Witcher 3 has slain them all. Expand

The Witcher 3 is currently the best game from this generation so far. An absolute masterpiece. Graphics are amazing, main story and side quests are amazing, soundtrack is amazing, gameplay and customization options are great. It has very few bugs but overall with 36 different endings this game is near perfection.

Witcher 3 is the continuation of the story for the Witcher series. You do not necessarily have to have played the first and second game to understand the story in Witcher 3; however it is recommended you have. Options are provided to allow dedicated fans to import their saved game data and new gamers to the series can use the defaulted world saves.

Witcher 3 is overall an excellent game and deserves many praises. High graphical fidelity (although lesser than what was displayed at E3), deep and meaningful storyline, great combat system, memorable characters and more. CD Projekt RED should pat themselves on the back for providing DLC's for free. Yes, you hear right; the DLC's we get are free and I am not talking about one or two DLC's. Thus far, they have released 14 free DLC's. CD Projekt RED sets an examine of how the gaming industry should be behaving when it comes to downloadable content.

The world is incredibly detailed and beautiful to explore - I took so many screenshots that I lost count. The human element is surprisingly realistic and they designers really nailed the savage brutal elements of a medieval society during wartime - It's kind of like being thrown into an interactive episode of Game of Thrones. Along the way you will interact with a rich tapestry of complex characters and your choices will affect the outcome of events in surprising and unexpected ways - I was blown away by this and it makes the game really rewarding.

The game play itself has a lot of depth and allows for plenty of customization as a good RPG should. The game features a dazzling array of crafting options for armor and weapons including some treasure hunts for special 'Witcher' gear; a deep alchemy component that allows you to create useful potions, bombs, and special monster decoctions; and a variety of skills and minor spells that you can select and develop as you gain experience. Part of what makes the game so fun is taking on an increasingly menacing variety of monsters to acquire the rare components needed to construct your upgrades.

The game even features a highly addictive meta-game within that will have you challenging every NPC you can and trekking all over the world to find rare additions to your collection.

My only very minor complaint is that the game is a bit easy especially on the lower difficulty levels. I am currently playing on Death March and mowing down opponents without much trouble (though I did die a lot on my first play through). The Witcher sense tracking aspect of the game could use a little refinement as it felt too linear and solving most quests mainly just involved finding enough glowing red clues until Geralt pieces things together for you. This was the only aspect of the game play that I felt to be a little lacking, but they pretty much knocked everything else out of the ballpark.

I will even go as far to say this is the best RPG I have ever played in quite a long time, cons about the game, some of the game mechanics could use a little work such is the way your character is able to move around, game mechanics could also use a little work in the way you are able to maneuver your horse. replay value on this game would definitely get a nine and a half because of how many times you can make the story end after you beat the game differently. so to sum up what I think of this game, if demons souls in fable had a baby, it would have been the Elder Scrolls, now if the Elder Scrolls and Dragon Age had a baby, it would definitely be the Witcher 3, that is how good this game ends, I highly recommend picking this game up, and enjoy. It has 4 minute fetch quests with more compelling story and interesting characters than the main story line of Skyrim.

There is a constant sense of exploration of wonder that actually manages to surprise you over and over again. Not since the days of Baldur's Gate II have I felt so consistently amazed at the places and things I encounter in an RPG.

And best of all, in the most positive sense of the expression: This is not a game for babies. There's racism, sex, cruelty, drugs, moral ambiguity, and more disturbing monsters than you've seen in any other game. You will not be coddled, your actions will have far reaching consequences -- many of them not immediately apparent, and if you walk into the wrong area and attack a the level 20 golem guarding a chest when you're at level 6, you're swiftly reduced to a blob of red paste in the forest floor.

The world design is incredible. It feels like a real world rather than a bunch of sewn-together set pieces. Not to mention the beautiful foliage. Makes Dragon Age III look like a golf course by comparison. The sound design also merits special mention. There's so much carefully crafted ambiance everywhere. Last but not least, the dynamic weather effects are beyond anything I have seen in a game to this date.

The whole game just oozes of the love CDPR put into it.

There are some minor warts, such as the controls which take a moment to get accustomed to, and the inventory interface isn't the most brilliant in the world, but they're barely worth mentioning.

12/10 - Game of the decade.

The Witcher 3's subject matter, its almost defiant doubling down on its treatment of women as titillating props for Geralt and the player, even as it tries to flesh out more female leads, is its most disappointing aspect. This constant presence weighs down what would otherwise be an excellent bit of closure for Geralt's video game saga — which isn't helped by the control issues that often detract from sequences meant to break up open-world monotony.
