Complete Edition of best game of this generation and probably the best game to date. Nothing more, nothing less. The Witcher 3 stands in class of its own, far above other AAA titles. I cant praise this game enough - absolutely every aspect of this game is excellent.

And finally the massive expansion Blood and Wine which acts as a perfect epilogue to not only to the Witcher 3, but to the video game series and the novels. With the completion of Blood and Wine, it's both rewarding, and feels like a true completion of the story that everything has been working towards. And also, even on release day of the Complete Edition, CD Project Red released a patch that fixes what glitches remained. As a result, the Complete Edition feels as though it's earned it's title as complete. If you're new to the series/game, this is an edition that will feel as money well spent and your curiosity may lead you to play previous installments and read the novels as it did for me, but also is a story that stands on it's own and feels complete. All the DLC First off, I'm not really a graphics snob and usually don't care much for that as long as the game design is good. However, this game simply blew me away. The level of detail in the world is astounding. I can only imagine how awesome this looks on a fast PC. This is simply the best looking game I've ever seen and I've played a hell of a lot of games. The attention to detail in the world building is top notch as well. I keep noticing little things here and there that just add so much life to the world. It's amazing from a visual standpoint. Like Skyrim times 10.

It wouldn't mean much though if the gameplay wasn't great, but here too the developers knocked it out of the park. It's fluid and fun with a lot of little nuances. Magic and melee and ranged combat all intertwine effortlessy and there are many crafting options to enhance your weapons and abilities. This is an RPG at heart and so you expect to see some kind of upgrade path. It's quite robust and the abilities you can earn are plentiful. I spent many a painstaking moment trying to decide if I want that damage boost or if I should pump up my magic. The possibilities are endless and you can really tailor the character to your prefered style.

Story. Well it's simply the best game storytelling wise I've ever played. Nuff said. I think this game is nearly perfect and you just don't see this type of product any more from a lot of the big name developers. A single player game that is complete and offers 200 hours or more of gameplay, amazing graphics, superb main story and side quests that matter. Polished to a perfect sheen. If you haven't played it, I recommend getting it right away. I don't really like giving out 10/10 perfect scores, but this game is worth it. I hope these developers continue in this fashion and can't wait to see their next game.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt beats it's rivals by managing to put together massive open-word, beautiful and very realistic graphics and just great story-telling both in main and side quests. Yes, in Witcher 3, in comparison to other games, every side quest feel like it's on a whole different level. The characters and their affairs are believable. Variety of quests is something that famous Skyrim lacked, but Witcher 3 delivered.

One thing that makes Witcher special is not just graphics, not just realistic graphics. It's artistic graphics, aesthetics is right on point - what point? It's hitting on medieval, colorful world, but still filled with shades of something evil. Medievalism is expressed by detailed armors, knights, weapons, fortresses, castles, market squares and harbors. But this is just general, it's even more visible when you actually dive in the world of The Witcher 3. There is a whole culture of the famous Witcher saga recreated in the game. From architecture to costumes of common folk and aristocracy, everything is beautifully crafted and highly detailed. To such notion of realism slowly approach the animation. Animation of The Witcher 3 is great, but if we want it to be believable in RPG it must focus on relationships, on humans. If you are starting a quest, there is difference between starting a quest by some random NPC and starting it by NPC which gives you feel of actually being *someone*. This is where face animations gets in. They are perfect in TW3. Even more recent and praised game like Horizon Zero Dawn which is partially inspired by TW3, is not as good. TW3 is a game where you go to realistic ( and artistic ) fancy dress ball where humans actually look like humans and act like them, where setting is almost theatrical in every regard.

While I've never imagined to focus on those aspects, I couldn't resign. Without it The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is not what it is. Game which, at least for me, arouses artistic feelings.

The gameplay - it's innovated, yet some simplifications in order to work on consoles were implemented. The core of it - combat which variety seems to outclass many other games, including previous parts of The Witcher franchise. The combat system is great, much better than other games of this type I played. It is not enough to hack an opponent with a sword, but the signs are also very useful (I use Quen and Igni), I used less of oil, but it has also been useful. Firecrackers, elixirs and crossbows - firecrackers are of course used to destroy monster nests, potions are useful in the fight against stronger opponents, and the crossbow will prove very useful on Skellige and, generally speaking, under water.

So the combat system is something that The Witcher 3 did well.

Combining with exceptional music it's reaching something that I've never dreamed of when I was a child, starting my life's adventure with games.

    Final verdict: 10/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Is this really game of the year 2015? I bought the complete edition to find out. I've never played a Witcher game before this.

    Good:
-Story is good. Although, it basically amounts to a wild goose chase.
-Most of the dialogue is good.
-some dialogue choices actually affect how some missions playout.
    -Good characters.
    -Some great scenes and missions.
-Fighting is fun. Gameplay is more or less Zelda without a shield.
-Good graphics. Although sometimes the textures can look like they're from a ps3.

The game seems really great at first but within a few hours the seams start to tear at the edges --

    Bad:
-My 3 main gripes are: 1) there aren't enough good puzzles. 2) All mission location are laid out in front of you 3) Most enemies can be defeated with attack & dodge.

-There were a few missions, like the garden, where you have to get rid of the werewolf. You had to figure out which channel to open in the waterway and then find a key to open a door later on. I wish there was more of that and be more complicated. Most of the puzzles are too easy to solve.
-Mission objectives are laid out for you on your mini-map. Just follow the yellow dot. How about forcing to user to look for and decipher clues as to certain mission locations. Like a key with a certain symbol. Oh I saw that symbol somewhere else. Maybe the key is for that. You know? Stuff like that.
-Most enemies and bosses can be beaten with simply standard attack & dodge. I barely had to use the oils or Witcher powers. It would've been much better to force the user to use oils and powers more often. -- All these things should be already planned out in the design stage if you're a good designer who objectively knows what should be done to have a good gameplay experience. Actually this game is YET another example of a game that values cut scenes/writing over gameplay. Look the gameplay is good, but it could've been so much better. It's not amazing. It didn't blow my mind. But gameplay is king. Always has been always will be. Gameplay, gameplay gameplay. 1st always.

-Bugs, bugs, bugs... A year and a half later and this game still suffers from ridiculous bugs. I.E.: unacceptable scaling bugs. Rats that kill you in 2 seconds. Are you kidding!? You can turn off enemy scaling temporarily but come on, man.
-Audio normalization or lack thereof. I want to be able to hear the dialogue clearly but I want the sound effects to be lower so that I don't wake the neighbors at night. So I put the effects volume down and turn the volume up on my TV. Still doesn't solve my problem. The volume of character voices outside of one on one conversations is still way higher. Why? And in certain scenes music will be louder than other times. I just want the damn audio normalized. I also encountered a couple of audio bugs where the sound effects stopped playing altogether until I reloaded. This is on 1.31.
-Lack of map markers. Not all markers for shops, etc, are visible on the world map. At a certain point map markers will stop appearing even for things like blacksmith which you've already visited in certain towns. WTF is that?
-Broken economic system. It's WAY too easy to become rich in this game. The economics don't seem to have been scaled properly. All they had to do was put like 50%-75% less loot everywhere. If you loot everything you can, after a while you'll be rich.
-Crafting is not really that necessary. You want to save most of the crafting stuff that doesn't weight anything, but the "other" loot you can pretty much sell all of it and you won't really have any money issues.
-The animations could be better. The gold standard for animations and lip syncing is L.A. Noire. Unfortunately, it may be a long time before we ever see that kind of quality ever again as that was an expensive process. Nonetheless the bar was set and is yet to be matched let alone surpassed.
-Motion blur and camera pan judder hurt my eyes. This drives me nuts. it's not as bad as other games but come on man. Seriously. This absolutely MUST be taken care of. And absolutely no chromatic aberration. That is deadly on my eyes.

The game is actually fun and the story good. Some missions I thought were great in fact. Game of the year? I guess. A sign of the times, though. What incentive is there for Cd Project Red or anyone else to release a more polished game?

It should be mentioned that there are nearly no bugs in this game which is praiseworthy in our times (Look at all the bug ridden EA and Bethesda games for comparison especially Fallout 76). The side activities are plentiful and interesting. You can hunt monster via contract, do many side quests for NPCs (which will often lie / trick you), explore the world for treasures (Weapons, armors, free skill points, receipts for alchemy etc), participate in horse races / fist fights or play Gwent. Gwent alone is so good that they made additional games for it (At least 2 up until now). The graphics are beautiful and the music is one of the best in video game history. I want to also mention that the DLC / Expansion are a welcome extension. You get a lot of play time out of it with even more interesting characters, stories and twists. For me this is a timeless classic which deserves all the praise and hundreds of game of the year awards. Expand

One of the best games i have played! This games keeps you interested from the first minute to the last.

    The story is epic.
The graphics are jaw dropping at times.
The fighting system is fluid and spectacular.
The side quests are equal to the story and some even better.
The world is beautiful and full of loot to find.

One last thing, buy this game, you will not regret it.

We all know why this game is great so I will only point out the cons.
-Bugs. Audio bugs, quest bugs, dying while not having fallen to the floor, all NPC's in Novigrad being nothing but clothes, eyes, mouths, and hair, on one occasion. etc.
-Fable 2 levels of crap character interaction when getting out of the water.
    -The story isn't terribly great.

At the beginning I felt like game introduction was slow and painful. Controls seemed not fluent and irritating. However, after hours of gameplay I definitely got used to it and understand how it works.

Despite that I didn't play or like RPG games, this one becomes my favorite, Even though that amount of resources, materials, weapons, etc. is huge.

Stories are interesting. Sometimes funny, or even hilarious.

GUI becomes little irritating in two matters:
    - some places extremely long load times (no, not from Save, but simply opening an inventory)
    - item descriptions are not shown immediately after pointing them. And there are plenty, and some look precisely the same as small icons.

GWENT is a really great addition to the main game. The better cards I have, the more pleasure is from a game.

Some fight ending sequences are interesting. Though, become very repetitive after a while, of course.

Faces. That's something that bothers me a little. There are so many different characters in the game that many get pretty much the same face, and eventually another clothing. Dejavu effect may be little bit irritating at times.
Children is a slightly different matter. They look like dwarfs. I mean small, adult people instead of having actual features of the child's face.
I loved pre-recorded scenes from games like The Last of Us or Uncharted. Here everything is generated dynamically with much worse effect, of course. But it may be excused knowing how much content game presents.

I cannot say that much about such a polished game.
Good gameplay, great length, graphically beautiful, a lot of mechanics (not all of them feel necessary and functional), good story, even the simplest mission brings something to The Witcher lore.
The extra stories in the DLCs vary; Blood & Wine is very good, but Hearts of Stone isn't as interesting, but it works. This piece left me

This game is one of the best game I've ever played. However, there are some things I absolutely disagree with.
    1. When an enemy is attacking you, you can't do anything: run, heal, or attack
    2. The minimap is absolutely horrible. Sometimes it's impossible seeing which way you're headed, especially with a quest marker right on the north position. I wish it had at least N, E, S, W 3. One

    3. One of my all-time pet peaves is that you cannot tell the level of an enemy. You actually have to get close to the enemy to tell the level which can sometimes be too late. If you're unlucky, it's a high lvl enemy that will 1-hit you. There should be some indicator when you're approaching a high lvl mob. For the undiscovered location markers, they should be color-coded so you won't have to worry about checking it out and get 1-shot.
    4. Unless you actually look on the large map, you can't tell where the end of the world is. There should at least be some kind of indicator when you're getting near the end of the world.

I do like the fact when you go off the end of the world, though, you can fast travel. I'm currently not doing much at the moment except checking out some of the undiscovered spots and some side quests/contracts etc, but so far it's been a pretty good game. So far the story line's been pretty good, and you won't have to spend too much money on weapons. If you know where to look, you can get some amazing gear.

One other thing I love...no shortage of quests. Even if you follow the main story line, you'll always run into side-quests to do.

The side quests and even some of the main quests have you make dialogue choices that affect not only the game but emotionally impacted and had me thinking for days. This game is simply perfect' the combat, the story-line,the atmospheric open world that never truly feels empty at some time backed behind the beautiful soundtrack. Sure it can get annoying when you're on your way to the next town and Geralt says "hmm, the winds howling" 15 times in the span on 8 minutes but the game overcompensate for all these little annoyances. The complete edition comes with the 2 dlc's "Blood and Wine" and 'Heart of stone" heart of stone can be a little boring but Blood and win really came in slapping. Overall this game is much better played than to be reading a review if you see the game on sale or the current price is in your budget for a new game then simply pick it up. You wont regret it. If you're reading this and you didn't buy the "Complete Edition", you will want to play through Hearts Of Stone and Blood & Wine to complete the entire story line. Stephen King loves a climax in the storyline about 80% of the way through then a looooong resolution. Same with this game/DLCs.

You're entering a different world where your decisions affect the story.

A small Polish studio shakes the gaming industry out of nowhere with the last installment of The Witcher series.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt tells a story that it's not only about killing monsters, but the bond of the relationships still exists. Overall, The Witcher 3 has one the most immersive stories in a WRPG up to date in my opinion.
The gameplay, while quite clunky, it feels satisfying.

The gameplay, while quite clunky, it feels satisfying. In combat, you can use 2 swords (Steel is more effective against humans while Silver is more effective against monsters), 5 different spells (Signs) and items for specific situations.
The RPG elements are not deep, but they're well executed. There is a fair amount of different equipment, perks and upgrades that can affect your gameplay.
The quest design is excellent for the most part! There are many memorable side-quests in this game.
The characters are wonderful and I didn't think I'd connect with them so much at times.
The dialogue is awesome! There are so many dialogue options and that's how a RPG should be.
Also, there's a lot of content in the game, especially with the expansions which are impressive by the way!
Lastly, the music is absolutely fantastic, the audio design is very good and the graphics are beautiful.
However, the handling, the animations and the pacing have issues.

    Pros:
    + Amazing storyline
    + Really great characters
    + Dialogue options
+ Tons of content & Expansions
    + Gorgeous visuals

    Cons:
    - Clumsy handling and animations
    - Story padding

    Gameplay: 6/10
    Content: 10/10

While not flawless, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a masterpiece nonetheless.
