For the first time in Telltale's history the studio choose to make a mini-series based on their biggest hit, The Walking Dead.

For this game we will focus on Michonne a well-known character for the ones familiar with The Walking Dead universe, which is a good choice considering that she's rather mysterious and therefore we want to have more information on her. The series start slowly with a very conventional first episode that will not surprise gamers from the previous Telltale's games but episode 2 and 3 really stood up with big decisions that have a great impact on the story (like who lives and who dies). The character of Michonne is very well done, and the cast of side characters varies from very cool to very expected, it is clearly not their best story, but not a bad one neither.

Technically, it may be the best looking Telltale game so far and I didn't encountered any bugs during my playthrough, very good job on this part.

Finally the length, and that's my main issue with this game each episode will last about 1 hour which is way shorter than the other series (usually it's between 1 hour and a half and 2 hours for each episode) and given the fact that they are, proportionally, at the same price-tag I fell like the game is overpriced.

In conclusion if you're into the interactive stories genre, The Walking Dead: Michonne will most probably satisfy you without blowing your mind but I'll advise to wait until the game goes on sales before buying it as it's pretty short for the price.

Telltale's first miniseries starts off strong, but quickly loses steam as it gets closer to the end of it's three episode run. We get more tough decision making, more gory action, and an original story that takes place during an unexplored time in the comics that features one of the series most popular characters in the starring role. That all sounds like a recipe for success and it is for the most part. That being said it looks like three episodes isn't enough to really tell a completely fulfilling story.

Michonne is definitely the star here. The character is excellently captured and the glimpses into her mental state and emotional struggles is compelling. However due to the short running time the characters around her fall short and so does the conflict as a result.

I was amazed by the second episode's ability to present some truly hard decisions to make that had me second guessing whether or not I did the right thing. Because of that there is a huge amount of replay value that's only bolstered by the series short length. However once you reach that final episode is when all the tension fades away. A pretty bad thing considering that's when the conflict finally reaches it's breaking point. The whole thing goes out with a whimper rather than a satisfying roar.

The reason for this is that there isn't much of a reason to get invested in it's immediate conflict. We already know Michonne is going to make it out of all this okay, so any sort of tension is derived from pondering the fates of the game's original characters. However it gives us no reason to get invested in them. They aren't explored, show no growth, and are kind of impossible to care about. Mix that with an admittedly interesting, but poorly explored main villain and the big final fight lacks any sort of tension.

The real struggle Michonne faces here is an emotional one. The conflict ends up being much more satisfying. She's haunted by past demons. As a result we get looks into her past and state of mind that really builds upon the character. The short length of the season and shared focus with a much less interesting struggle means that none of this gets as much attention as it deserves, but these moments still comprise the more enjoyable elements of the story. This is stuff any Michonne fan needs to see.

I also have to give special praise to the action sequences. Not only to they do an excellent job of capturing just how awesome Michonne is at killing stuff, but they show off an improved level of gore and violence for the Telltale Walking Dead series as a whole. These quick-time events have never been better.

The Michonne miniseries shows off impressive action and forces players to make some brutal decisions at times. It does manage to stop itself short of greatness in the end thanks to the three episode limit causing the big battle to lack meaning, but makes up for it with deeper looks into the Michonne character. Bullets may fly, but it's the internal fight that's much more interesting.

Telltale's continued work with The Walking Dead comic series has still yet to capture the magic of their first outing, but their efforts are still appreciated. Their miniseries might not totally succeed, but it still provides an enjoyable experience. One that Walking Dead fans should still give a look thanks to the strength the title character brings to the overall experience.

7.8/10 (based on an average of the individual scores I gave each episode.)

Yikes. This is not a good miniseries and makes me miss the main series a lot more. Although this game is not without merit, there are plenty of cool moments hidden within.

Mais do mesmo na formula da Teltale. Com uma personagem táo interessante como Michone era de se esperar que a produtora fizesse um trabalho acima do mediano.

Let me just make this clear: I am a MASSIVE fan of Robert Kirkman's atmospheric and character driven masterpiece comic book saga, The Walking Dead. To be honest, It's really sticking out like a sore thumb that the main writer and directors behind S1 left, because this game holds bar nil tension, or quality. Much like most games nowadays, The Walking Dead: Michonne is average, and not worth a millisecond of your precious cash. Read the comics, or play the excellent Walking Dead Season One, but don't play this. Telltale is finished, and everyone, even Telltale themselves, know it at this point. Expand

Maybe it was the anticipation of a game featuring one of the best characters from The Walking Dead that made this such a disappointment. Maybe it was the fact that while I would like to say "I don't need my zombie games to be all about action and killing," in actuality, I couldn't stop wishing I could cut through hordes of them with a katana as the beautiful and amazing Michonne. Maybe it was the fact that while I would like to say "I don't need my zombie games to be all about action and killing," in actuality, I couldn't stop wishing I could cut through hordes of them with a katana as the beautiful and amazing Michonne. The story seemed much more clunky than the first two seasons of The Walking Dead, and while it seemed like it would be exciting to play as a known and well-liked character like Michonne, I ended up being the most disappointed that it wasn't Season 3 instead. Part of TWDs appeal is not knowing what happens next. So, taking a middle part of someone's story, when you know they will survive, takes away some of the tension and drive. Little reason is given to care for anyone who actually has something at stake. As a fan of the comics, show, and other games, I would say you could pass on this chapter and be just fine. Expand

While this game was certainly enjoyable and I wish Telltale did more little TWD spin offs like these, the story and characters are simply just okay and the game never manages to be anything other than a decent experience, but still never quite a bad one. 75/100

Quite an average game. That's not to say it's bad, but it's not as good as any of the actual seasons. The story is pretty interesting, but I found that the characters don't really have as much charm as the other casts in Telltale's Walking Dead series.

This DLC brings more The Walking Dead atmosphere and new characters. It was interesting to go through but the main game and story is definitely better.

Expand

As a fan of TWD universe I wanted to play this game since a long time but I have also completed a lot of Telltale games so I kept my expectations low after being disappointed in the majority of their titles.

The gore level and the atmosphere are really good. Special mention to the opening theme composed and performed by the rock band Dorothy because it's awesome.
On the negative side, the decisions and character writing are between poor and mediocre. Also after the bankruptcy and dead of Telltale the servers are down and you can not compare your decisions with other players.
If you like TWD, do not dislike other teltallte games and you see Michonne with an aggressive discount give it a try, it will not change your life but it's enjoyable.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 1 So in the first five minutes this girl is almost as dumb as Clem was in season two not only does she know none of what she is seeing is real and should stop giving any of it any mind but she also just drops her sword for no reason and starts walking away from it knowing full well there are more walkers around her and don't get me started on the burning house bit.

2 Norma is a dumb F ing **** even if you tell her nothing but the truth she still thinks you're lying then tries to act like shes a nice person even tho shes not.

3 Choice aren't always what they seem to be and sometimes you'll pick a choice thinking it's one think thing and it ends up being nowhere close to what you intended to say or do a lot of the choices are also just like the beg of meds in season two where whatever choice you make the over all out come is the same either way.

4 QTE are much better then they were in the first two seasons tho they feel a bit slow in the first episode and not just because of the slow mo they add to the action for some reason, thankfully the slow mo goes away in epiosde 3.

5 The intros and recaps are way too long.

6 Outlines can be seen around objects and characters through out most of the game and there clearly not meant to be and it looks real bad, they tend to be bright green but not always and there very annoying.

7 Michonne's delusions are so dumb and annoying, the character knows none of it's real but the game still forces you to interact with it non stop, it's just very annoying and took me out of the game every time and they really bring down my enjoyment of the game.

As thin as the walkers you're outrunning and with some glaring flaws, this unnecessary spin-off is ill-suited to Telltale's strengths, only exacerbating its weaknesses. [July 2016, p.80]
