A Walk in the Park is a solid expansion to an underrated game that features a fantastic setting and some creative enemies.

The Surge is mechanically compelling. Battles are challenging and brutal. Traversing the environment is tense, and, ultimately, rewarding when a shortcut or a new area is unlocked. The fact that the core of the experience is frequently exhilarating, so often makes the faulty links in the chain all the more confusing and frustrating. A Walk in the Park is a rollercoaster ride of an experience. It’s just unfortunate that big chunks of the track are missing.

If you liked The Surge and Deck13 in general, then A Walk in the Park is an easy choice. If you couldn’t be bothered to purchase or finish it in the first place, then maybe skip this.

The DLC does exactly what it should be doing – it pulls Warren out of homogenous industrial interiors and transports him into a new, completely different environment (which actually shows how much the game could have gained from more varied levels in the first place). It also loosens up the atmosphere but I felt it does not go far enough with crazy. I was disappointed with its length (ca. 3 hours in my case) and the fact that it does not scale well to New Game+, as my level 90. Warren felt much too powerful for the most part. [02/2018, p.54]

Focus Home Interactive has given us a great reason to jump back into its futuristic automated sci-fi world with their new DLC, A Walk In TheFocus Home Interactive has given us a great reason to jump back into its futuristic automated sci-fi world with their new DLC, A Walk In The Park. The new content has the player head into Creo World which was the Amusement Park employees would enjoy riding all the rides and sharing all of the thrills of what amusement parks have to offer. This all came to an end when The Surge happened. This DLC takes place pretty early on in the story and acts more like a side story than any extra add-on content to the endgame story. Just like with the base game I enjoyed my time to play through The Surge: A Walk In The Park DLC but it felt like more of the same and the problem I had with the original game is the same problem I had with the DLC and that is once you find a weapon that you enjoy using that is overpowered there is no reason to use any of the other new weapons that you come across while playing this new story. Many of the automated machines you fight at Creo World look pretty cool and are colorful which is amusing but for the most part, all of the fights play out the same which is a good and a bad thing. I truly did enjoy The Surge but I did not love it and the same goes for A Walk In The Park.
    I give The Surge: A Walk In The Park a 6.5 / 10
