Interesting take on survival horror +roguelike games that brings something that VR on PS4 still doesn't have. But as a game, there's not much to delve into here.

The Persistence is an immersive, but not so scary, PSVR stealth game set in a spaceship full of zombies. It uses Rogue-lite mechanics in a good way, feels very punishing- but not impossible - and has some cool weapons to fight in its procedurally generated levels, that you can visit with a friend using a tablet.

By combining the “roguelike” design with the intense atmosphere of a space horror game and the immersion of the VR technology, The Persistence offers a rather enjoyable experience, even though it has some problems like the poor A.I. and a constant repetition of the environments.

The Persistence cleverly blends Dead Space-esque outer-space sci-fi scares with the addictive arcade loop of rogue-lites like Rogue Legacy, resulting in a PlayStation VR campaign that’s both gut-wrenching and weirdly replayable. It won’t take you a million lightyears to complete the likeable campaign, but a hardcore mode awaits when you’ve finished, and clever co-op functionality adds a little longevity to the experience as well. With a compelling gameplay format as well as some great gadgetry, this is one survival mission we thoroughly enjoyed.

Overall, the progression is solid, but there are a few moments where I felt it was sort of unfair (i.e having to backtrack with no health in sight) due to the procedural generation.

An impressive technical showcase for PS VR, but the game lurking beneath is uninspired. [Issue#333, p.68]

A must own for any headset owner. Dead Space mixed with a little alien isolation. The sense of scale and immersion is great, Dualshock 4 only controls but they are great as well. Even if you're not into the stealth horror genre you should still give this a try. Worth every penny and super fun. Full Review »

Great game, tonnes of replayability. A must own PSVR title. A science fiction rouge like akin to dead space meets binding of Issac.

Graphics are very nice and sharp on my PS4 Pro. The controls win the day for me. They are well implemented with dual shock controller. There are 3 comfort settings. Normal comfort setting allows for free walking. I am totally impressed by this title. I am yet to play it more deeply but the game is dark and scary. This is another AAA title for PSVR. IF you are fan of horror survival games you should not miss this game. Scratch the last statement. This is essential game for any PSVR owner. The game is well worth the admission price. This is probably the closest we will get to Dead Space on PSVR. Full Review »
