    So glad I ignored the negative reviews on this one. A stunning bit of work. Amazing graphics, the transitions from game-play to cut scenes and back were great. Great story, and equally great character acting. I can see why it could be a divisive game, it was heavily cut scene and qte over game-play, but I went in viewing it as an interactive movie/tv show and was not disappointed.

    If you like a steampunk style game with some fantasy in it this must be a good option. The game is short: probably about 7-8 hours and it has very good graphics, and cinematics. Gameplay is good, with different kinds of weapons. Voices in Spanish are good. I feel this game should have last at least 2 more hours to give it a proper ending and get deeper into the story. If the ending hadIf you like a steampunk style game with some fantasy in it this must be a good option. The game is short: probably about 7-8 hours and it has very good graphics, and cinematics. Gameplay is good, with different kinds of weapons. Voices in Spanish are good. I feel this game should have last at least 2 more hours to give it a proper ending and get deeper into the story.     Top-notch graphics and nothing else. That is what you should expect from this hiper linear, boring and full of rigid mechanics game. The stealth mechanics are nonsense and the Quick Time Events don't feel natural. If the atory was engaging at least, maybe it could make up for the dull gameplay, but it's not. It's also too short, but you might even be glad of that.

    What a phenomenal game! Top notch graphics, shooting, weapon variety, writing, story, characters, pacing, and vision! I'm only going to dock it one point for being too short. 3-4 more hours would have made the experience perfect. It's easy to see the Naughty Dog influence in this body of work, and sadly most people will never experience it. Because, you know, critics. We need a sequel!

    Un jeu exceptionnel, je viens de le faire en 2023(hé oui il était temps)

    Une très grosse narration, avec une histoire que l'on a envie de suivre de bout en bout.

    Un univers intriguant, je ne comprends vraiment pas les mauvaises notes sur ce jeu.

    Son côté jeu-film a dû déplaire a certains visiblement, il faut être assez mature pour le comprendre.

    Sanırım ilk çıktığında çok linear olduğu için negatif tepkiler toplamıştı. Fakat bazen kısa ve linear oyunları daha çok tercih ediyorum. Bu da onlardan biri. Eğer ucuza aldıysanız ve iki-üç gecelik bir oyun istiyorsanız tam tanımı bu. Grafikleri de dönemine göre iyi.

    The most annoying thing is to watch the 5min cutscene and, when control passes to you, it's just to walk two steps down a corridor or press "X" to open a door, immediately returning to new cutscenes.

    The Order es un juego cinemático. Es una película con una historia y un guión a la altura de producciones de Hollywood. A la altura? Que va, muy superior a verdaderos truños que te ponen en el cine al precio que me ha costado este juego. Jugablemente es un shooter en 3ª persona con coberturas, al estilo de ‘Gears of War’ o ‘Uncharted’, combates por oleadas alternando el uso de diversas armas, con disparos principal y secundario, situaciones que se resuelven con QTE’s y una discreta exploración para encontrar coleccionables sin mucho peso en la trama, estas son sus características jugables. En el aspecto técnico es un juego impecable que, efectivamente, muestra el músculo de Ps4 en su ya lejana salida. Con unos gráficos y un nivel de detalle del Londres de la revolución industrial impresionantes para los años que lleva encima.

    En cuanto a la historia es lo mejor del título. La recompensa del título es precisamente seguirla. Una peli para un fin de semana que no os va a decepcionar. Recomendado.     This is very much a gallery shooter and the near complete lack of player agency keeps the player on a tight leash. You will never get to decide when and in what manner you wish to engage the enemy, rather, you will be forced into doing precisely what the game wants you to do at any given time.

The shooting is quite good, and the game feels good to play ; because ultimately, The Order plays well, and is successful in achieving what it sets out to do. Also, the game does have some fun and novel game mechanics, and it is therefore a shame that it never truly expanded on them, nor leveraged them in any significant way.

    Audio-visuals wise, it has very few equals, and its cinematographic qualities are of the highest order.
    The story is well told, the cut-scenes are directed well, and the acting is top notch. Overall, I found myself immersed and engaged in the story it was telling, which is not something that can be said about most games.

    Furthermore and perhaps more surprisingly - after playing it on hard and taking my time with it - I have found the game to be of reasonable length - say 10h - and I honestly have no complaint in that department. In the light of my experience with the game, the sabotaging campaign this game was victim of at release is truly disgraceful.

    And at this point in the review, I feel I should open a parenthesis and point out the degree to which the gaming press is inconsistent in its treatment of game releases. Suffice to think of the critical reception that shallow and repetitive games such as 'Hellblade' and 'Quantum break' enjoyed to illustrate my point.

    Why is one of the worst torture sessions I have ever had to endure - 'What happened to Edith Finch' - held as a masterpiece then, when all you do is walk around someone's house and interact with a bunch of boring and telegraphed toddler rated mini-games?

    What obscure set of criteria makes or breaks a game in terms of critical reception in this industry ?

    I guess, the logical conclusion is that game ratings and reception are much more effective at revealing something about the critical landscape, than a meaningful measure of a game's merit, and well... this sucks.

    End of the tangent.

    In the end, when it is all said and done, I had a fairly good time with "The order: 1886" and despite the limited scope of its gameplay, I find myself glad I played it. Simply put, if you feel like shooting stuff, and If the world, lore, and overall creative design find grace in your eyes - like they did in mine - go right ahead, you won't regret it.    … Expand

    This game is woefully disappointing. It's a great concept plagued by strange design choices and QTEs. The forced walking in segments is tedious, the lack of a collectable counter or proper archive is unbelievable and the fact you can't skip cutscenes is truly criminal when wanting to replay for collectables, but you'd get through the game in about 2 hrs.

    Now onto the actual game, it's incredibly short. You are looking at around 2.5-3 hours of play time with the rest being cut scenes, some cut scenes are almost 45 minutes long. Straight. Fighting is basic cover, shoot followed by tons on QTE's. As has been mentioned there are even QTE sequences that are literally copied throughout the game. It's the same exact sequences.

    This game has no replay value, no extra modes, no real anything extra. There are no choices, there is no exploring, it's an on the rails cinematic experience with poor FPS and a bad, poorly thought out story. Rent this game, beat it in a couple hours and you will still feel ripped off. This game is the definition of bad. It's the definition of a video game failure. The only reason I won't score lower is because it technically could have been completely broken and never looked pretty at all.    … Expand

This one is definitely more of a interactive movie with more developed combat than most in the genre. Only two negatives I can say are the use of a few too many quick-time events and the world is beautiful, but is only skin-deep beauty. If they ever make an unlikelyI had a blast playing this game!     It has been 7 years since the Order 1886 was released on the eve of the PS4 Launch. It wasted and unique opportunity as the new generation of games was yet to arrive at the new platform, everyone who got a PS4 was eager to try every PlayStation-exclusive AAA game they could get their hands on. That was a once-in-a-lifetime window that ready at dawn could not capitalize.

    At that time, we    It has been 7 years since the Order 1886 was released on the eve of the PS4 Launch. It wasted and unique opportunity as the new generation of games was yet to arrive at the new platform, everyone who got a PS4 was eager to try every PlayStation-exclusive AAA game they could get their hands on. That was a once-in-a-lifetime window that ready at dawn could not capitalize.

    At that time, we were used to PS4 games running at 30FPS, but we were OK to consider it next gen as long as it was in 1080p. But since the devs could not get the game to run stable at 1080/30FPS they had to come up with this crazy [original] idea about those black bars giving the game that "cinematic feel".

    Those black bars were a red flag for me. I was interested in the game concept, but when negative reviews started to arrive, I realized that the black bars were not the only red flag, the shooting and controls were clunky and bad for the majority of gamers, and the combination of up-close camera with black bars made for some difficult to manage 3rd person encounters in which the only thing you see is your characters back.

    In the following 7 years, I've grown fond of PS exclusives and started to give some forgotten games a shot. Been waiting for a next-gen patch for the order 1886 for 2 years now, and it has become evident that Sony has long buried this mistake and wants nothing to do with it. So, I've tried to install a nonofficial patch from illusion that removes the black bars but lowers resolution to 720p (figured that's a nice tradeoff for me) but only works with a 3rd party app that is not supported on PS5. Finally, there was no way to play the game but its original state :/

    While playing The order 1886 I was really surprised with the overall graphics quality, and the storytelling mechanics implemented are awesome! You can tell they took a page from naughty dog in the way they transitioned the lore from cinematic into gameplay and combat dialogue for a remarkable experience. I remember feeling "this game is NOT for everyone" while watching the long cinematics and taking the guided tour through the gothic city corridors. I really enjoyed the way the game takes its time to build the world around you, the characters, and their own arcs, it's all top-tier work. But many gamers might find that approach boring.

    After completing the game, I gave it a 2nd run and felt positive about the experience. That's why I'm giving it an 8. Despite its shortcomings and mistakes, The order 1886 was a great experience and fun game to play.    … Expand

    Stunning graphics, a great story, but the stupiest controls I‘ve ever seen in a game like this. The gameplay is horrible with tons of quick time event. It‘s a mess! This game has the potential for a masterpiece, but someone at the developer must soon have been said: „let‘s destroy it.“

    Don't tell what others say to you, the graphics aren't the only good stuff here. The theme, the atmosphere, the clashes with the werewolves are very good. Unique game, a little bit underrated.

Auch Charaktere, Story und das düstere Setting sind so hervorragend inszeniert, dass einem das Werk des Ready at Dawn Studios durchaus in Erinnerung bleibt.     I like the game, the visuals are amazing but, the firsts chapters are too much cinematic and gameplay is poor, the best of the game comes until the final chapters when action take importance. I hope this game will have a sequel because the story have potential.

This game is absolutely gorgeous. It's a treat play and look at and is even more stunning to discover the game is made in 2015. The steampunk/gothic aesthetic really gels well for the period it's based inFantastic underrated single player game.     Coming to this game 7 years after its release was a true delight. The graphics and cinematography hold up extremely well as well as the art style and general design of the world. It’s extremely moody with thick fog and a melancholic undertone.     Finally knocked this off the backlog. Playing it now, years removed from the hype/backlash around its launch, I had a good time with it. It is short and ends abruptly, but what's here is good. If they made sequels I would play them.

    While The Order: 1886 is a graphical masterpiece it has far more in common with titles released by TellTale Games than it does third person shooters like Gears of War.     Damn…So, I just finished this game and wow it is pretty cool. The atmosphere and mood was set from the beginning and I enjoyed all the characters all of which were performed brilliantly. The graphics still look great all these years later. I only wish it was just a little bit longer and we got to see another side to some of these characters but the struggle of faith was good enough.     Es hat mich unterhalten, zum Teil war das Spiel sogar richtig gut. Mit vermutlich mehr Zeit und Budget hätte man das Spiel wohl richtig gut machen können. So ist es eine stabile Investition für kleines Geld. Allen anderen würde ich es nicht empfehlen.

    Didn't catch up on the game until 2021. The setting sounded interesting and the graphics weren't bad despite the age. The gameplay takes getting used to. It has few highlights. It's more like a movie where you have some choices. For €5 that was a well invested hour. At that time for a full-price title of 60€, of course that puts everything into perspective. So I can understand why some reviews are so bad.

    Overall 7 out of 10 points.

    It entertained me, and at times the game was actually really good. With probably more time and budget the game could have been made really well. So it is a stable investment for little money. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.    … Expand

    Generic sure is the name of this game as a lot of this has been done before. The game-play consists of some very standard cover-based shooting, button prompts and quick time events (QTE). The saving grace here is that there are real consequences to failing the QTE's, yet the mechanics overall don't add anything new to the genre. The stand out attraction of course is the graphics and sound. The visuals in this game are so good that it feels as though you are playing through a cut-scene continuously. The sound effects sit nicely along side some good voice acting that all complements an interesting story. And the story is where we meet mediocrity again. There are some really interesting premises here, from the ware-wolfs, to the knights of the round table. The world has been built with engaging lore to be sure. Unfortunately, everything has been put together so blandly and drab, I can see how people were disengaged early on.

    This sure is a technical marvel as far as presentation goes. And there are some great concepts riddled throughout the steampunk world. So its a shame everything falls flat in the end due to the overall generic feel of the game. If the overall concept of the story interests you, worth a play through (I found it entertaining). However, with a market full of cover-based shooters, you will find a lot better out there.    … Expand

    There is no way people can call this game short and say they love the lenght in uncharted 1. This game for me is a pure masterpiece and i will probably write a review and make a video about once i have the time.

    Wildly underrated. It’s well worth it’s current price, and if you’re going expected a game with a heavy narrative focus, there’s so much here. It’s utterly gorgeous, gameplay is tight, dialogue well written, plot engaging, likeable characters. It deserve a second chance.

    this is a very easy game to 100% one of the few ps4 games ive had the pleasure of 100% the most troubling thing was that after i beat the game i had to watch a video on where some of the    the story was cool and the gameplay was fun and it looks fantastic and runs amazing as well but its very linear and there isnt enough content to warrant replaying after beating the game the first time

This is probably the biggest flaw I think the game actually has. The game length.

    On to the pros. The gameplay is quite nice, intense, third-person cover/shooter action. I really enjoy the weight/feel of the guns we were using. The setting is **** amazing. The social political topics are also v neat. The characters are all very intriguing and the whole atmosphere and vibbe the game displays is really intimate and good. The QTE are not that bad, in all honesty. They do actually create for quite a nice, immersing, experience in this very narrative heavy game.

    I need this game to have a sequel. I want that so badly. There is a **** tone of potential for a follow-up. I really hope (in the future) that this studio can, HONEST TO GOD, finish this game's complete narrative.    … Expand

It’s still a great game though, and totally worth your time. It’s truly a shame that it doesn’t look like we’ll ever see a sequel for it, since it was the first real “wow factor” game for the PS4.… Expand

    Zur Story:
    Man spielt in einem alternativen viktorianischen London. Unter den Menschen gibt es Fabelwesen (eine Geschichte die gerade den Verschwörungstheoretikern gut gefallen könnte :) ) und es gibt einen Ritter Orden, der geschworen hat eben diese Fabelwesen zu vernichten, ihr spielt einen dieser Ritter und werdet während des Spiels auf eine Verschwörung des Königshaus aufmerksam. Mehr möchte ich zu dem Spiel gar nicht verraten, weil diese Spiel eben durch seine Geschichte punktet.

    Schade das das Spiel so schlechte publicity bekommen hat und auch schade, das dass Studio von Facebook aufgekauft wurde, denn so werden wir leider nie einen 2. Teil dieses guten Spiels sehen.

The QTE are still there but the history is linear, without any kind of choices, but the game play has a lot more action, with fluid moviments, creative weapons arsenal and good battle fun between the scenes.     The game is to short and wastes to much of the players time, but dam when it's good, it's good. The visuals and detail remained unmatched until the very end of the generation and the gameplay is amazing , it just needed more of it.

Lo malo, demasiado corto, demasiados cinemas, demasiados “Quick Time Event”. Buen juego pudo ser mejor. Si es que sale una segunda entrega ojalá no tenga en demasía lo malo descrito.

    This is an underrated game. It does not give you the perfect third person shooter combat and it gives you a small portion of exploration, which is a shame because the areas, streets and your surroundings look so good. It is one of the best looking games I have played and if you do not mind a very linear approach and a cinematic experience, something like an interactive film, this is a must play.

    The game looks fantastic, but I don't think that graphics should be the defining factor in deciding a game's quality.

    The rest of the game is surprisingly a lot more like your David Cage-Telltale Games interactive movie type of the thing than a shooter, which is a let down (for me at least). The cutscenes are endless, but the thing that irks me most are QTEs. QTEs are NOT interactivity.    The game looks fantastic, but I don't think that graphics should be the defining factor in deciding a game's quality.

    The rest of the game is surprisingly a lot more like your David Cage-Telltale Games interactive movie type of the thing than a shooter, which is a let down (for me at least). The cutscenes are endless, but the thing that irks me most are QTEs. QTEs are NOT interactivity. This would be acceptable in one of David Cage's games, but this is a SHOOTER.

    I wish that the game had been more clear about this. I wouldn't have purchased it in that case, and I wouldn't be writing this review. If you like interactive movies with pretty visuals, sure, you'll like this. But don't expect an actual game out of this.    … Expand

    Finally played the game since buying it when it was first released. All the negative reviews put me off playing it but once I finally got around to it, I definitely enjoyed the game more than I thought I would. They could’ve done with making the storyline a little longer but all the cutscenes were actually interesting to watch.     This game can definitely be skipped. It was agony not being able to skip the God awful cutsenes. No wonder this series died immediately.

    Although the storyline invokes weighty subjects like colonialization and socioeconomic inequality, it fails to address these topics in any substantive way. Ditto the game’s dialogue, which contains flourishes of eloquence that founder because, as pleasing as the words are to the ear, the actions they affect have no bite.
