    The game on its own has a great story. Take the sequel out of the equation and its amazing. Beautiful world and great characters. Gameplay and combat isn't the best but overall a solid game.

    TLOU has been hyped up ever since the original launch. I managed to grab a PS5 and try this out and I do agree with most people with this is a fun game. The story is interesting and for a game that was released many years ago, the gameplay still holds up but even with the remastered version the graphics start to look a bit dated.

    The gameplay can at points be a bit repetitive but as with most story games, they're 'go to this place *something happens* now go to this place' so it's expected.

    A nice selection of guns but some of the skills are pointless and are literally just filler. Why upgrade your crafting speed when you can easily craft when in no danger whereas you can increase your health or item usage amount? The same goes with the gun upgrades, why upgrade mag size (when bullets aren't amazingly common) when you can upgrade damage/range? Either way, most of the weapon upgrades (apart from the bow) are pretty useless.

    I played this first time on hard mode and finished with 12 deaths. I was incredibly stingy with my ammo and items, finished with max ammo and a decent amount of crafting supplies too and prefered to use my ammo only in emergency situations which was few and far between. I'd say around 3/4 times the entire story where you feel a bit helpless and want to just start spraying bullets but can't due to resource management but overal felt the amount of supplies you find is way too much. You can play the entire game fully stocked and equipped.

    The stand out is the story, I'm not wanting to spoil anything but 90% of the time you're wanting to move forward, the other 10% of the time are tedious/boring parts which is where I'd usually call it a day and change game.
    The ending isn't as top-tier as people would make it out to be. When I finished the game it was more of a 'Is that it?' moment rather than 'That was fun!' but I guess the story before that makes up for the finish.    … Expand

    I have just finished the game and this game is really great. A lot of memorable characters and stories. With interesting main story and intense atmosphere thought while play.

    Starting off with the goods is that the story and the writing in this game are amazing and gotta be somewhere near the perfect mark. It really knows how to pull on the heart strings. I am a stone hearted mother f****** and a tear even tried to crawl down my face during this game.     Starting off with the goods is that the story and the writing in this game are amazing and gotta be somewhere near the perfect mark. It really knows how to pull on the heart strings. I am a stone hearted mother f****** and a tear even tried to crawl down my face during this game. With how the characters are and the fact it doesn't explain everything into minor details. It doesn't treat the player like an idiot. The game also doesn't tell you every last thing you need to do. It lets you work things out for yourself. But if you are stuck in the same place for 15 minutes, walking round the same building then it will offer a hint. You can tell it to get lost and you wanna work it out for yourself or you can give into your frustrations and take the hint. You can roam the map and find items that you then craft up different items to aid in your adventure. The crafting isn't so much essential which is why its done well. I normally don't like games that force you to craft 24/7 just to be able to progress. But this game I thought it was a good feature. Items as well are easy to find. You haven't gotta look around the map to much although I would say its better to do so. You also find these little pill shaped things which can give your character small perks like extra heath and stuff. Again not essential but good to find them. 1 last upgrade option is your weapons. You find these bolt things which allow you to build attachments for your guns, extended mags, longer range, less sway and so on. You start off being able to carry 1 hand gun and 1 bigger gun and the rest goes into your bag. This then makes it when you wanna switch out you have to open your bag and swap the weapons. This takes around 10 seconds. But you can get extra holsters which allows you to carry 2 of each weapon instead. They have thought allot about all these things in order to give the player more things to work towards. How to go through each encounter. It's not an easy game by any means. I was playing on normal and this was difficult but fun. If you think you have set the difficulty to high then no stress because you can change it any point you like in the settings. There is 4 different difficulty options so I can't imagine what the hardest 1 is like and dont think il have the skill to complete it on that setting any time soon. Trophy's in this game are like gold dust. You never get them. I was playing for around 3 hours before I got 1 for crafting 1 of each item.
    The graphics are still great to this day and this game is near 8 years old. Sony games always managed to push the hardware. I suppose they should as they built the console. They must give their studios information about how to optimise games in the best possible way for the playstation. (joke). The gameplay overall feels solid. At times it does show its age thou. The AI just does dumb sh*t that makes no sense. For example, if you grab a guy from the back and take him down no one knows. But if he sees you and then you smash him round the head and kill him then everyone and their mothers know where you are? This was really frustrating at times and made stealth allot more frustrating then it needed to be. Especially the fact that without stealth completing this game would be impossible as you never have any ammunition. A guy shoots 1 bullet at you and then you kill him but he doesn't drop any bullets. So that guy was just walking round with 1 bullet in his gun. No surprise thou because thats what I been doing through out the hole game. So I have no bullets and have to resort to stealth but the stealth is annoying because you kill someone before they have chance to open their mouth but now everyone knows where I am, I can't fight everyone because the game has no ammo spawns. Seriously why didn't you just let me make ammo in the crafting options? I can make a bomb but I can't make shotgun shells? People make shotgun shells using coins irl so this would make sense if added to the game.
    This game clearly wanted to be more realistic thou. Rather than 1 person killing 100 people in 1 shootout. So it does make sense why they don't give the player 100 bullets for each gun. But the amount they do give you is just wrong. You can hold 7 bullets for the rifle. And people survive headshots from the pistol. So if you wanna take the realistic approach then why the hell can I shoot a man in the face and him shake it off like nothing happened? Is he some hybrid infected or something? But if these issues weren't present then the game would be a 10 because I really enjoyed playing it. Its just annoying that these are such obvious things and for some reason they released the game with those issues present. I love having a playstation because Sony likes the keep the good times rolling and still to this day they are making games for the Story mode. There is no denying that their story's are amazing.    … Expand

    although people love this game so much and consider this game as the best there is and the best there ever will be...

    i think this game is a little bit over rated...i still loved everything about this game the story was great the gameplay was okay but in 2013 the trend was Zombie games... last of us was just another game chasing the trends of its time so its not an original idea but its    although people love this game so much and consider this game as the best there is and the best there ever will be...

    I state: The last of us is the icon, praised as the 'best game ever' only by normies and casuals. This game itself barely has anything valuable to offer: the gameplay feels very uninspired and repetitive and stealth segments are kinda forced and annoying.     Music is quite alright. I mean, most of tracks aren't worth noticing and are easily forgettable, but there're a few entries that are freaking outstanding.
    Graphics don't seem very outdated. Moreover, I don't see a genuine reason to improve over games's current visual appearance, so TLOU's 'Remake' is just a last cash grab.
    Story and characters are the best redeeming qualities. Their quality aren't by any case groundbreaking since there're tons of things in cinematography and literature being more complex and intriguing, but it's definitely good.

    Once again, I'm not trying to say The last of Us is a bad game by any means, but uugh... I don't really get why would an experienced gamer kill for this game.    … Expand

    I still remember getting this game because it was free 4 ps+ members back in 2019. It is one of the best games i have ever played

    A good game that have some interesting survivors mechanics with knives, bricks, crafts, the aim been not that good, etc. But the game is kind overrated in the subject of the story, the bound between Joel and Ellie is amazing, but that's it... the rest is a common survivor zombie story and game. That said the winter part is awesome and the pittsburgh one is terrible.

    To preface this review - I am not necessarily a Naughty Dog fan. In fact, I find their games to be well-polished glorified movies on rails. I do have a lot of respect for what they are able to do though. The Last of Us Remastered tells a great gritty story and makes you feel like you are living through it. Gameplay and visuals are sharp and crisp and production value is a 10/10 for sure.To preface this review - I am not necessarily a Naughty Dog fan.     In my humble opinion, the whole shooting part of the game wasn't as fun as I wanted it to be. The mechanics of the game in general were very good. The story was incredible! I adored it! The same applies to the scenes and the music. They both were captivating. Loved it overall.

    Story is amazing but the gameplay loop bored me at times to the point where I had to lower the difficulty so I could speed run the story. Encountered couple bugs like enemies respawning and my arrows being gone after my death.

    I think this is a game that relies heavily on its story and characters, which are phenomenal. The gameplay itself is still fun albeit maybe slightly repetitive. I would give this 0.2 less than the second game solely because of the actual game but what brings this up is definitely the story.

    Obviously the story is the main course here, nobody would ever tell you otherwise, but sadly for a near ten year old game (this is a remaster, not a remake) the gameplay feels clunky, you really just go from place to place taking cover and shooting enemies, as a enjoyer of TLOU2 I much prefer the gameplay in that even though the story was not up to the standards for some people.

    Story is masterfull, but the gameplay is not great, very run of the mill. Not exacly the masterpiece it is generallu regarded as, but it is good. One of my favorite endings to a piece of media.

    Pros: - Insane graphics considering its from 2014. - Interesting and riveting story with a few surprises. - Gameplay and the many ways to combat. Cons: - The game can feel a bit long at times. - it's annoying when you get stuck at a certain point and it doesn't really provide you with hints as you see    Good game overall altough i dont think it's a 10 out of 10 like many others.

    The only reason I give this game a 8/10 is because of the giant amount of moments in the campaign where the charecters are just walking which doesn't let you fully focus on the gameplay and don't get me wrong the gameplay is great but it's impossible to play this game for only gameplay because it just forces you to be engaged with the story

    this game has a tearful story, the first time I played it I didn't like it that much, when I played it on grounded, I felt that was the true essence of the game, btw has one of my favorite soundtracks and gameplay is not bad at all, play it, please.

    A post-apocalyptic road trip that offers a fantastic, riveting experience, where destruction and beauty, and hope and despair, get entwined in a way that’s nothing short of genius, The Last of Us is so good that its somewhat repetitive, and occasionally dull gameplay isn’t enough to rob it of its rightful place amongst the video game greats. Therefore, if looking for an unforgettable action-adventure, with strong cinematic sensibilities, and a heavy emphasis in adult, character-driven storytelling, look no further than Naughty Dog’s classic, especially now that the remastered version has made the original even more stunning.
