    This isn't entertainment so much as it is propaganda. The developer leveraged the goodwill generated by the first game to push a woke political agenda, packaged within a trite message about violence which would seem shallow to a young child, let alone thinking adults. It also subverts the classic first game's powerfully ambivalent message about what we are prepared to do for our families.

    i can't believe how naughtydog could f up so bad, killing joel in the first few hours, the story makes no sense, it's just a basic b*tch revenge story, it's nothing like the first one. Gameplay is basically the same as before, but they added jumping or something, they also reduced the environmental puzzles to a minimum what is a bit of a shame. Save yourself a $60 and don't buy.

Ellie wants to avenge his death but let’s Abby walk. the story falls flat and is just embarrassing. it’s sad that this happened. Ignore the reviews that naughty dog paid for. They gave no respect for previous game characters, by torturing and killing them and in the end of hours of poor game play reminding worst of uncharted series and playing as annoying characters you just can’t take a revenge, you let go your main enemy. Poor script, written maybe by some Neil Druckmann’s random boyfriends from the street with 0 knowledge of how to write it, bad gameplay and oh... it’s just a shame.… Expand

It was the real disrespect for those who loved the first game. This could be like a side story over a videogame no one cared about. And it will still be an absolute trash. Inclusion over society and political matters had to be included right? Had to be set free in the end? How cowardly from the director of this game.     This game had really poor writing, and this is a very heavy statement as it is a game that *should be* driven by story. The motives are unconvincing, forced cliche, and made no attempt to improve upon the previous game, and absolute insult to the fans of the game.

    If you came here and read my review, if you loved the first game, just don't buy and don't play this.

    Wow Just Wow. I still can't comprehend the fact that i played a game which not only made me cry but gave me a thrilling experience. The graphics of this game are top notch, the story line is incredible. 10/10 will play it again

But now I understand how bad of a company and studio they are. Manipulating reviews, controlling advertising, false advertising in their trailers like we would not notice. They created the masterpiece that we know as the last of us 1. A game where we grew in love with the characters. Learned to appreciate their thoughts and emotions. Once we heard of a sequel everyone including myself became so hyped wanting for more of the characters we loved, a satisfaction to see where the journey of our favorite characters would continue. BUT NO WE WERE ALL WRONG. Naughty dog took this as a step to introduce politics and their stupid agenda they seem to idolize so much. We don’t care if the character is a girl, or a lesbian, or this or that. As long as it makes sense to the plot and is not trying to shove it down our throats then is fine. This game introduces a diverse cast of characters forcefully. Tries to makes us erase our memories about everything and everyone we loved in the last of us 1. Erase everything completely. As soon as the game starts they kill of one of the characters we love in the most horrendous possible way. And then whole game then process to show events that want to make us hate said character. Oh did I forget to say that they make you play as the character that destroys what we love so much. There aren’t enough words to describe how bad the writing and the plot is. Is just so barebones and in the end remember this words “IT WAS ALL FOR NOTHING”. Graphics are great, amazing in fact. And gameplay is fun I guess, a little to gory, guess naughty dog is a bunch of fckng psychopaths that get hard on this. The shooting just sucks pretty hard. All in all I wouldn’t recommend this game to anyone that loved the foundation of what the last of us 1 was.… Expand

    Honestly most dissapointing game of the generation for me. I saw the leaks but still wanted to go in open minded and enjoy the game for what it has to offer. While the gameplay is ok and the grafics are good everything about the story turned out to be even worse than exspected. First time being dissapointed with ND. I really don't get how all those reviewers brought this game up to a 95.

    To bs honest, everything that made TLOU fun was just thrown to the trash. The naughty dog you knew that made the first game is just gone. 20 hrs of story that in the end you'll wonder why you even bought the game. 60£ went to the trash

    While it does have great graphics and a wonderful sound, the gameplay is fluid but not on a near perfect level. Sometimes it feels too clumsy and not polished enough.
    The story on the other hand is nothing more than making a statement against men while focussing more and more on gender issues. With killing of the first games main character the story feels more constructed than anything else- while you shouldnt judge anybodys work solely on a political bias, the trailer are false marketing and nobody should ne encouraged to buy this game.    … Expand

    Better to think This game is just a Ellie's bad dream this shouldn't be a sequel, Is only a complementary chapter for the 2013 story.

    Graphically is better obviously for the console gen difference, but some of the mechanics doesn't feels natural...

The scene cuts and flashbacks have no order and only hurts the player experience and adds confusion which is never resolved. Narrative and storytelling wise this game is atrocious. The scene cuts and flashbacks have no order and only hurts the player experience and adds confusion which is never resolved. If you enjoyed the first last of us game then be warned, the devs really made it their mission in this game to tear down everything we loved and enjoyed from the predecessor in hopes to "subvert expectations" but it backfired and is arguably worse Game of Thrones' 8th season. The narrative choices feel forced in a bad way, extremely edgy, genuinely confusing, and downright nonsensical at times. The major problem I have with this game is that the plot lines go nowhere and it doesn't even leave you on an ominous note. It feels as if you played and finished the game for nothing, since nothing is actually achieved. Gameplay wise, there's no standout generational improvements from the ps3 era and enemy mob entities are reused multiple times throughout the game; it feels like you're fighting the same 10 zombies and humans. The enemy AI is also terrible, you'll have no trouble getting through the game's most difficult areas which there are very few of since the enemies are unable to detect you behind the smallest of covers. Only positive I could think of is the voice acting and even that gets tiring since the majority of this game is just cutscenes and dialogue while walking from one point to another without any significant gameplay events occuring. 1/10 because they ruined such a loved franchise.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly, waited 7 years for this and managed to pick up and play a copy a few days early.

    The graphics push the PS4 to its limits and look great however you might run into frame rate slowdown with an older console. Expect dated QTEs, horrendous AI, very same-y models scattered throughout, and combat that's meh to say the least. Cordyceps are the secondary fodder to the humans (pregnant, trans, and whatever come between) and animals you fight throughout (dogs included). And, I get the whole "what if WE'RE the real monsters" motif, but come on Naughty Dog.

    The downside that really hit me is not only do you lose a character like Joel who was a well loved character for NUMEROUS YEARS, but he also gets falsely advertised in a trailer, and then killed in the most asinine way. It's so seemingly uncharacteristic you wouldn't believe it when you play it. Abby's introduction for revenge for being the "daughter" of the doctor you killed in TLoU 1 was fine IN CONCEPT, but her character as a whole feels bland and not fleshed out at all. I also didn't feel sorry for her narrative even when the game literally pulled me by the hand and expected me to as well.

    Not to mention the REAL kicker of it getting trailer after trailer showing you playing as Ellie and following her story, you have the worst bait and switcheroo of you playing the majority of it as the new unlikable character, Abby, really sucked.

    But in conclusion you get a hamfisted "revenge is bad" narrative slammed down your throat after literally tearing through slogs of enemies the entire game to get to the finale and it being; "Well i did the damage to get here, and I'm literally about to kill you but hey, even though you killed my father figure, go on and leave now." And then Ellie just lets Abby walk on, after getting 2 fingers chomped off.

    I basically feel like i wasted 7 years of waiting, $62.45, and roughly 26 hours of my life playing a poorly written, bland, and sloppy game who shows it off in spades after losing their original writer. In my eyes, they should have just stuck with the Jak 4 concept instead of this dumpster fire.    … Expand

    The game play is quite good, it has similar mechanic as the previous game and it is crisp, exciting to play. However, unliked part 1, there is no motivation to continue to play. The story line is absolutely garbage, it makes very little sense and is offen cringeworth. I don't know how they went from such a beautiful story in the first game to this.

    The PLOT is absolutely lackluster. The amount of complete bs and random plotholes that occur in the writing of tlou2 is braindamaging. The production quality of the game is amazing: sound, scenery, and gameplay; however, the latter can in no way save the reputation of this game.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Half the 10 reviews are just saying how the bad reviews are people that did not play the game. Then proceed to say how they played an hour or support the game without having played it themselves. I love the "...not a perfect game but... 10/10".

    Well, i played it and it's only redeeming quality is the graphics and sound.
    People ain't mad because of LGBT characters but because it's the centerpiece of the story instead of surviving in a post apocalypse world.
    People ain't mad because Joel died but because he did due to extremely out of character behavior just for shock value and making space for the new protagonist. Ever thought of having him die protecting Tommy or something that don't leave such a bitter taste and would be more in line with his character?
    People are mad about Ellie killing 100's of people to get her revenge but stop because of a dumb flashback because ND did not want their new character killed.

    If you really wanted to see how much people like or dislike Abby, which you seem to think people cared about her, you should have given the character a choice. I bet most of us would have killed her at the end.

    Con: Crap ending, too much romance bs, repetitive gameplay, repetitive NPC models and tons of plot holes/out of character decisions. Quicktime events galore.

There are very little puzzles and all of them are lazily designed. The running animations are laughable.

    The pacing is so horrendous in this game, it almost put me to sleep out of boredom. The developer who directed this movie game even admitted that they don't use the word "fun". If their goal was to not make the game fun, then they nailed it. It's pathetic that game developers don't even want games to be fun anymore. If I'm not mistaken, games are suppose to be fun. That is the reason why I even play videogames in the first place. There is so much SJW influence in this game.

    There is no multiplayer at all. So once you beat the story, there is not a reason to touch this game again. It will go back to the shelf and collect dust. Charging $60 for a game with no replay value is a cashgrab. The greedy developers are basically charging $60 for a movie ticket. They promised there would be multiplayer and decided to cut it out. The developers were too greedy and lazy to develop multiplayer. The only good thing in this game is graphics, but the graphics sacrificed the gameplay mechanics.     Tlou was a great game, story,lore,graphics, judt amazing game. This game ruined everything they built, could have salvaged it with multiplayer since the only improvement is gameplay. Critics got this 1 wrong.

    This game is **** vile. We went from extremely good pacing, amazingly well written characters- to suddenly punishing those characters for decisions they made in the first game, just absolutely **** unnecessary. TLOU was the greatest game in the last decade for me. This **** actually hurts

From start to finish you can see thaylt no love or fan service went into this game and sadly they failed in trying to copy some of Rockstar's writing with a main character death. Unfortunately theg went way too far and screwed up the whole game because of their conservativeness of the modern world... Sorry, But this is not what I expect from a Naughty Dog game and I hope you see that the fans are unhappy with the game even though you paid game reviewers to give you perfect scores.     This heavily story driven game isn't like it has meh story or something, it's just very bad writing and I've been asking myself the question "just why?"

    Best game of the year so far, by far, and one of the best of the decade. This game is awesome! Gameplay, narrative, the roller coaster of emotions. It doesn't give you what you want, no, it definitely doesn't., but it's such a unique experience, very harsh and turbulent, but your ride will be well worth it and really enjoyable.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
