    Just do not listen to the haters who gave the game a bad score, I just finished the game myself, and I have never seen anything like this, it’s unique, brutal and absolutely genius. This is the kind of game that pushes the gaming industry further and allow for inspiration. Naughty dog again proves that they are the best game developers

    Very detailed world, but very weak plot.
    This part couldn't come close to the first,even a little. Sadly.
    The developers wanted to show us what violence leads to. But it all came down to a banal scenario.

    If I wanted to move ladders and throw bricks, I'd get into construction. This is definitely another attempt to get players to cope with certain social aspects that are just not relevant to games, sony or the 21th century.

    Would definitely not play it again.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. TLDR. I am stunned... crying right now because I am insulted and I feel I was hostaged to do something I wont choose in real life. Narrative elements found in this game are better suited to a deep RPG not a linear on rails shooter. A naughty dog game with no carrot on the end of a stick will get tedious quick. No Gameplay is fine but a lackluster story ala last jedi is a very unenjoyable experience

    let me explain bellow

    -The impunity of the developers making decisions for you... in the age of great story driven RPGs and other action adventure games making you choose how to approach things Last of us 2 forces you to do things you detest and dont like and shames you because of doing it. in Bioshock a shooter from the late 2000s shames you or punishes you from killing little sisters by giving you lesser atom and a bad ending, but the game only does that because the player choses to do that. In last of us a 6 year developed game shames you because you did a scripted action which you have no control over.

    -if the last of us wanted to go that route where it wants to teach the lesson revenge is wrong, why not made it a hybrid shooter/rpg game? it removed the multiplayer, gameplay is non existent since its a linear on rails shooter so there is no excuse not to implement that. Where did all that development years go? I dont mind if a game teaches me a hard lesson but please make it so that I am responsible not beacause I was forced due series of scripted events.

    -another thing The greatest plothole... After killing all of Abby’s friend even a pregnant woman! Ellie just let Abby Go wont abby be pissed off a once she is able to avenge her dead friends and continue the cycle!

    -The gameplay while improved still suffers from dull padding(carrying ladder, pushing boxes, jumping and swing in ropes) its unessesary things that really grinds the game to tedious levels of absurd.

    -No prize of a good story after playing a tedious meh shooter does not make this an enjoyable experience.

    in conclusion plot holes, tedious gameplay and an insulting plot and ending made me wish I did not but my copy with Steelbook! its very expensive for a single player only game and it feels long and tedious. It feels wrong I am gutted I feel violated not because the story made me feel that but because the money I spent could have gone to a better developer. I wont be suprised if this is the final Naughty Dog game that will sell well look at Rise of Skywalker. Star wars did not recover, naughty dog might as well, stop making consumers feel bad about supporting you guys its not right!    … Expand

I enjoyed the gameplay of the first game a lot and Part 2 has pretty much the same gameplay which is a big plus -    I am a very big fan of The Last of Us and I waited seven years for the sequel.     However...
    Just like in the first game, The Last of Us Part 2's main drawing force should be the story. I regret to inform that the story in this game is absolutely terrible. There is a lack of respect for the characters from the first game, the ones that I loved very much, like Joel and Ellie. The story is a basic revenge plot with a modern "subversion of expectations" at the end which I didn't enjoy at all.

    I am mourning the franchise, because this game really sank the ship. It really really did.    … Expand

    The graphics are amazing, loved them. Story was trash, game of thrones season 8 style. Killed the franchise, characters were just so... so bad. The gameplay was pretty much the same with little to no variation, jump button was bullsh*t as it looked like a drunk person trying to leap with a twisted ankle. Anyone who loved the first game be warned, for disappointment.

    Where Uncharted 4 went for full crazy action scenes (cutscenes or ingame) to help us forget about repetitive gameplay, TLOU2 goes for more grittiness, sexual content and horrendously stupid shock value.     I'm incredibly sad about what they have done to this franchise.. the first game is one of the best written games that brought me to tears in the first few minutes. This "sequel" is just a huge middlefinger to anyone that loved the first game, hell it's a huge middle finger TO THE FIRST GAME!

    The Last of Us 2 shows how corrupt the critics are aswell, this whole thing is a disgrace.

Graphics look nice but it doesn't really matter too much when you're playing it on a PS4 with terrible frame rate. Everything feels forced and out of place in this game, there's really no words to describe how disappointed I am with this game after waiting for it for so long. Good job naughty dog you really subverted our expectations with this one I guess, can't wait for the terrible sequel, in which i will not waste $60 like i did with this game.… Expand

    Fantastic game in every aspect. Never thought I'd enjoy it as much as I did. You really have to play it to appreciate it. Also Metacritic really needs to link psn accounts to confirm these people own the game before reviewing.

The only good I have to say is that it does look relatively good but what else can I expect from a high budget late generation game. Listen i'm not here only to either hate or fanboy over this game blindly this game was pretty disappointing to be honest.This type of games have mediocre gameplay and basically a movie that depends on the story.Unlike that last of us 1 who got carried by the story and graphics this one sadly did not.This game had amazing graphics even tho i had alot of fps problemes but i get it its on console so not that big of a deal,the animations,voice acting were really well done but in this type of game it doesnt stand out because the sotry was so bad in my personal opinion the new character abby was really trash. Its not about her being mascular(or people claiming we didnt like it because of that) i actually like that part since it makes sense for her to survive but her killing all those characters and then giving us her backstory trying to make us feel empathy for her didn't work.The worst thing was ellie forgiving her and saying she doesn't want to be a murder after all those people she killed was so contradictual.… Expand

    I didn't even played the first game of the franchise but i understand how it feels to get attached to some characters, and after all these unnecessary new characters from the part 2 being added made me quite uncomfortable continuing the game, they force you to play a character you would most likely hate from the beginning of the game, and a lot too..     I wasnt too into the facial expressions during the sodomy scenes. Also whats with the sub-par melee combat? If I wanted a melee game I'd play Absolver which is better in every way in that regard.

And CPR would fail for the hype, so I cannot say anything from it... But this game was WOOOOW and I wish I could play with games like this every year. :)

    Abby is the most generic bad guy there is it’s as if I’m watching an episode of the walking dead. Not to mention I skipped ahead and watched videos of the sex scene why did they think that was necessary to the story?     Worst script ever. It’s like they wanted us to feel hate by infusing hate to the developers. I’ve avoided the leaks for so long but starting to play this game, I wish I had seen the leaks and I would not spend $59.

    Woaw this game is just **** awesome. I cried all my tears in the two first hours ! This game is so beautifull. Ellie is more bad than ever. The story is really well made. This is breathtaking

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. They did Joel dirty. The story is awful all the way through, all the characters are unlikable people and there's some very cringe dialogue here too. Everything that made the first game great is gone.
    Not only was Joels murder overly brutal for shock value, they made Joel into an idiot in order to do it. He made decisions that he would never have made, trusting armed strangers like he knew them.
    It's beyond dumb.
    Then you're forced to play as the character that kills Joel for a big chunk of the game, ridiculous.

    This is comparable to Disney Star Wars and GOT season 8, if you like them you may like this.
    But if you like good storytelling and characters and loved the first game might wanna skip this trash.

This is also reflected in the overall design of the game; while graphically being very impressive, aesthetically it mostly looks dark, gritty, and quite frankly dull. There very little use of natural lightning, such as sunlight, which is in stark contrast to previous games such as Uncharted 4/TLL or even The Last of Us 1. The color palette is quite limited. Definitely prefer to look of the TLoU1 over TLoU2.

    Story: Regarding the story, well.....The original game is about hope and the search for a cure where progress through a world filled with clickers and in which nature is slowly reclaiming its territory. Instead, TLoU2 aims to provide a deepening of the character Ellie and the struggles she goes through. Additionally, it introduces a new main character Abby. There is a pararell to found among these two. You play in a quest for revenge, from the perspective of both characters. However, the main issue here is that everything is a complete mess. The story feels far-fetched. You play as a murder machines, graphically killing off hundreds. I found it difficult to sympathize for with the characters because you have no influence on moral values; everything is forced upon you. I simply could not care for the main characters in the way I did in the original.

    The gameplay aspect is largely what to expect from a Naughty Dog game. Honestly, I have little complaints here.

    Then there is the lgbt aspect: I did not mind it for the most part. Still, it was all a bit much up to a point that it just felt weird, making me question what the point of it all is. Are they trying to make a statement here? Is a video game really the best way to do this? Just felt a bit extreme at times.

    Overall conclusion: The story is told ineffectively and I was unable to care for the main characters, something the original was so good it. The world is fairly dull-looking (although graphically incredibly impressive), as part of the overall theme the game is going for. It has a very hard time justifying why the tone is so dark. Left me disappointed and unsatistied.    … Expand

    "Saw 3D" of video games. Laughable story with no moral, abundance of violence and one distasteful sex scene. This game has absolutely nothing to say. The writer may think it does, but what it tries to do, other games had already done better and with more finesse. Then again, being more subtle than a sledgehammer is not exactly difficult.

While there were a few genuinely good moments, majority of game filled up with plot holes. It just took elements of what worked for the first game without understanding what made them compelling.
