    The Gameplay is okay and the Graphics are great, but the story is very very bad. This has no respect for the characters from the first Game, stupid decisions, unlikeable characters, plot holes, overall poor writing, SJW agendas, unnecessarily much violence and a very bad ending. Don't buy this Game, if you're a fan from the first one, for me this is just non canon.

    Influencers and youtubers lured me into buying this generic third person shooter with shockvalue cutscenes. Druckman **** destroyed the story with that nonsense **** If you want to be inclusive no problems with that, but what's this politically charged crap? If you want a GOOD homosexuality inclusion, look at games like Dragon Age Origins.     Downgrade total, deseption 100 porcent. Frame rate below 30fps, poor gráficos, horrible shades and lights. Full of cinematic. Gameplay boring.

    I couldn’t believe that Naughty Dog could go from having a game so highly revered as The Last of Us 1 with it’s beautiful story of Joel and Ellie, and go straight down into the dumpster fire of TLoU 2. They single handedly ruined their franchise’s best characters and completely destroyed the goodwill they had from their fans. I had such high hopes for this games since I loved the first oneI couldn’t believe that Naughty Dog could go from having a game so highly revered as The Last of Us 1 with it’s beautiful story of Joel and Ellie, and go straight down into the dumpster fire of TLoU 2.     I get that you wanted to try something new, but this? - there is no honor in this!

    Why not have Ellie arrive at a research facility because she wanted to find a cure and became mad at Joel because he told her the truth. Then something goes wrong at the facility and a lot of the infected overruns the facility so Ellie, Joel and Abby needs to escape together. Joel cannot escape because he had gotten bit previous due to a situation with the infected where Tommy lost his life, but Joel had to see Ellie one last time because she is his “daughter”. Joel then says goodbye to Ellie and the two of them have a father-daughter moment before Abby is leading Ellie to a secret door. Joel realizing what he did to Abby and gives her an apology for what it is worth. He did it to protect Ellie because he sees her as his daughter, Abby can relate to this and forgives him for his sins. Joel then closes the door shut behind them and he barricades himself to the door with a chain and the infected attacks and kills Joel while he provides Ellie and Abby some time to get to safety. Running down the corridor Ellie hears Joel’s screams of pain While tears are running down her cheeks. Ellie and Abby must now try to work together to find another facility and try to safe what is left of the human race before it gets too late. Doing the story this way you avoid **** ALL OVER A FATHER FIGURE AND A BELOVED FRANCHISE! WHICH I AM SORRY TO SAY BUT YOU GUYS AT NAUGHTY DOG JUST PUT THE LAST NAIL IN THE COFFIN!     ***EARLY GAME SPOILERS ONLY***

    I was a major fan of the original game. I absolutely adored it. I beat it several times including once on the Grounded difficulty. I also bought the PS4 remaster edition. The atmosphere and storytelling were amazing and even though the gameplay was fairly minimalistic, I still had fun as well. I was looking forward to the sequel ever since they announced it. Nothing could stop me, not even the leaks which Naughty Dog assured me were "fake." Fast forward to yesterday. I managed to get my hands on the game a day early. Couldn't wait to get home and try it.

    Almost 10 minutes into the game, I realized something was wrong. The atmosphere and storytelling took a backseat to fairly simple "revenge" story. The characters no longer behaved like themselves anymore. It was as if they were written by a child - basic, filled with angst, no longer driven by anything except hatred. Ellie barely touches upon Joel's rescue of her at the conclusion of the previous game. Within 20 minutes, there's blatant progressivism propaganda - Ellie having an altercation with a "bigot." Sometime after that, we get bombarded with a lesbian sex scene. You guys do realize the setting is during the apocalypse, correct? Characters often at times get mad at each other for no reason like a teen drama and just like that, it's resolved like nothing ever happened There's a bunch of zigzagging through the story just to get to ultra violent scenes. Before I knew it, Joel was clubbed to death by angry transgender after having saved her life and spit on by a character resembling the lead designer.

    Is this a joke? Are they trolling me? Did I get the wrong copy? Why is there so much hatred, so much senseless violence, so much propaganda? Is it to desensitize me for something? Ellie swears revenge and the story keeps falling apart after that, which I won't spoil for you. There's plot convenience galore - stuff happens just to push the story along, not because it's spontaneous or anything like that. Gameplay hasn't changed much either - there's a jump button and that's pretty much it. The graphics could be better, they certainly are nowhere near as good as Horizon Zero Dawn or God of War. You can tell this from the "snow effects" where snow gets pushed in before the characters step on them. The textures could also use some work as well some of the lightning effects. The framerate chugs along at 30fps, sometimes dipping into the low 20s on my PS4Pro. I did notice a few glitches where characters get stuck and glued onto objects. This game has been in development since 2013 and 7 years later, it's still an aimless, buggy, edgy letdown. Upon further research I realized the lead designers behind the Last of Us 1 (Amy Hennig) were let go for some reason and the company has a whopping 70% turnover rate. Was there a coup at Naughty Dog? That explains the unfinished product I guess.

    In short, this is the single greatest video game disappointment I've ever played and I've played a bunch of terrible games - Duke Nukem Forever, Fallout 76 at launch, No Man's Sky at launch, Aliens Colonial Marines, and Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness. Nothing, absolutely nothing comes close by comparison. Hell, I was less disappointed with Game of Thrones season 8. Why on earth does this game have a 96 average? It has to be paid journalism. I refuse to believe that they played any more than an hour of this game and think it could be anything above a 5/10. I would sell this game on eBay to try and make some money back but I'd rather just toss it in the trash and save someone the suffering. Avoid this game like the plague. 0/10.    … Expand

    Я не понимаю, почему всем людям не понравилась эта игра, да в ней присутствует некая ЛГБТ повестка, но это не отменяет многолетний труд компании которая разрабатывала эту игру, то что там есть повестка, еще не значит что сама игра плохая, почему-то люди в момент забывают что кроме ЛГБТ повестки в этой игре и замечательная история, игровой процесс, графика и оптимизация, и мне очень жальЯ не понимаю, почему всем людям не понравилась эта игра, да в ней присутствует некая ЛГБТ повестка, но это не отменяет многолетний труд компании которая разрабатывала эту игру, то что там есть повестка, еще не значит что сама игра плохая, почему-то люди в момент забывают что кроме ЛГБТ повестки в этой игре и замечательная история, игровой процесс, графика и оптимизация, и мне очень жаль всех тех, кто считает, что игра должна быть похожа на первую часть, это не первая часть, и если бы она была на нее похожа, в чем смысл в нее играть?     Sadly though, they have been let down completely by the writers.

    TLOU2 should not be considered, by any TLOU fan, a sequel. The writers have completely and utterly destroyed everything that you learned to love in the first game. I don't care about character's sexual orientation - that personally isn't something that is on my radar, or something I'd care about; love who you love and all that.

    But the game is pointless due to its story - rather than create a worthy successor to the first, ND have put forward a nonsensical and boring story - and let's no mention the numerous misleading pieces before released; making it seem that Joel will be in it. I wouldn't be surprised if there will be a huge influx of refund requests to this alone.

    I tried to laugh off all the comments about the 10/10 reviews being "paid off" - but you really start to wonder if there is some truth to this, the further you get into this game.

    As a die hard TLOU fan, I cannot recommend this game at all - just keep on walking folks, let the ending of TLOU be the end.    … Expand

The violence is gratuitous and major plotholes are never addressed. I still recommend the first game (which is a masterpiece), but I can't recommend this one.     Boneheaded decisions and questionable plot choices will make every fan of the first game say “are you serious?” This game goes the way of game of thrones season 8, and it ain’t pretty. Graphics are nowhere near enough to alleviate the colossal mistakes in the plot that NaughtyDog will surely come to regret.

    It breaks my heart to write this, but I really did not expect such a poor story after all these years of waiting. While there were a few genuinely good moments, majority of game filled up with plot holes. It just took elements of what worked for the first game without understanding what made them compelling. It seems like this game was done by other studio, but its not!

The studio lied to fans for months saying that the leaks weren't true and that the story would honor Joel and Ellie.     Overall. This game is just... a long movie. No choices to make, just sit back and enjoy the constant violence. Barely any levity. I understand its a bleak world but holy heck can you at least give us something? People you care about get murdered, slaughtered, maimed and all kinds of things, until you eventually just become numb to it. And then at the ending you are supposed to care again.

    I see what they try to do with the "cycle of violence, but its written by a two year old.

    I just... Ok everybody knows Joel dies by now because of the spoilers. But the way they did it. It was nihilistic, gross, disgusting. He didnt go out in some heroic moment, he wasnt protecting Ellie. He just gets clubbed down with a golf club while other people spit on his corpse. AGAIN i understand the game is supposed to be bleak, but this is a character people have loved for 7 years. Its completely disrespectful towards any fan of the previous game.

    Then you play Abby, and we are supposed to be caring for her? I mean... what? Because Joel killed her dad. Cycle of violence, we get it, revenge begets revenge, because Ellie will go after Abby bla bla bla.

    I understand what they are trying to do. But the end just makes it laughable. You go killing HUNDREDS of humans, to get revenge for Joel. But in the end you let Abby live, because Ellie gets a flashback of Joel. And decided its not worth it. HOW about the other hundreds of people you eradicated in your quest for revenge? You just let the actual killer go? It's just ridiculous.

    Joel would have killed her in a heartbeat if she killed Ellie.

    Anyway. Zen. This game is trying to get us angry, and i get that i will be judged just emotional, and reacting exactly as i should have. But im simply angry because it was all so poorly written, poorly handled and executed. Joel has always been paranoid and super careful, but decides to just let himself get captured, after giving away his full name to strangers who obviously are luring him into a trap. Joel would never have given away his full name. But because of plot, he had to.

    I understand its a game, so obstacles have to exist in games. But its almost comical how you get to wipe out literal hundreds of people, and then get to feel bad about killing someone who killed your father figure, letting her go.

    1/10. Such a slap in the face. I loved TLOU. But this franchise is dead to me.
    I hope you enjoy it. I really do. Just here to say my piece. And i would recommend not supporting this crap financially. They will only make more of this crap.

    Oh i left out graphics and gameplay.

    Uno degli aspetti ingiustamente gonfiati dai giornali videoludici è la grafica di gioco. Parliamoci chiaro: quest'ultima risulta essere in gran parte spettacolare, come lo è sempre stata in qualsiasi altro gioco di Naughty Dog, ma non è nulla che faccia gridare al miracolo (al contrario di come viene dipinto nelle recensioni su YouTube). Spiccano il fantastico sistema di illuminazione e il colpo d'occhio di certe aree di gioco, entrambi (nella maggior parte dei casi) superiori a quelli visti negli ultimi Uncharted. A questa bellezza si oppone un ENORME (ma mai discusso) downgrade delle texture e della densità poligonale di certi elementi degli scenari, soprattutto negli spazi chiusi. Qualità dei riflessi decente e pop-up moderato. Per quanto riguarda le animazioni ci si attesta sicuramente su livelli molto alti, rappresentando queste ultime l'unico vero e significativo passo in avanti compiuto dal comparto tecnico.
    Voto: 7,5/10.

    TRAMA
    Onde evitare di offendere qualcuno, meglio essere brevi. Non c'è ragione al mondo di portare su schermo scene come quelle che si sono viste in Parte 2, a prescindere dall'obiettivo che il team di sviluppo tenta di raggiungere. Qui non si parla di una critica rivolta esclusivamente al gioco, ma anche a quei film e serie TV che fanno eccessiva leva su scene di sesso spinte. Insomma, esistono dei siti apposta per questo, o sbaglio? La chimica sviluppatasi tra Ellie e Dina o tra Abby e Owen avrebbe potuto tranquillamente rimanere invariata, anche senza la presenza di queste scene decisamente SUPERFLUE. Neil Druckmann intendeva far uscire il videogioco dalla sua "gabbia" di puro intrattenimento, rendendo la sua creazione più simile a qualche opera della settima arte? Beh, allora ha scelto di implementare proprio gli aspetti peggiori di quest'ultima, all'interno del suo gioco. Per non parlare di altre scene che legittimano l'uso di stupefacenti. Anche questo fa parte della vostra tanto ambita politica "progressista"? Al di là di queste specifiche scene, la trama risulta piuttosto povera, tuttavia il gioco guadagna un punto grazie alla sua ottima narrazione. Le tematiche trattate possono sembrare giuste o sbagliate a seconda del pensiero politico che si ha nei confronti del movimento LGBT, tuttavia queste ultime sono riportate in maniera esagerata, malata, distorta ed eccessivamente ostentata.
    Voto: 4/10 (a essere generosi).

    GAMEPLAY
    Punto focale del gioco, oltre che aspetto erroneamente meno pubblicizzato. Parte 2 porta con sè una serie di innovazioni significative come il nuovo sistema di stealth analogico e la rete di relazioni sociali tra i nemici. Fortunatamente, quasi tutto il gameplay del primo capitolo viene riproposto, e ancor più fortunatamente viene anche ampliato. Vengono introdotti nuovi nemici infetti, oltre che delle vere e proprie unità cinofile. Nuovo sistema di progressione delle abilità e delle armi (che ora include anche una serie di modifiche visibili graficamente), molto più efficaci rispetto a quelli del primo capitolo. Introdotti anche un maggior numero di armi e fasi esplorative molto più libere e profonde, che tuttavia mantengono una ricchezza di contenuti invidiabile, oltre che una serie di aree esplorabili in via del tutto facoltativa. Introdotti numerosi nuovi collezionabili e "puzzle game" da risolvere. Se si potesse dare 11 al gameplay, lo si farebbe.
    Voto: 10/10.

    AMBIENTAZIONE
    Sempre molto ricca, varia e, a modo suo, dettagliata. L'ambientazione principale è Seattle, che già meriterebbe parecchio per via della mancanza di sue rappresentazioni nel panorama videoludico. Al di là di questo, comunque, la città viene rappresentata in maniera egregia e fedele, mostrandosi in una eccellente versione post apocalittica, in cui la natura inizia a riprendersi ciò che gli spetta. Che si tratti dello stato di Washington e dei suoi edifici coperti di vegetazione, o delle montagne del Wyoming, l'atmosfera di disperazione e abbandono che Naughty Dog tenta di rappresentare è sempre presente e opprimente. Una delle migliori ambientazioni/atmosfere presenti nel mondo dei videogiochi.
    Voto: 9/10.

    Quindi: (7,5 + 4 + 10 + 9) / 4 = 7,6.

    Questo è il voto che spetta a The Last of Us Parte 2: non 10 e nemmeno 3.

    The Last of Us Part 2 made me cry twice. I dont cry when I play videogames, and have not cried in years. Playing the first game is an absolute must before playing this one. #TheLastofUsPartII  is something special. Game of the year, game if the decade, and better than the first!

    A masterpiece on every level that raises the bar how video games should be made - without apologies or catering to fans. Naughty Dog told the story they wanted to tell, knowing some would hate it and that is what we need more of today. From the graphics to the voice acting to the incredible performances, this game is truly something special.

An extension to the greatest game of its generation, butchered by a narrative dependent on shock value and cheap tricks that illustrate genuine contempt for the relationship of the original characters from which the greatness of the original is built.

    To their credit, the writers display immense confidence in their ability to manipulate an audience and to that effect they succeed. If the goal was to develop a harrowing experience that truly reflected the cycle of revenge in a post-apocalyptic work, they succeed unquestionably.

    Where I believe they fail is a fundamental misunderstanding of the human condition and perhaps even an underestimation of the profound impact of their game on so so many of their player base. We are well aware that Joel's actions in the first game are self-centred, shallow, brash and immoral beyond belief. Therefore, we also understand the reaction of certain characters in the sequel. In fact, empathising with these characters is very easy. I suspect in the years writers spent creating these new characters they developed an attachment and empathy for them that is simply not present in players. We fell in love with two characters and learned to accept them for all their misgivings and their flaws. I seldom think there exists plot devices or writing techniques that would have lessened our affiliation with Joel and Ellie to the point where we are willing to accept her final decision. I also believe there will be far less contentiousness about the morality of her final decision as there was with Joel's final decision at the end of the original. It rather feels like a final **** you' to Joel and a mockery of what he was willing to do for Ellie.

    Unfortunately, the success of the first game meant a sequel needed to be about Ellie. This game is not about Ellie. By the time this game is over, it has decimated its original cast and completely tarnished the message it brutally attempted to deliver throughout the entirety of the game. For although the 'cycle of violence' has been broken, there is no tangible benefit from Ellie's growth and in fact the message this game sends, upon further reflection, is perhaps that Joel's self-centred, shallow, brash and immoral methodologies depicted in the first game were necessary. That game concludes with Joel as perhaps a villain, but a winner nonetheless. For all of Ellie's growth as this second story comes to a crescendo, her character development causes her more suffering than adopting original Joel's 'kill-or-be-killed' approach. Further, the tangible softening of Joel in this saga would have been believable and welcomed, given 4 years of interacting with Ellie. It also would've been an excellent trait in a secondary character. Unfortunately, it appears to have been paired with an unexplainable development of an unprecedented trust in strangers that is horrendously uncharacteristic.

    The few bright spots in the first game are gone, replaced by a never-ending bleakness that is robbed of at least a satisfying conclusion. Obviously, the confidence of the writers somewhere along the line crossed into hubris and what I'm sure to them feels like a 'mic-drop' moment falls well short of what could've been a redeeming ending. The actual ending that appears in the game also appears to undermine the message it tries to enforce throughout. Ellie evidently finally understands the not-so-subtle lesson her journey has been trying to illustrate and demonstrates genuine growth. Somehow, the writers decide not to reward her for this and it is unbelievably those who enacted their revenge that find themselves with a satisfying conclusion, while Ellie and the player are left alone in a still lake - cold, in pain and heartbroken.    … Expand

The characters don't grow, they act illogically, generally come out as unlikable and seem to be wrapped in a plot armor 10 inch thick. The comparisons with fan-fiction levels of writing are actually one hundred percent spot-on. I'm not even going to talk about the controversial agenda pushing that's going on, I'm sure everyone has already made their picture about that.
    The other bad part is the combat. Naughty Dog has never been famous for their combat systems. However, as combat is a VERY integral part of this game (more so than in the first one, dare i say), the issues only rise in prominence and often you'll question yourself "what the **** just happened?" or "did the camera/auto-targetting/glitches (yes, the game has some minor glitches in the enemy AI) just decide to **** me over?". The combat and crawling through maps looking for hidden resources is fun a while, but gets repetitive and annoying very quickly and it only gets worse as the game goes on.

    If you've loved the original The Last of Us because of its combat, you're going to be happy with this game. If you¨ve enjoyed it for its story or characters, you're in for a very unpleasant surprise. Save your 60$, buy on sale if you want to try.    … Expand

    Absolutely amazing game, I was unsure if the story would be bad because of the leaks but it turns out that the leaks are not even a fraction of the game itself!

    It is the best game i have ever played.Great graphics,an awesome plot,and many other great stuff.The critics this game has been receiveing are non sense.Are people really complaining about the differences between the first and second plot?The second game is about anger and vengeance,the first one is about LOVE.Of course this was going to be a tense gameplay.

    At first.. i avoided the spoilers just because i liked the first game.. and i wanted to try the second so i can gave it a fair try and judge it myself.. but damn now i wish i haven't played nether of these games..
    I wonder what's gonna happen to Naughty Dog and Niel Cockmann now..

    the writing is appalling, maybe if you didnt play the first game than this one is alright. But as a sequal this game is really really bad. They had 7 years for this and couldnt have done a worse job. Dont buy the game, watch someones playthrough and be happy you didnt spend money on it. Season 8 Game of Thrones all over again.

    First of all, let's start with the positive points: The game is technically successful, even though it's downgraded from the first teaser. The environments are varied and teeming with details. The animations, especially the faces, are a success.

    Concerning the gameplay, it is rather dated. It suffers from exactly the same problems as the first one, but we are in 2020. A certain slowness is perceptible and the gunfights are very soft. The puzzles presented along the game are very simplistic, one often wonders about their usefulness. The game is of course extremely scripted and full of QTE, which quickly becomes tiresome / annoying.

    Let's get to the most annoying point: The storyline. If the first one was an example in terms of writing, taking all the prizes on its way, TLOU 2 is far from taking the same path. And that's a HUGE problem, because the game is presented above all as a kind of interactive film. Unlike the first one, I didn't feel any attachment to the characters and their stories. There is no sense of identification, no empathy that emerges during this adventure. The player watches the story from a distance, like a boat capsizing. The only perceptible feeling was regret, regret for having spent 60 bucks on this game. I don't even want to talk about the end, which clearly deliver the final blow to me.

    The Last Of Us Part II, grabs this concept, especially in the trailers selling the game that we will see the continuation of this premise, but in the end was all a manipulation from the marketing team, and probably in the future will have some legal repercussions.

    It's true that every human being has different points of view, but for me it's unthinkable what they did to the story of this sequel. Some people are defending it was bold and risky, but for me was a simple act of butchering one of the most acclaimed franchises of the Playstation family.

    In the end this game could be a 9 or a 10 if it wasn’t a sequel, but that not being the case, I think it’s the first big disappointment from Naughty Dog, for that my score only reflects the hard work and crunching from everyone involved and actors, because they don’t deserve the hate of the choices that were made by the story board department.    … Expand

Not the mention the downgrades from the earlier trailers, which is a PS4 tradition at this point. Even if we ignore the turbulent leaks and the ruthlessness of the direction towards the developers, this game is mediocre, so much so it bleeds its mediocrity into the first game. What a waste.
    The only thing praiseworthy is the effort made by the developers to technically support this drama show, and the art direction.    … Expand

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
