People that keep saying “this game is realistic” “Joel and tommy has softened” or “joel killed Abbys father.” Purposely love to forget that Joel was to left a family on the side of the road behind to save his own family so what sense does it make for him and tommy to immediately save Abby in the middle of a bunch of infected risking their own lives almost? She should’ve died right there and only there, Joel and tommy both survived multiple occasions separated or together for 20 damn years and are basically survival experts next to ellie who Joel taught how to swim, and not to be trusting with others and you can see that when she refused to give her name to David. If they had softened they wouldn’t forget automatically their survival instincts they’ve learned for 20 years and had rested 5 years still going on searches out for infected and resources you don’t just forget stuff like that! Last but not least **** abbys dad, Abby is nothing but a oc off a badly written fanfiction and her dAd was willing to kill ellie without permission all for a cure that wouldn’t even work? All **** and those who defend this game do it because it’s on main media and are a bunch of sheep or out of pure spite.… Expand

    It's just amazing how this game makes you feel even if you are playing through it again.
    Hopefully Naughty Dog don't restrict their creativity because of a small community of haters.
    Unpopular Opinion: I feel this game is way better than God of War 2018.

    Ignore the low scores. All of them.

    This game is absolutely fantastic, an incredible follow-up to the original. The common complaints against this are entirely juvenile and petty and mostly from chuds online trying to puff themselves up bigger than they are.

    Altogether, it’s a meticulously designed and extremely detailed world. It has fluid mechanics and animations. Beautiful environments and some of the best looking graphics of the generation. The gameplay is good. It’s just missing something. It leaves the player feeling particularly empty. By design, I’m not sure.

    Sincerely was hesitant on playing this game since I loved the first one so much. I must have played the original one over 4-5 times and it is something special to me. Finally decided to give this one a shot even though I had read some spoilers. I’m simply blown away in every way!     One of the best games i have ever played. The emotions what game gives....I'm speechles. I loved it more than 1 st part. I give it 10/10. Story was amazing, atmosphere beyond perfect ,music good and all overal perfect. Thanks for the game !!

    Probably a 5 some days. It goes back and forth. The graphics and gameplay are so smooth it’s butter but the story is an absolute drag. The pacing is horrendous and the characters are all done so poorly it doesn’t feel like the same group that made the first game. It’s a disjointed nightmare. I wish I could forget about this story and save my humble imagination about what could happened. Total crap and piece of shame represented through lgbt. It just don't have any idea except promotion of strong girls. Through all game there no more fear of zombie apocalypse, it is clear that people can handle with decease, no willing to survive in difficult circumstances, just one stupid revenge inherited from another even more stupider revenge and all story ended without any purpose or just a little logic. Not shown why Ellie gone for it, but shown why she shouldn't. Not shown what she had reached, but shown that she lost everything for granting enemy a life. What happened with Ellie? She had just turned from strong person to silly boy in moment or just tired to hide her apathy to Joel? And what about another "protagonist"? A murder and a moral monster turned into saint because what. First time she put up about dozen of people, and when they all die it became not so really personal to hit back. Such poor stupid script. Just a comic to all silly men (by the way all man characters are rather died or made disabled) how lesbian woman are strong (by the way survived only lesbians). Okay you are great, maybe, but please make a bold mark on the game "don't buy, if you care". I feel shame not for sex orientation of main characters, but for stupidness of all picture, it's just empty, also as my even slightest expectations of any kind interesting story. Now I'm certain in further plans - sell (better burn) this sh#t and try to forget like bad dream.… Expand

It has amazing graphics and a beautiful soundtrack for fans of guitars. The most controversial part of the game is its story, in my opinion its nothing to special, it has extremely beautiful moments like when Joel and Ellie are in the museum, but It also has many faults. Killing of Joel early in the game was a mistake in my opinion, as I very much would have wanted to spend more time with him, as even the one time you do is the best part of the game.     First half is excellent. The wind left it’s sails about half the way through. A few adjustments to the game and I would have rated it 9/10. Sadly, a few poorly conceived elements made it a 5/10 experience.

God this game :c sense I was a child I loved the last of us great game never really got to buy it but I watched the same gameplay several times and it was the best, I was so exited when I say that part 2 coming out but... Because of this game it hurts my heart to hear the name the last of us. Now the gameplay is great really sticks to the gameplay of the first game but with new stuff plus the Amazing gráfics and world. But the thing that I loved the most was the story. And thus game ruined it. They killed one of the most beloved video games character and one of my favourites (also tortured him) and Ellie really changed a lot and I guess it's trying to show us that people change and there's nothing to do about it but killing Joel and The end with Ellie:'c I hated the story so much that at the end I am not lying u cried because I really hated it not only that if you wanna finish the game you have to play as the girl who killed Joel WHY poor Ellie this game really Opened a whole in my heart.
    I will miss Joel so much and hearing that the last of us is gonna get a series just makes me want to cry cause I don't feel like I want to hear anything about this game after part 2 (sorry for bad English)    … Expand

    En su apartado técnico y visual, se trata de un producto con gráficos increíbles y buenas mecánicas de juego, PERO, en detrimento de la calificación del mismo, se trata de una historia muy superficial, con un final tremendamente malísimo, pero sobre todo decepcionante para los fans del juego anterior. A título personal, solo se lo recomiendo a los que no sean fans de TLOU I.

Dodge mechanic is very good and also gunplay is so satisfying and enjoyable. I think nobody liked it but my opinion the scenario is so good and gripping. Honestly the last of us was a masterpiece and I don't believe the last of us 2 is bad by any mean, if I was talking overall I would of gave it a 6 out of 10 even a 7 out of 10 but because of the way they portray characters we loved from the last games and how the revenge story was not complete, obviously it's nice to see Ellie turn away from murdering but when you realise how many people she had killed up to this point and how Abbie ruined her life, this is what ruined it for me aswell as Sony shutting down opinions on the game, it was disgusting.… Expand

But I had to finish it, ive played the first game 5 times, that game was balanced , the areas you search only took one or two minutes and you moved on, combat and puzzles were more frequent and infinently more satisfying.
    As I moved through the highly detailed but miserable looking world of THOU2 I was very rarely taken back by the visuals, thanks to the gross and horribly thick Grain/film filter pasted over the screen. The game looks ugly even at the times it shouldn't, considering all the accessibility options , why was there no option to remove the horrid Grain filter. Which brings me to my next point, WTF is there no option to adjust the Dead Zone for aiming. The dead zone in the game is HUGE,. Even as I was begging for some combat to break up the monotonous of this game I knew it would be clunky and unsatisfying after every encounter, but, barly 10% of the game is combat.
    Lastly but defiantly not least in the Story, oh man , what a joke, what an absolute blunder. Its just ridiculous, its messy, motivations and consequences are just stupid. Obviously cant explain why, cause spoilers, but this is easily the stupidest story ive ever experienced and I finished Death Stranding.
    Some will say no game deserve a 3 , especially a game that has had so much money thrown at it and has few bugs and stuff. But IMO thats exactly the reason this game deserves a 3, literally the only things that works in this game are the things money can buy, graphics and bug fixes. Where ever talent is required like in creating good gameplay and a good story this game fails miserably. I actively hated playing this game. A 5 is a game that entertains me ever if it dosent blow me away and anything lower is a game that repels me. The graphics look great, the gameplay is fun and better and you can explore more then in the first game (there are more types of zombies than in the first).     I didn't like the direction they went with the story (mostly predictable). But it is a direction you can go. In the last few hours of the game you're exhausted because of it and hope it can just be over already. It's got some forced political agenda in it, but it's not that bad as most claim. Think they handled it (LGBTQ part) pretty well.

    Without going in too many details its not a game I would replay and I don't think it has good replay value. I think they focused too much about bringing out an idea (besides the political agenda) and focused to few on making the game fun to play, which is what I'd and I think most look for in a game.

    All with all it is definitely not the best game I've ever played, don't think it would be in my top 10 tbf. But it's worth a try even though its quite different compared to the first one.

    Considera que si vas a comprar este juego, estás comprando una historia, historia que está perfectamente escrita de principio a fin, personajes memorables, escenarios impecables y muy bien construidos.

    Sin embargo, son 2 Los aspectos que en mi opinión no le dieron el 10 a mi puntuación jaja

    1. Un punto algo contradictorio pero destacable. El juego no ofrece nada nuevo. Las mecánicas y el sistema de juego es exactamente el mismo, sin embargo eso me deja pensando en lo bien construidas y pensadas que estaban las mecánicas desde el primer juego que, de cualquier forma... Tras varias horas de juego, se convierte un poco tedioso y pesado seguir jugando. Pero como ya lo mencioné antes, en lo que estás gastando tu dinero es en una historia.

    2. Un grave error de narrativa y la que considero la única crítica válida de los usuarios; la muerte de Joel. Que fue tan simple y poco digna, hizo que se opacara el transcurso de la historia, haciéndome cuestionar a lo largo del juego, "¿Cómo es que eso no pudo haber pasado antes?".

    Cómo sea, está es una obra impecable que no merece el odio de los usuarios, usuarios ingenuos que priorizan cosas que no se relacionan con el juego. De cualquier forma yo seguiré esperando ansiosamente TLoU3.    … Expand

    In my opinion, this game is beautifully crafted. Amazing world, nature, and locations, it's hard to imagine a better visualization of this universe. I rarely pay attention to the soundtrack and sound effects, but in this game, they are very well done.

    Ok, but not everything is perfect. I definitely can agree with many other players, that Ellie and Joel's plot has been ruined. I loved the story from TLOU 1. But killing Joel at the beginning wasn't the best decision. Anyway, I think I could deal with his death, but the much worse thing they did is this sick revenge story of Ellie... that doesn't fit her personality.

    In the beginning, I was feeling the same as Ellie - we should rip off Abby's head, but at that moment I was thinking Ellie doesn't know what Joel did to her father. But later it turned out she did know, which made the whole vendetta sick. Joel killed with cold blood Abby's father. Ellie should at least try to understand her motives and feeling. Instead of dealing with it or at least trying, she decided to be a sick lesbian-rambo-psycho killing tons of fully-armed enemies, sacrificing her friends and relationship, just to chase the rabbit which in the end she didn't even kill. Not mentioning how unrealistic is that a single girl can kill whole armies without any troubles.

    The plot is unnatural, she confronted Abby twice, two times Abby speared her life (and Dina's), and Ellie didn't even think for a second that maybe it's enough, that maybe Abby felt the same as she's feeling now. That they are equal now, both "dads" are dead. Instead, she behaves like a psycho, she can't even sleep without killing people.

    And LGBT... I have nothing against LGBT when it's pictured naturally. Not like a forced bullet-list: lesbian checked, two lesbians having baby checked, bi-girl checked, interracial relationship checked, transgender kid checked, male-like girl checked. Come on... even Nextflix is not going that far in a single production...

    Ok, that's enough about the plot. The second bad thing is the gameplay (at least part of it). The first 10 hours were super boring, all the time the same: we need to go somewhere, oh nooo the path is blocked let's try to go through this building, loot loot loot, oh noooo spores, sneaking/killing, cutscene, repeat for 10h without many variations. Mostly the same type of enemies, attacks, etc.

    That's why to me Abby's plot was more interesting. It was more varied, more interesting locations, crazy people in the woods, burning villages, walking in the clouds, etc. Reasonable psychological transformation.

    Combining all together, I think this game is a decent 7/10. The mechanic could be better, the locations could be more interesting and the plot could be better written. Definitely not a 0-score game even if you don't like the plot because of the emotional bond with TLOU 1.    … Expand

    First of all, I didn't had the chance to play the first part because I did not own a PlayStation since PS2. Now that I got one, I played both games. And I kinda don't understand why people are so mad at the game, reviewing the story as week and the characters are poor developed.

    I know the game try hard to "humanize" Abby, and the motives that made her search for revenge etc. But for me, the plot itself is just what could happen in the real world. I mean, everyone has their motives and a line of thought that made they try the best they can to achieve an objective. Joel was a "bad man" for a lot of people, as he was good for a lot of people too. But he kinda was selfish doing what he did to save Ellie.

    He could die in a lot of ways. I see how bold the game was, not giving him a memorable death, beautiful speeches and cutscenes etc. His death was cruel as the world of TLOU is. As a lot of other characters too.

    Anyway, this game is a masterpiece for me. Because it's bold, unpredictable and as close to reality as possible.    … Expand

When you boot it up and play as Ellie for the first 12 hours you are in the same boat as her, blinded by rage and excuse the careless actions which only result in the constant threat of death, not only to you but to your companions also. But then you switch over to Abby and at first your not open to her but when you realize that she’s haunted by her actions against Joel, when she starts loosing these people we mowed down as Ellie, then you start to sympathize with her and get caught in these peoples problems. people are mad at this game but don’t know why they’re mad, obviously people we’re attached to Joel and killing him off was a really strong introduction to this game, and really that’s the only reason, when they complain about the story being messy it’s a pain to listen to because you clearly didn’t get the intentions of the game. Abby is the Joel in her last of us story, if you were to play last of us 1 as Abby and her dad only to have that ripped from you with the death of Abbys dad, then you would’ve wanted revenge on the crazy old man who came and took that from you. This is a stunning narrative which focuses on redemption, falling into darkness and feeling hatred for someone just to break out of the cycle, through the realization that these actions will not bring them back. “Revenge is a luxury we cannot afford”, revenge is the reason Ellie lost Jesse, Her fingers, And almost lost Dina all ending up to Ellie loosing herself, Revenge is the reason Abby lost her friends, because in the world that is the last of us, one hateful act births another. 10/10… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So ill start the review by saying my official rating for the game is 7/10, now why does it say 10/10 then. Honestly I am doing it to even out the bombing that happend at the release of this game for when people were jumping on the train and hating on this game before it even was released and writing negative reviews despite having painstakingly obviously not played the game or atleast even come close to finishing it.

    The game is not perfect in anyway in terms of story, it has more ploteholes / plotarmor than the first game, but for people saying its only a LGBTQ agenda being pushed I assume you have never played the game, and its a disrespect to the animation, gameplay and art/music team. All of whom have outdone themself, its handsdown the best looking game on the current console only next to RDR2. The animations are perfect, infact never done better. Every hit feels inpactful, the facial masking in cutscenes are flawless it makes it fun to appriciate even if just for face-value, even if you did give the story a 0/10.
    The music (when playing, lacked abit more music) was perfect, better than the first game, despite it doing a good job there aswell.

    Now what drags it down some points from me, if gameplay, music, and animations imo are all perfect, its the story. Yes the story, the story that everyone so much hated and some still hate (alot of which have not played the game, and takes people's word for it).

    I am not saying you are wrong, in not liking this game's story, we all have our opinion, and I personally think it did a worse job than the first game. That being said its not a 0/10, its more a 5/10, if you think of it critically and not from a bias of how you feel about the characters after having played the first game. The main issue i have with the story is not where it went, but rather how unbelievable the motivation and actions of some characters are.

    Example 1: Tommy despite being much like Joel in how he treats strangers with informationm gives up both his and his brother's name to a group of people he dont know anything about who have them in a small room outnumbered 10:2 (ish).

    Example 2: Tommy leaving before Ellie despite being the one trying to make her stay, and even if he was talking through his wife it still makes no sense for him to leave before Ellie rather than coming with her, as he knew she was going with or without him, this only puts both at risk and lowers the chances of succsess.

    Example 3: Ellie despite having life handed to her on a silver platter (when living on the farm), tho dealing with PTSD dont have believable motivation to go back after Abby after having been hammered by "revenge bad x10000 times" so far at that point in the story.

    Example 4: Tommy coming back to Ellie's home and reigniting the lead to Abby despite being the one who tried to talk her out of going in the first place. Now that he knows it would be better for Ellie to stay and work things out he takes a complete 180 and guilts her into going because he is hurt and cant do it himself.

    Example 5: Dina acts like she is a woman who have been widowed multiple times before, when Ellie leaves the second time and leaves her no home to return. I get trying to stop her from going (her going already makes no sense), but why let her not have a home when returning, I thought it would be an empty threat as then it would've made sense.

    Plot holes although many, I can ignore to an extent if it results in a overall good story, but what really got me despite it being a powerfull ending was how pointless it all felt.
    The entire game has hammered "revenge bad, but doing it anyway" to a point where you just stop caring as Ellie has already saccrifcied everything twice over when going after Abby the second time, but only then does she decide not to kill her. I get why she stops, but holy hell, how many times did this story beat your head with revenge bad, for only the end of the game stop with Ellie being left with nothing and all characters dying for nothing. Its a powerfull story, but not a likeable one.

    I wanne sign the review of by saying, despite the story getting worse the more you overthink it,
    it is in my opinion the best way a game has ever told a story, despite it not being the best.

    From how seemless gameplay cuts into cutscenes to facial animation and voice acting being done perfectly it makes it so immersive that it makes you carefully follow the whole story, and really engages you in the characters and their actions especially Ellie, so even if the story is mediocre it feels like a rollercoaster when experiencing it, and for that I would say its a mustplay, atleast until Naughtydog releases another game like it.    … Expand

    Part 2 is really enjoyable, but doesn't quite hit the mark that the first did. I felt like I was being compelled to like the characters, even though I didn't. The story showed horrific actions of one group, then later tried to make you connect with them. When certain people died, the game wanted you to sympathize for them, but really I couldn't have cared less. I know it sounds like I'm a hollow human being, and there are two sides to every story, but that is the problem with rushing character development. When you've connected with the original characters for so long in a masterfully done game, only for new forced connections to be made, it just makes you roll your eyes and trudge through the rest in order to get closure.

    I like to dwell for a while after completing story driven works. Part 2, in many ways does not make sense. I get the direction the writers were going, but I honestly do not believe people would act in the way that they did in the game. Multiple times I had a suspension of disbelief, only to look back at what happened and realize that it didn't make sense.

    It breaks my heart to write this, but I really did not expect such a poor story after all these years of waiting. While there were a few genuinely good moments, majority of game filled up with plot holes. It just took elements of what worked for the first game without understanding what made them compelling.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
