    One of the best games of this generation !!! Starting from gameplay to story telling they managed to surpass once again my expectations! Well done Naughty Dog.

    Game and graphics is just one of the best things I've ever seen In my life (and I'm a Pc player), you can kill an enemy and watch his face while you're staving a knife over him (THAT kind of detail).

    About the plot, I didn't care too much about what people said that game is just made to make LGTBI happy and all that.... you don't really care too much about that when you are enjoying    Game and graphics is just one of the best things I've ever seen In my life (and I'm a Pc player), you can kill an enemy and watch his face while you're staving a knife over him (THAT kind of detail).

    About the plot, I didn't care too much about what people said that game is just made to make LGTBI happy and all that.... you don't really care too much about that when you are enjoying yourself killing and surviving with Ellie or even Abby. Story is very well written but is an adult and kind of sad story (as one of the best movies you've seen)... Naugthy Dog made one of a hell violent game but with a price... so they decided to make players think about deep stuff as revenge... or losing someone special.

    10/10 for me , Ellie is one of the most human characters you can find out there.
    And if you don't like the plot it's still lot of fun to play    … Expand

    A worthy successor to one of the best games ever made. I kept myself totally spoiler free and it was my most memorable gaming experience since part one. It’s a very rough ride, but well worth seeing to the end. It’s a mature game and I would not recommend it to anyone underage.

    Anyway, highly recommended to give this an honest chance!

It was cool to show the problem from different perspectives, to make the need to kill Abby not black or white, but all that the creators achieved is my compassion and love to Abby and a strong need to kill that teenage brat Ellie as soon as possible. By going into retrospective mode you give the plotline a wider meaning, but a retrospective of the whole game from Abby's point of view makes you bored and the problem is you already know she's gonna survive since well, it's a retrospective. You know who lives and who dies for 59% of the game. The seraphins? Just a pothole filler. No need for them in the game. Wasted potential of a cult. It exists and dont ask questions. Did Abby seriously not kill Ellie because a child was sad looking at it? Why did nobody die at the end? They've killed so many characters that I became immune to care about any of them. The games mechanics is pretty much the same as in previous part but that's ok - we play Naughty Dog productions for plot. Which sucks. There's too many stupid encounters. You kill 20 people jump out of the window and there's 20 again. After Abby's day 2 I started to not care and just run. What's the point of dogs or arrows stuck in players body? They came up in maybe two scenes just to irritate the heck out of me and be gone. How come Ellie can kill a clicker silently no probs and the Arnold/Abbie NEEDS A GOD DAMN SHIV?! Why change mechanics for different characters? I'm pissed off because of the guys with machetes and axes. He kills you with a single blow, no need to run - he hits you with 3m range. How many times I can't even count I got killed by a guy hitting me in the face with simple fists because he got me cornered and I can't run. There's boss fights in too small areas where you have problems to run, turn around, aim and shoot because before you even start aiming - you are already being eaten by a big zombie. There's too many scenes 'oopsie I'm coming out of the window and somebody out of nowhere attacks me or the ground underneath me is gone.' dozens of them god damn it. I really hope that if there ever will be part 3 it's going to be about Abby and Ellie is going to be 6 feet underground. I don't care about LGBTQ+ perspective in games as long as it's well made and with a point. it makes sense. Ellie being lesbian? Okay, fine, cool idea. Raising a child together? oK, that's life. Cool. That scar kid? That felt unnecessary and pointed out just to smile to some people. Highly disappointed the plot Leaves you at the starting point minus some people.… Expand

Killing Joel in the first 2 hours was supposed to make you angry and make you feel how Ellie was feeling. The gameplay is amazing and is very satisfying. Having you play as Abby in the second half of the game is supposed to make you feel bad for Abby and see that what Joel did was not heroic. He wiped the fireflys out to save one person. The only thing I have against it is forcing you to play as Abby in the first fight between Abby and Ellie… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story is so well thought out. I enjoyed the parallels between both the first game and Part 2. What happened to Joel was was happened to Sarah in the first game except now it was someone we loved that we lost. Joel is far from perfect and we see that Ellie is no different and it takes a lot before she realises that she has to let something go otherwise it will drive her to madness. It happened right at the end before that realisation came and we had to witness it and it makes you realise that you yourself have gotten caught up in the idea of revenge that it's disappointing to not see Abby get what she deserves. Even after learning her reasoning behind killing Joel. That's life and it sucks. Sometimes you have to just let it go.

    The gameplay is much improved from the first game and the combat and inventory management is so much better. The world itself feels fuller and the infected are somehow even scarier. I think the Audio in the game is amazing and it helps make it more scarier.

    Playing as Abby is very jarring, especially once you get to Ellie. So much confliction. I can't wait for my second playthrough.    … Expand

The exploration on each minute character tells their own story and you get to see that. Whether you're reading a note from a broken family or hearing your enemies scream in anguish as their closest friends since the outbreak just got slashed to death. To having to survive and killing any human, animal or infected to survive, you can really immersive yourself in it. The fluidity of the combat and the agility of your character is something I greatly valued in this game. The new ways of surviving and utilising the equipment you have at your disposal is very refreshing and strategic too. I couldn't of wanted more in a game, and I am keen to see where things go from here.… Expand

    While not quite the perfect game the first one was, this still shaped out to be a very worthy successor. Go into it with an open mind, ignore the hate (because most of it is from people who haven't played), and get ready for a rollercoaster ride of a game.

But for me, its just down my alley. This is a game YOU need to experience. To give your own judgement. Not **** on it based on some leaks. At the end of the day its the most pre-ordered and best selling PS4 exclusive of all time with more than 4 million copies sold in the first 3 days of release. I think that says a lot. If you dont wanna buy it, at least borrow it from a friend. Its worth a try. Oh and also, if you want to see real ratings go on the PS Store. Where you can only rate a game ONLY IF YOU BOUGHT IT!! I don't get why many people are mad at how they killed Joel. Joel is never a good guy. Ellie believed in the fireflies the whole life, but Joel took that away from her. I like Joel for his will and power to do what he believes is right, but that doesn't mean he should have a happy ending. As of Abby, I bet few even finished the second half of the game. She has a sophisticated and well-developed character. Not immediately likable, but deserves better than this wide criticism.… Expand

    Truly a worthy sequel. Improves on the gameplay and mechanics of the first game in so many ways. Glad to see a big franchise taking risks in the narrative and personally I loved the direction they took with the story, although some people may find it too raw. It's a shame it's getting review-bombed all over because it's truly a great game to play, even if you're not a fan of the story.

    The first game honestly first time playing through was life changing and I have loved the game ever since. I have been non stop thinking about the release of the second game and honestly it did not disappoint. I loved it all the way through and once again the game made me feel something I don’t feel often.

    Really enjoyed this game. Great story that follows on well from the previous game and takes some big risks. New gameplay elements were awesome and introduced slowly meaning the game never got dull. Some awesome scenes that were very exciting. Cause that's what TLOU Part 2 is: the real world, with real people, in a post apocalyptic view. And just like the real world, no one is immortal. We're all human beings and our lives could be cut short in any moment. "But the entire story is just non sensical! I mean, all of this just to get revenge and in the end, Ellie lets Abby go? That's **** Yeah, because I'm sure that if a person you loved was killed like that in front of your eyes you would take a break and veeeery calmly come up with a plan on how to get your revenge. Surely you wouldn't act on impulse, pushed by the hate, no no. And in case you didn't notice, the more time passes, the more Ellie realizes that she wasn't doing the right thing, especially after the fight in the theater, where Abby spares her (and Dina) for the second time. But then, convinced by Tommy, she wants to go find Abby again, and in the final battle she understand that her sleepless nights were not due to Abby being alive, but on how her relationship with Joel ended. Ellie will never be able to tell Joel that she was sorry for how she treated him and for what she told him. That's why she lets Abby go. Killing her wouldn't have solved anything. Plus, the Abby gameplay was crucial to the story, to make you understand her point of view; to make you understand that neither Ellie nor Abby are right or wrong. Every hero is someone else's villain, remember that. Now that I took this out of my chest, what can I say about the game? Truly a masterpiece.… Expand

Graphics, animation and details are the most important advantages of the game. The plot is very good. He made me feel completely different emotions: fear, hatred, anger, sadness and tears, joy. The first part of the game is very happy with what is happening, but by the second half of the game for Abby I was not used to it from the beginning, I had to freeze myself to play for some time. But then I fell in love with the second half as well as the first. The boss fight in the hospital is so awesome that I haven’t admired such things in games for a long time. The end also leaves a lot of things to think about, just like the first part. This game is an undeservedly criticized masterpiece. 10/10 Game of the Year… Expand

It allows you to use crafted items/ammo more often than in TLOU 1. It seems enemies no longer drop the ammo you are currently using which helps a bit with immersion. There still are pretty much the same limits on ammo and items you can carry. While it is slightly illogical it helps to keep the survival tension very real throughout the game.

    Graphics are absolutely amazing and breathtaking. Animations are so smooth and fluid. It makes it really hard to go back to play other PS4 titles. This really looks and feels like next gen. The amount of detail in the world you go through in this game is also really incredible.

    Sound and music is also top notch. Really helps with the immersion.

    Story is the divisive one. I personally loved it, but as you can see from the user score and some youtuber reviews, not everyone did. But for me it was an emotional rollercoaster and i enjoyed it for most of the journey.

    Conclusion: I highly recommend anyone to play this game and if you do want to play it try to avoid any spoilers. I enjoyed the game a lot and have to congratulate Naughty Dog on an amazing game.    … Expand

Each character has their own name, and seeing how people react to the deaths around them made each character feel much more human. Even the dogs have names and I feel terrible after each one I take down. And the ways the enemies get smarter after each kill is amazing. Then there's the story. Never has any story brought me so much emotion like this game has. It brings you to the extreme hatred after Joel is killed, then you start to sympathize with the killer.     I still feel that the first game is better, narrative-wise, but gameplay was improved throughout.

    From animations to gunplay and especially the semi-open world areas. The narrative, although a simple revenge story, does confront the player with quite a horrific question. Is revenge justifiable?

    What an amazing game ! After seeing a lot of bad review I thought I wouldn't enjoy the game but I was 100% wrong. I was in tears at the end and the entire game is a masterpiece to me

    A walking simulator with a terrible story. I'm not sure what went wrong between the first game and this one. The game-play is also outdated and a bit boring to be honest.

Кто не играл, но ценит по истине великолепные эксклюзивы Sony и шедевральность разработки Naughty Dog, тоже! Представьте, что всё, что было хорошего в 1 части, помножили на 100. Тут не хватит места, чтобы описать, насколько игра шикарная. Лучше один раз увидеть... Если бы было можно, поставил бы 500/5... Сказал бы я, если бы поиграл только в половину игры. Во вторую половину игры меня ждал "приятный" сюрприз. Оказывается, что нужно пол игры играть за Эбби, на которую мне в принципе изначально насрать. И, что не мало важно, так и осталось насрать к концу игры. Ок, вы показали, что она пережила, какая у неё была мотивация, как она поплатилась за свои действия. Что это дало? Абсолютно ничего вообще, кроме негативных эмоций и оценок. В конце один хрен Элли идет её убивать, она не знает её истории, а именно ЭЛЛИ, я напоминаю, является ГЛАВНЫМ ПЕРСОНАЖЕМ ИГРЫ И ВООБЩЕ СЕРИИ. Кто така Эбби? Убийца, мать её, второго главного героя игры, которого любят все. В общем, если всё это говно не брать во внимание, то игра хороша, очень даже. Она лучшая на сегодняшний день во всех остальных аспектах, кроме сюжета и повествования в принципе. Но именно этим дерьмом абсолютно напрочь испорчено впечатление и настроение от всей игры. Это я еще молчу, что внешне Эбби - Фиона из Шрека, только не зеленая, что тоже как бы намекает на всю "приятность" игры за неё. У меня очень двойственные ощущения от этой игры. С одной стороны - это шедевр, с другой большое нае**лово и маркетинг. Очень жаль, что НепослушныеПсы решили пойти путём подлизывания чужих идеалов, а не путем одобрения игрового сообщества. 7/10 наверное только за то, что Элли из игры нахрен не удалили на середине.… Expand

    Definetly one of the best games on this gen. Continue the way of the 2st game and improves it a lot in EVERYTHING. Seems like the perfect mix with metal gear solid gameplay. Absolutely a must, with awesome characters, gameplay and story

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a fan of the first game and someone that wasn't spoiled by the leaks I can can whole heartedly say I was not disappointed. Joel's death is not some pointless attempt at shock value as everyone wants to believe. Its creates interesting, reoccurring themes within the story (those being revenge, hate and forgiveness), it gives Ellie a complex character arc, it kicks off a brutal journey for us the player to go on and is a perfect way to continue the story beats of the first game. Also I cried like a baby so there's that too.

    Abby is such an intriguing character and her tie to the first game was an amazing spin on the ending of the original. To be fair, her segment does go on too long but stick to it. Trust me you'll understand why you have to see Abby's perspective by the end. The only way I feel I can some up my feeling towards Abby's and her segment it that I said "I don't want to kill Abby!" aloud durring the final fight. Having her and Ellie's perspective is honestly what makes the ending as perfect as it is in my opinion.

    The only other complaints towards the game that I get are that it's not what was promised in the advertising ("You think I'd let you do this in your own?") and the time hopping mixed with flashbacks within flashbacks is messy.
    That said, I can't deny that I enjoyed it as much if not then slightly less than the first game. Slightly.



    Next gen looking graphics and a stellar score don't hurt the experience either.    … Expand

It's risky and largely works except for the odd occasion where some of its gameplay choices don't quite gel with its story concept. It questions a lot of what we have been trained to expect from story based games so expect uncomfortable moments throughout.

    I did not rush through this game, it took me about 10 days to play, so after each session of playing I could actually digest what the hell had just happened, there remains alot to question in terms of the story line, but the biggest questions are answered, why, what when and who. I myself would love to see a third, heck even a fourth.

    All in all, I recommend this game to those who seek to play it, and those who are familiar with story driven games.    … Expand

The game is littered with beautiful and heartbreaking moments, and wonderful characters. The story is told beautifully, despite however “cheap” that story may be as others have claimed.

    The story has been criticized, but after some time to think about it, I am more fond of it than when I initially finished. The story isn’t meant to be fulfilling, it isn’t meant to be a happy ending. The story aims to make you feel the pain and emptiness of the post-outbreak world, while highlighting the complexity of the people in this world. Abby has a real and understandable reason to kill Joel, reflecting how Joel had a real and understandable reason to save Ellie from the hospital (killing Abby’s dad in the process). Although it may be painful for us as players, it’s an open and brutally honest take on the cycles of violence that plague the world of TLOU.

    Where I think this game falls apart is the characters on the WLF side of things. Through the 10 hours you play as Abby, the game attempts to make you realise the pain that Ellie’s crusade brings into the world. And from that angle the story works, however the execution of the characters that are suffering from these effects falls short. None of them are as like-able as the characters from Ellie’s arc, and this causes the story to fail at the emotional high points of Abby’s arc.    … Expand

    Last Of Us 2 has been an incredibly divisive game. Some loved it and some hated it. I am in the former category. To me, it is the greatest PS4 exclusive, tied with God Of War(two extremely incomparable games). Seeing many negative reviews all around the internet, I felt like I should voice my thoughts too.

    I am completely neglecting the negative reviews because of the homophobia and misogyny, because any time spent entertaining those thoughts(including typing out this sentence) is a waste of my time.

    And I guess I don’t need to speak about the gameplay, graphics and the horror(gameplay horror) of the game, coz that is almost unanimously agreed as stellar.

    The main criticism about the story was that it was ‘pointless’, and ‘unnecessary’ in many players’ eyes. I read many people saying, the story was ‘all for nothing’ at the end, when she forgave Abby. Some loved what happened, and some hated it.

    We must begin by asking ourselves the question- “What is the story of The Last Of Us 2”

    If the answer is- “When Joel was brutally murdered by members of an organisation, led by Abby, in front of the eyes of Ellie, she seeks vengeance and to rain down agony on everyone responsible”, I think you got the answer wrong. That, I believe, is the plot of the game, not the story. And that is where, this transcends to above anything we have ever seen in this industry.
    Let’s take Last Of Us(1). The plot is- “following and outbreak that rendered much of the population top be zombie like creatures, the protagonist Joel, must take an apparently immune child, to an organisation to develop a vaccine for the disease”. But what was the story that you took, away? It was about a father, trying desperately to right a wrong from his past. Ask any parent, and it is very likely that they consider “protecting their child” to be the most important duty in their life. Joel would've been no different either. But he failed very early, when his beautiful daughter, Sarah, died in his arms, terrified and defenceless. He is a hardened man weighed down by this pain. When he travelled across the country taking care of this little, foul mouthed girl, deep inside, he was in some ways seeing his own daughter there. When he first thought she was in danger, he ignored the excruciating pain he was under and rushed to save her. And when it meant that potentially saving the world would mean, letting her die, he could not go through with it. He failed his daughter once, but he cannot do it again.

    Last Of Us Part 2, has a similar tale to it. On the surface, it seems that Ellie is driven by the anger towards Abby and the rest of the WLF crew. Her fuel was the raging vengeance, one might think. But I think the flashback scenes prove that it was different. She was driven by anger, surely, but it was not towards Abby and WLF. It was towards Ellie herself. Just like Joel felt like he failed Sarah in Part 1, Ellie feels that she failed Joel, when she was not there to save him. Or worse, she feels that Joel died thinking that Ellie hated him. For taking away the meaning of her life. Deep inside, even she knew that she meant a lot to the man and she meant a lot to her. Enough for a lifetime. Her journey through the game, was her over circles of hell, that she put herself through.

    Then we have Abby. A girl who saw hope for a second, when everything was taken away from her by a mad man. She has not known peace since then. Her nightmares were filled with those memories and she had no escape. When she finally found him, she unleashed all her anger on to him, hoping for an escape. But she did not find it. Until, she tried to make more of her life. By fighting with everything she got, trying to save a boy and girl, whom she was trained to kill. It is there, that she was close to finding peace. But again, it was shattered when this girl came out of nowhere and killed almost everyone dear to her. But this time, she chose forgiveness, because she knew that therein lies true freedom.

    With this, we reach the final act, where we find these two incredibly complex characters, battling it all out. This is where Ellie REALLY sees herself, Abby and Lev. The woman dying Ellie’s clutches was none other than Joel himself and the little boy dying in the boat, was Ellie herself. This crushing realisation pulled back Ellie to stop this chain of hate.
    In the epilogue of the story, we see a final memory of Ellie and Joel trying to mend the broken relationship. Was it a real memory, or an imagination by Ellie? Her wish to believe that he knew, that whatever happened, she could never hate Joel? That he will always be like a father to her? Whatever it was, that brought peace to Ellie.
    This is what I take back from the story. If this interpretation intrigues you in anyway(lovers and haters of the game), please do try to play it again. See if it means more to you, this time around.    … Expand

    Do ignore all the hullabaloo about the game being “political” or having an agenda. Everything is political. TLOU1 also was. Depending on your ideological standpoint, you may consider the game’s morals progressive, reactionary or even cynical or nihilistic. Such ambiguity, rarely found in this medium, makes for exceptional storytelling and elevates TLOU2 above your run-of-the-mill games.

    All the technical achievements you would expect from a highly awaited AAA game are here: the extraordinary visuals, the deeply moving soundtrack (Gustavo Santaolalla will deservedly win many awards for it), the impeccable acting/dialogues and the efficient if not too creative gameplay.

    The reasons why I don’t give TLOU2 a perfect 10 are its occasionally repetitive exploration mechanics, which sometimes clog the pacing, especially the endless need to search every corner of every room for supplies; and a few questionably rushed storyline choices in the second half of the game.

    Still, this is an absolute must-play that will be enjoyed and debated for generations to come. I hope NaughtyDog and Neil Druckmann will someday release a third instalment, no matter how many years it takes to develop it.    … Expand

While some aspects of the decisions made seem a bit all over the place, the setup with the flashbacks works great. The story might not be for everyone and I do think that some parts should've been more up to the player (more decision making), but overall it was quite a ride.

While some aspects of the decisions made seem a bit all over the place, the setup with the flashbacks works great. The story might not be for everyone and I do think that some parts should've been more up to the player (more decision making), but overall it was quite a ride.

    Gameplay wise they've improved a lot over the first game, but for the most part it's the same. More options are available and enemies have a less scripted way of doing things.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. i've always have been a fan of The last of US. i loved part 1 and i love part 2. In big lines it does not go further on the story of part one. But that does not really matter because elly is an person 2 and has develop her own story is nice to watch. the abby part does not interest me at first but it made you understand more why she is the way she is. The close combat par that the put in is very fun to use. the craftable items are the same with some extra stuff you can make. The collectibles are nice but one minor detail is that in part one you have notes that tells you a own story in part 2 that was less.

There is so much more behind the story, I loved Abbys storyline. My only problem is that it is maybe 5 hours longer than it needs to be and chapters would serve the story better in another order.… Expand

    I hate this game but I also love it. I never played anything like it and I never experienced something that toyed with my emotions this much. I love the characters and I can’t wait for part 3. I just hope it doesn’t toy with my emotions as much.

    It’s definitely the most memorable game of the generation for me. While I had fun playing all kinds of games during the gen, this was the only one which left me emotionally emptied for days, in a good way I guess.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
