Looked forward to the new game for years only for the story to be all over the place, and the new characters which nobody wants to play as. This Is an artistic masterpiece by Niel Druckmann 5/5 in my opinion. Gameplay, sound effects, graphics were all top notch and pushed this Swann dance of the PS4 even Further ! The only negative I could find was the non advancement of Ellie s immunity, we didn't learn anything new about nor did it make the world of YOU advance in any way. Overall a beautiful and amazing game for the ages, should be played and taught in schools… Expand

    Based on the lou1 this a forgetfull game . Horrible plot the ending is meaningless. I don't think they delivered anything the writing is bad they didn't develop Tommy's character or others .I feel like they pushed way to much the theme of revenge. Even Sasuke would found this appalling.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Needless to say this is a Day and Night difference of opinion between critics and the general gaming public. Naughty Dog’s formula with games since the original Uncharted has been:
    Mediocre game mechanics. But amazing animation, set pieces, character development, and story telling.
    Unfortunately with this particular title significant character development and storytelling has disappeared. On top of this, it’s no secret at this point that the game is significantly longer then it actually needs to be. Inhabiting an additional character, who a majority of players can’t connect with or care about for obvious reasons. The final confrontation in the game easily being one of the most satisfying, then most dissatisfying moments in the story, not to mention video game history. Not to mention nonsensical.    … Expand

    The best video game I’ve ever played. This story is not for everyone, but this is honestly the best one I’ve ever had the privilege of listening to. The themes and messages are so powerful. It truly resonated with me. I still can’t stop thinking about it nearly 2 months after beating it.

    The Last of Us Part II is a worthy sequel. The gameplay was tightened up and improved, but the core remained the same. The graphics are good, but not great. The story is great, but Abby's campaign is not great. I remember the ending of the game, the message of the game is ambiguous. The game retains the thesis of the first part about the meaning of life and the struggle for it.

    This was for me the game of this generation.
    What a masterpiece!
    There are so many **** and plot twists that i really enjoyed. Gameplay wise its also truly 200%! Graphics, sound, combat, environments, animations, no game does it better. Thanks Naughty Dog, cant wait for Pt3.

Didn't read the reviews until I'd finished to avoid spoilers and I'm stunned at how half the internet seems to have it! The storytelling I thought was so clever and original. Initially when we went back a few days and relived the story as Abby I just couldn't wait to get back to the confrontation but seeing everything from Abby's perspective and seeing the hurt Ellie had caused really made me question whose side I was on.

    Joel's death was gruesome and horrendous, but Abby was trying to find vengeance for her father in the same way we had come to understand Ellie was. I was glad at the end that Ellie spared her. It seems there's no good guys and bad guys in the post apocalyptic world, just different shades of loss.

    Basically, I think I felt all the things the writers wanted me to feel and I wonder if maybe it was easier for me because I didn't play the first game (I just watched a recap on YouTube) so I wasn't quite as emotionally attached to Joel and Ellie as some other may have been.

    Story aside, so much of the game was immersive and visually stunning. Escaping from the scar island under the burning debris was incredible, as was much of the dark immersive parts with infected coming at you from nowhere, and the intensity of the sniper scene where you feel angry when he kills Manny only for you to then discover it's Tommy.

    It felt like a level of storytelling that wouldn't be possible in a film and for the first time in a very long time I was disappointed when the game ended and I wanted more.

    I really don't understand all the negative reviews, this experience was completely epic.    … Expand

    An absolutely stellar game from start to finish. The Last of Us 2 forces players to be uncomfortable, and in this case that is a very good thing. The tidal wave of poor reviews is to be expected given the difficult emotional challenge presented by this story. It isn't a challenge you can overcome with a controller, but one you have to make right with yourself and your OWN lust for revenge.An absolutely stellar game from start to finish. It's a brilliant game which really portraits humanity at its worst when **** has hit the fan. It left me sad, somewhat depressed and thoroughly engrossed in the story. I felt it was extremely smart to give us the point of view of opposed characters. To all the people moaning about Joels death by the hands of Abby, please re-play both games and consider who the bigger monster of those two are/were... My only real gripe with the story is the apparent foregone conclusion thst the vaccine is dead. It's repeated over and over as an established truth. But keep in mind for p3 that Ellie, the immune, is still very much alive... That's the redemption arc I'd like to see down the line.… Expand

    If you mainly care about graphics and gameplay, this game is decent. But if you're like me, having at least a slight desire to enjoy a well-crafted story, then TLOU2 failed miserably on this aspect. If the graphics and gameplay scored 7, then the story scored a negative 5 since it ruins everything about this game, including the graphics and gameplay.

The original story made me cry and showed how fierce a father’s love for his daughter can be. The original game and story is the entire reason I bought a PlayStation and the sequel lived up to and exceeded that hype. Yeah it will be controversial but I think that’s necessary and it will shape the path of story driven games for years to come. Honestly the best writing I have come across in any platform, whether it be movies, tv, or games. It is a masterpiece that lived up to the hype of the original.… Expand

    I absolutely love this game bec. At one point it made you hate a certain character for a certain reason and then made you understand the perspectives of this character and you felt bad for the character its an absolute amazing

    In my point of view, the experience playing The last of us 2, its amazing. Beautiful graphics, amazing sound, amazing history, i never felt so many emotions in a game like this one, its problably the game that made me more thoughtful.     And I haven’t began with the soundtrack yet. It is perfect for a post-apocalyptic world like this. The songs are so great that you will want to listen to them again and again, reliving the moments of the game.
    The only thing that TLOU2 did not really develop is the side characters. They are there... and they are helpful... but you don’t really care about them that much. One the other hand, however, there is more time for the main characters to develop and it is worth the loss.
    I highly recommend it only after you finished the first part. It is a world perfect for complete immersion of the player.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
