The reason for this score is not due to due to the LGBTQ aspect of the game as anyone who loves and has played tlou1 already knows about Ellie and Riley. Those who do score tlou2 lowly and based it on the LGBTQ aspect have obviously not played the first one. Besides it's a post-apocalyptic game, LGBTQ is the last thing you should be worried about.

What is the reason for the low score is that the story puts you in the shoes of someone you cannot possibly relate to. The drive narrative of the story is beyond incredibly weak and does not make sense 70% of the time. The main characters essentially lost all of their core aspects. The twist exists purely for conventional means and the ending left an incredibly distasteful and dishonest service as a sequel.

Other than that, the soundtrack is nice and the graphic is amazing, but how far can pretty pictures and lovely noise get when nothing is there to drive them?

The Last of Us Part 2 is committed to misery above all else and even then seems to struggle to do that well. What I mean when I say that is that all attempts to create empathy with the new cast fall short because they consistently act boneheadedly and cruelly. And so in the chase of subverting expectations there is deliberate torture of preexisting characters from The Last of Us Part 1 that I cared about *because of the writing from Last of Us 1* and not from the writing of its sequel.

The clashing tones and actions were overwhelming to me to the point that, at the end, I genuinely felt as though the story were somewhat schizophrenic. Characters kill hundreds in the pursuit of revenge and then are stopped at the apex by a 2-second flashback that serves only to prod the player with a hamfisted "but isn't killing bad?" jab to the side.

They lowballed it with the themes and went overtly edgy and miserable in tone. Where TLOU1 had a small moment of sunlight and petting a giraffe before the suffocating darkness of the final sections, TLOU2 would instead kill the giraffe and maim its children before zooming in the camera and flashing "Isn't animal abuse awful?" in size-80 impact font. The Last of Us 2 thinks itself so much more poignant and hard-hitting than it actually is and in taking itself so hyper-seriously sets itself up to be a punchline when the weak writing rears its ugly head.

The gameplay is ok. Kudos to the animation team and my deepest condolences because I can't imagine they made it through this game without heavy losses. The movement and combat animations look great, but at its core the gameplay of TLOU2 isn't quite iterative enough of the firsts to wow me. With a 7 year gap between releases I expected TLOU2 to play less like its predecessor from 2013.

It's ok for a game to make you feel bad. I just wish the story actually worked for it. There are too many character concessions that set up unbelievable situations in which to torture and kill the characters you like. Had every character acted as carelessly as they do in TLOU2 then the first would have ended during the intro.

The final shot of this game comes as close to outright saying "they truly are the last of us" as you could possibly write without having a character say it in dialogue. In the end I just feel silly for having been excited for it in the first place.

What are the odds of having 2 lesbians and 2 transgenders in the span of 8 characters in real life? why should games be filled with **** Please LGBTQ+ community can you just stay away from gaming you've already ruined the movie industry, isn't this enough for you?

The story is irrational and the character's development is trash. ellie turned into a murderer and killed everyone except the one she was supposed to kill; Joel was just humiliatingly killed **** you G.R.R.Martin for making this trend seem smart and edgy); Lev killed his mom and the game want to make that look justified because you know she didn't understand equality; un-meaningful ending and my god I can go for days non stop it's just **** I'm just gonna refund just because they need to know they ****ed up and so that they don't do this again and ruin gaming anymore

What a horrible game : gameplay is boring, the gunfights in Naughty Dog's games are always the same. There's no innovation, not a single one. It is boring and not good. The story is just pure crap : it's litteraly a fan fiction written by childs on Twitter

The Brutal way Joel is killed is not a problem. Because I know that if a apocalypse happens things like his death will happen. That's why I don't hate the game. It's brutal violence is needed to show reality - how cruel the real world is. And a message to all the people who say that the game is too much violent or brutal - just shut the **** up and stop crying. The world is no place filled with fairy tales. Life is harsh and hard. Especially during the apocalypse. So just Grow up and stop pretending to know everything, and that that your review is the right one. Because it is not. And about the game play. I think it is amazing. It just keeps everything from the first game that I loved. And improves it. Another message to all the people who say that the game play hasn't changed any better: it wouldn't be a good sequel if it changed the game play completely. It kept it the same and improve it. The gunplay is good. Thank God they didn't change it to be like CoD or fortnite or GTA5 just to satisfy whining fan boys like you. The game play isn't supposed to be like any of these I mentioned. It is supposed to be last of us game play. And this game keeps it very well. About the graphics... well.. They are impressive. Fenomenal even. And you who say that it has bad graphics... You are Dumb. Why don't who complain about the graphics make another game with better graphics if you know so much. Right you won't because you can't and you know it. All you can do is complain. So if you can't make anything better just do yourself a favor and stop whining. Last but not least to all you who say Tha are hardcore fans of the last of us and come here to complain about game play and graphics... YOU ARE NOT HARDCORE FANS. JUST GO TO HELL AND STOP WHINING. This game brings back nostalgia from the old last of us with its game play. If you do not appreciate that then you are not a hardcore fan. Expand

The Last of Us part 2 is a work of art. The animations, character models and environments are all out of this world as most Naughty Dog games are. Additionally, the voice work is top notch with returning VAs and new alike giving heartfelt performances that really draw you into the characters.

Unfortunately, that is basically all the game does well. Graphics and voice work can only carry a game so far without good gameplay and story to back it up (in most cases anyway; there are plenty of examples where gameplay carries a game entirely), The gameplay is passable enough; essentially just an iteration or two off of the first game but nothing noteworthy to really set it above it's predecessor. But the story is where the game really loses the plot.

I don't want to spoil anything (not that it hasn't been spoiled all over the place for a few months now) so I won't go into specific details of the plot but I'll lay out a few general critiques. For instance, much of the game takes place with a group that it fails to really endear the player too. As such, unlike the first title it tends to be hard to get emotionally invested in them and the struggles they face feel empty which greatly undercuts many of the more dramatic moments in the story. Beyond that, the characters the game does a good job of connecting you to (or who have a prior connection from the first game) tend to act in unreasonable ways when compared to their personalities or previously established character traits. But, in my opinion, the most egregious fumble the game makes is just a measly 2 hours into the game where it combines all the faults and just killed my enthusiasm for the rest of the story.

All in all, it is a very pretty game with decent gameplay but does little to actually motivate you to play through the story.

This is what I expected from a next gen game. Insane how other games this gen have not made use of the full potential of the ps4 pro. However, the story of TLOU2 is horrible and filled with the director’s ideology of what he thinks is right.

The only part of the game that I actually enjoyed was the part where you play through a short memory of Joel and Ellie. A throwback to what made the first game so incredible and the very lack thereof being the main cause for the failure of TLOU2. Not worth the full price, but if you sell the game right after beating it, you’ll end up paying about 10 bucks for an experience you can easily live without.

I was highly looking forward to this game till I heard about the leaks and how bad they were, naturally for fear of my money being wasted I looked into them. The amount of **** they put into this story is **** atrocious. The only reason I'm not giving it a 0 is because it's good to be back in the world of the last of us with it's fun gamplay style. Even with the devs not knowing what to **** do and forcing their political ideology down our throats. It's a mistake of a **** game, and I will pay you to not buy it and to boycott naughty dog to send a message that this is not what we wanted. They have the media on full damage control, and are forcing game review companies to give them good ratings. I wouldn't be surprised if they take our negative reviews down. Expand

The graphics are improved, but some textures and scenes are just downright ugly. Some characters don't move when approached and dogs "rotate" instead of turning their bodies naturally when you go to pet them, destroying the immersion even more. Crafting is also improved but extremely overrated (all this hype about JuMpInG being added to the game for example is a complete let down) like most elements in this game. Speaking of elements that are disappointing, this also applies to the story.

Joel and Ellie are killed by the "main antagonist", but the dumbest thing of all is that Joel isn't even "in" this game. You only "interact" with him in flashbacks which are incredibly stupid. Characters are more diverse, but are all unlikeable and at times insufferable - including Ellie. It doesn't feel like a real horror, the Last of Us 2 experience. It feels like what would happen if the franchise was taken over by SJWs led by Anita Sarkeesian to prove some "#woke" political point no one cares about, and not even doing it well (for example, Abby, seen as the main antagonist, is transgender, which is portrayed as a villain but also deserves pity cuz Joel bad! Or the constant hilarious and stupid decisions Ellie makes that you have no control over.) The pacing is also terrible. The game feels way too long for what it is and just seems to fester as you play it with mundane tasks, as if the devs were forced to add filler to meet a quota. The sex scene with Abby for example, while extremely cringey, lingers on way too long afterwards at a black screen for no reason other than to fill time and make you question life itself.

TL;DR Overall its an average horror game with slightly better graphics and a terrible story, but as a LAST OF US game, comes off s an overrated, boring, and quite frankly extremely disappointing experience, that was a product of poor decision making, abuse of employee labor and having to PAY "journalists" for reviews and 10/10. If something is too good to be true usually it is. This game is an abomination of a forced sequel for easy sales, that nobody asked for. Don't believe the paid reviews, or hell even me, go and see for yourself how much of a trainmen this franchise has become - unless you're an SJW, pass. This game single-handeldly ruined the franchise. Play the first TLOU instead.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
