    I believe the truth about this game lies in the middle ground between paid critics and the user score. First of all, this game is an absolute gem and state-of-the-art in terms of technology. There is absolutely no way that, even if you hated the story, this game is a 0/10 or something of the likes. At the same time there is no way you could give this game more than 8/10 on a basis of game-design.

    The gameplay is almost identical to the first part and it can hardly be called an "action game" let alone video game. The first part got away with it, because the story is simply so brilliant and captivating. TLOU2, however, exposes the weaknesses this series always had, due to its poor storyline.

    The drastic changes from the first part seem not only out of proportion, but also unrealistic. Luxuries like transgenderism would never exist in an apocalypse setting. Apart from being focused on biological survival of the humans, there isnt even a society to define traditional gender roles. This is basically an analogy for the entire game, the occurences feel forced and unnatural. Every decision of the protagonists makes you hate them more. There is nothing wrong with transgenderism and homosexuality, but its like creating a sports game with only fat athletes. It just doesnt check out.

    Furthermore, throwing extreme brutality with no underlying meaning or message at the player didnt help either. I imagine the goal was to provoke a sophisticated reaction from the players, but it feels more like a trashy splatter movie than an artistic shocking message.

    Overall this game feels more like a statement. Its easily the most boring AAA game I have ever played. The points that kept me playing were the beautiful design & music (in most parts very atmospheric), the hope for a genius story twist and simple nostalgia for the first part.

    I think the game may appeal to a niche audience and it does have its moments, but personally I wish I hadnt wasted my time with it.    … Expand

    Lol those idiots who rated this game 0 need a psychologist. The visuals and details alone make you nut. What did they expect from an old man and a teenager? To survive in a zombie apocalypse and live peacefully while ignoring their enemies? The game would've been more realistic if one of them could die in the first game.     disgusting game. The producers are sick people with mental disorder. Basically they had the opportunity & enough time to come up with better concept. instead they used the game as a " pot " for their pathetic lust.

    Love this game and very highly recommend it. Not for players who like to shoot and respawn and repeat and repeat, REPEAT, huh, ...so most of these bad reviews are coming from people like that. It does a SJW like story to it, those reviews you read do have some value if any at all. But regardless should not stop you from playing this spectacular game. 9/10 storyline to it in my opinion withLove this game and very highly recommend it. I didn't see any spoilers before playing it so to not ruin it, that's where some people went wrong. So don't listen to them if your still on the fence, just wait for a sale but still support this game so there's more like these TLOU series games and others like it.     Amazing game with new mechanics compared to its predecessors breathtaking story and gameplay similar to the first, however, enhanced to the thousandth power titanic game of such complete there are few around should try it all.

    The best game and a contender for the title "game of the year" do not believe other people's reviews, they are envious. The game is unrealistically beautiful and developed. I applaud standing in front of the developers.

This game is soooo baaad man I don’t even understand it Joel dies a few hours into the game really!!!! 1- give us some more time with him and Ellie Remind us of the good old days 2-he got killed by a transgender 3-when he died he doesn’t even know why /abby was like guess and straight beating him

    4- Joel isn’t new to the survivors game he enters A room with strangers surrounding him with guns
    And give them your real name and tommy was like why don’t you come with us I just wanted to talk about Joel because he is my number 1 reason why I was buying this game not to mention the trashy ending    … Expand

They want every piece of media to be fluffy domestic bliss. I can’t think of anything more boring than that.

    Gameplay wise, they have definitely improved on all the original games mechanics. Although this one is much more heavily leaned towards wanting you to do stealth. The upgraded melee was particularly satisfying.

    The graphics are amazing. Nothing else to say about them other than the lighting department needs a damn award.

    Overall yeah. Absolutely loved this game. It hurt so good.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
