    A horrible attempt by an egotistical white man to appear "woke." Literally no one cares about the lesbian relationship, the fans care that he used a highly anticipated game for a self-righteous platform.

    As someone who values story over visuals and gameplay I was aphauled at the level of polish of the story vs the polish of everything else. The 2 points are only because I value the efforts of the devs and the detail they put into the game. The story is shocking for the sake of being shocking. Shame its not just a sequal, it's not the same characters so it's a solo game of pety revenge for me.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Game is beautiful, probably the best looking game on stock PS4. The animation are sometimes a little off and there are a few bugs here and there but overall, it's way ahead of most of the games on this subject.

    Music are almost non existent which is a shame since the first game had some nice ones.

    Gameplay isn't bad but it's very simple, just an updated copy of the gameplay from the first game which was OK in 2013 but already not memorable. The reason people still liked the first game is that the gameplay wasn't that important, what was important in TLOU was the writing, the story, the characters. And this is where it gets ugly.

    One character aside, the cast is dull. You couldn't even describe the characters otherwise than by saying "it's that guy wearing a hat" or "it's that Asian looking guy". The characters aren't badly written, they're not written at all. Oh, my bad, Ellie is written : they gave her tons of hobbies to fill the void in the writing but it simply doesn't work. You can't be a good guitar player, song writer, astronomy expert, comics nerd, good drawing artist, hand to hand combat expert, pro sniper and bow shooter all at the same time. It's ridiculous and it doesn't make her more real, that's just pure failed writing. Also, the way she talks with Dina make them sound like they actually lived in the "old world" which is even more shocking since the fact she was so clueless on the subject in the first game was so evident in he conversation with Joel.

    All the good ideas from the first game in terms of rhythm and storytelling, like the short and almost entirely playable introduction are gone. Now you have to endure long and useless scenes where you can only walk ALL THE TIME and the game takes forever to really start. Most important events are badly timed, they happen too soon or too late so they have almost no impact on what you feel. The game completely lacks that feeling from the first one where you feel like you're there, in the game, living the same adventure the characters do. Instead of that, it's like you're watching people you don't care about act from far away. Plus some scenes are so bad, so outdated, they feel like a Seinfeld episode in term of directing.

    And what about that stupid idea of forcing you to play with the antagonist for HALF THE GAME. Yes, everyone understood why, it's so obvious you can't misunderstand it, that's not the issue, the issue is that it's a stupid idea. That's not what the players were told, they were all thinking that this game would be TLOU but with Ellie as a main character which is not the case. They lied to the players, pure and simple. On top of that, you can also add that the game is long for absolutely no reason (the story is so simple and the gameplay so limited, you want the game to end after like 10 hours) which makes this part of the game even more boring.

    Let's not forget "the message" the game is trying to push on you. It's so obvious, so awkward, so contradicting, cringe and illogical, it simply doesn't make any sense, the writer obviously wanted to do something deep but failed to grasp the gist of it resulting in a really stupid conclusion.

    The Last of Us is one of my favorite game ever. When the second one was announced, I tried very hard not to get my hopes up because I knew making a sequel at least as good as the first one would be difficult. I avoided all spoilers and drama but even with all these precaution, I've never been so disappointed by a game. This is a unexplainable and unforgivable waste.

    I gave it 1 because I acknowledge all the hard work the 3D artists, devs and such put in the game but I can't give it more because TLOU2 is abysmal compared to the first one.    … Expand

    Good graphics and the gameplay mechanics work well, but hardly an improvement over the original. The story is terrible and seeing as I have no options to change it in any way the whole experience was an unpleasant one. Such a massive let down after all these years of waiting.

No one wants to switch characters so much and no one wants to fight the games hero as one of the last major battles of the game.     The writing was dog **** worse then that even. It makes Game of Thrones season 8 look like ******* Citizen Kane, or insert another bad writing vs good writing comparison analogy. How did 7 years of development render this...thing...Jesus wept.

    The tortured dialogues and the tragic story... Characters that don't make sense... LB GT QWERTY threads pressed on by force.. One point for good graphics. But it could be better.

    The story is awful. If you played the original for the narrative, just go watch a few hours of gameplay from a streamer before deciding to buy this game. Don't waste your money.

    They completely did Joel dirty, no dignity at all. Ellie's character lost consistency thanks to the ending. The story is trash. Great graphics but little innovation with gameplay, especially considering the time this took to make.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. mechanically has hardly improved over the original in such a significant time. visually its very good to look at. however when you get to the story is where the game falls apart. if you were a fan of the original at all you will be disappointed within 2 hours at the character assassinations of Joel. its so stupid and then you're forced to play as his irredeemable killer. not to mention Neil Druckmanns gross self inserted sex scene. its so nasty. **** this game. don't waste your money on it as you can't even get a refund on it now.… Expand

    If this game is a new IP, is not a sequel, the story just boring.
    But it's TLOU Part2...every old character is out of character in my mind. They seems not the same person.
    Gameplay is okay, but I can't keep play in the second half game. New charaters are not attractive. I don't understand the endding. Playing this game is very painful. I don't want to replay it. I just want to forget    If this game is a new IP, is not a sequel, the story just boring.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
