I just finished the game. And honestly, it is one of the best games I have ever played. Brave storytelling by NaughtyDog. Amazing visuals. Unique gameplay. It’s something else.

I really find the game fun and creative. The story does a lot of things wrong but the pros outweigh the cons in my opinion. I like the wolf’s story as well but Abby is a pretty weak antagonist but is not the worst villain I’ve ever seen but I think this game deserves a closer look because the gameplay is really good.

Probably the most disappointing game of the current gen such lazy writing from the developers so Abby kills Joel you go through the game killing everyone in your way doing some very questionable things not to mention you play 50% of the game as Abby it builds up to the last fight between Ellie & Abby Ellie is about to kill Abby sees a vision of Joel thinks screw it then lets Abby go thats it no pay off you thought Mass Effect 3 ending was bad this is worse sorry ND you screwed up on this one Expand

This game is shockingly terrible. Being forced to play as a character you are also forced to hate makes no sense to me. It's beyond insulting.

Now this is how you create a game! I had huge hopes for this game and for Naughty Dog and I couldn't be more satisified. I hope other devlopers use this game as a benchmark. Gameplay 10/10... It improves from the first in many ways, the sound and music is great and the engaging storyline right from the start is breathtaking

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It pains me because the game is getting so much backlash for the sole reason of Abby's flashbacks being poorly timed, THATS THE ONLY REASON IT HAS HATE. I loved the story, and especially the end fight in the water, I think that the meaning and messages are being overlooked, and that's why people dont like it. It obviously can't be better than the first game, sequels never are, but the 8/10 would've been a 9.6/10 but the placement of Abby's flashbacks just wasn't timed well. Thanks Neil for this masterpiece. I really do think this, it isn't some petty scam, it's my honest opinion. That's all I had, but a solid 8 Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So after years of waiting, I've finally completed TLOU2. I dont see why there is so much hate? The graphics are unreal. The story has a completely different feel (I personally feel that as Joel has died people are losing there **** and it was a great example of a strong character. The game itself was great and I can honestly say that you need to play the game itself, and form your own opinion. Some reviews I believe are harsh (again it's my opinion). I feel like abby was a great addition and was a character that wasnt liked to start with, when you learn about her you suddenly develop an understanding for what shes done and why she killed Joel. People need to play the full game (some are not finishing this and turning it off after Joel) and realise that its darker than before, not every story has a spectacular happy ending. This game not only had me hooked, it had my crying, stressed, angry and all other kinds of emotions. I really hope that people who play the game, complete it and then have an honest opinion. Hopefully will be game of the year in my opinion. Expand

Within the first 2 and a half hours of this game I hated it. I did not like what I saw and where the story was going. I felt like the game was trying to force something on me and I was not happy. As I continued playing the gameplay kept me interested. The story started to build and I became captivated. And then right in the middle of the game it all changed. I felt like the game was trying to force something on me and I was not happy. As I continued playing the gameplay kept me interested. The story started to build and I became captivated. And then right in the middle of the game it all changed. I was forced, again, to do something I did not want just so I can care about them. At this point I know what the story wanted me to feel; “take a step in someone else shoes”. To me, that did not matter. The sound work in this game was incredible and with the talented artist at Naughty Dog you can feel like you are there in the once populated, now abandoned, stores and houses in Seattle. You really feel like it’s storming outside your own home while playing. Even though I did not like playing the “second half” of the game I could not ignore the beautiful and creepy atmosphere round every corner. As I continued on playing, the game finally comes full circle to an event of crossing paths (I’m really trying not to spoil anything here). Let’s just say, this was even harder for me to play, so much so, that I kept allowing myself to die for satisfaction. If the game would have ended there I would have been even more pissed. My anger for revenge while playing the game grew more. Going through this story was rich with a lot of highs and lows, but differently more lows, however, nothing prepared me for what happened next. Naughty Dog as proved to me that they are The best at telling stories. I came into the game with a story of my own and wanted justice. I wanted to tell Naughty Dog how to tell this story. It wasn’t until the end of this game it ALL MADE SENSE. The moments in this game that I hated became understandable. I felt so sorry at the end. I use to beg for one thing to happened but when faced with it I put the controller down. I felt guilty and by the end I just saying “please don’t do this”. This story set heavy on me at the end. Feeling all kinds of emotion. I’ve never felt that way playing a game before. This is not a game you can just watch someone play to understand it. YOU HAVE TO EXPERIENCE IT YOURSELF. This game will make you think about senseless deaths in video games and say, “who was that person? What’s their story”. To many people, you may not ever want to ask that question in a game. And 99.99% of games will never ask you too and that’s great. That’s what makes this game special because it does. And is revenge truly worth it. I’m in awe of this game and know that this game will age like fine wine. I was there to buy The Last of Us part One when it first came out. It had somewhat of a small following that grew over time. I have no doubt that the some of the people who hated the plot of this game will eventually try it; whether that be 3 years from now or 7 years. It’s always the consumer choice to buy what they want to play and I’m so glad I gave this game a chance even though the leaks of this game made me not want to. This game is a 10/10. Expand

This game could have been a much more enjoyable experience if they had changed the pacing of it all. everything was out of order and you never got time to develop any sympathy or feelings for any newly introduced characters. Other then that, just a very decent game. I'd wait for it to go on sale if you're going to purchase it.

ND succeeded making their game look good but they forgot to put a soul in it. Sad to see a good franchise ruined like that i hope they will "wake up" and return to their awesome storytelling in their next title. I gave a 1 rating just for the release with minimum bugs/glitches.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I enjoyed the game. I enjoyed the story. I learned to like Abby. It's not the popular opinion, but this was an enjoyable game for me all-around. The story kept me invested despite the twists, and I found the internal struggles of the protagonists to be really interesting. I found charm and humor, and a solid 30 hours of entertainment. I don't like that Sony tried to silence people discussing the leaks. I don't like that they tried to strongarm content creators. I don't like that forced reviews of only 40% of the story were the status quo.

But I enjoy the game. It made me feel. It made me think. I understood what the characters were going through. I felt for Abby. I understood why she hated Joel. I understood that while playing with Joel made him my hero, I. Abby's world he represented evil and hate. Is this a generic message? Yes. It doesn't change it is an idea that has been prevalent in discussing our humanity, and has been since the beginning of time. Ellie's decision at the end made her strong. Joel made her strong. Abby wasn't just a heartless killer, she showed more compassion to Ellie than Abby ever showed her. Maybe it upsets people that Ellie would be presented in such a sadistic way, but the fact remains that Abby showed her a restrain and compassion that Ellie didn't show Abby until the very end. The end represented Ellie holding on to a little of the humanity that Joel sacrificed himself to save.

These are my genuine thoughts. Find me on YT.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
