All decisions follow a blatant political agenda.

The above results in a bad story and characters with incongruous motivations.

Which means that the game, as far as the story goes, is the opposite of the first part, it doesn't arrive.

Provavelmente o melhor jogo que já joguei. A história é sobre atos e suas consequências, e como uma obsessão pode destruir a vida de alguém. Tudo isso envolto por um gameplay sólido e por um dos melhores gráficos que já vi.

the first tlou could have worked alone, and i still would've been happy if there wasn't part 2 for it. the last of us part 2 has the best graphics i've seen in my gaming history. 10/10 to graphics. story was also good, not as solid as the first one's, but still loved every second of it. this was a lot more emotional for me than the first one tho.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let me start by saying that it's heartbreaking to see that the majority of gamers can't even try to handle a story like this.. You don't have to be a SJW to appreciate the work put into something like this piece of gaming history. Well, I'd like to congratulate ones among us who do a ppreciate a plot that is smarter and deeper than the newest instalment of halo's call of duty dota, after 7 years of waiting we have received something that only happens once in a console generation.

Just a nota bene, I've played the game twice now on Hard and Hard+ and think that it's the level it was meant to be played at. Anything below almost feels like a non-challenge.

Everything in this game can be considered an industry best - level design, mechanics, sound design, character development, lighting, script writing, animations...everything. If you have any understanding in how modern games are made, you will appreciate the effort the people at Naughty Dog have put into this title. The way the game unfolds, the way levels are structured, the way the lighting is used and the camera moves.. The way the sound and the music set the mood and tell the story..

Compared to the first game, part 2 has a way smarter AI that keeps you on your toes when playing at decent difficulty levels. The mechanics, while still being almost the same, have been finessed and broadened. It's fun to go and replay the encounters by trying different approaches and tactics.

But the main reason why I decided to write this review is the whole review bombing situation which I wholeheartedly despise. This game will be a financial and cultural success, no doubt about it. But what makes me super confused is the fact that majority of gamers can't handle a death of a protagonist, sexual preferences of a few characters and the fact that FEMALES CAN GROW MUSCLE. It's 2020 and it's time to grow up and accept it. Throughout the whole game I had thoughts and emotions rushing through my head trying to answer questions. Questions of unnecessary violence, love, compassion, forgiveness. I wasn't simply smashing buttons and killing one NPC after another and progressing from level to level. I was persistently reflecting on what was happening on the screen. This is why I sincerely love this game.

But I guess If you can't handle this, please consider sticking to something simpler. Play a session of Warzone with your mates, let off steam. Maybe one day you'll grow up and be able to fully appreciate this game. Maybe.

My beloved franchise ruined by an invasive woke agenda. There are ways to be "progressive" without shoving it down our throats. This was not one of those instances. I really don't understand the hate that is coming, this game is not a 4.6 by any objective metric. I mean if this is a 4.6 then Kill Bill should be a 1. People need to chill out and enjoy the game.
And Abby is cool, this is simply a story of regular people who are pushed to breaking points and I think what we get is a very plausible story.

Honestly, after 2 playthrough, this game is still very impressive.

The gamepaly is very good .
    Graphic are awesome.
So many little details you notice only after more than one playthrough.
The story is you like it, or you don't, but that is only personal taste. I did like it.

So many possibilies with each playthrough.

TLOF 1 was my favorite game but now it is TLOU 2.

Absolute disrespect to the first game and its characters. Blatant agenda pushing as far as the eye can see. This game wasn't made for fans of the original, it was a politically charged cringe fest to shove certain ideals down peoples throats, and then berate them if they don't like it.

Pass on this and get yourself a few beers or another game. You'll be damn glad you did.

A perfect technology, old gameplay loops, bad pacing and a poorly written storyline that actively does everything in its power to make you really feel the full effects of ludonarrative dissonance (what you want to do vs what the game forces you to do vs what your character does in cutscenes).

"Only winning move is not to play".

Technically and gameplay wise, this game is perfect! I didnt had any problems with script, i understood it. I understood motivations, i understood everyones actions.
Abby is great addition to the world and i hope we will see her and Lev again.
People who review bomb this game just because they are homophobes or because they would write script differently are jokes...
Everything made sense, even hero can become villian and you can start simpatize with former badguy. But every coin has two sides, remember that, not everything is black and white...
Overall i really loved this game and i cant recommend it enough!

I agree the decisions NG made regarding the narrative were controversial, but for the most part they were executed well. I love Joel as a character and I was heartbroken when I saw that scene ( I wasn't spoiled ) but when you are like 70 or 80% into the game you can finally see the bigger picture and everything just clicks into place.

I respect the people who didn't like the risky path ND used to tell this story but nobody can deny that they had to balls to do it and deliver an experience of a lifetime. That last scene just gets me everytime.. I love Joel and Ellie together.

This game can really make you feel things whent you are playing it.. the pacing of course could be better on a few parts but overall this game is a huge achievement on the technical and the story telling level.

    This game is a masterpiece.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've finished the game recently and finally gave in to the realization it was a waste of time. I kept looking for arguments in it's favor. I've talked a lot about with my partner. Still, the lesson I learned from the game is that I shouldn't have played it. I won't describe the plot itself but only rant about the grand design of it.

The processes it triggered in me are not positive or aiming to improve me as a person. Nor did I have fun playing it which kind is the point of a game. I felt like Sisif pushing this boulder of sadness further and further only to fall back to my knees as my hopes of a deeper and better meaning got crushed by the next character's decision. I wanted to stop during the game multiple times because I understood where it was heading. I only finished it because I figured it was only fair if I wanted to express an opinion about it.

While I started with affection towards the world and the characters I ended up hating everyone equally as it all turns into a brutal descent into madness. Honestly I hope they won't make a part 3 as I can't see myself touching any of these characters again. How can one love characters who's only scope of existence is death and murder? And why would you build characters up just to reduce them to this in the end? They killed Joel, a character whose actions made me question myself in his situation, who had a drive and a final hard choice to face. Why make it useless? What would he have thought about everything to unfold after? These characters seem to have not played the first game and got nothing from what the first game made me thing about.

Even more then the world I hated the game for not allowing any kind of choices. I waited in a blocked scene with the "Strike" prompt on screen for half an hour still hoping. But no, the descent must be total and brutal and useless and senseless. And the trivial fact is that it repeats all over. The game gives you the feeling something is about to change, some character seems to understand the crossing of a line and then it rolls back into the same action pattern from 3 chapters ago. That makes it so heard to buy into it. The suspension of disbelief turns into the stupor of understanding it's all fake as the characters stay the same and don't evaluate, don't build, don't progress and we are forced to witness their mistakes over and over again towards a perfectly clear cliche ending.

I get that games should pull us out from our comfort zone and make us contemplate the actions and the reasons behind actions, but it needs to have meaning. In here it was just gratuitous because of the ending. If the focus were to say loud and clearly "An eye for eye and the whole world goes blind" it failed miserably by not committing fully to it. The whole game the only language the characters can speak is "murder" and at the end we have a sudden change of heart? Really? Also, we expect from games to feed our fantasies, give us a glimpse into being heroes and better, to be a better reflection of reality.

So if you got so far you probably wonder, why a 10? I've really thought this trough. Truth is it's just like Joel said, If I were given a second chance I would do it exactly the same all over again. I've pictured if something like this would happen to someone I loved in real life. In games we are all valiant and honorable, and see the grander picture, but shift that to real life. Yes, I believe there won't be any more uncross-able lines, there won't be limits and the world would go blind. Is this the real nature of trauma? To break us into pieces and reduce us to nothing but grief and predatory instincts? I don't know but it feels real. The game reminded me of Frank Herbert's White Plague novel, which I loved. So I think I love this game too, but it's hard to love what shines a light on our darker selves and breaks our self-perceived illusions. How many games do you know to do manage to achieve this?

What would you have done if you were Ellie or Abby, in real life?

This game has great graphics, gameplay, and a great story. The fight scenes are well done and they appear appropriate for the type of game it is. The cut scenes are really well done. The AI is much tougher than the Last of us original, however, Ellie is able to pull off more acrobatic moves. The entire package comes together in a way that makes this a must-play game.

This franchise was known for its emotional and complex storytelling, and the story transcended identity politics. This latest edition utterly falls completely flat. I have been a naughty dog fan since the crash bandicoot days, but after seeing how little talent Neil and the ND remnants (most of the talent has left or was forced out) have for crafting compelling and coherent stories, I am going to be extremely weary of ND titles going forward. Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
