This sequel has gorgeous graphics, some intense  combat and great soundtrack. All this is marred by a garbage story, a story that **** on everything you did in the first game. This game features some very u likeable characters that I will never root for. In the first game, you feel like all the things you are doing are for a reason, you're doing it for the Improvement and survival of humanity, Ellie had the key to finding immunity. You felt like it was your responsibility to take care of Ellie, there was a bond. But in this game it doesn't have any of that, you can clearly see that this games priority was conveying a woke political message, pushing gay and trans ideology, painting men as weak, and they clearly let that get in the way of telling a good story and failed to make us care about these new characters. We get enough of this from Hollywood.  If they want to make a game like this, that's fine, but start with a new franchise, don't ruin a good one. People don't get upset that this content exists, they get upset that it's forced onto existing IP's. The reason they do this is because if it was an original IP, nobody would buy it. This game is a huge disappointment and a spit in the face of any fan of the first game. Expand

What’s so frustrating about Part 2 is that the game seems to have all the pieces necessary to do just that. But those pieces end up getting lost as the game also tries to tell an entirely new story, one that tries to expand the Last of Us world into a generalized setting for an anthology of loosely connected stories. The end result never comes together in a satisfying way.

That doesn’t take away from the many enjoyable, memorable, and even emotional moments as Part 2’s barrels from promising start to messy conclusion. But it also serves as a marked comedown from the quiet, directed, self-contained confidence of the first game.

I don’t regret the time I spent back in the world of The Last of Us. But a big part of me was left wondering if its creators just should have left well enough alone.

    Postive things
    - The gameplay feels so close with part 1 that makes you feel like you were in home
    - You're gonna love Ellie's flashbacks.
    - Ellie and Dina have a natural relationship that does not feel forced at all.
    Neutral things
    - Despite the fact that it's a PS4 game the graphics feels so PS3, Do´not misunderstand me, they look great but ND could improve more in some facial actions like Dina, sometimes feels kind of computarized compared to Ellie.
    - Sometimes the exploration takes so much time just for nothing that makes it boring, kind of Death Stranding
    Negative Things:
    - Flashbacks inside flashbacks
    - The History has a bad writting, the circle of violence became a joke
    - Abby is not what you though but her character feels forced in the history

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story is **** and it ruins TLOU1.

Gameplay: 8/10 It's the same gameplay as the first game, for better or worse. Slightly worse in some areas but can't complain about what was already good having some stains.

Graphics: 10/10. Look at it. What do I need to explain?

Consistency: 4/10 What is consistency? Why it's keeping things in line with established knowledge and lore. This game fails at it on several occasions. The inconsistency on Joel's personality, Ellie's personality, Ellie's immunity, and established clicker lore is terrible.

Story: 4/10 Look at this point I don't need to tell you how to feel about the story. Personally I thought it was trite and poorly handled. I have some closing thoughts but as a story, it's okay at best. The beats and ideas they chose to do aren't the problems. It's arriving at them and how they're handled. None of these ideas are new, but the presentation and manner we experience them are **** terrible. That being said, Ellie and Dina do not have the carrying power that Joel and Ellie had, or even Nathan and anyone else in an Uncharted game. Maybe you'll feel differently and be engaged but for me, they were boring.

PR: 0/10 [SPOILERS IN THIS SECTION] Neil Druckmann, regardless of what can be proven or not strikes me as insufferable. To the potential OC who spits on our old protagonist and almost shoots the new one. The new protag who despite getting their revenge doesn't suffer for it at all. The same protag who is then **** and railed by possible Druckmann OC. The masochistic interviews that amount the game to no fun here and the alleged mistreatment of employees all really make me not like this game from the outset and I'll admit that. So if you think any part of this review has a bias, maybe that's why.

Overall: Eh/10. I wasn't going to buy 2, but I made sure I got a taste of what's here. And what's here sucks. This feels like a video game in which Druckmann decided he'd do what he wanted, tell a story in which he spat on the first game in every conceivable way possible, and then the actual gameplay was an afterthought. I would not be surprised if there was a plan to have you run through this game with zero combat. Because Druckmann thinks he's Kojima.

I don't know why the game seems to hate the first one so much, but it's apparent. And if you find some joy in this game, more power to you. You spent 60 bucks on this product and you deserve to get something out of it, even if I think it's a waste of your money.

All in all, just go play Last of Us 1 and enjoy it. Because this game will actively poison any desire to revisit the franchise. If you take anything away from this review, there are better games to play, including the original. Lisa, Pathologic, and others do this kind of idea way better.

There's a lot more to go into but I've already written way more then I was willing to.

As a videogame it's a 6, as a sequel, it's a 4. And as a piece of media, I beg every single one of you to never play this game.

PS: Any reviewer who gave this game a 10 needs to have their journalistic integrity questioned.

The Last of Us Part II has a real problem telling a story. The plot is mangled and characters do things extremely out of character that make no sense when considering the first game's plot. It's heartbreaking to see such a legacy be thrown away like this. You can tell the writers sat down and and really focused on characters instead of a story. They decided to write this story based around characters they really wanted to broadcast, as opposed to writing the characters that fit the story, into the story they wanted to tell. The game suffers immensely because of this and likely won't be a patch to fix it. At this point, I'm just hoping not to see a third.

Also, isn't it a bit odd reviewers could only talk about a small portion of the game? Almost like they're hiding something in the latter half? That 95 is definitely not truthful. I think the voices of the actual fan base here are a lot more important than those of reviewers who weren't even allowed a full game. This game is equivalent to being spit on and shouldn't even have the last of us title attached to it.

The graphics are pretty though.. whoopdie doo, I suppose. And the gameplay mildly expanded upon, but more or less stuck in the last gen. But in a game so heavily revered for its story, I don't think these aspects are the ones everyone is worried about meeting their expectations. The story is such a mangled mess, I can't give it anything higher than a 3. In a game so heavily dependent on story to really come together, it's like a macaroni painting without the glue.

Abby would have been better character if they didn't set up the death in that context, the storytelling is bad and upside down, it could have been done midway or above through a different way where you make players love Abby too but then **** goes down, and you could have made the fight between the two is mixed like she kicks Abby and you blink and you are taking control of Abby now and then like that until it fit more sensibly, this was poor taste, this plot is ok but not in that arrangement, i wish i love to play Abby i liked her but the **** her story tooooooooooooooooooooooooo early, i dont care about SJW stuff in the game as long as i enjoy the game, but i hated how they told the story and how they ended joel story, they should have made people love Abby in gameplay with her time then make the player torn when the times is up, not like that im sad.

The last of us II Definitely a good game, with a good technical part (the same moment with a foggy city) I was very surprised that the old PlayStation 4 has enough power to run it, the physics is cool, the graphics are nowhere better, the details are very good ... But here's what spoiled the game: The plot! Yes, right now there will be spoilers, the moment with Joel, where Abby beats him to death with a stick, it's cruel, a very strong scene, but the game has a disgusting ending because of this, I think that if Abby was killed, okay, everything would be more or less, but to forgive the one who actually killed Ellie's father is stupid, I understand why it was necessary, but this is a stupid move, I love Joel and I find it hard to believe in his death. 3 Expand

I loved Last of Us Part 1. Great story, compelling characters, optimisim in the face of something disastrous that occurred to society and still hunts them. This.... this is none of that. The characters from the first game are changed so radically that they act and behave nothing like them in this game. They either got a personality transplant or got lobotomized. And then we come to the 'spoilers'. Yes folks, the spoilers that leaked were correct for the most part (Abby isn't trans though, but the designers sure went out of their way to make her into quite a manly woman, and there's a sex scene with her getting it from behind that's just.... wow).

Now, the gameplay itself is about what we had in part 1. Not a whole lot of changes (jumping was added but doesn't make much difference). Combat system is about the same, just with new and smoother animations. Honestly expected a lot more, and innovative changes to gameplay and combat, which was disappointing, it feels dated in that manner.

The actual graphics are absolutely beautiful, and about the only very good thing about this game - I'm surprised they managed to coax that level of graphics out of the PS4

But then we get to the actual plot and story. The worst is what they do to Joel. Completely different personality, doesn't act anything like he did in the first game, and within the first few hours, Abby, the new character (Druckman once claimed that Ellie would be the only playable character - straight up lied to us) you're forced to play for a good portion of the game, bashes his brains in with a 9 iron. That in itself made me want to quit playing - I sure as hell quit watching Walking dead when they had Negan beat Glenn's brains out with his bat. I don't understand, do these people think being edgelords with over the top violence makes something better? It doesn't, especially with all the constancy of it, and your inability to choose non-violence or to do something other than what they force you to do in the story (and then wag their finger at you about how bad your violence is!)

Anyway, after Abby caves Joel's head in with a golf club like she's on Office Space going at a printer, you're literally forced to play as this person, which is even more sickening. Honestly, between the ultraviolence and the forced play as this character, there was only so far I could go before shutting off the game. I'll probably sell it at a loss on e-bay, because I sure ain't going to finish this garbage.

Very disappointed in Naughty Dog, they've fallen way off since Uncharted and Last of Us 1 when it comes to character and story. Don't think I'll be buying from them again.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Firstly the gameplay, scenery and most of the dialogue between missions is amazing as it was in the first game. Some of my favourite parts in the game was hearing the little conversations between the main characters and old Joel + Ellie flash back dialogue. (SPOILER) But the elephant in the room the story. It is unbelievably disappointing. The story begins with amazing fan service I.e seeing the characters we love thriving years after the first game, meeting some interesting new characters along the way, until the game throws a curve ball, severing the ties with one of these beloved characters, Joel. The story then morphs into a revenge story which is fine in the grand scheme of things, but it slowly starts to force empathy for the characters we are drawn to hate, also forcing an ark where u play as the woman responsible for beating Joel to death with a golf club, which is far to long. I felt like I was on auto pilot and being fed a narrative for no reason.

It becomes apparent the game just keeps throwing brief flash backs of Joel to mess with the attachments we have grown to him especially towards the end of the game when the two girls we play as finally fight. With this theme we are treated to an unbearably brutal part of the game, we are forced to play as the villain just after they have shot and killed one of the nicest friends portrayed in the game, then shooting tommy in the face obviously done in the moment to make players think he is dead. At this moment I almost switched off the game. The game then forces you to chase down Ellie and beat her to a pulp. The rest only gets worse from there, finally ending with the last word of the script, Joel once again being thrown in our faces like nothing with a “yep”. How bout a no.

The biggest con is the story. l'm not upset that they had a heavy, unsettling, surprising storyline. In fact, that can be fun and interesting and thought provoking. The the characters and backstory are so unlikeable that you can't empathize with their reasoning. The result of that is just feeling (as the player) frustrated and betrayed. I didn't enjoy the gameplay and I didn't enjoy the story and I didn't empathize or feel connected to any of the characters or their motivations. It's a bad game. Druckman made it impossible to empathize and care about new characters whilst assassinating old, well-loved ones.

What made me fall in love and become invested in the first game was: the characters, their interactions, the harsh bleak world contrasted against these people who find each other and have these moments of hope.

Unfortunately Part 2 lost most of this for me. Graphically the game is beautiful, nothing bad to say about combat except that it was nothing special/barely improved from the first game.

I’d have to rate this game a 3 as I simply did not enjoy it and felt no emotional investment in this new story or new characters.

It’s a shame a I was looking forward to this for years and played tlou part 1 several times over.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
