People are actually crying about playing with women.
People are actually crying that Joel died after he damned the whole world by taking maybe the only vaccine in the world.

This game is a masterpiece, I had a blast playing it.
The game-play is smooth, the graphics are amazing, the mechanics are great, and like a lot of games the story is not perfect but it is good.
I'm not going to give it 10/10 because there are some minor flaws, but the game is amazing nonetheless.

Stunning visuals, phenominal gameplay, and topnotch worldbuilding. Combat and enemies were expanded enough to keep things fresh and challenging. Puzzles feel organic, tough and unique. And the hidden dialogue, and scattered upgrades and scrap kept exploration rewarding.

While the original set an extraordinarily high bar to meet in it's storytelling, TLOU2 still manages to hold its own.

While I don't think it's quite as polished as the original, I feel that the general initial reception has been tainted by leaks and many went in looking to rush it through looking for excuses to hate it (if they played it themselves at all.) Which is a damned shame. Give the story a chance, it's nowhere near as bad as the bombers are making it out to be.

What an experience! Better than any movie I have ever watched and probably top 3 story lines of any game I have ever played. Better than any movie I have ever watched and probably top 3 story lines of any game I have ever played. Short review: Game play has not changed much from the last game, Graphics are top notch, Gore is off the chart, and the storyline is enthralling! Long review: I rarely pay full price for any game but going of the reputation of the previous title and its DLC, I pre-ordered this the night before the release to download overnight. From the very beginning you are thrown right back into the first game. The feeling of despair and disconnection are experienced as Joel describes to his brother the events that took place on his journey across the country. How he took something not only from the world but from Ellie herself. Something that gave her a purpose in life, that gave her a drive to continue as everyone else died around her. As the game goes on, we see them both come to grips with their past while trying to survive in a world with just a shred of light as they make their new home in Jackson.
I don't want to give too much else away, but the game runs you through almost every human emotion there is to be felt. You see the perspective of your enemies throughout the game’s multiple bloody conflicts (I do mean bloody). There is gore everywhere as you furiously try to stave off getting eaten alive, evade maniacs that want to make you a sacrifice, or crazies who want to put you into slavery as an infected fighting gladiator. As the credits rolled and the awesome acoustic score played, I sat reminiscing for 20 minutes on the experience of it all. There is something here for everyone. A story of a daughter and her benefactor turned father figure, a brother trying to help is own blood navigate through his second chance, and a daughter coming to grips with loss. I have heard some say the game is “pandering” to a larger audience. There is a strong LGBT and feminine presence in the game that in my opinion is woven into the story well and does not distract from the experience. Having played the first games DLC Left Behind, I already knew what to expect from Ellie’s character going into this one. I did very much like to see the strong presence of Asian characters throughout the game as well, something I have not often seen in American based story lines.
The only disappointment I had with the game is I felt the infected where kind of 3rd class advisories. Runners where no threat, clickers were barely a challenge even when alerted as you could just run away to a safe distance to shoot, and bosses such as the bloated where very few. Yet with even this there are two or three great fights with the infected culminating with what i will say is the "showdown" in the garage. All in all the fighting system as a whole could use just a little update to make it more dynamic. With all this being said, go into the game with an open mind, an extra pair of pants, and the will to survive. You will not be disappointed!

If you have already decided to hate this game before even playing it, maybe this review will sum up some info on what this game is trying to represent.
There were several things to look at when reviewing, but just to make it short I focused on story, gameplay, and scenery.
    • Story (8/10) The story is very well done. But to compare, which A LOT of people have, to the first game would be a major mistake. Part 1 and part 2 are both vastly different games in their style of tone, development, and character. Part 1 focuses on love, care, and grief; 3 concepts that require, quite literally, a whole game to develop. Concepts that make you love the characters you are with more and more with every step they take from Boston all the way to Salt Lake City (all true fans should know what that means). That type of detail requires calming and gradual build-up, how else are we going to develop care love for those characters? You cannot; it is a story arc that is very hard to master, which is what makes Last of Us 1 one of the best UNIQUE games of all time.
o Part 2, again in contrast to part 1, is centered mainly on anger, vengeance, and hate, 3 concepts that do NOT require development to the same level that part 1 concepts did. I am not saying that is a bad thing at all, I am simply saying that the tone that is represented throughout the whole game stems upon those particular concepts, and naughty dog does a great job showing how this flows throughout the whole story. This can be seen and understood by just relating the characters actions and motives to ourselves.
o When a person is angry they do not think straight, they let their frustration and rage get the better of them, and before you know it you are making mistakes that you would never have thought to do if you were thinking rationally, that is EXACTLY how part 2 plays out, and it is done so freaking well because these horrible decisions made by the characters is so rapid, so sudden, and so surprising. It is done so well to the point that it can anger players just for seeing what happened, and knowing how it is going to follow up throughout the game (which happened to me a few times, but that is exactly the point.) That is what makes this story so intense, so energetic, and so much fun.
o Now of course one argument you may give is: why would I care about such vengeful characters? Why feel attached to characters that are so hateful? Well that is sort of the dilemma and the challenge. Throughout the game you are thinking to yourself whether you want to root for the characters from beginning to end or wish them dead. The story gives you reasons to both love and hate these characters. Their actions can be argued to be justified and not justified, which makes the tone of the game so convoluted, and goes to show that anger, hate, and vengeance are never the answer. This at first will drive gamers crazy, you may even wonder if it is worth rooting for anyone at all, heck I struggled finding reasons to root for these characters, but that is what made me love it so much. The AGENDA of this game, from what I see, is that vengeance isn’t the answer, and you could end up losing everything if it consumes you.
o Also, a big thing that I think this game does a VERY good job with is closing out on one of the biggest cliffhangers ever made in gaming, and through it develop new story arcs for other characters, which inherently creates our new story in part 2.
o Again though, DO NOT expect the same type of feelings and tone you get throughout part 1 in part 2, you’ll be IMMENSLY frustrated and disappointed for the entire game if you do.

    • Gameplay (7/10) The gameplay can honestly be summed up with one word, and one word only: STEALTHY. Now that may seem like a weird word to use, but really there is no other way to mention the game play. You have to think on your feet with the scarce supplies that is available in order to take out the enemies that are coming at you from every possible direction. I personally really liked the game play, because I am a very big fan of stealth, but for some it can get very repetitive and tedious (which is understandable). But hey if you want to go in guns blazing at enemies, make sure you have a solid one hit kill weapon handy

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Incredible. Truly, an enjoyment to me. The story was gripping, real, and honest. Very much on par with the first in that regard. The Last of Us felt like a story, but also about people. The ending was definitely a scope of people and the decisions they make, for better or worse. Last of Us Part II takes that scope and puts it everywhere. Life is just people and the decisions they make, for better or worse. They just let it all happen right in front of you and leave you to sort out where you sit among it all and that's an insightful challenge. I enjoyed just sitting back at the credits and thinking, "wow, how do I feel about all this?" My only true critique is that the story narrative organically ends long before the game does. I understand that putting the Santa Barbara section in later as a DLC would have been damning to public regard, and that this will mostly not have another installment so ending it here was the only option. It just felt like overtime, but I still found the final scene with Joel to be very powerful and am overall satisfied.

The combat was similar enough for me to regain my bearings after spending years away from the first and I found that inspiring in a sense of, "Ok. I remember the flow now, I'm back in this." Jumping from one character to another with different equipment kept things fresh as a way of problem solving from a different angle.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Despite having script holes (like any story), having subplots that could have been better handled, and a narrative that perhaps is not as clear as in TLOU part 1. This game really challenged me many times, it puts us in very wild situations and It shows us a reality where no one is bad or good, a reality that hurts. Joel is a great example: we empathize with him, but he is not someone we should aspire to. He is someone who could not forget a painful past and that led him to make that decision at the end of the first game. In TLOU 2 he pays for his actions just like Abby losing her friends and Ellie losing them too. But ellie was the only one to realize that in the end and she chooses to overcome that past by leaving the guitar behind. Ellie's guitar and joel's watch symbolize the same, a wound, a past, the loss of a loved one and ellie, unlike joel, allows herself to forget, but mainly ... forgive herself and invite us to watch ellie and ask us if this trip to avenge joel was really worth it. Was it worth watching Ellie suffer just to satisfy us? Was it worth it for her to lose fingers? Was it worth avenging someone who didn't deserve it? maybe yes maybe not. but for me, it wasn't worth it.

Maybe the revenge story is the most cliche concept there is, but like TLOU part 1, they use those cliche concepts to create something fresh. And to say that TLOU 2 is just a simplistic and superficial revenge story would be stupid. It would be just as stupid for someone to say that TLOU part 1 is game about love and nothing else or treat Berserk's manga as a simple hate story with nothing more to do with content.

TLOU part 2 really came as a surprise to me, naughty dog took a big risk creating this story and I admire them for having that bravery ... good job naughty dog.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. At first I was angry at Abby for killing Joel, and then I see Abby's reasoning for her actions... and I just, couldn't help but to feel bad for her. Joel's past finally came back to bite him. I get that: "Abby should get her consequences! She gets away with killing Joel and gets everything she wants!" What I have to say to that is this: Joel, Tommy and Ellie kill like 99% of the people Abby cared about, and plus Abby also has a kid, Lev, to look after. If you know Joel and Ellie then you'd know they wouldn't kill someone and leave a kid hopeless and in danger because their protector/parent is dead. Gameplay: 10/10 - I just had so much fun, the tension, the suprises, the bad guys having names (got kinda annoying, but if you sneak around it won't be annoying as much.)

Story: 9/10 - there's so much plot twists that make me not know what's going on. Like: "Wait, should I still be angry at Abby? Yes, she killed Joel... but then again Joel did kill like 80% of the people Abby loved." **** like that have me on my feet and I live for it. I love when writers can have my emotions all over the place. Characters: 8/10. I'd rate it higher, but there wasn't enough character background on the characters that help with Abby in the beginning of the game. I also wanna see more of Ellie and Dina, Joel's character development was **** great. It's like Ellie is his daughter and he wasn't afraid to show he loves her, but still scared to say it with his own words. If that makes sense.

The ending hits hard. It's definitely something to really think about before saying it's good. There's not much I wanna say, I guess this is where I say this then, go pick up a copy! If $80 CAD is too much to spend right now then wait until a discount comes up for the game. The story will still be here no matter what.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This Game will probably be one of my favorite games of 2020. Now I'm not saying this game is better than the first game. But, it is still really Amazing. Ellie story is done in my opinion a well done way. Everything from the flashback to the ending made sense to me. Now the only critic I had for this game was that we play as Abby. To me I understand why we play as Abby because there are two sides to every coin but, I wish her story would have been cut down to make room for Ellie's story instead. Or better yet make her story a cutscene based story happening while Ellie story is happening. Another thing I see people complaining about is the ending and I get that but it makes sense. During the prologue Joel sings to Ellie before giving her the guitar. He states that " If I ever were to lose you. I'd surely lose myself." To me that is exactly what happened to Ellie. We see at the beginning of the story that Ellie is just trying to live a normal life the best she can. But, when Joel dies that world is shattered. When she deals with all the people that helped kill Joel you see she starts to break down because of some of the actions she took. Then we finally track down Abby again where we have our last fight. WHen she is about to kill Abby I believe when she sees Joel she realises that if she countinuess she will lose herself. She will be no better than Abby was. Risking her friends lives just to get revenge. When she returns to Her and Dinas farm, Dina and JJ are not there. She even tries to play the song Joel sang to her during the prologue but she is unable to since she lost her ring and pinky finger to Abby in their last fight. She truly did lose herself but she came back from it. Then we see Ellie put her guitar down and we see her walking away from the house from the window hopefully heading back to Jackson to possibly reunite with Dina and JJ. It makes sense that Ellie after everything finally realises that she did lose herself and now she is on a path to regain the person she once was. This ending to me made sense and was actually a fitting end to the story. This game was not perfect but, I don't believe it should receive all the hate it's getting. If you loved the first game I Highly Recommend that you get this game as well. This is definitely another top notch game by NaughtyDog. Expand

A bold choice for the franchise which I think really paid off. Gameplay is the same old last of us yet improved in every way, allowing you to freely explore the apocalyptic world as you so choose and discover memories of the oast.
