I was a bit nervous given all the controversy and drama surrounding the game. I really liked the original title, and was looking forward to this one. Well, it is amazing. It's not a flawless game, but no game is and this is definitely one of the best games ever made. I cannot believe that so many are review bombing this. They have not even played the game. Grow up. It's pathetic.

After 25 years of living in a post apocalyptic world and having done the kind of work Joël did the event leading to his execution look impossible to me. A guy with his background would never had been so relaxed with such a big group and rrevealedhis real name...
Forcing us to play such a beloved characters killer when is it a good idea i don't give a **** about Abby...
And weak ending it's highly illogical to think about Joël playing guitar as you're about to finally avenge him at best if you do guet a flashback is one about him guetting killed an then be even more motivated to fish the bith...but never would let the **** go...
They also made Ellie highly unlikable...
Making her selfish and unable to understand that it's because Joël loved her that he saved her in the even from the first opus.
They never at one moment in the story is the clicker outbreak given more info that player didn't know from the first game...

I think Naughty Dog had political messages they wish to tell using the story and it was more important to them than to deliver a good story

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Abby is a terrible and ugly character, inside and out. This game was supposed to be about Ellie, yet you spent half the game playing through garbage you don't care about. I get what the writers were trying to do, but they fail in making you care about Abby, which makes the game fail in my opinion.
The gameplay is exactly the same as the first game, except you can go prone now. Very little innovation.
The only good this about this game is the graphics. They are the best you will see on the PS4. The environments are insanely detailed and the lighting effects are amazing.
I found the game tedious to finish. Very dissatisfied and disappointed in this entry of the series.

The graphic was fantastic, superb gameplay, great characters especially Abby. She's a great bodybuilder.
Outstanding story, i really like that in the end they took everything from Ellie. She's a horrible character anyway. She deserved it. I hate joel too, i wish he had suffered more. And that sex scene was soooo disgus... i mean sooo romantic.
i'm really happy that Abby survived without any punishment, i hope she will be the only main character in part 3. She's the greatest character Naughty Dog ever created.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The only reason this game hasn't gotten a 0 from me is because of the graphics and design and gameplay which gets very repetitive (which is almost exactly similar to the first one). The plot ruins the entire game. Tbh, I knew that there was a high possibility Joel is gonna die. But the writers literally fecked his entire character to kill him in the most improbable way which is what ruined this for me. Don't think the ppl upset with this are just upset because a beloved char died. Most ppl aren't upset with the RDR series which have killed off loved chars as well. Joel in TLoU : "He ain't even hurt"
Joel in TLoU 2 : Saves a person from zombies while running *away* from said zombies and goes to their base and says "I'm Joel, we live nearby" to a group of heavily armed strangers.

They just changed his entire personality so that he could be killed at the start of the game for "shock factor".

Not to mention the fact that this is a revenge story without any revenge. Ellie kills dozens if not hundreds of ppl to get to Abby and then spares Abby because ReVeNgE iS bAd. Basically a bs move to force bs philosophy down the players' throat. Don't even get me started on the fact that Neil inserted himself as a character in the game. And his character spit on Joel's dead body. Not only that, he had the most disgusting sex scene with Abby.

Also, ND's backhanded schemes of misleading advertisements and their overall response has been pretty telling why this game was so disconnected from the fans. TL,DR: This game completely ruined the characters and character arcs from the previous game. Its a revenge story with no revenge. Its the equivalent of Game of Thrones S8. The creators don't seem to know the difference between "realistic" and just straight up torture/misery porn.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've finished the game recently and finally gave in to the realization it was a waste of time. I kept looking for arguments in it's favor. I've talked a lot about with my partner. Still, the lesson I learned from the game is that I shouldn't have played it. I won't describe the plot itself but only rant about the grand design of it.

The processes it triggered in me are not positive or aiming to improve me as a person. Nor did I have fun playing it which kind is the point of a game. I felt like Sisif pushing this boulder of sadness further and further only to fall back to my knees as my hopes of a deeper and better meaning got crushed by the next character's decision. I wanted to stop during the game multiple times because I understood where it was heading. I only finished it because I figured it was only fair if I wanted to express an opinion about it.

While I started with affection towards the world and the characters I ended up hating everyone equally as it all turns into a brutal descent into madness. Honestly I hope they won't make a part 3 as I can't see myself touching any of these characters again. How can one love characters who's only scope of existence is death and murder? And why would you build characters up just to reduce them to this in the end? They killed Joel, a character whose actions made me question myself in his situation, who had a drive and a final hard choice to face. Why make it useless? What would he have thought about everything to unfold after? These characters seem to have not played the first game and got nothing from what the first game made me thing about.

Even more then the world I hated the game for not allowing any kind of choices. I waited in a blocked scene with the "Strike" prompt on screen for half an hour still hoping. But no, the descent must be total and brutal and useless and senseless. And the trivial fact is that it repeats all over. The game gives you the feeling something is about to change, some character seems to understand the crossing of a line and then it rolls back into the same action pattern from 3 chapters ago. That makes it so heard to buy into it. The suspension of disbelief turns into the stupor of understanding it's all fake as the characters stay the same and don't evaluate, don't build, don't progress and we are forced to witness their mistakes over and over again towards a perfectly clear cliche ending.

I get that games should pull us out from our comfort zone and make us contemplate the actions and the reasons behind actions, but it needs to have meaning. In here it was just gratuitous because of the ending. If the focus were to say loud and clearly "An eye for eye and the whole world goes blind" it failed miserably by not committing fully to it. The whole game the only language the characters can speak is "murder" and at the end we have a sudden change of heart? Really? Also, we expect from games to feed our fantasies, give us a glimpse into being heroes and better, to be a better reflection of reality.

So if you got so far you probably wonder, why a 10? I've really thought this trough. Truth is it's just like Joel said, If I were given a second chance I would do it exactly the same all over again. I've pictured if something like this would happen to someone I loved in real life. In games we are all valiant and honorable, and see the grander picture, but shift that to real life. Yes, I believe there won't be any more uncross-able lines, there won't be limits and the world would go blind. Is this the real nature of trauma? To break us into pieces and reduce us to nothing but grief and predatory instincts? I don't know but it feels real. The game reminded me of Frank Herbert's White Plague novel, which I loved. So I think I love this game too, but it's hard to love what shines a light on our darker selves and breaks our self-perceived illusions. How many games do you know to do manage to achieve this?

What would you have done if you were Ellie or Abby, in real life?

I beat it and havent stopped thinking about it for 5 days. One of the most visceral experiences I've had with a tale in any medium. Gameplay is solid but not revolutionary. Environments, animation, design, music, acting, and overall presentation are as usual a new benchmark set by naughty dog.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Joel dies. Not only does he die, but he dies like an animal. He dies because incompetent writers made him incompetent for the sake of getting him killed. Abby gets everything. She’s living the good life. Hey, her friends might be dying one by one, but it’s all good. She got to avenge her NPC father from the first game. What does Ellie get? Nothing. She goes on a long and arduous journey to avenge her father figure. She loses everything. She finally reaches Abby, and having piled thousands of bodies just to get to her, decides— “Eh. I’m not feeling it anymore, Mr. Krabs.” She is left alone and broken at the end of the game. Abby gets off scot free because Neil couldn’t stand the thought of killing the character he mocapped a sex scene with. The game doesn’t have a bad ending.
    It has a pathetic ending.

What a waste of time. Disgraceful. You’re better off pretending it never existed.

Story is way different than the first, it made you think so hard what will happen next, and it gets more complex due to the amount of important characters in this game. The story may be divisive especially about the controversy regarding death on a few characters. BUT, if you judge it objectively and stop thinking selfishly that how the story continue SHOULD be the same as how you want it to be, i'm pretty sure you will like it.

A lot of creative environment puzzles (in fact, there's a lot of em), can't believe i read a review and he/she said that the puzzles are gone and he/she has played the game. dude, stop review bombing.

Graphics is amazing, it's the most beautiful game this generation imo. Frame rate is really stable (locked 30) and the animation is godly.

It's okay if you hate LGBT but please don't let it divert your opinions on the game. Just stop.

Gameplay is SO MUCH FUN if you really like the feeling of being hunted, or hard stealth game. It's way harder to stealth just because of the introduction of dogs and how big the areas are with much more smarter AI and better vision for the enemies. The human enemies are diverse as well!

Don't believe the lies. When you're lost in darkness, look for the light.

You may become enraged at times or suffer from a broken heart, but any story that can make you feel that way deserves maybe a little attention. We get to see two characters filled with rage and despair who see each other as pure evil, and start to see their actions weigh heavily on them.
Pacing off? Oh definitely! This story could have flowed a lot more smoothly. But I'm definitely glad at most of the story/information being given. Abby could of done with a lot more building up and background to start off her side of the story.
Beautiful graphics and world? HELL YES! So many small details and plenty of info around to pull us into the world! It was a long game, it left me winded and just waiting for the end at a certain point. On the contrary, now that it's been a couple days since finishing, I'm actually trying to psych myself up to go back into it on plus mode. I'm not looking forward to certain parts, but I really enjoyed the game overall.i know I'm going against popular opinion here, so who am I to say to play it?

By the end of the story, everything about the game made sense and was a real blast to play through. I took my time to explore and find all the lore and finished it in around 24 hours. There aren’t many single player games with that length, there aren’t many games that actually made me feel the way I did when playing. The whole premise had an atmosphere that is extremely immersive and the fluidity of the games progression is spot on. I can’t fault it, if I’m honest. You get multiple sides of the story and when it all actually comes together, it’s a wild and brutal ride that will leave a mark! If you enjoyed the first, you will no doubt enjoy this one. I was very anti-TLOU2 after I saw the leaks a few months back and I already knew the general jist of the story. But I didn’t let that spoil the game, the leaks happen within the 2 hour mark and the rest of the 22 hours it took for me to finish came as a surprise. The lore in this game is incredible, there are many different stories going on that you physically read through. I literally have nothing bad to say about this game. Apart from the fact people are leaving bad reviews for no reason when you can clearly see they never played it!

Favourite chapter: Seattle Day 2 - Ground Zero. This chapter was absolutely incredible. If you enjoyed the first one, buy this game and don’t listen to all the negativity! You will not be disappointed! The last 3 hours of the game will blow you away!

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
