This is why we need critics. It seems like an outdated thing to have, until a group of you morons decides to get butt hurt over decisions that the developers made (If it were up to you both games would likely have been awful). This was, in my opinion, a masterpiece and a brilliant next step in the Last of Us 2 saga. I can only hope that they do an equally amazing job on Last of Us 3.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This game might be the biggest disappointment of this generation. Although graphics and sounds are good, the story is terrible. All new characters are annoying and hateable. They are a pain in the ass and you never ever root for them or get attached to them. The story is very bad and the pacing sucks. This is not good enough for a story driven game.

Technically perfect game, almost perfect gameplay, over the top graphics and facial expfessions. Regarding the story it’s definitely something different from the original, it may not be your cup of tea but it’s an incredibly daring gamble that in my opinion pays off almost completely. Some parts feel too dragged for story reason and the pacing in the second half it’s quite bad.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is indeed a masterpiece, it takes some heavy decisions in the story and makes you feel a range of emotions till the end.

After going through countless reviews and reaction videos, I found 3 main things gamers hated the most

    1) Joel’s death
    2) Playing as abby
    3) Abby lives

Let’s see the story from a mature perspective rather than as fanboys.

Abby is full of hate, she had only one goal to take revenge from her father's killer.

Ellie goes down the same path, she had only goal taking revenge from Joel's (father figure) killer.

The story shows you both sides of the coin, and questions you who's revenge matters? Is eye for an eye, a solution? Who is right & who is wrong?

If Ellie kills Abby, would the cycle of vengeance stop? Wouldn't Lev come behind Ellie later for killing Abby who is now like sister to him? The most important would Joel would have wanted his "Kiddo" to devote her life for vengeance?

You start seeing Joel in Abby when you play her story, you see how she kills her own people to save Lev, something that Joel does for Ellie.

What vengeance brings to Ellie? She ends up alone at the end.

She goes to Santa Barbara thinking that killing Abby would bring her peace, and just when Abby was about to die at the hands of Ellie, she remembers Joel looking at her, she understands he would never have wanted this from her.

Abby lost her father, went on a path of vengeance, all her friends died too.

Ellie lost Joel, went on a path of vengeance, lost friends, her love, her fingers too, she now can't play that guitar which Joel always wanted her to play.

If you see the story from a fanboy's perspective you will definitely not care about the deep emotions and notions the game is challenging.

The ending flashback scene will definitely tear you apart. Ellie - I'll see you around.
    Joel - Yep

It's a very rare game, we don't get games like these very often, cherish it. I hope more people give positive ratings/reviews. It hurts to see such low score for a masterpiece like this.

I seriously wish it becomes Game of the Year.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let start with the positives. Props to the animation and art team for doing a great job enhancing the game to groundbreaking quality. The rope physics are amazing. Second, gameplay is a definite step-up from the last game but not by much. I love the little map you pull out. I also like that dogs can sniff you out and that enemies are more human. It's way more brutal, and the gore porn would've been justified if empathy was a central theme, but it isn't. Still, it's impressive that you can choose how you want to torture/kill your enemies. Music really had its moments during Joel and Ellie flashbacks. Otherwise, it's forgettable.
Now for bad: the plot and message of revenge wasn't bad; they just really should've executed it better. I don't mind if characters die; as long as they get deserving deaths that respect their legacy, it can be a great thing. But no, the dev had to spit on Joel (which he actually does in the game) by making him dumb for plot convenience, torturing him slow in front of his brother and daughter, and while she screams for it to stop, kill him, and let Ellie and Tommy live. This is within the first 2 hours of the game. I don't know what else could be as malicious to fans as that. And who cares about the cure anymore; let's make it a revenge story that isn't satisfying. Forgive the killer who slow tortured your dad in front of you. it's not that the revenge trope is bad. This game just fails at it. You're supposed to empathize with Abby but she's not worth the forgiveness. Oh you feel bad about two kids you left behind? Tell that to the thousands of orphans you've made from killing Scars. Tell that to a father you slowly tortured and killed in front of his daughter and brother. Oh you gave Ellie a chance and she wasted it? You had a chance and wasted it. At least Joel made it quick for your dad, a single shot to the head. You decide to take it so much further, even after he saves your life. She kills without thinking and gets her friends killed and/or traumatized. Not to mention, she had sex with her friend's husband who is pregnant with their child. Let's also not forget the game forces you to play this ungrateful brat for the last half and forces you to fight Ellie. I still wish she died but no, the game doesn't let you kill her and here's the best part: I feel just as much animosity toward Ellie. Wtf happened to her character from the first game? She hates violence; she's empathetic; she was the light in the darkness for me AND Joel. Now, she's a sociopathic monster. She's like "oh god, I tortured someone!" when first, you would've never done that and second, you literally are committing a genocide along the way. Does WOLF soldier #237's life matter? Y'know, the one you set on fire? Or maybe the one you shot the leg off of who screamed until they bled out and died? This violence is bad agenda just doesn't work in this world. If you really wanted me to feel bad for the people I'm killing, don't force me to kill them! It's not effective to be all like "oh you took all these lives. You're the monster," when the game didn't give me a choice.
The political agenda is also just so pandering. As a bisexual female myself, I love that Ellie is lesbian and it felt natural in the DLC. I just wish they made her and Dina that natural. Their chemistry is a one night stand. Wasn't Dina really flirty? Why would she suddenly want to settle? Because Ellie needs a gf for the plot. And not only is she unrelatable, but she's an idiot too. Don't have sex without protection. If you do, expect you'll get pregnant and don't come along on a journey. Now, she's a dead weight, and there's also some stupid message about "pregnant women can fight too" with Dina and Mel. There's a reason pregnant women aren't allowed to fight: it's so idiots like these two won't hurt their baby. They're trying to be strong and independent, but you're just being irresponsible. Let's also not forget the tragic story of all the male characters killed off for "plot convenience" AKA make the world women-only: Joel, Manny, Owen, but the worst was definitely Jesse. He knocked up Dina, and they kill him without any mourning. It just feels like "No strings attached now! You can be the father Ellie!" That really soured the farm part for me, although it was really cute. And I liked Jesse a lot. He had better sense than anybody and was merely a victim of a love triangle with two stupid people. The exact situation can be applied to Yara's death too. Congratz, you have a pet Lev, Abby. Your dream came true! As a bisexual female, the only LGBTQ+ representation I will take is Lev. All the other female leads are either killing machines and/or irresponsible biggots.

The only reason my rating is so high is because artists, animators, and gameplay designers obviously put their all into it. They shouldn't be discounted because the story was so god-awfully done. Good job guys, and writers, the LGBTQ+ community isn't that easy to suck up to.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Having only played part 1 of this franchise about 3 years ago, i did not have to wait as long as a lot of other fans. Those 3 years were filled with pure excitement, anticipation and, of course, impatience. I absolutely loved part 1. It nestled its way close to my heart, and part 2 is no different. I put almost 32 hours into this game and I loved every single second of it. The story was nothing I could have ever expected. When they revealed that the doctor Joel had killed, was Abby's father I audibly gasped. I have smiled and shed tears throughout the whole game. Happiness and sadness were both prominent. Not to mention relief. I absolutely hated Ellie for leaving the farm, for leaving the seemingly perfect life she had with Dina and JJ, but I knew she had to go after Abby again. I felt it coming but still hated it. The Ellie boss fight was one of the hardest battles I had ever had to fight, or so I thought. The final fight against Abby certainly takes that spot. I cannot describe how desperate I was for Ellie to stop fighting. Every punch she landed made me sick to my stomach. I didn't want her to kill Abby so I just kept making her dodge Abby's punches, hoping the game would somehow sense that she, that I, didn't want any of this happening. Relief coursed through my body when Ellie stopped, realising that killing Abby would amount to an even greater loss. In the end, letting Abby live was what Ellie needed the most, which we can conclude when looking at Ellie's journal when she visits the farm again. This was one hell of a game and I applaud anyone involved in the making of it. No game, or any other type of media, is ever perfect but this game comes incredibly close. Here's to more games like this, and maybe a part 3 someday, please? Expand

The story in this game is better than the story in most movies. Without spoiling anything, every story best is spectacular and people are just upset because either they wanted an easy to swallow fan service story or they are complaining because characters dare to not all be white straight men. God forbid diversity exists after the apocalypse.

This game suffers from some serious pacing issues being over 20 hours long and having serval narrative stops that drain all the momentum HOWEVER the game is so strong combat and character building wise that Im still inclined to rate it highly. It is nt as got as the first (though what sequel is?) but it still really enjoyed it and found myself attached to most of the characters.
