The fact the creators have followed the obvious route of killing off a main character is simply annoying. They could have been original and kept the protagonist of the 1st game alive, no, got to follow that cliche route that they must die. I wasn't even shocked, I was simply bored, nothing original... Simply boring. 7 years and you give me this rubbish... Won't be buying any games from Naughty Dog anymore.… Expand

    The best game I have ever played. I never felt so many mixed emotions. It makes you hate, reflect, think and above all suffer. Never a game made me feel so much, and for that I am grateful.

    Terrible game. Attempts badly to impose unpopular liberal ideologies on the gamer. Terrible story, with great graphics and game mechanics. Such a waste. Also nobody cares about all that lgbtq crap anymore. If you want to live a perverted life then go for it. Don’t push that crap on the majority of the population who doesn’t care at all about it.

    A phenomenal journey that makes you feel every emotion. Things may have changed in the story, but Naughty Dog has given us a real experience worth going through.

First of all i am writing this review because of all the unwarranted criticism this game is getting.I thought if people write reviews without having played the game just because it is cool to hate this game, I can also write a review praising it for how good it is.
    After playing this i did not know i actually wanted a sequel. I am absolutely glad of the direction it took because in this way it is even more unique and fresh than what it could've been if Naughty Dog went with a safer approach. This story is brutal and shocking. This is a clear departure from the easier to swallow formula of the first game which focused on a wonderful relationship while it still explored the dark depths of humanity that are revealed by the coming of the virus. This goes all the way into the darkest depths of character study. The plot is set in motion by Joel's death which comes very early into the game and while expecting it, it still managed to surprise me. This is a brutal undignified death that further explores the dark state of the world. It also launches Ellie's brutal revenge story in motion. The game departs from the Ellie we know from the first one. We see a more mature version of her and we observe as she slowly loses her established humanity piece by piece in her obsession with revenge . The game also wants you to see the game in this first half through her eyes antagonizing the group responsible for Joel's death making it easier to connect with Ellie's struggle.In the second half of the game we play as a new character named Abby who is responsible for brutally murdering Joel in the beginning of the game. I was intrigued by this narrative choice and I was curious to see if the game would be effective with such a twist in perception. It is in my opinion a brilliant design choice that further enhances the story suggesting the message that in such a depressing world it is all a matter of perspective. We see Abby's relationships and friendships akin to what we see in Ellie's part of the story. And as the game slowly shifts to Abby's perspective you start to see Ellie as the villain. All of this further enhances in my opinion the idea that the game tries to convey. It wants to depress you, make you feel desperate as if you are a part of the lifeless world that it represents. I can totally understand why some people cannot appreciate this shift of narrative because of the passion they had for the first game which still is from a narrative standpoint a masterpiece. I do not agree with the clearly fake reviews that nitpick at the game simply because it's cool using arguments such as an nonexistent political agenda that apparently is behind the game. I can also not understand the people who stopped playing after Joel died. So in conclusion this game is absolutely unique and fresh and further illustrates the power of immersion videogames have achieved. It is also a bleak character study that explores humanity's most primitive and overpowering desires    … Expand

    This game is full of **** The story.... Really sucks....Sad for those super fans waited for 7 years for part 2 and end up like **** I hate this game so much!!! What kinda schizophrenic and antisocial personality can create a game like this!!!

    However that's it, all it gets are 3 points, it does feel like it tried to fill an agenda, and thus is doing so, it almost completely threw away what the 1st game built up, all that love and affection you had towards the main characters, it gets thrown away, played with, plus they also lied about not having to kill the dogs, and most of all, in the previous trailers, they made it seem like you could play as Joel/ that Joel would be alive for most of the game, but nope, killed him off in a stupid way, they completely made him dumb, in the first game, he ran over someone to be cautious, because he didn't know if that person was actually hurt, so to not take any chances, he ran them over.
    So to just be that careless, and just die like that?
    It enraged me, it made me close out the game.
    However I finished it, for the sake of "Maybe it'll get better" boy was I wrong, should of just stopped playing.    … Expand

    I was filled with many emotions during this game. But i would change nothing and i mean NOTHING about this game. Absolutely amazing, this is truly an experience to play. The things that happen show that this isn't an ideal world where there are rainbows and butterflies. And if you can't understand that don't play the game.     In my opinion, It’s a deeply well-told story to the point where I genuinely cannot fathom why anyone who has fully beaten the game, not just heard the spoilers, not just watched a streamer snark their way through it or watched ripped YouTube cutscenes, doesn’t appreciate what it has achieved here. But again, I can only offer my own opinion and my own defense of what I think is a must-playIn my opinion, It’s a deeply well-told story to the point where I genuinely cannot fathom why anyone who has fully beaten the game, not just heard the spoilers, not just watched a streamer snark their way through it or watched ripped YouTube cutscenes, doesn’t appreciate what it has achieved here.     It's a perfect second part to an already amazing story. Instead of giving us a fan service sequel, Naughty Dog has done something truly magical by willingly taking huge risks to tell a beautiful and painfully tragic tale. The people who have flocked here in anger either haven't played it or made up their minds about how they felt about the game before playing it.

I saw the leaks, I understand why the plot upset some fans. I was pissed about happened to Joel.. but understand this. The Last of Us series is a story; A compelling, gripping, emotional story and man did this game deliver that. The relationship that Abby and Ellie shared was remarkable, the similarities undeniable and the frustration, passion and revenge that Ellie sought for Joel's demise is POWERFUL. The way fans are upset about Joel's death, is that same feelings Ellie has. ONCE AGAIN I can't stress that you won't be emotional and.moved playing this game.… Expand

    Every person giving this game a 5 or lower just because of some decisions they made are really pathetic individuals and really should make their own games then.

    Such a great game, The only criticism that can be made in my opinion is about how bold the story is. I believe that Tha last of Us 2 is like wearing glasses, you’ll only know if you actually like it if you try it yourself. And mine fitted perfectly. Congrats to naughty dog

Pero la historia es una decepción amarga, el primer TLoU es uno de mis juegos favoritos. Su final me conmovió y los personajes de Ellie y Joel me encantaron... lastimosamente esta secuela le da un tratamiento terrible a la narrativa. Y el final no es ni la sombra de loFrancamente no puedo expresar mi decepción de manera adecuada. El juego en gráficos y jugabilidad cumple perfectamente.     On technical level this game is a masterpiece in it's class. There's no doubt about it. Graphics, gameplay, animations, sounds... oh my god the atmosphere of this game is amazing. The music fits so well with each passing moment and it makes your heart race or calms you down when mellow parts of the game comes.
    Definitely not a game for everyone. If you don't like extreme violence where    On technical level this game is a masterpiece in it's class. There's no doubt about it.     I registered to support the game. She does not deserve anger. She deserves an objective assessment, perhaps of discussion. My personal rating corresponds to the one I voted for. TLOU 2 is the most vivid and emotional experience of recent years.

    Now this a game. Gave me all the feels. I AM NOT THE HERO IN THIS GAME. A game about violence has no hero. Amazing story. Heres hoping for a cure (looking at u ps5) !!CHEERS!!

    After playing 20+ hours of the game i must say. Overall game is pretty bad. Only good part is graphics and music. The gameplay feels old and uninspirit. Shooting part is straight up broken, just as broken as stealth. Writing is awfull. Overall i give it 4/10 it does not deserve more.

    If you care about the first one, I suggest you not to play this.
    It's actually heartbreaking and you will not feel any positive feelings playing the game, not even after    Decisions were made.... absolutely bland story, after playing 2 hours you can see the ending from miles away, the only thing you can't predict are the amazingly stupid, careless and arrogant decisions made in this game.

    The only good thing about the game was the gameplay and graphics. Rest was a pile of garbage. Such a let-down from such a good game the first one was. Don’t buy this folks!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The last of Us part 1 was a 10/10 story with probably 6/10 gameplay in my opinion. Well here in the second one it is probably the opposite. I LOVE this new gameplay mechanics when you play as Ellie (on hardest difficulty its even better, you have to really outsmart your enemy, watch out for your ammo and trully think before you act). It is BRUTAL, you can deform your enemy, make them suffer, cut off their limbs, disarm them and make them beg for their life, before you kill them, it is something new and fresh, that I missed in the first one. On the other hand, the story is much weaker then the first one. Pacing is terrible, you play as Ellie the first half of the game with 4 flashbacks and than you play the other half as Abby with her own flashbacks, the problem is, that these two narratives dont connect at all, all you learn as Abby is that her group is alright and pretty much innocent. Abbys story gets better at the end, when she connects with Lev and finds her long ago lost feelings. I liked the ending, Ellie was possessed with revange and lost everything because of her selfish acts (just like Joel in the first game). At the end she reminds herself of the last conversation with Joel where she said to him, that she cant forgive him, but she can at least try, thats why she lets Abby go. This story is about forgiveness, not about revange. Loved Ellies parts of the game, but I was bored with Abby tbh, well ... It is still a great game and it is a must have for PS4 for its controversy itself ... Im giving it a weak 8/10 (deserved 7, but Naughty dog made some AWESOME games and Im forgiving them these flops) ;)… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
