    I am convinced have the people who vote on this site are either bots or a bunch of soy babies who can't take having their expectations subverted.

    How can anyone who enjoys video games in the slightest play this game and say that it is anything but a masterpiece? This is the most beautiful, brutal, well "acted", story driven game since the original. It is spectacular at every turn.

    I would suggest if you don't like this game to go back to playing Fortnite, Call of Duty, Madden or some other weak minded franchise that your tiny intellect can handle and the people with brains and taste will play games like this.

    It is, however, unfortunate that so many people seem to not only disregard the game entirely but also any logical way of reviewing the game simply because they disliked one particular aspect of it. Any reviews up to about 5/10 should simply be disregarded as the writer having a tantrum and not reviewing the game objectively in any way.

    To me, it is the story of a game that makes it worth playing. However, there must also be emphasis placed on other components of a game. So I will breakdown this review into the following categories and their weight on the overall review score:

    Story (both the actual story arc and then how this arc is executed) - 4
    Graphics - 2
    Sound design - 2
    Gameplay mechanics - 2
    Total - 10

    Story - 4/4
    The story arc of this game is, on the surface, relatively simple. You take control of Ellie (and a few others along the way), a 19 year old girl who finds herself seeming to be the only person immune to a deadly fungal infection. The majority of the game is spent in Seattle where Ellie is seeking revenge for the loss of a loved one. However, there is so much more to this story than simply revenge and the true beauty of this game lies in its journey and it's nuance. This is not a black and white game. There is no morally correct person, no hero character. This game is about dealing with loss and how that feeling can destroy a person and everything around them. You as the player will have to do some truly abhorrant things along your journey throughout this world. But by the end of the game, it is truly one of the most beautiful and remarkable pieces of story telling I have every experienced. However, there is one portion of the games execution which feels rough. During the middle area of the game the player is left with a cliff hanger. A cliff hanger that goes on for so long that I found myself desperately rushing the following 10 or so hours or gameplay just so I could find out what happened. I was terrified of the place I had been left in and it left a sour taste in the mouth for a good portion of the game. After completing the game it's entirely gone. I can appreciate what we were given and why, but it really hurt a large portion of my first play though. Perhaps the way the game was structured could have been altered so we only had a couple of hours or so before getting some resolution, I don't know. It is a minor issue and with hindsight does not justify dropping a full point. I would probably give 3.5/4 for story and 9.5 in total if I could but unfortunately here that is not an option so, 4/4 it is.

    Graphics - 2/2
    The graphics are quite simply extraordinary. This is truly one of the best looking games of our time. The locations and backdrops are truly breathtaking to look at and the character fidelity is stunning, if also, horrifying. Seeing the eyes of an unsuspecting victim roll upward as their choked on your relentless quest for revenge is something hard to forget. Violence is not glorified, but it is given a realistic representation through these details.

    Sound - 2/2
    The sound effects and music are incredibly well done. Hearing the shattering of a broken window and all it's pieces dropping to the ground or the ricocheing of bullets as the bounce around you sounds real. Enemies have a terrifying and recognisable sound to them. Guttural roars, howling whistles and perfect voice acting, all of which further embed the realism of the work you are inhabiting. The music follows the tone of the gameplay and story by providing calm release, serenading you through the astonishing moments of beauty you encounter, whilst adding an unprecedented and unbearable amount of tension during enemy encounters. The whine of a sound akin to a low siren becomes an ever present fear.

    Gameplay Mechanics 2/2
    The Last of Us 2 improves in every way, the gameplay of its predecessor. Character movement is fluid and realistic as you make seamless transitions between dodging and striking enemies, climbing over obstacles and stalking through the array of natural foliage that has taken of the world of Seattle. As you roll onto your back whilst prone so you can craft an item or fire an arrow at an enemy creeping up behind you. Speaking of which, enemies are well created and plentiful, in both quantity and variety. They will communicate to one another, flank you, and try to outsmart you. Dogs will whimper by the limp bodies of their handlers, humans will cry out the names of their friends as they find them fallen. Infected enemies will attack not only yourself but human AI and, in some cases, each other. There is so much more that could be written but alas...word limit.
    It's also worth there is a huge amount of accessibility controls included.

    This is a remarkable game not to missed. 10/10

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. TLOU part II, like the name sugest, is a second part of an story. So you need to analise the game as a sequel for the first game.

    About the game-play: TLOU2 give to us the smooth game-play for the first game, with a lot of improve; the shooter part of the game have the same mechanic of the first game, with more animations and more smooth animations, everything sounds more real, the fight mechanics of the second game is way better than the first game, the aditional evasion mechanic makes the melle fight way better too, most important, the melle animations make sense with the scape mechanics, making a fluid scene in every fight scene.

    About the story: You need to understand that this game occours 4 years after the first game; Joel, Ellie and the rest of thw crew showed to us on the first game are now living in a "peacefull" city, with a "Peacefull" live, when you read the log of scouts, this is more clear. So... There`s some aspects of this situation you need to understand to get the point of the plot.

    When you move on the plto, you have a mission, a revenge mission, and a Breaking Bad mission also. The thing about this game is about you, becaming a monster, and undertand what makes you a monster... And why eveybody in this game is a monster.

    There`s plot hole, this is true. The game isin`t perfect, this is true also. But the things that this game makes good, is SO GOOD, that makes the bad things simple and small.

    IMO this is a 10/10 game.

Expand

    While I agree that the first game is a masterpiece, Part 2 is even more so for me on so many levels... This game indeed has a very controversial story, but it makes perfect sense to me and I understand the decisions that the characters have made. Also, the parallel storytelling is absolutely genius, and it plays with my emotions so much. Then there's environment and gameplay, which are definitely elevated from the first game and then some.

    Now let's get onto the real SPOILER heavy portion of this review...

    ===Story===
    Naughty Dog wanted to make a game with a theme of vengeance, and they did just that. The whole game is surrounded by vengeance, and what people are willing to do to fulfill that. In my opinion, the story and character reactions were complicated but never out of place, even though sometimes they can be very overwhelming. I won’t dive too deep into the plot, but I do want to address two main arguments that fans are having.

    First of all, I would like to say that killing off a beloved character simply does not mean a story is bad. I understand people's feeling are hurt, since someone you love so much from the first game got brutally killed. But let’s be honest, Joel is not a hero. While this doesn’t mean he should die (especially in such way), you cannot say his death is not justified, especially that he killed someone's father, and essentially ruined the chance of a cure for the human race.

    Now let's move on to the main playable characters. Ellie was set on a quest to seek revenge because her father(-figure) was murdered, and she went on every length to accomplish that, which is what most of the players want to do after witnessing Joel's death. But when it comes to Abby, whose father was killed by Joel, also set on a quest to seek revenge, I noticed many people are suddenly not okay with that. Honestly, I think Abby's action is just as justified as Ellie's, the difference is that Joel's death is personal to the players, but Jerry (Abby's father)'s is not.

    ===Storytelling===
    Storytelling might be my favorite part of the game because it gives the players different perspectives. When I played as Ellie and Abby, I get to see their personal life, and experience their thoughts and memories separately. At a certain part of the game, I have to go to the same area twice, but as different characters. When I first played as Ellie, I didn't think much and just by default eliminated everyone in that area; but later, as I play as Abby (timeline wise Abby gets there earlier than Ellie so everyone's still alive), I get to talk to them and interact with them. While this doesn't make me feel entirely "guilty" that Ellie has killed them all (since they are obstacles to her goal), it added a personal touch to that story and gameplay, knowing these are Abby’s friends (and fur-friends) and they are just doing their job.

    The parallel storytelling in this game makes me think a lot more than other games. It turned an otherwise linear revenge story into something much deeper and much more human. I equally love Ellie and Abby at the end of the game because I see them both as human, instead of two game characters who are blessed by the creators, I feel their loss and pain, and I understand why they made all the decisions.

    ===Environment and Gameplay===
    I will not spend too much time on this other than saying the game is gorgeous but brutal, and the combat is super fun yet can be extremely challenging (especially a certain new clicker).

    Frankly, I don't write reviews much, but with the tremendous hate that this game has gotten, I feel a need to express my opinions (hence certain parts of this review are more of my reaction). Of course, Naughty Dog can just make another game of a cross-country tour featuring Ellie and Joel that's filled with love, and people would be happy. But I admire what Naughty Dog has crafted. It's a very dark, intense, complicated, and controversial story; but through the gameplay, I feel a much stronger emotion towards the story and much deeper connection to the characters than I excepted.

    This is a game that I would highly recommend anyone to EXPERIENCE firsthand, rather than just be an observer or just storm through the plot. There will be times that you feel happy and loved through the characters’ eyes, but also moments to drown in shock, hatred, and revenge. Afterall, they are human in a post-apocalyptic world, and they are all just trying to survive.

    Beside that, everything else about the game is top-notch. The graphic quality is insane with crazy attention to details. If you are a game designer, you gonna straight-away realise how many lines of codes were needed just for the ropes mechanics in the game. Hint: It is ENORMOUS.
    The combat, if i can rate exactly, would be 1000/10 when you know how to make use of everything that has been designed wisely and is supposed for you to use against your enemies. The game is not all about sneak-attack and there are more than 20 ways of approaching your enemies. You have 6 weapons for each playable character as well as bombs, arrows, silencers, etc. so stop saying that it is repetitive. It is your playstyle that is repetitive, not the game combat mechanics. Also, the game meelee combat is extremely brutal and you gonna feel for every hit you make. All i can say is that Naughty Dog did a very good job in making the combat feel so realistic.
    Music is another strong aspect of the game. Just watch the credit roll and you will understand it.

    Overall, if you ask me whether its worth your money and time : Yes, definitely. Give it a try and judge the story for yourself rather than just reading spoilers and watching some cut-scenes on youtube. The game feels extremely different when you ARE THE ONE that is actually playing it.

    To say "I loved this game" is probably a poor way to phrase it - because, wow, this game is so bleak and violent. The excellent non-linear storyline does a great job at showing both the humane and inhumane sides of the main characters. The graphics and sound design are both incredible too. Naughty Dog took a lot of risks with this game - but for me, all of those risks paid off.

    I also wished to have a happy ending for these characters that we cared so much in Part One.. Its not what I expected but have never, ever experienced such an emotional roller coaster during a video game. I personally think the story matches this cruel world, and another happy ending as we had in Part One would be unrealistic. The story is written extremely well, so good, that the story transfers feelings, exactly as in Part One. Everything else, Sound Design, Art (Characters, Environment), Actors, Soundtrack, VFX, Gameplay, AI, Programming is very well done and as a creator (game artist) I would say that its unfair to give "0" ratings just because the story was "bad" or just not as someone would have expected it. I think Naughty Dog and every included Outsourcing Company put a lot of love in this project and I hope we'll have more experiences in the future that transfers feelings so good through the medium of a video game.
