I was looking forward to this game for so long, the First game will stay with me forever. This one..... Only part that will stay with me are with Ellie and Joel. Most the characters In it were unlikeable and boring, I couldn’t get on board. The whole story could have been better and different. Eli didn’t have to be the only one who is immune, the first Time we meet the fireflies the leaders shot and their organization is on the run. The other story possibilities I would love to explore and see. Seven years to make..... this crap.

The details are excellent and the production team put a lot of effort into the characters' movements and expressions. But the combat rhythm design is wrong, fight very tired. As a major deduction, I can't give a higher score.

He hasn’t had to kill another human in years, so it’s safe to say he let his guard down. Also, they were running from a horde and they didn’t really have a choice but to hide with those people. This game is amazing. Not as good as the first, but still great. I feel like Abby’s section was a bit messy, Nora’s torture could’ve been cooler, and lev being trans was kinda shoehorned in, but those are pretty much my only complaints. Everyone has their opinion on the gameplay, but I liked it in both 1 and this game. The one on one fights were amazing and the most suspenseful moments I’ve ever had in a game. Everyone should definitely play this. Expand

    ***OVERALL REVIEW 8/10***

    *******SPOILERS AHEAD********

The Last of Us Part 2 continues the story of Joel and Ellie. And I can say that it is a worthwhile sequel that not only continues the story that was started in the first game but expands upon it. The story of this game isn't perfect, it leaves me mostly satisfied with a slight sour taste in my mouth. The choice to brutally murder Joel works, but left me a little disappointed to see Naughty Dog remove such a crucial character especially after seeing the leaks. I would've liked to have seen a little less of a predictable revenge quest. But once you understand the reason for his death it all ties together with the first game near perfectly. I would've liked to have seen a little more mourning from the characters in this game rather than jumping right into the action. This choice can feel quite abrupt and can feel like they were rushing into the rest of the story. Although I was a little unmoved at this choice I found myself near tears at how emotional some scenes are. The death of Joel felt impactful and disturbing in a way that sticks with you and it is shown through Ellie in her relentless journey for revenge. This makes you look at yourself, and makes you think about how far you would go for the ones you love and how much you are willing to lose. Towards the start of the game you are quickly introduced to Abby who feels dangerous and mysterious as you question her intentions. Quickly some of those questions are answered as she brutally murders Joel in front of Ellie. But after this event you immediately are brought a slew of new questions about Abby that keep you attached to your controller trying to grasp at what the answers may be. This tension effectively runs through the first half of the game when you play as Ellie accompanied by Dina and later on Jesse. But this tension feels slightly ruined when you hit a climax and are forced to play as Abby which you were hunting down for most of the first half of the game. This choice made me a little annoyed hoping the next act would move back to Ellie but this doesn't happen till about the last hour of the game. I wish Naughty Dog would've used this time to have you play as Ellie and show you Abby's crucial moments. This feels especially painful when you are forced to play as Abby beating the sh*t out of Ellie and a pregnant Dina. Although this choice is a little frustrating it is effective in telling you Abby's side of the story and showing you that there really is no bad guy in this story, and that this isn't just a revenge quest for Ellie. By the end of this game when the credits rolled I found myself wondering and hoping for some sort of sequel or continuation of this story that gave me a little more closure even though this game ends on a good note leaving you with most questions answered and a large over arching lesson that is explored through this entire game. Many may find this game intensely violent to a point that you may need to look away. But every moment of violence feels justifiable and appropriate when looking at how harsh this world is and what most of these characters have been through, and what they must do in order to survive. This isn't a game for the faint of heart. Moving to the characters, I found most of them understandable and relatable especially those connected to Ellie and Abby. Naughty Dog does an impressive job exploring every character. For example, learning about Dina's relationship with religion, when interacting with completely optional story moments. These moments and things like notes spread throughout the world, and optional conversations help build a more believable and relatable world. Moving to combat, it is greatly improved in comparison to the first game that it builds upon. Ellie (and Abby) can go prone crawling through grass and hiding from enemies and stealthily taking them out. Melee combat is also greatly improved with a dodge button making combat feel more expansive yet intense. You also have a large arsenal of gear that gets larger as you progress through the story. Ellie and Abby can also move more efficiently through combat and the world moving more easily with a jump button and being able to squeeze through small spaces. Lastly I would like to bring up how impressive the visuals are in this game. Looking at each environment is a different experience, there is meticulous detail in every area. No space looks the same as another. Looking at every environment feels like you are one step away from being there in person.

In conclusion, The Last of Us Part 2 is a gripping experience that continues the story of Ellie and expands upon the world of The Last of Us in new ways and tells a memorable story that is definitely worth checking out for new and old fans.

As someone who considers the original Last of Us game the best game I've ever played, for multiple reasons; Story, game-play, and Immersion; This review is hard to write.

The game-play in The Last of Us Part II was incredible. The improvements to the user interface, the amount of craft-able materials, the behavior of the AI characters, and the level of detail in terms of level design are outstanding. I found myself very immersed in the world, worried about the enemies spotting me. The simple addition of being able to go prone and adding higher levels of vegetation to double as "cover" for the player is genius. I felt like the things i had issues with in the first game such as loosing too many arrows to them breaking, were alleviated. I find that I get more of a feel of "I don't have enough resources to build what i want to build or to get across this field of enemies". Whereas in the first game, if you took the time to search around and loot the nearby buildings, you'd find yourself full on nearly all materials. I consistently felt more immersed in the world as I would audibly cheer when i found that pair of scissors I needed to craft another set or arrows or that final container piece to craft another silencer.

In terms of story, I just don't think it holds up to the original game. HOWEVER: I do not think this game tarnishes the great reputation the first one created. As Neil Druckman said in one of his interviews pre-release of this game: The last of Us was a game about love, Part II is all about hate. I understand what other players mean when they complain about not having the "option" to make important choices in the game, but I firmly believe that in a world such as the The Last of Us, those decisions are necessary in order to survive, I do think the story would be more compelling if it was told in a different order, as you jump around in the timeline of the main characters' lives fairly often, but I can overlook that.

Overall, what I can say about this game is this: I waited nearly 7 years to play the sequel to my all-time favorite game, and I can confidently say I had a great time. While the story isn't quite up to par compared to the previous title. I truly believed that Naughty Dog captured lightning in a bottle, and to expect them to create that same feeling twice is asking a little much. The Last of Us Part II is meant to show you that even in a world post-apocalypse, there is no black or white when it comes to morality. Every person makes good decisions and terrible decisions, but it's up to you to understand that hate only creates more hate, and revenge will only get you so far.

This game will make you think about your actions, and shows you the consequences for making them.

-Very HEAVY with political agenda related to LGBTQ and FEMINISM. Too much SJW stuffs that are being forcefully slammed onto players' faces.
-Really MESSY in terms of pacing and story direction; it jumbles in and out with flashbacks, the flashbacks are ALL OVER the place.
-Unrewarding ending, no joy and satisfaction felt after done 30+hours playing it.

    THE CONCLUSION:
-The game could be (kinda?) saved actually if Neil Druckmann made the game into THREE DIFFERENT STORY MODES rather than combining Ellie's and Abby's stories altogether in one single playthrough. So the first playthrough would be "Ellie's Story", the second playthrough would be "Abby's Story", and the final playthrough would be "Redemption", or "Conclusion".
-The game is only worth for RENTING, not buying. If you haven't play the 1st TLOU and just want to straight dive in to TLOU 2, then just RENT IT, don't buy it.
-If you collect video games, and you want to add TLOU Part 2 to your collection, be my guest, but it's cheaper to buy the SECOND HAND one. It's not worth the full price.

I understand that people may not like it for some obvious reasons but i do not think this game deserves less than 6 points. The storytelling is amazing, we all get mad when a main character dies, but not just for that is a bad game (or movie, book, whatever). Is not the perfect game, the first one is a mile away better but this part 2 is a closure of a beautiful story which is not about revenge, is about forgiveness and care. We think Ellie lost everything, but that´s not true, when she spares Abby’s life she saw Joel, watching her, she remembered all they spent together and that´s not what Joel wanted for her... The night before Joel dies, she told him she wanted to forgive him, so forgiving Abby was kinda her redemption for all she had done (kill Abby’s friends) and that pardon for Joel. Again, is not the perfect game, but it deserves a 10/10 because is the end (maybe?) of one of the top 3 games in the century. Expand
