Virtually every time you encounter infected it is in a closed dark space, where you see the world through the circle of light that is your torch. It’s forces a particular style of play on you (if you can see what you’re doing.) It’s also predictable: every time you find ammunition you can be sure you’ll soon be coming up against infected, normally in a cellar. They also seem to miraculously appear out of nowhere. Your movements are slow. Switching weapons is an unnecessary ordeal and getting stuck in (yet another) dark basement detracts from the story. The problem is there are too many sequences like this. They’re just unimaginative. You feel cheated and it interrupts the narrative. The story is an heroic and sincere attempt at driving the narrative forward from the first game. However there are a few too many flashbacks. The use of ‘notes’ lying around telling you the zombie apocalypse is a bad thing gets tedious. Some of the flashbacks are genuinely well crafted. The game treads a fine line between sentimentality and an exploration of relationships between the different characters and factions. Yes I know it’s a game. So was the first one and that was brilliant. That is to say unpretentious. I’m glad I’m playing it and I would recommend it. You can make up your own mind.

I was so looking forward to this.

I've played the first TLOU at least 10 times and in my opinion it's one of the best games ever made. I have no idea what this second game is, I cannot even recognize it. I can only describe it as horrible, terrible, awful, disgusting and disrespectful.

I too have waited a very long time to play this game, I purchased it on release (my birthday), and while I found it a little slow to start with, I now find myself at the mid point in the game completely invested in the story and it's characters. The gameplay is amazing, and without any doubt this is the best looking game on the ps4. Very few games have compelled me to play through them again, however I played through the first game in this series several times, and once I have finished this game I can see myself doing exactly the same. It's a great game, experience, emotional rollercoaster filled with tender moment, heart stopping scares, great action and amazing presentation. It's not going to be for everyone, it can be tough at times, frustrating even, being hunted by a bunch of infected with no supplies is a scenario I have found myself dying in time and time again, but it is rewarding too. In my opinion, and I may be wrong, this is the game PS4 will be remembered for, and I would encourage anybody to at the very least try it. Maybe my opinion will change when the end game credits start to roll, but unless naughty dog have done something seriously wrong with the second half of this game, it's s perfect 10 for me. Expand

I wanted this game to be swan song of the ps4. Sadly it fell short of its goals. Given how it look I can give an a plus for that, but thats not why I played The Last of Us. Its the story and character is what I care about. Gameplay can be dragged on to long and the ending was totally unsatisfying.

If you can accept Joel's death and open yourself to the direction this game goes with its story, then you will find a genuinely incredible story. If you cannot forgive Abby for killing Joel and want nothing but to see this great new character suffer. Without caring about her very valid reasons for doing everything that she does, and want nothing but a simple revenge story in which person A kills someone close to person B. Person B then hunts person A and kills her and gets revenge, The End. Then i'm afraid you will not find that here. I am someone who was perfectly open to whatever the game threw at me, and i was surprised to find a hugely compelling story, with great characters both old and new, great atmosphere, incredible world design. etc. Overall i do not think this game is a masterpiece. then again i do NOT think that the first game is a masterpiece either. i personally believe after playing both games back to back. that the second game felt like such a natural continuation, and so for that reason i think that this game The Last of Us part 2 is easily as good as the first game, which i would also give a 9. Both games played back to back make for one fantastic continuous story. Expand

In it´s core The Last of Us Part II is an exploration of hate, revenge and consequences of one's actions. There are a lot of heartwarming and sweet moments throughout The Last of Us Part II which balance the heavy subject matter perfectly. I liked that player gets to see games conflict from different points of view. Like in the real world, conflicts and opposing points of view are not black and white, there´s no clear bad guy or good guy. I don´t want to spoil the story, but lets just say that in the game, after being blinded by hate that sudden relization of the cost of ones choices hits hard.
Graphics are amazing and enviroments are astoundingly rich with detail. Story is great, it´s an emotional rollercoaster, it stays with you when you finish the game. Gameplay is exciting and in most cases keep you the edge of your seat.

No game is perfect 10, so this is 9.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Everyone knows that this game's gameplay, graphics and atmosphere is excellent, even haters couldn't deny that. The story is what has been discussed so much since the release date of TLOU2. Many people harshly criticized its story and tagged it as 'poor and lazy story'. Seeing all these criticize just makes me shocked. A lazy story would be Ellie and Joel travelling the country again, maybe they would have disharmony and they would get seperated from each other then they would forgive themselves and game would be finished. I am sure that if the story were this, everyone would give it 10/10 and call it 'masterpiece and amazing story'. But, ND didn't want to write a cliche story and they killed Joel. Although Joel was one of my favourite character, he should have died and paid what catastrophe he has caused. When he saved Ellie, all of us said that we would have done the same thing in order not to lose our daughter twice but Joel destroyed the only hope and chance of this world by killing the doctor who was able to make the cure. Actually, all the wars between Seraphites and W.L.F or the other deaths are because of Joel and he paid the price with his death. Many people were unable to connect with Abby since they were not emphatizing with her. Abby lost her father, her idol, and she still keeps having nightmares because of that. Also, she can't have a initial relationship with the other people because of her seek of revenge. I claim that all of us would have killed Joel without any hesitation if we had been Abby. And, it is what the story tries to tell us; everyone has their reason to commit some bad things, what we do without empathizing and what we do because of our seek of revenge or comfront is just going to damage yourself. Confront will cause confront and all of us should learn how to forgive someone. Abby killed Joel, then Ellie killed Abby's friends because of her confront, then Abby shot Tommy because of her twinge of revenge and it kept going like that and neither of them got what they were up to. Ellie kept having nightmares because of Joel's death and wanted to take revenge on Abby but when they faced with each other, when she was about to kill Abby, she took the memory of Joel in which he was happy and peaceful, so she understood that forgiving is what would soothe her and it was what she must have done. If she hadn't done that, Lev would have lost her Abby and that would be what Abby had done to Ellie by killing Joel. Ellie had already lost her girlfriend, Tommy, Jesse and her ability to play guitar, the only reminiscent of Joel, so she broke the chain and didn't keep punishing innocent people. Because everyone has their own reasons and own initial relationships to do sth and punishing them will only cause more confront and more damage. This is what Neil Druckmann told us in this story and I would prefer this story all over again to a story that was created only to make fans happy. So, before judging and criticizing this masterpiece story, please think about if you understood what this story tried to tell you and then make a comment about it. This game is a real masterpiece. However, even if i can understand why some people don't like it, it's exactly what the game is looking for with the topic of his story. It does'nt mean everybody has to be ok with that, but for me this is an evidence fo why the story is well writen and make you feel a certain way.
It does'nt change that the overall quality of the game is very good, not perfect, but this is a game where you feel all the effort and time put into details, a good level design, a classic but efficient gameplay, and gorgeous graphics.

However, some part of the game seemed for me too long without being very interesting. The is more a problem of rythm. The game is very long, but to be fair the biggest part is ok.

And yes you can find some "feminism or lgbt stuff" in background, but honestly it does'nt feel like propaganda you should not even pay attention to it because this is not what the story is about anyway, and it just melt in this world naturally, so there is nothing shocking with that choice.

I have played Lost of Us 1 a long time ago, i never became a fan of the game despite i liked it, so maybe my reaction will be more moderate than someone that is passionate about the characters.

Anyway, LOTU part II is still for me a very good game, with very good storytelling, and taking some risk. Of course some people will not like some choice, they will hate some characters, and it's part of what the writters are looking for. And everything, if it's not perfect, is well crafted to serve a purpose..

The first part is my favorite game ever along with Uncharted 4. I was waiting for the part 2 so much. I had pre-ordered the game and I had seen nothing from the leaks. I wanted to play the game myself and see how it is.I had so much hype and when the game finally arrived in my hands I started played with so much hype. Then as the hours was passing and I was reaching the end of the game, I really felt disappointed.

Well no about graphics, mechanisms, details, animations. These are the best out there in my opinion and I didn't expect something less from ND. On this sector they did the best work for real.

My disappointment was because I didn't expect such an off topic story. I expected to see some new missions with Joel and Ellie but most like likely something that it would explain or show what happened / happening about the virus, its evolution or its cure solution. Well nothing from all these happened.

I actually played a game that had to do with so many inaccurate characters according to the part 1 that we never showed them there and everything had to do around them. The most hours of the game it was a gameplay with Abby and not Ellie. Even if the game logo on the dvd package showing the Ellie as the protagonist.

I found Abby's part so boring because I had just to go to a specific location then come back to a previous then again go back to the original and doing such things that didn't make me feel excited at all. It was like I was playing a walking dead tv series in a game. Even the end of the game reminded me so much of the Nigan season.

ND also did something wrong. They nurfed Joel and Tommy that much that I thought it was a joke or a troll to us the fans of the franchise. Joel and Tommy would never mention who they are, from where they are or asking strangers come with them to their camp. That was much accurate to me.

Also we watched 2 official trailers with Joel saving Ellie by covering her mouth plus Ellie playing guitar and saying to Joel he will kill any last of them. Well these scenes never happened in the game. It was probably a marketing to push the sales. Showing Joel alive and kill him just in the first 2 hours like garbage or a movie walkon wasn't that cool.

Also Ellie mentioning to Abby you will **** die, you are dead etc. and in the end nothing of this happens. Just like Rick with Nigan in the final episode that letting him be alive. So the problem here is that this game wasn't prototype at all. Just a copy of a move or tv series. While the first part was from zero to the end a real masterpiece with a great scenario.

Another thing that was not that cool is the animal violation. In first they said you will not be forced to kill a dog but at last there were times you had to. Also killing dogs was only represented while playing as Ellie and from the other side with Abby you were only playing with a dog. That was a trick to make people love more Abby instead of Ellie?

Well after that I felt they just humiliate our intelligence. Anyway. That's it for me and that was my personal opinion of course. Also it's sad to see a director calling his fans with negative characterizations or words like "who **** / cares for the haters"?

And I am not talking about those fake fans that used rude and abusing language against ND or the actors. That's not right. I am talking about the real fans that paid played the game and they had their own opinion that it was different of what nd's director probably expected. Not cool when you talk like that about your customers / fans.

    Peace.
