The game has a great graphics, no loading between the chapters, an unforgettable music, best mo cap and voice acting performance, and an amazingly fun gameplay all which is wasted for the poor story telling, some reading this review may say all this can't be ruined by story but all I say is wait until you play it yourself you'll understand how bad it is that you don't wanna continue the game from a point.
I just don't understand what was all that we got in the first game? what was that for? all that character development all that bounding to those characters was for what? to just say hey we made you love them now we destroy them, it was so sadistic move, it was't just a bad ending, it was abusing and insulting for me, a big fan of the game and almost every other fans I know.
I'm deeply sad for what has happened to this great game so many different ways to continue the story to please the fans and create something unique but, too bad they chose the way to insult the fans and destroy the game in a unique way.
Naughty Dog has now a way to go to regain it's fame.

Absolute garbage. Gameplay, graphics, and audio are amazing but how can you have such a horrible story in a story driven game? I’m going to sell my game for cheaper so people don’t have to waste $60. Complete waste of money but more importantly a complete waste of time you’ll never get back.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Breathtaking graphics. Fantastic animations and physics but the story and new characters are trash. The story is just rinse and repeat all the way through. Even using, not one , but two pregnancies to try and pull on your heartstrings. The only decent scenes are the flashbacks with Joel. It recreates some of the magic of the first game but then soon rips it away and leaves you missing Joel again. Then they have the audacity to make you play as the murderer who killed him. Just plain awful compared to the first game. Expand

Great game. Not many games have such a strong emotional gameplay. Every character seems like unique person, not just a nameless thug. And the visuals are absolutely stunning, from character models to cloth and rope physics to lights. Simply put, it is a masterpiece.

First off I loved the first game so most of the complaints I get as far as the story goes. So if you’re looking to recapture the feelings of the first game you will be disappointed. I completely understand the anger for this game. But giving this game a 0 is doing your fellow gamers an injustice. So is saying it’s a 10 to counter all the zeros. I played this game to the end and took a day or so to digest this so I can give this game an honest review. Ok so the story does little to no justice to the characters of the first game. The very beginning is a nice tie in to the first game I thought it gave a nice follow up to the end of the other game ( before the major event that has everyone upset). The flashback scenes scattered throughout the game at points I felt also worked well with the first game’s story. The rest however was hard to wrap my head around. I chose to look at the bulk of the game as a dream sequence or an alternate universe lol. (It worked for me that way) Playing that way or not having an attachment to the first game and it’s characters It’s actually a good game. The story on its own I thought was well done overall and wouldn’t get the hate I feel if this wasn’t part 2 of a beloved game. Won’t spoil anything but the second half is a complete shift. So if you look at it as they are intending it’s quite interesting and makes you think. Which is something I can honestly appreciate. Graphics are amazing everyone seems to agree there. You can see the amount of work that was put into this game for sure. Found myself admiring the littlest things. Gameplay is good very familiar if you played the first game (with improvements). Definitely a violent game but I don’t feel it’s brutal just to be brutal. It works with the concept of the story they are trying to tell. Gotta say overall I did enjoy this game just for different reasons and not to the extent of the first game. I can recommend playing it IF you can look at it the way I did or don’t have a major attachment to the characters. It’s just really hard for a lot of fans of the original to get past that one scene early on and understandably so. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just beat the game today. I feel so sad. I feel so depressed. I feel miserable. I feel like there’s a whole in my chest. Rely on the reviews played by actual people who’s played the game. I’ve been thinking about this game for the past couple days playing it. I’m still processing the game. There’s a difference between a bad game and a game you don’t like. It’s not a bad game. It’s a game I don’t like (not like terrible) but because it’s so miserable. It was meant to be like that. It was meant to made you feel. I feel like I was on a roller coaster of feels while playing this game. No game has ever made me feel like that. It’s not perfect. It’s a game you aren’t meant to like. I’m still processing the ending. I feel very incomplete. I’ve seen a lot of people say the ending isn’t what they wanted and I totally understand that. There’s a loop of getting revenge, losing things, going back out and getting revenge and losing more. There was a cycle and Ellie finally broke the cycle. But at what cost? I want to be happy for her because she grew as a character but I can’t because she lost everything. Lost everything to get to where she was.
Abby’s part of things: I never liked her. Ellie’s part of things at the beginning was perfect. A perfect 10/10 but when we played as Abby I lost interest. I didn’t like her. The tie in was kinda cool. The fact that you shot someone random in the first game turned out to have such a HUGE part in the next was cool. At the same time I didn’t care about her. They introduced her so early in the game killing our favorite character. I don’t know why they thought we’d like her or even care about her. I couldn’t sympathize with her. I understood her but I didn’t care. It was too long with her. You built such a strong connect with Joel and Ellie in the first and with Ellie in the second. You kill Joel at the start and play as Ellie for only a half of the game, I didn’t like that. I feel like a separate game with Abby would’ve been cool but don’t throw her into this game.
With Joel it was tough. I understand a lot of people were mad with him dying so early, me included, the way he died. We didn’t get time to explore his and Ellie’s relationship and figure things out. It didn’t give Ellie time to mourn, to really understand what had happened. I would’ve liked to have seen that explored a lot more. His death could’ve been so much more. He was the hero of the last game and we lost him immediately.
This was a sad, gloomy, miserable game. It scared me and depressed me. It was hard to play it for an extended period of time because it was so depressing. It was a great game. It was supposed to be a game you didn’t like. I would knock off a couple points for the Abby crap and killing Joel so early I’d give it a 7 or 7.5. But it’s the last of us so 8/10. Don’t listen to reviews. Play it on your own. Play it on your own time.

Game is **** awesome I hated the antagonist in the beginning but you realize these are all just people and Joel did a selfish thing, justified in my opinion but still selfish; and he deserved to pay for it. And then it illustrates the things a revenge plot can do to you and the people you love. If you really feel nothing from this game but anger and a need to forget it, then by all means stick to your dipass call of duty/apex legends/fornite battle royale **** boy games and your fast & furious franchises. Obviously a narrative of this caliber is too much for you to grasp, especially if you cant put aside your dumbass feelings over a **** video game character to dig deeper into the message and theme of the game. (Revenge is a stairway to nowhere).

Also people claiming SJW nonsense in this game is full of **** theres absolutely no political agenda about this game, they're just misogynistic neckbeards who don't like having to play as a woman over their man crush Joel. **** outta here. 10/10

We had to go through death and loss and at the end nothing was left for us. That is the point. Revenge does nothing in the end but leave you with emptiness and regret. Even I who originally wanted Abby dead after seeing the whole story did not want it anymore by the end. I see so many people complaining and moaning and whining about SJW and Trans **** I cannot believe there are so many bigoted people. You all can go shove it, this game and community does not need you and your hate. While I do have grievances they are very small. This game was an amazing and tragic journey. People are angry just because stuff that you don't want to happen, happen. The writers are clearly telling a story, and a more realistic one in such a world, rather than having everything be rainbows and sunshine. This is not a game for someone looking for everything to be right all of the time.

The story is beautiful, and brutal. It got me thinking more than once about what I was doing, and what I did up to that moment.

Game mechanics - 10/10. Improved them from the previous game. Fighting is very fun, the amount of settings is unbelievable, including a multi layered difficulty system (select hard enemies, easy resources, for example).

If you liked the first one for the authenticity and the story, then play this one as well.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly this game was incredible from the onset. The graphics and audio are incredible and set the tone for the adventure that is to come. The gameplay is an improvement from the first game which is a lot to say and some of the new mechanics (eg rope) are well es executed. I understand why the story might be divisive particularly with the shocking beginning that might upset fans of the first one but *spoiler alert* Joel’s adventure was complete and this was a story of what comes after. This game also teaches something important which is that in many situations there isn’t such thing as a good and bad character, it’s the circumstances that drive each to make decisions. I thought I would hate using Abby but by the end of the game I found myself struggling To decide for whom I was cheering. Well done naughty dog, this was a bold move but you pulled it off. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After playing through the entire game, and watching a full play through, I have come to write my honest review of this game. The Last of us was a legendary game. It still is today. The Last of us Part II, in my opinion, doesn’t really live up to the first game. The gameplay, most of the story, graphics, cutscenes, fighting animations, and overall the pace of the game was good. I enjoyed the music too. Excellent soundtrack. The parts of the game that are what really got me to give this rating are only a couple, but also very key things. First of all, the ending was horrible. It wasn’t bad, it was just so sad. I feel like the game just dragged on and didn’t do any justice in the end. It was a terribly sad ending. Ellie suffered so much throughout the game. In the end, she couldn’t even play the guitar. She never killed Abby. Which literally was the point of the game, or so the story made it seem that way, and it never happened. Secondly, playing as Abby. I hated that. After watching Joel die a horrible death at her hand, I was upset. Like literally upset. As if I had an argument with someone I hated, and I lost. Playing as her after that scene was just a punch in the gut. Also, the first fight between her and Ellie, where we beat Ellie up, was just not fun at all. Knowing what Abby did just made it so much harder emotionally. Another thing about Abby as well, going back and forth between her and Ellie messed the time lines up for me. At the end of the game there wasn’t an indication it had been a while and that Ellie got to Abby after Abby had been worked to the bone for a while. It was just like bam here she is a while later. The ending was so bad. Even writing this review I’m thinking of how sad and awful it was. Come on Naughtydog. I don’t even wanna see a part 3 now if it’s coming. One thing I did wanna touch on is the lesbian relationship that Ellie and Dina share. I think that’s really interesting and I liked it. It was a nice twist to the game and I am perfectly fine with lesbian characters. Who really cares. I mean they raised a cute baby. It was cool to see the family aspect. In a way, the game shows us that even after something as bad as a zombie apocalypse, there’s still love of all kinds. It was a good touch in my opinion. Not needed, but good. But overall, I rate this game a 4 out of 10. While there are more positives than negatives listed in this review, in my mind, those 2 negatives outweigh the positives. They really brought the game down for me. I almost put the game down when I played as Abby. That was the main problem for me. Like what Last of us fan wants to play as the murderer of Joel. What person wants to play a character who murders there favorite character in any other video game. Not many people. You could argue it was important to see Abby’s side of things, and yes that’s a valid argument. But I still don’t care enough to want to play as her. Anyway, the game wasn’t the worst. I’m glad it came out. It was an emotional rollercoaster for sure. Expand
