Making the unpredictable a norm, overflowing with creativity through moments imbued with delicacy, this suite surprises and makes us think about the consequences of our actions while mistreating us emotionally. Having refined its gameplay, now much more immersive, this part II stands out as a fabulous action / infiltration title but also and above all as a story, sometimes getting lost in some narrative stretches and other superfluous scenes but never deviating from its guideline dedicated to offering its characters a conclusion, whether happy or not. Like all creations bearing the mark of their authors, The Last of Us Part II will provoke debates, reactions, which, like its protagonists, remains terribly human. Whether we like it or not, there remains a major work here that will haunt us several days after we finish it and which we now say as the new example to follow in its field or more simply as a breathtaking, heartbreaking and magnificent story to that time. Please if you are not a homophobe nor a 12 years old spoiled kid that only knows to throw a tantrum about everything sit through this 26-27 hours masterpiece of a game and then come and give it a zero. I honestly don't understand all the people nagging about the game, some didn't even played the game for more than 3 hours.

I'm not gonna go through too much detail to avoid spoiling anything. the game carries most of functionalities from TLOU1 and has many new ones. graphic wise it's as beautiful as it gets. the main problem that I had with the game was the character movement, which I got used to and I think I could easily ignore that in my rating. I love the fact that the story was an emotional roller coaster. I strongly believe that it's not everyone's cup of tea but if you are angry because of the story line and gave it a low score just think about the fact that game did what it supposed to do artistically.

The Last of Us II is the greatest game of the generation, perhaps all time. It takes everything we love from the first game and made it better. Combat, visuals, movement, Naughty Dog has advanced everything.

I have never written a review before, but oh man, I wished more games were like this. The last of us 2 is a master piece story wise. I have no complaints about it. Play it yourself, judge yourself,

This is not a game for our snowflake generation, who likes to live in a fantasy of everything being happy and nice; expecting our heroes to do the right thing all the time.
Last of us 2 is a piece of art, and the goal of creating art is not to impress, but to express. Kuddos to Naughty dog for making the tough choices and showing us how flawed human beings really are.

I didn't find the narrative deficient, nor the characters to be "bleak" or "empty". I thought it was a beautifully weaved story with brilliant pacing and deep and rich characters. Characters fueled by hatred, revenge and suffering on every side, brutally contrasted by love and memories of what hope of a better world could have ever meant in a sunken world (in that sense, I think playing the first game is imperative to really comprehend Ellie and Joel’s relationship). I felt for every one of these characters, one way or another. And yes it's about vengeance, but it's so so so much more than that! What Naughty Dog did here is undeniably audacious and risky, but believe me, it is absolutely worth it, precisely because of what makes this medium what it is: immersion. I cried, I laughed, I felt regrets, fear, loss, I mourned, a lot, I felt love and hope, I felt hate and despair. If you read this, don't let the hate get to you. Give this game a try, headphones on, shut the lights and just dive in. Try to forget about the fact that there were leaks in the first place. You gotta play this game for yourself, and if you don't like it, fine, it's okay, why wouldn't it be? I can see why a lot of people don't like it, but don't hate it for the wrong reasons. At the end, I'm just terribly sad that this game got ruined by leaks out of their context. If it weren't for those leaks, a lot of people would have seen it for what it truly is. I tell ya, don’t miss this. You wanted the sequel? Well there it is, that’s it right there and you know what? It was worth the wait. Expand

As a fan of the first The Last of Us and Uncharted series, I've been devasted to see what direction naughty dog has taken to drive the narrative of this game, I was afraid it wouldn't work.
It's the most ambitious and the least fun game that the studio ever has created.
Ambition... That word is accurate when you look at the scope, volume, and polish of this game, but unfortunately, that is not what I mean.

The narrative that this game is trying to sell is devilishly difficult to pull off. As you see by review bombing it's not one that everyone will get.
For me, it worked, and I'm astonished it did!

I think that everyone who called this game a hot piece of garbage regards the story stayed closed for what that game has to offer.
It forces you to grow as a person and a player, you will resist and you won't like it.
But if you stay open it will change you.

I never felt so many strong emotions playing a video game, part I did it as well, but there was light.
Part II is not afraid to leave you in darkness, by doing so it is a much richer experience.

    So should you play it?
No - If you liked part I, you think it was a perfect end to this story and want to leave this universe with a sense of accomplishment and closure.

Yes - if you are not afraid to be dragged through hell ride of fear, pain, excitement, and sadness.
AND CAN STAY OPEN FOR THOSE EMOTIONS

    It is worth it.

TLOU Part 2 is a masterpiece when it comes to level design, animation, acting between characters, skill three and stealth gameplay otherwise a disappointing game. The major problem with the game is unfortunately the story and the writing. There was a big part in the game where I just wanted to speedrun it just to complete it and to be done with it. The mainly reason I give this game a 4 is because of the story.

Yes indeed these games contain a coming of age story arc that unfolds when you play the original game and part 2 directly afterwards.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
