    A poor sequel. They should not have waited so long after the success of the first, because they lost all impetus for the second. Don't wait 7 years to make a sequel - it might not work.

    The technical standard of the graphics and world are impressive but as a story...

    Waste of money and time - and the gameplay is identical from part one.

When it comes to The Last of Us Part II, it's some of the worst story telling from all games prior.

    The only positive I could think of while playing The Last of Us II was how amazing the graphics are, but it's the epitome of proof graphics are not everything to make a good game.

    Reviewers are right to compare this with Game of Thrones season 8, because that is where it falls in line in terms of story and character development. Not only do the characters from the original TLOU do things that are totally out of character all to move the plot along, but what happens to them is disrespectful and infuriating. It is not joke to say the story is not only a slap in the face to the fans, but a hard hitting nuke to head with Druckmann pissing agenda on the ashes (Yes, it's that bad!).

    Aside from story, the gameplay is average at best, and mediocre at worst. While the original The Last of Us was ground breaking in terms of gameplay and story, it's a game that is now six years old! Part II does nothing groundbreaking from it's predecessor, and feels very last generation with very little to offer. It is a tedious exploration going from one area to the next, fighting hordes of enemies over and over only to have another cinematic with characters I care nothing about. After a while I just want to stop playing The Last of Us II altogether, and move onto something more enjoyable like God of War.

    I truly believe with Niel Druckmann at the helm it will be the end of Naughty Dog after playing The Last of Us II. I feel terrible for the employees that work under him, their blood, sweat, and tears for an oppressive manager like Niel will only bring morale down within the company. Hopefully ND will realize the mistake they made with Niel and beg for Amy Hennig to come back to take the reigns again. It is wishful thinking, but it's going to be sad from here on out knowing how my once favorite developer has fallen from grace solely for an agenda they want to force down upon others, and gamers are the ones who lose because of it.    … Expand

Creative director Neil Druckmann has trolled loyal fans by delivering the complete opposite of what they wanted. Joel and Ellie might as well not be in this game. If you really cared about those characters (like I did) then give this a hard pass. It desperately attempts to be clever by forcing you to commit acts of atrocity and then preaches to you about how awful this is... it’s moronic, patronising and simply fails on every level. The female writer that delivered the brilliant original had no hand in this utter garbage and it shows. I will never buy anything remotely connected to Neil Druckmann ever again. I sincerely hope that his career is over. Don’t waste your time or money, Ghost of Tsushima is coming out soon and then CyberPunk is following later on this year. My advice is to save your money for what are much more likely to be quality entertaining titles. Or if you really need an apocalypse fix and haven’t yet played Days Gone, it’s definitely worth a look, it’s the entertaining sequel that this game should of been.… Expand

    This franchise had such potential but they had to pull a "start wars" and bring it to the ground.
    Realistically I would give the game a full 3 because the graphics are very good but then you see the characters and most of them just look weird. Literally, everybody is ugly as **** Plus what's up with roid-T-girl taking it up the wound/ass mid-game?

    From a technical perspective, the game is fine, but the story is really bad and insulting to all that are invested in the characters from the first game. One gets a sense that the writer is trying to be clever, mistaking shock value for genuine emotional responses. A failure from start to finish

With that being said, just about 12 hours of the game are wasted on fruitless plots, and the entire story (potentially of both games) is rendered meaningless by the weak plot and dumbfounded ending.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So I just gave up the game close to the end I think because it wasn't the experience I wanted from Naughty Dog this time around. I didn't want to play as Joel's killer, nor did playing as her for half game inspire any sort of player's guilt or empathy for her side of it. I loved Joel and Ellie and they loved each other which is why I rooted for them so much and in truth is what this whole story is about. Every story has two sides of course but up against Abby and fireflies it's an easy win for Joel and Ellie. There's clearly not much love in Abbys life, and her Dad had it coming for putting his hands on Ellie in the first place. Maybe that's all subjective but anyone can see all the issues TLOU deals with has everything to do with how people deal with each other. Had they sacrificed Ellie, there just would have been more conflict over the vaccine. The conflicts between the Seraphites and WLF are proof of this. Plus zero guarantee sacrificing Ellie would lead to anything.

    Anyway, I only paid 9.99 for it so I don't feel too let down. But I will just say that this was an absolute farcry from Part One. And I think people who loved it should avoid it. Maybe this type of narrative will work better for the tv show. And I'm open to Part 3 if it's a thing being an improvement on this.    … Expand

Так же первая часть не была пропагандой лгбт, фемок и того что женщины на мать его 6 месяце беременности идут мочить зомби в патруль! Все мужские персонажи в игре представлены мудаками, а женские наоборот. При этом все мужские персонажи красивые, женские наоборот страшные. Я покупаю и играю а игры чтобы уйти из реального мира. Не хочу платить за игры с такой пропагандой. Однако будучи объективным игра выглядит великолепно, атмосфера пост апокалипсиса передана хорошо не считая моментов связанных с пропагандой "сильных и независимых". Местами игра пугает отлично можно даже подумать что играешь в хоррор. Я был не против феминисток и лгбт до того момента пока они не стали лезть своими грязными руками в то что мне дорого и менять это под себя. Если я захочу увидеть "реалистичных не сэксуализированных" женщин я выйду на улицу. В играх я хочу видеть красивых, милых женских персонажей.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I highly anticipated this game. I think to this day that TLOU 1 is simply one of the top 3 games ever made. The gameplay was simple but felt not at any point boring. The graphics were astonishing and the story was perfect from the beginning till the end. One of the few games I really shed some tears. The Last of Us 2 tries so hard to fit into its part one shoes that it lost the tone which made it so great. Some things are great like the graphics and motion capture are almost perfect. The linear lvl design is almost all the time great and the melee combat feels real. But there are things which are truly not good from a players standpoint. The standard AI feels sometimes more dumb than the first one, yes I know you can rank the difficulty up, but that only helps to a certain degree. I wished for more enemy diversity to be more precise the infected. It feels like, "just more of the same". And the last important point is the story. All the different emotions I felt in first few minutes into the first one where unbelievable. There was only one moment I felt something for any of the characters and that one was Joel. All the others even Elli felt like only driven by one emotion and my empathy for anyone was very limited. Everything in the story felt like such a generic revenge story and there are many games which did it better. I watched the ending in disbelieve and sat there for a minute and asked myself: "that was it?" After such a long time playing this game(the playing time was for me about 20-30h I am not sure right now) it didn´t felt satisfying. I am truly, truly heartbroken for how they decided to handle the story archs. Was it a bad game? No, from the gameplay standpoint I didn´t think so. Was it a good game? No, the story destroyed my expirience completely. The hole plot from the first is perfect. The second one feels like: "We have to put this theme on it, REVENGE, REVENGE, REVENGE. No other thing has a place in it." I will play the first one, again and again but this game is done for me. Sad but true...… Expand

Its looks like a teenage highschool love history and they suppose will take revenge for joel??? horrible...

    This game obviously obviously had some big shoes to fill. I enjoyed TLOU1 despite it's boring gameplay because of the engaging story and well crafted atmosphere. This game however fails in almost all aspects, graphics being its only saving grace. In a way it, it is the perfect example of a modern triple A failure.
    It's very pretty to look at, but has little in the way of gameplay, as it almost plays itself. There is no choice, the game is linear from start to finish. It would've made a good movie if the story wasn't bad.
    Everyones favorite character is killed off, Ellies character is all over the place, making it obvious not even the writers knew what to do with her after killing Joel.
    One second she's mad, the other she's having some lesbian fun, then she goes back to a killing rampage in order to reach Abby, the main villain of this game, then after a small genocide she finally has the chance to kill her and she has a sudden change of heart. Maybe she decided some post apocalyptical netflix and chill with her girl friend would be a better way to pass the time?
    Oh and the game pulls the genius move half way to have you play as the villain, Abby.
    No one likes her, that was the point of her from the beginning. Create the most unlikeable villain possible and make a tired revenge story. Why force the players to play as her? so you can have catharsis when you kill yourself? it's just such a badly written game it feels like it was meant to fail from the start. No clever twists, no clever writing, no memorable lines, an amateurish, tasteless and awkward narrative. That's the story we get to accompany non existent gameplay.
    What a 60 dollar scam, I feel bad for those who bought it without knowing what they're in for.
    Oh and what's with the reviews for this game? it smells like foul play to me, early review copies in exchange for 10/10 ratings, maybe even bribes.

    He knew very well people are not going to like it. But because he wasn't able to make a great story like he had done (by some miracle) back in early 2010's. So he just went full divisive, shocking, "cliché-less" and something he calls "revolutionary" and "AAA-redefining."
    He made the game to appeal only to himself taking ideas for the characters from his wild dreams and making fanfictions the model for the plotline. And justifying this with "this is life, it's unfair, you have to deal with it, it won't always appeal to you."
    The story is full of plotholes which Druckmann justifies with utter nonsense. The characters act out of character and are stupefied to infinity.
    Every critic gave 100/100 because Naughty Dogs make only the best games and they're untouchable. Because they're too scared they're going to be blacklisted by Sony and eaten alive by shills.
    The graphics are one of the best. I don't get why people act like it's somehow superior. There are other great-looking games. E.g. God of War, RDR2, Detroit. In my opinion Uncharted 4 looks better than Tlou2. The gameplay's pretty much the same as Tlou1 which is fine. The game is so hideously brutal and contains an unnecessary sex scene. No one's complaining about that. Guess when ND do it, it's ok and for the sake of the story.
    This all would get this game to somewhere between 5/10 to 6.5/10.
    But the main problem for me about the game are the totally unprofessional reactions Druckmann, Baker, Pierce, other staff, actors or fellow Sony comrades (such as Cory Balrog) pull off. Druckmann is so pathetic. For a man who said "I'd rather see people passionately hate it than be like 'it was ok'" it's so **** woeful he can't face criticism! Druckmann's ignoring all the constructive criticisms he gets everyday, he only responds to the most laughable, shakiest messages. And then he sticks out that 5½ racist, violent threats he got. Just miserable, wretched, pitiable and awful. It makes my ears want to puke whenever I hear their voices.
    This sucks out every remaining points and gets the score to the bottom zero.
    To Druckmann, shills and fanboys who think they're so intelecc when they "understand" the plot and say things like this:"the game's not supposed to be fun, it's supposed to be boring and bad to fully identify with the protagonists; it's a story the devs wanted to tell, not a story we wanted to hear; crunch culture is in every studio; false-advertising is in every project, welcome to the industry; you're too immature to understand the story; the haters are just some homophobes who don't like muscles on women, etc.; I'm gonna pull off some "Manny" for you.

    The ending is also silly and negates virtually everything that the storytellers were trying to preach.

    This is quite possibly the worst game sequel ever made. DO NOT BUY.

Trying to play with Ellie makes it seem like she is physically retarded. It’s like they turn the difficulty down a couple notches with the other character. They move faster, aim better, have better weapons that do more damage, get more supplies, are not noticed as easily, and craft more supplies with less materials. It’s a whole different game where you don’t care who you’re fighting or how much ammo you have, you’re going to win.
    Playing the guitar was a clever way of using the PS4 controller, but after doing it again and again, it’s becomes a distraction. Can we get back to the storyline...oh yea, that’s not the strong-point on this one, is it?
    Concerning the AI...it seemed the developers could not figure out whether they wanted a stealth or combat game. The AI follows predetermined patrol paths in every scene, until you do something. Then they obviously gravitate towards you no matter where you are hiding. Say you set a trap and sneak away to a quiet corner. Once the trap is triggered, all remaining enemies start moving towards you. Humans and infected both do this. It became most obvious when a human discovered me while I was hiding behind cover, and they were on top of the building I was in. Then he starting shooting and doing damage...through the roof. Hmm, ok.
    If humans and infected are in the same scene, they will only engage in a brief confrontation before they act like the other side is invisible. That part made me curse out loud. You try to lure infected towards human opponents, they engage and then...just stop and wander around each other looking for you.

    Story: Disappointing, over and over. The drama about ‘who kissed who?!’ makes it seem like you’re watching Pretty Little Liars. I wouldn’t actually know because I’ve never watched that show. Because I don’t care about who is kissing who.
    Overall, this starts as a revenge story and it’s obvious they want to say that revenge is futile. But lord they make you pay for it, and that message got beat to a pulp with the ancient Greeks. You find yourself saying, ‘wait we’re going off to do what? What does that have to do with this story? Is this even the same story, and who heck is that guy?’ After a while, it’s not the same story at all

    Concerning the events that happen, the developers try too hard for shock value and to mess with your head in obvious and tacky ways. You’re forced to do things that should have been a choice, and were probably bad ideas to begin with.
    Also on that part, the decisions that are made by the characters seem unbelievably immature considering the world where the game takes place, and they’re own statements. The characters make it obvious how they little they care about other characters but then drop everything to go do the impossible for them.
    Essentially, the first and second game have almost nothing to do with each other plot-wise. Watching it was painful and I wish I had not seen it.

    Skip it. For me, the story of Last of Us ended with Joel and Ellie walking into Jackson after they left the hospital. He lies, she cries, and the guitar plays on. Best happy ending I’ve seen in a long time    … Expand

If their goal was to not make the game fun, then they nailed it. It's pathetic that game developers don't even want games to be fun anymore. If I'm not mistaken, games are suppose to be fun. That is the reason why I even play videogames in the first place. There is so much SJW influence in this game.

    The only factor I care about this game is the story and everything related to it.
    Last of us 2 is a mess of storytelling and character development.
    Everything else is great but I couldn't care less.
    So if the story is bad in a story based game then it's a bad game.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wow I literally have no words to explain how disappointing this game is. The story is uninspiring just a whack revenge story. The only reason for killing joel was to give us this sorry excuse for a sequel, how does a man who survived everything the world has throw at him for the last 25 years gets killed in the worst possible way ever. than the game makes you play as the person who kills joel for a big part of the game in order for us to feel bad for her and justify her actions of killing her. horrible story whoever though this was a good idea obviously didn't understand the story and attached fans felt with joel and ellie for it to end with joel being killed off in such a petty way its completely idiotic. I and probably many fans though that joel would die in this game but in a more meaningful way, protecting ellie or sacrificing himself, not for a disgraceful revenge story. the fact that they make you play as this character is pretty much the worst decision ever. I put the controller down uninstalled the game and returned it to gamestop. never have I ever wanted to kill a video game character more than abby and it turns out ellie doesn't even do it. yeah heads up ellie has no problem murdering about 100+ people to get to her just to let her go in the end. worst of all ellie literally loses everything, joel, dina and the life they created, she even loses her pinky finger and ring finger and cant play the guitar anymore. holy crap the girl walks into the woods and the credits roll. what a terrible ending for such a loved character this sequel defiantly should not have been made.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
