    Story and game play for the first 10 or so hours was amazing. Graphics and settings are beautifully done. Voice acting and sound design are also on point. During my first playthru it was on track to be a 10/10 Game of the decade worthy title IMO. Then at the 3/4 mark it goes down hill. You're forced to play the last quarter as the Antagonist and to top it all off suffer the mostStory and game play for the first 10 or so hours was amazing. Graphics and settings are beautifully done.     This is a Complex and Neuanced Game not everyone will appreciate. But it is definitely not a disservice to the TLOU Franchise.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Most people hate the game because they killed a main character and that's just life. Imagine a post apocalyptic world that has gone to hell for years now, you'll do anything to survive. Joels death isn't undignifying, it's a death. Everybody's fighting to survive and will do anything to do so. This is just a game trying to be real, not fun. GOT finale killed the main main character and that made sense, same as Joel, he tried to save a girl, the girl wanted to kill him, they were running from a horde and had nowhere to go. Feels like everyone is butthurt because undignifying deaths for big characters but this is a game trying to be real. That's why you have both perspectives in the story. Everything is a moral grey area, characters aren't good or evil, they're just human. They don't care you've liked a character for X hours of gameplay, characters just see a threat and won't event think of giving a "good death" to someone who ruined their life. Everything about the game is great, graphics, gameplay, acting. Also everyone complains about not being enough Joel in the game but everyone keep forgetting it's a sequel and not a standalone game. We've had a complete game to see Joel' and Ellie's relationship. Both Abby and Ellie do terrible things for different proposes, but each one is right in it's own way. A lot of people complain about being forced to play as Abby and that's the point of it. You're Ellie and you're killing dogs and people to find who killed Joel but she doesn't know what life is to this characters, until Abby's story. It gives you a bitter taste of everything Ellie has done through the first 10 hours of the game. It's a distopya where everyone is selfish and searching for the best for them. There's no hero to our story, we're just screwed up people trying to get by. Maybe some play games to feel good and joyful and that's why games like Mario exist. This is trying to reflect society and how the moral of humanity has changed because of how badly the world is doing. We don't play TLOU2 to be a hero, we play it to be a person. Maybe the first part seemed to be a hero story but in the end you just see everyone is flawed and selfish at some point. Joel sacrificed the entire human race for Ellie, and of course this had to have consequences. They live in a world where making a mistake will most certainly kill you. That's why you don't run through a door, let anyone live... But we're human, most characters experience happiness throughout the story because that's just what life is, ups and downs. You'll have to kill dogs, women, families to get by, but that never will mean you can't have a laugh in the middle of the storm. There'll always be a human part that feels empathy and compassion, that believes humanity might not be so bad after all, and that's why they let people go. No character has a strong enough morality to always be doing the right thing, everyone tries to protect what matters to them, no matter what. Aside from this, the agenda argument is just stupid. Being gay isn't a character defying trait. We were introduced to Ellie being gay on the dlc. No trans characters unnecessarily placed on the story. Most people started talking badly about the game after Joel's death but it's nonsensical to expect everything going right in this world we've seen our characters live in. Honestly a whole game revolving around fan service would just be boring to play. Everything expected just happens, but that's why we loved the first one, it totally ignores the hero trope and shows us a real Joel, doing wrong things for his loved ones, ignoring the cost of it. With all of this said, I've found the last cutscenes to be really ambiguous and not conclusive in anyway, the main revenge plot concluded, but Ellie's life just ends up as a mystery. Not really angry about it, but I would have liked to get a more concise conclusion to Ellie's life, not just her revenge story. Leaks ruined most of the game, but I can say it's definitely worth playing and experiencing it for yourself. It won't be wasted money in any way… Expand

Gameplay geraphic everything was perfect The story was real not like stupid popular tv series or movies we see these days goin on top like peaky blinders or got ! Yeah it would be great if ellie and joel kill them all and live till the end of part 5 or 6 but this would be just for money and these people who love those tv series would love game like this too but i appriceate naughty dog for not doin dis !… Expand

    The game is a whirlwind of emotions and thought provoking on a level i have simply never experienced. I finished it a week ago and I'm still constantly thinking about it. It’s my favorite gameplay, some of the best graphics i’ve ever seen, unforgettable performances by the actors, and incredible soundtrack. This is a masterpiece.

    I don’t agree with the way the game was marketed. It cheated me of time and money. Buy the game if you want to feel misery, despair and the hopelessness.

    Masterpiece, Naughty Dogs best game. Surpasses the original, A must play for anyone who owns a PS4. Story driven cinematic tour de force.

    I understand the divisiveness of this game but I personally loved it. My high expectations following the first part were exceeded. Masterfully done by Naughty Dog, cast, and crew. A true high point in the artistry of video games, for sure.

    It breaks my heart to write this, but I really did not expect such a poor story after all these years of waiting. While there were a few genuinely good moments, majority of game filled up with plot holes. It just took elements of what worked for the first game without understanding what made them compelling. So remove story from the table and you are left with the shallow gameplay that will have you looking for some other game

    This review contains spoilers. So I got the game early and played it. I read or saw no spoilers before the release. I never do.

    So here is what I think:

    Pros:
    - gameplay
    - graphics
    - atmosphere
    - sound
    - music

    All those parts are undeniable very good. Its top notch. Sure the controls sometimes feel weird but they do in most of the games. It would be unfair to say this game isnt up to date in terms of all those points I mentioned.

    Cons:
    - story
    - character design
    - character development
    - plot holes

    So, even with all the pros this game is really really bad. It makes NO sense that Ellie act how she acts in certain parts of the game but that isnt even the biggest thing about why its bad.
    The reason is: character development.
    If you kill one of the most beloved characters early in the game (Joel) and want to bring in new main playable characters like Abby, you HAVE to bring WAY more backstory in order to make the player feel with her.
    I mean she KILLED Joel!
    How do you make the player like her? Bring more and more backstory before she does that. Let the players play 2-10h as Abby when she was a child or whatever. The backstory of her is basically told in 10minutes and then her dad is being killed. Thats it? And now I have to feel with her and understand why she killed Joel?
    Hell no!
    That is weak story telling. Really really weak.

    Then there are all the other new characters. Nobody is likeable. Like really. They all feel empty. They are only shells without any meaning.

    This game is just bad. Do yourself a favor and dont buy it. The reviews the journalists wrote are either bought by Sony or ND or are heavily politicly influenced. Sad thing is: because of that same journalists will most likely make this game GOTY. What a joke.

    Safe your money and buy something else.

    And last but not least: this is technically a very good game but the story/characters is/are SO bad it just doesnt matter how well the rest is done.

    You want a good revenge story? Watch "Oldboy" then you know how to make a good revenge story that shocks everybody to their core.

    Indian TV Series has a better story than TLOU2. The first game's story one of the best story ever. But second game's story one of the worst. Thats game **** Please, do TLOU3 start with Ellie's nightmare. Thats all stupid things must be Ellie's nightmare. Cuz thats **** story must be remobe.

    Bought a ps4 to play it expecting a story of the caliber the 1st one had and it let me down. Returned the game, beautiful graphics but hope they red-con the story. The only decent story telling was in a few flashbacks.

    I know most people don't agree with some parts of the story. But I think it just depends on your perspective. And yes things we don't like happen, that's life. I personally love it and I think it's very well written. As for gameplay, graphics and stuff like that, it's just done flawlessly. A real masterpiece.

    I was expecting better story after 7 years. But you can’t deny that graphics are arguably the best for ps4 pro, the game play has improved, diversity of characters is nice but sorry I couldn’t care less for them. The first game was masterful emotional story, this time the story is meh, maybe if it was told in deferent order it would work but imho it doesn’t work the way it was presented.

La realidad es que este juego ha tenido la mala suerte de enfrentarse a diversos factores que han provocado que muchos lo hayan jugado sin realmente tener una mentalidad abierta de que les puede gustar. Si juegas a algo esperando odiarlo, créeme que lo vas a odiar. Es un juego realista, duro, sobre la venganza y la pérdida. No está hecho para que quieras a Abby a la fuerza, sino para que sepas el por qué de sus acciones. Los creadores te proporcionan la información y tú decides qué hacer con ella. Una pena que todos no hayan podido ver más allá de: "ha matado a Joel, Abby merece morir". Los personajes son grises, no hay héroes, no hay villanos. Te dan la oportunidad de entender las circunstancias de cada grupo de personas, de dónde vienen, su naturaleza... y eso no hace su viaje menos lícito. Es comprensible no disfrutar el juego, pero si lo odias, ódialo por razones que de verdad sean factibles, no porque Joel no haya muerto heroicamente o porque te obligan a jugar como Abby. La cruda realidad es que así es la muerte, en un momento estás y al siguiente ya no, menos de la mitad de las muertes en la vida real son heroicas, sobre todo en este universo post-apocalíptico.
    Incluso admito que no era la historia que yo quería que contaran, pero es la historia que he recibido y no me ha disgustado. De ahí la puntuación.
    De verdad, no escuchéis a los haters por ser los que están hablando más alto, muchos de ellos ni han jugado el juego, solamente saben x factores de la historia que no les gustan porque a "nadie" le gustan. It is a visual wonder, with intense, versatile gameplay and a storyline that reflects the cruelty and beauty of reality. There is no such thing as heros or villains. We are all human. I waited 7 years for The Last ofThis game is an incredible and unforgiving continuation of the previous story which does so much to the players psyche. Es como los buenos vinos, lo tienes que disfrutar de principio a fin y descubrir y admirar todo lo que tiene este juego, no acabarlo para presumirlo, disfrutar hasta la partes incómodas, creo que cuando un juego te despierta sentimientos (buenos o malos) porque esta haciendo su trabajo y es el de reaccionar...     I can't believe we went from TLOU2R to this, such a downgrade in quality compared to it's predecessor. Really disappointed and people who say this is a perfect 10 are lying to themselves.

This game develops characters poorly and makes already fleshed out çharacters act in a way that is convenient to the plot instead of their character. Joels interaction with a group of armed strangers sums this up pretty well. In the first game he doesnt trust an injured man in the street, but in the second he immediately trusts about 10 armed strangers with his name and location of their home. Its not believeable. Then you spend the second half playing as the çharacter who killed him in a poor attempt to generate a sense of empathy. They barely disguise the shallow attempts to show the supposed similarities between abby and ellie by having you save a zebra as abby to mirror the giraffe scene with ellie.same with her dad supposedly being a mirror reflection of joel. However, when it comes time to decide what to do with ellie the doctor wants to operate on her without her consent and without informing her of what would happen in the hopes of a making a vaccine. Which even though this is a game, they attempt to root it in reality, so most likely the attempt to develop a vaccine off of the only immune person they have ever found would fail. Its also stupid because they make this decision within 24 hours of tests. But if he were authentic they would be running tests for months, maybe years before resorting to something that drastic. Then abby chimes in saying she would want the operation if it were her. But that type of "determination" is easy to have when its not your life on the line. Anyone can say" well this is what i would do". There is even an attempt to show that ellie is just as "bad" as abby when she kills a pregnant girl by the name of mel. However, ellie did not know she was pregnant until after killing her when she rushes ellie with a knife. During abbys campaign we see that mel refuses to stay home and safe despite being glaringly pregnant, and chooses to be on the front lines, which for me diminishes the impact of her death. I wouldnt be surprised if a marine got shot, thats kinda what they signed up for. Then later on abby has a chance to kill dina, ellies lesbian love interest, who is also pregnant. Once again a poor attempt to mirror the 2. However when ellie pleads for dinas release letting abby know she is pregnant, mayve 2 months so nothing is showing yet, abby says "good" and goes to slice her throat. These 2 pregnant "killings" are in no way comparable. Ellie never took sadistic enjoyment in killing mel, and is horrified when she sees she killed a pregnant woman. Abby is practically smiing about the idea. It then ends with ellie sacrificing her happy life to finish abby off, she loses 2 fingers and then just decides to let abby go. She returns home to find that she has also lost dina and their new child as well. Dina deciding to leave before the "cycle of revenge" kills them all. Some.people have attempted to say that the bracelet on ellies hand was dinas, so it shows that she went back to dina, who now lives in jackson, and this is just her way of saying goodbye to joel and the past. However all of ellies things are still in the house. They are purposely moved into a single room, which to me is dina showing her mentally and physically removing ellie from her life. Then to top it off, because she lost those fingers, she cant play guitar anymore which was the only thing left of joel for her to remember. So no joel, no dina or happy family, and she is a bit handicapped.So no moment for ellie. Just a bunch of "ReVeNgE iS bAd" jargon that is poorly written. The best characters in this game, and one of the only redeeming qualities of it, by a mile are yara and lev. They are the most interesting people in the game and i would have loved for them to expound on the Seraphites, a religious cult in which they escape from due to lev being trans, but we only explore it in cutscenes and murals found in the world. You do get to go to their island towards the end of abbys campaign, but there isn't much exposition. Mainly just abandoned huts and one on a rail sequence through the main village. If this was its own standalone game, with no fully explained and fleshed out characters, then i think this would get a higher score. But we waited 7 years for bad mocap, cheesy and awkward sex scenes that no one needed, some bad dialogue, more glitches than the first game and a story that doesnt make any sense. They season 8 of game of thronesed it. Where characters act in a way thats convenient to the plot. Its a shame. Im sure this will get bashed as being "homophobic" or "transphobic" but if your only response to this is to attack the person who made it, then the review is accurate. Hopefully this stays up. As for me no more naughty dog stuff while neil is in charge. Gonna stick to the uncharted games and TLOU. I wouldnt recommend this game at all. I ignored leaks and wanted to see for myself.     With very few pacing problems, this game exceeds my personal expectations. The first one was but a mere taste of what storytelling can achieve, with the second part, the narrative and storytelling is by far an evolution of what storytelling is achieved by AAA games as of today.

    There's a huge dissonance between gameplay and cutscenes that really make this story less believeable than the first.

    Ellie, the main protagonist is fine with killing hundreds of people with no remorse or regrets during gameplay, but the moment a cutscene start... she feels regret? I'm sorry what about all the people you killed on your way there?
    I had a hard time getting invested in that game, I pulled myself through it and regret wasting my time on it.

I was a huge fan of the story from tlou1 but I felt like this sequel went at length to undo things from the first to make the story fit. I didn't particularly like any character this time around. I didn't like the revenge story. Another revenge story and game I just played was rdr2 and I still think about that game. This game I can't wait to forget. It took me sometime to analyse and understand the heap of emotions I experienced for the past three week ever since I started playing this masterpiece. I have been playing video games for more than 20 years now. All these years I have enjoyed all type of games but I haven't experienced such a deep and profound video game experience ever before. Naughty dog have really taken the narrative driven video game genre to another level, this is the first time in the history of video games where a game have completely resolved the problem of ludonarrative dissonance which we often associate with narrative driven video games.

    (SPOILERS AHEAD)

    In my humble opinion last of us 2 even surpassed the original last of us. This time the story is more creepy, dynamic and scary.

    Most of the video game developers nowadays don't take story in video games seriously, they simply put stories in their games just for the sake of putting it, as a result you would end up getting an Amateurish, and outright silly stories in almost all of the video games. It's always a challenge for developers to blend a mature story with gameplay elements which an average gamer might expect,since both are conflicting in nature, some of the developers have tried and ended up failing miserably on both the fronts. But naughty dog took bold steps to resolve this age old conflict and I can very well say that they came out with flying colors.

    I have finished the game in survivor mode and the gameplay experience was very challenging and satisfying at the same time.

    And the story is something which is worthy of a Netflix series on its own, throughout the game i often wondered am I really playing a video game?? That's how matured, deep and dynamic the story was. Even while playing with the NPC as your allies, the conversation which they have between themselves sounds quite natural and genuine and it doesn't feel forced, its pretty apparent that developers didn't take any aspects of the game lightly.

    Despite unanimous approval from all of the reviewers some of the users are disappointed with this game and it's story, it happens mainly because of the fact that most of the average gamer haven't experienced such a deep dynamic story and character arcs in a video game ever before.

    All they want is some straight to the point simple average story. Naughty dog knowingly took the bold risk of choosing a story which will divide the fan base into two and yes it actually divided the fan base, and it's fine as a video game need not satisfy all of the gamers out there, and I completely understand why some people don't like it. Most of the fans of the first game got emotionally attached to protagonist of the first game Joel, and they didn't like the fact that their favourite character died in the initial act of the story itself and the worst of all in the later part of the game they have to play as a character who killed Joel. But the main reason behind that idea was to understand different perspectives and for me personally it really worked, I started liking Abby over the course of the game, yes,at certain parts it was challenging for me, especially in the part where she had to fight with Ellie, but if you remove your unconscious emotional bias towards certain characters and play the game mainly for the sheer experience of it,then this game rewards you with a profound, real experience which you wouldn't have experienced in any other video games before.

    It's been more than 3 weeks since I finished this game but i feel somehow sad and empty ever since. No other video game have impacted me this much.

    Does it make this a perfect game?? the answer is "NO" but the game flaws can be forgiven and it's shortcomings can be ignored,since what you are playing is not some other random crap, it's a genre defining Experience which will inspire many more developers to take this route and this gem will be remembered as one of the greatest achievement in the history of video games.

    I am not someone who normally reviews anything. This game compelled me to do otherwise. The way ND got you emotionally invested in this game is like nothing I have ever played before. The story is elevated to new heights, even when it is absolutely difficult to play through at times, but that is just a compliment to the creators. 10/10 best story I have ever seen a game pull off.

If it is compared to the rest of the AAA games that are out there it is a definitive 10, there is no other game that can be compared in gameplay except MGS V, and if we talk about graphics it is the best that exists today it is almost not to believe that it is running on a PS4 and not on an RTX, the audio quality is just as sublime the audio is so good that it becomes something that is part of the same gameplay and gives total immersion, listening to the Seattle rain is more impressive to be a PS4 which the audio is not as good as it was on ps3 and the music of Gustavo Santaolalla because we all know how good it is, the art design, needless to say, it is the best of the game just like it was in the first, artificial intelligence is one of the best there is, enemies are always alert, they communicate with each other, they flank you, they track you down and they notice if something is wrong or if a partner is missing, in addition to going in front of an enemy or being exposed for a long time is very complicated, one thing for sure is that it is the game with the best lighting system (not RT) of all, and the characters (except for the unmentionable) are very good, Dina, Jessie, Owen or Lev have very defined personalities and can be empathized and feel interest very easily, and if we talk about the voice acting work this is something that was already a guarantee of excellence with the actors that we know lend the voice, and if we play on the subject of animations it is definitely the most natural and refined that It exists so much so that people came to think that the gameplay trailer was cinematic because it was not to be believed, the studio animations are to date the best in the industry.     From the moment I finished part 1, 5 years ago, I waited for this title. Now I wish that there was no 2nd part of this. For a game that is heavily story-based, this game falls flat. Graphics and action is something that you'll find in every other title that releases nowadays. The gameplay is repetitive and not at all as fun as it was in part 1. If the makers were going for a tragedy title,From the moment I finished part 1, 5 years ago, I waited for this title. Now I wish that there was no 2nd part of this.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
