    Absolutely terrible. I was a hardcore Last of Us fan and this game totally wasted my time. Full of plot holes and just a grind to play in the last hours. No payoff for the time you invest either. Game basically amounts to nothing. It feels more like a tech demo with cutscenes and only journalist mode (invisible while prone) makes it bearable to slog through the second half of the game.Absolutely terrible.     I was always thinking that games are not related with violence in real world. I have changed my mind. This game was created to teach people hate and violence. Game for sadists, sociopaths and psychopaths. Disgusting.

    In a narrative driven game, the story is the highlight of it. This game does not deliver on this front. From out of character decisions, unlikeable characters to cheap tactics of manipulation that barely work.
    It's not even the decision and events early on, that are setting events for the entire game (which in itself, is quite dumb considering the reception) but the execution of it. The failed attempt of the second half of the game and the ending make it unbearable, it even ruined the first entry for me, I'll never be able to go back to it. I had a Dawn of Justice flashbacks during the cutscene. The themes explored are presented so bluntly and often, that in the end you're asking yourself what was this game about? It couldn't be that obvious and left unanswered, because the cliched answer can't be it in The Last of Us? Plus there's a serious case of false advertising it, calling it Ellie's story and naming her the protagonist without mentioning anything else is just plain wrong, it's just MGS2 but bad.
    Other than that, the game has beautiful world, minor improvements to the combat, better levels than the first entry. I think people praising AI just confuse aggressive AI with good AI, since it's still dumb and enemies will line up for you. The score also deserves praise. It would really be fine if it wasn't a sequel to The Last Of Us, like 6/7 out of 10. And please watch the podcast about Neil, Troy and Ashley talking about it. They have no idea what their game is about.    … Expand

    I love the environment, acting (not all), and seems a little outdated for a 2020 game with the mechanics they present. The story first half was great, but you can see when it's starting to get dull, where stuff was just thrown together.     Let's just briefely talk about the gameplay, then we'll skip to the story:
    the combat is quite simple yet fun, with impeccable animations and interactions that make it very satisfying. The pacing is pretty much perfect, alternating combat, to exploration, to cutscenes, to a bit of platforming and puzzles; during all these sections the characters are constantly discussing (even the "bad guys"), and they are so well written that they feel like they're real people. Nothing to say about the technical aspects, best in class, crazy attention to detail and animations, i'd say they're unmatched (i didn't like the jumping animations and some of the dodges tho).

    I strongly belive that part 2 is far superior in every aspect, story and narration included, when compared to part 1. I get that yall are upset that they killed Joel, i was too, but i didn't immediately discarded the story as garbage because he died and came here to leave a 0 out of 10 review driven by rage, i trusted Neil and the team, if they made me care for the characters in the first part, they could do it again with other characters, even with the "villain", if Joel dies it's not the end of the world.

    I'm seeing people say that they are disappointed not because he died, but because he died in a stupid way, letting his guard down, something that he would never do. Now, he did let his guard down in the first game too when meeting new people, even if he had no reason to trust them (like Harry and Sam), but in this case he really had no choice to follow "the bad guys" inside the house, they were running away from a horde and there was a snowstorm outside. Also, they didn't have any reason not to trust them either, they had just saved Abby, so that was no reason for her to hurt them.
    I've seen people argue that Joel knew that the fireflies were looking for him so he shouldn't have told them his name, but thats just false, Joel knew that the fireflies were disbanded an that's it.

    The second big complaint is the ending: i know that what i'm about to say sounds pretentious, but please, PLEASE, hear me out with an open mind, you... probably did not understand the ending; the message is not "revenge bad", when you oversimplify this much, anything sounds stupid, even the gratest movie or book. When Abby spares Ellie and Dina in the theater, Ellie stops wanting revenge because she realizes that in order to get it she was gonna lose what she had left (Jesse killed, Tommy and Dina Wounded), at this poin she still kinda wants to kill Abby, but she realizes that it's probably not worth it. So her and Dina go to live peacefully in a farm, which was kind of a dream of theirs. But Ellie is still tormented and can't sleep, at this point she already doesn't want revenge anymore, what pushes her to go and try to kill Abby once again is her desire to "live again", to free herself from this burden, it's not a matter of making Abby suffer anymore, it's a matter of ending her own suffering.
    When she finally gets to Abby in Santa Barbara, she sees herself and Joel reflected in Lev and Abby, she hesitates for a moment but then she decides to fight, when she is about to kill her, she sees Joel, not the Joel covered in blood that she has been seeing all this time, but a peaceful Joel, sitting on the porch playing the guitar: this means that even tho she lost everything, in that moment she got her humaneness back, which means that she can now go back to living, she can move on, and she lets Abby join "her own Ellie", Lev, and lets them get away.

    I hope i did a good job at explaining what i think, as english is not my first lenguage, anyway my words aren't enough to describe all the emotions, so i implore you, play the game again (or get it if you didn't want to because of all the negative user reviews), but this time let it grow on you, try not to flag it as garbage from the start, let the emotions flow and let the events hit you as they should, do NOT be blinded by rage. If you watch a horror movie with the intention of not being scared, you are not gonna get scared, if you play TLOU2 with the intention of not feeling anything, you are not gonna feel anything.

    One last thing, for the first hour or so that i played as Abby, i hated it too. Just look at her like you used to look at Joel, as they are one and the same.

    Edit: after not even 10 seconds "0 people out of 2 found this review helpful", this is just hilarious, 2 people voted as not helpful and didn't even read it, guided by rage. Imagine asking a for a story to make sense (which btw it already does) while acting irrationally, great job everyone.    … Expand

    Still a brilliant game but not quite as strong as the first installment of the series. It makes some bold story choices which I've learned to accept and personally, I found abby's flashbacks added an interesting spin on the ending of the first game. I began questioning who was more deserving of seeking vengeance. I understand though why so many people are angry with ND's story decisions

    Por último, NINGÚN juego debería tratar activamente de hacerte sentir mal contigo mismo y con todo. Se sintió como un trabajo pesado en la miseria. Terminas odiando a todos en el juego.

    So many 0-1/10. It is offending and anyone giving this title 0 or 1 is an idiot unable to handle the emotions as a grown up.. feel bad for the creators who put so much effort in this game. Maybe it does not deserve 10/10 as I rated it. But haven't enjoyed any game like this since God of War. Not even RDR with it's obsolete game mechanics and ok story.

Disconnect from your reality, sit back, and enjoy thisOne of the greatest games ever written. It's rare to have a video game experience similar to what The Last of Us part 2 will give you. An emotional storytelling journey of hate, revenge, and ultimate empathy. One which makes you both regret and embrace all decisions you feel you're making, but really are just along for the ride in.     The first one was brilliant. I purposely avoided spoilers. Couldn't finish this one the direction they took it was tragic. Devastated LGBTQ & PCness is being rammed down our throat's by people with a personal agenda ruining video games first BFV no this.
    To add insult to injury was reminded of my dad's death on Father's Day no less.
    GUTTED.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It is the most beautiful game I have ever played. The opening scene alone is worth a 10/10. But looks alone can only take a game so far . Here are some of the problems I observed while playing the game:

    1) it just way too dark - the story of Last of us used to be about hope even in the bleakest of times , but the sequel has completely forgotten that and made it a half broken story about revenge and most of all the story was so dark that since I have finished the game I don't even want to look at my PS4.

    2) the story has a lot of narrative flaws - I mean a lot 3) combat is the same as the previous game - basically they just copied the previous games combat with a few minor improvements

    Pro tip: when you fight Ellie just let her kill you 10 - 20 time's it's the most satisfying thing in the game

    On an unrelated note for those who have played the : I bet jole don't like golf    … Expand

    Great story, great gameplay. Can't understand the review bombing, maybe people just wanted a sequel like you get from the fast and furious franchise. Top marks to Naughty Dog for having the courage to not try and pander to the masses and make something unique.

Graphics are gorgeous, the atmosphere and animations are on point, the gameplay is like the first one with some improvements here and there, the AI sometimes can be downright stupid, the accesibility options are a great addition, but the story...my god......so first of all joel's death, i have no problem with him dying, i have a problem with how he dies, like he just gives his name to a bunch of strangers and then they kill him, we're talking about a man that ran over a guy just because he didn't trust him...the death was idiotic, they are trying so hard to make previously estableshed characters, they try to make abby "likeble" via cheap manipulation tactics yet she shows no remorse for killing anyone unlike ellie, and the ending.......so you do all that **** kill so many people and dogs, for nothing?!?!?!?! it has some good moments like the flashbacks with joel and ellie, or ellie in the music store but the overall plot is just a bad fanfiction, and i saw better fanfictions for this game than what we got.
    i'll give it 4/10, if it will ever have a multiplayer then 6.    … Expand

    Sometimes the world is dirty and brutal. Sometimes it doesn't tie up into neat little bows, and no one is perfect. We're all flawed, mistake prone, and bound to fail. That is The Last of Us 2.

    You're going to hear a lot from people that haven't played the game about how poor the story is, but the truth is that this is one of the best stories that I've ever seen in a game. It takes    Sometimes the world is dirty and brutal. Sometimes it doesn't tie up into neat little bows, and no one is perfect. We're all flawed, mistake prone, and bound to fail. That is The Last of Us 2.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So after years of waiting, I've finally completed TLOU2. I dont see why there is so much hate? The graphics are unreal. The story has a completely different feel (I personally feel that as Joel has died people are losing there **** and it was a great example of a strong character. The game itself was great and I can honestly say that you need to play the game itself, and form your own opinion. Some reviews I believe are harsh (again it's my opinion). I feel like abby was a great addition and was a character that wasnt liked to start with, when you learn about her you suddenly develop an understanding for what shes done and why she killed Joel. People need to play the full game (some are not finishing this and turning it off after Joel) and realise that its darker than before, not every story has a spectacular happy ending. This game not only had me hooked, it had my crying, stressed, angry and all other kinds of emotions. I really hope that people who play the game, complete it and then have an honest opinion. I ended up watching the rest through a let’s play.

I think it’s extremely dishonest that metacritic & certain journalist have a problem with all the negative reviews by saying they’re are bots & saying this & that but they have no problem at all with all the 10/10 review bombs.     People are straight out review bombing the game without reason. With one hour straight into the game you get hit by one of the most cruel deaths you can ever get. The game creates the feeling of hate towards Abby since hour one. As the game progresses you start to see how Ellie recklessly goes into a path of revenge, transitioning from the sweet innocent girl we were introduced in the game we all agree we love, TLOU. Ellie starts to become a savage and lose this humanity she was characterized of, but she doesn’t quite lose it, she is filled with regret, regret towards not being in good terms with Joel, regret of torturing someone else, killing someone who is pregnant, she is scared because she is actually alone. The moment Joel gets shot with that shotgun, Ellie loses absolutely everything. In game one after Ellie runs away, in a very emotional scene she transmits to Joel how she has lost everything and how the only person she has is him, and in fact it is true. Everyone who is trashing the game talks about the dysfunctional relationship between Ellie and Dina, and how it makes the story trash, this is on purpose, Ellie does not care about Dina, Jesse, Tommy, etc. All she cared for was Joel, and the game transmits that in a cruel yet beautiful way, the game makes you feel lost in anger next to Ellie.
    Then the gameplay, which we all must agree is way better than the first, since it is fast paced, scary, dark, gruesome and flexible. You literally can choose if you want to engage in a fight or just straight up skip it. The accessibility the graphics, everything gameplay wise is just gorgeous and distinct. Back to my point, when you start playing with Abby everyone wants to delete the application, and I get it, I did want that to. When I started to play with Abby I did not give a **** about her dad, I tried making her die multiple times to see if the game ended, etc. I was **** pissed. Ten hours after playing with Abby I was **** smiling, Abby portrays the female version of the story of Joel and Ellie, and how she moved on from revenge, she got what she wanted by killing Joel but at the same time she was as humane as it was possible in an apocalyptic world, Abby let Ellie and Tommy leave, her thing was with Joel and Joel only. The game shifts the character of evil to our loved character Ellie, she goes on a path of absurd and obscure torture just to hurt Abby. The game makes you hate yourself for putting yourself in the shoes of Abby, when Jesse dies and you fight with Ellie in the theater scene you don’t want them to fight, why? Because you don’t want to kill Ellie and that is obvious, at the end of the fight Ellie is **** trashed and Abby proves to be the bigger person by just leaving all of them there. I was scared when I saw the scene of the house, I said what the **** is this bull**** and when I see tommy I knew **** was going down, skipping all of this, you get to the big showdown, all cut up Ellie literally bleeding out, it all just feels empty, cruel, you tie down Abby and you blackmail her into fighting you by putting a knife to Lev’s throat which is the symbolic representation of Ellie in chapter one, the fight starts and man, the **** scenery, it looked like I was fighting in the octagon of hell, beating the **** out of each other, biting extremities, etc. While Ellie was drowning Abby while in tears I just didn’t want to keep pressing square, it felt wrong, Ellie was not Ellie anymore, and Abby ended up being any other character trying to survive and find justice by their own hands in the post apocalyptic world. As Ellie plays Days of you and me on the guitar with the missed strings my heart just broke, Ellie fulfilled her biggest fear we learn in game one while she talks with Sam, she was scared of ending up alone, and she was alone since hour one of the game, no one mattered except Joel, as we see the last flashback, we see how Ellie is not mad at Abby for killing her, she is mad with herself, for not forgiving Joel during his time alive, I hated this game, I hated myself and ended up hating Ellie, and that is what makes this game a masterpiece.

    (Btw, yes, **** SJW and the agenda, but somehow the game did not force it, kinda did not like how Lev was trans, but it does not damage at all the Beauty mixed with darkness The Last of Us is about).    … Expand

    TLOU was first and foremost a story about SURVIVAL. It was the story of how 2 completely different characters found in each other the reason to keep moving on, even in the darkest of days. Joel found in Ellie what he had lost in his daughter, and Ellie found in Joel what she couldn´t have from her mother. It could be bleak and somber at times but it never lost sight of this concept. This connection meant you always had a reason for moving on. And the ending, while not happy nor sad, offered hope and reinforced the quest for SURVIVAL (as mentioned previously).

    TLOU2 completely dismisses its predecessor and serves a depressing tale about selfish revenge, and an endless self-serving cycle of violence that leads nowhere. It tries to vilify those we admire and humanize those we despise. It forcefully lectures the player into believing there are no heroes nor villains, no good or evil and that everything is justifiable. What a major disappointment. The same minds responsible for one of the best stories of the last generation created a sequel with the sole purpose of "getting people riled up". In this instance, they have succeded. Simply because I want to see the score raised as it is lowered by entitled gamers who have rated it poorly due to the leaks - or have played a few hours up until the death scene. First I want to start by saying that Joel was one of my favorite video game characters ever, and seeing him brutally killed made me as angry as everyone else. It also made me absolutely despise Abby. I was livid when I realized half way through the game that she had her own separate campaign of 12+ hours. But by no means do I think that this game is “trash” because of it. First. In a realistic sense, it’s an apocalyptic world. People die. All the time. It is unrealistic to think that main characters who are beloved will live forever. Second. As much as I loved Joel, Abby had every reason to want revenge. He murdered multiple fireflies to get Ellie out. Not to mention killed Abby’s dad when he easily could have wounded him. THEN. On Ellie and Tommy’s revenge kick, they murder all of Abby’s other friends who are decent people. Abby left Ellie alive TWICE. Because she isn’t a horrible person, and just had the need to avenge her father. That is why Ellie chooses not to kill Abby at the end (though I wanted to see it happen). It’s because she willingly makes the choice to move on. She realizes she is the villain. Not Abby.

    The game isn’t trying to push a political agenda. The game isn’t trying to make he viewers sympathize for Abby. The game is portraying a realistic visual of how actions have consequences. Joel made a decision to murder all the fireflies - this is what it cost him. Ellie made a decision to avenge Joel by murdering all of Abby’s friends - it cost her jesses life, her relationship with Dina, and more guilt. Her realization of this comes right before she kills Abby. She knows her death will only bring her more misery and guilt. So she willingly decides to forgive, same as she did with Joel in the flash back. It’s F’ing beautiful. That’s my rant. Big fan naughty dog. Forget the haters    … Expand

Realmente no era lo que esperaba y decepciona al inicio, pero con mas de 20 horas de juego que ofrece, va mejorando en cada capítulo e incluso llegó a agradarme Abby gracias a que se desarrolló bien su historia (algo que debió hacerse antes de que matara a Joel) Con mas variedad de enemigos humanos y de mutaciones del hongo, probablemente el juego con mejores animaciones que he jugado, los gráficos exprimen al máximo la potencia de la PS4, la IA mejora mucho en cuanto al primero y da un mayor reto, además de que tener a dos personajes jugables con diferentes habilidades y equipamiento hace menos repetitivo el juego, en cuanto a la banda sonora, Gustavo Santaolalla hizo una muy buen trabajo pero es imposible superar el que realizó en el primero. No supera al primer juego pero así como Uncharted 4 no superó a Uncharted 2, está al nivel del primero y del cuarto. En general Naughty Dog lo ha hecho bien y es un buen cierre de generación (Así como lo fue TLOU 1 para PS3)

    Calificación final: 8.7/10

    Ahora solo queda esperar a la serie de HBO y esperar una nueva IP de ND    … Expand

You'll learn that the good guys aren't always true paragons, and aren't immune to receiving their comeuppance when it's well-earned. If you enjoy thinking about your entertainment for days after it's over, rather than being mindlessly bombarded with flashy explosion, then this game is for you.

    I'd like to briefly address the unhelpful negative reviews on this site. These reviews are written by upset individuals who feel they can no longer identify with the main characters that they'll be playing as. It is honestly sickening to see how little empathy there is in the gaming community as evidenced by these early reviews. I spent the better part of my weekend since the release playing this game, and waited until I finished and digested the ending to write this review. I highly doubt the same could be said for the tens of thousands of negative reviews.

    To those who are writing these terribly uninformed reviews, I ask that you learn to put yourself in another's shoes. It's a shame that we've come so far in this medium, and the moment there's a change that makes real progress with respresentation, this is the result. Yes, the story is bleak; that's kind of the point of this revenge story. Seeking revenge ends with what you see in the game's powerful ending. If you left feeling empty and hollowed out, then congratulations, you have learned to empathize. Use that empathy to accept that there are gamers of all races, genders, and cultures who enjoy being represented in their entertainment, and cheer on game studios who are willing to use their platform to make strides towards inclusivity in this wonderful medium.    … Expand

From the Death of Joel right through to the explanation of said death I was gripped. The player isn't really given a chance to breathe, adding to the frantic nature of which TLOU universe resides.     I am someone who enjoyed this game. The combat was great. With the 2 harder difficulties, the only thing I didnt like about it was it was hard to get ammo from enemy's. It was they never ran out of ammo shooting at me but they got off ever last bullet before they dead. The story was good. I enjoy something different when it comes to story. And that was delivered.     I personally loved this game. Yes it does some stuff different to what the first game did but overall i believe it worked, this game is not as simple as the first one instead it is much more of a personal journey from two opposing perspectives which drives home the message that there are no hero's in this world, only the ones who get out alive and those who don't.

    I don't really want to get into details again. Graphics, Sounds, Music and the general athmosphere is amazing. Thats were the 4 points coming from. But the Story is not only illogical, forced and just wrong... Its not really "good" either. The only emotions I had while playing it were attached to characters I know since part 1. The author surely had a good vision with his "There is no black and white, just different shade of grey" thing, but even that is nothing new. I would've liked it, but he overshoots the target by far. I had the feeling he got totally lost in his vision and forgot, what made part 1 good. Since this is a Story Game, I focus on the Story the most while writing this review and thats simply not good... Also it made the first part almost unenjoyable for me too. In the end I'm not very happy with this game and how the franchise turned out.… Expand

    Unfortunately people it’s just hating and they don’t realize what naughty dog is doing with this game, it’s deeply than any other, and the most important thing, you learn about this, you empathize with characters, what they feel, this is more Than just a videogame, this is a story that you will learn a lot. And I’m very thankful with naughty dog for that

    Madre mía el review bombing. Pues yo el juego lo he gozado a unos niveles increíbles. Que la historia vaya por donde tú no querías no significa que el juego ya esté mal escrito. Quizá hubiera sido mejor acortar varias partes de combate, pero por lo demás, me ha gustado el mensaje que traslada

    This game is a work of art, without a doubt.
    There are problems, we didn't reach perfection, I waited about 7 years to see this game, and I don't regret having waited with so much hype. Most people just play with the intention of killing Abby for what they did to Joel (even though the game was trying to humanize her, in fact, I didn't like Abby, and even though the game was trying to show us its part, I wanted to seeing her dead.), perhaps not remembering that Ellie is a human, not a killing machine. The way this game affected me was unlike any game I've ever played. Even with problems, The Last of Us Part 2 is a game that I will love, and whenever I arrive at certain times, I will be moved again. TLU is the most important game of my life.    … Expand

The story was plausible, characters were plausible, and now? It's all destroyed, more and more, the more you play. It's like Naughty Dog decided to take the game apart, or someone in the team have said: "Let'sFranchise destroyed by bad decisions for the storytelling. You could proceed with part 3 and 4 and 5 and people would love it, because of the story you have written. But now, it's like a pain in the a*s to play, there is no fun to play it, there is no matter to play it. Oh Naughty Dog team, what have you done with this game???     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
