    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story and writing is amazing. What makes it great is the step away from cookie cutter stories of typical games/shows/movies. Anyone can die and the moral conflicts will have you wondering if you're the hero and if you'll get your revenge. If you must be the hero who get theirs way then this game may not be for you and any other fair-weather gamers. Excellent story telling and character development. Expansive environment is overwhelming to explore at times and enemy AI is a little lackluster.

    No gamer enjoys having the character you play as swapped unknowingly mid game. I was so upset I stopped and waited until I got some sleep. The emotional toll is so real I didn't want to play as the person I should be killing. While my view of the character didn't change from seeing her story, its all a vicious cycle and Joel didn't NEED to kill everyone at the hospital, I began to take joy in knowing everything she had was being taken from her while you play from her perspective. The saddest part was losing Owen, who seemed to struggle more realistically with being a good friend and wanting to leave Joel in the past. His character would of done well in a longer story. The ending for me was great and satisfied. It was not about Ellie getting revenge but getting right with herself. The struggle between wanting to have died for a cure and accepting the love of Joel for saving her was a real balance Ellie needed to find. She felt bad for having telling him He should have let her die and felt obligated to avenge his death. If you don't like the story then go read some books. Not every games story you play should have the exact same story arc outline and meet your character expectations.    … Expand

    This Game is MASTERPIECE. I don't know what you could ask more. Combat is more brutal than the first one which make a dark gritty world more realistic. Visual is stunning even run on the base PS4. Seattle is very interesting as a main location. And the story is ASTONISHING. It make me rethink what is good and bad. Everything you have done had a following consequence. Which, in the end. HadThis Game is MASTERPIECE. I don't know what you could ask more.     Je ne dirai rien sur le scénario si ce n'est qu'il est perturbant, et nous questionne en tant qu'humain. Je pense que ND a réussi son pari et les avis divisés sur le jeu en atteste. Pour ma part, c'est positif,et je vous laisse découvrir par vous-même.
    Le gameplay, bien que semblable au 1er, est affiné et c'est très bien comme ça. Je le trouve plus que suffisant et il se rend au service de l'univers où chaque ressource compte.
    Certains personnages manquent selon moi d'un peu de profondeur, mais dans l'ensemble, l'écriture de ces derniers est réussie.

    Un 19/20, ce jeu restera dans la mémoire collective des joueurs !    … Expand

    Пишу отзыв 24, т.к не стал судить по первым частям гейплея, а прошел ее, подождал пару дней для формирования своей оценки и она ничуть не изменилась.
    Мое мнение - люди не готовы воспринимать так критично происходимое в игре. Да, сюжет незамысловатый, но морали он несет огромное количество. Это как фильм, который не имеет хепиэнда и оставляет неприятный осадок внутри.
    Скажу так - игра вас поимеет, и если вы не умеете думать критически - проходите мимо. Эта игра не для вас. Купите себе лучше какую-то очередную игрушку об отношении отцов и детей или бродилку.    … Expand

    There are some minor flaws to the game, and not everyone has to like it. The story is brutal, harsh and extremely emotional (I never cried during any film or game till I played this one, this game made me cry, laugh and scream out loud.) but that's what this game was supposed to be the whole time. The nice moments are rare, and most of the time you will feel devastated and angry, just like Ellie does, and thats what makes this Game special. And just because it's not a nice story doesn't mean it's a bad one, especially since it's really good written and incredible well incised.
    To really appreciate the story, you have to be open minded, and give the story and the characters a fair chance, and not just be stuck with your mindset you have after a couple hours, which is hard for sure. But only then you will fully understand the story Naughty Dog wanted to tell, and maybe even learn a lesson from it. The Game will definitely be stuck in my memories for a really long time, and I'm glad to have given this game the chance.    … Expand

    This is THE game of generation, everybody should play this, do not lisen to other people that are saying game is bad and story sucks, just play it and have your own opinion, i saw the leaks and i did not liked them, but when you finish the game, you will see why this is the BEST GAME and best story telling experiance you every saw, just give it a shot, it will be worth it

    Part 2 surpasses part 1 in every aspect, the way it has made me feel both during and after playing it is crazy. ND has raised the bar yet again but in a very different way this time. It was masterfully written. There is never a hero or villain in the world of the last of us so this was the most honest story ND could have told. When I first played as Abby after she killed Joel I killed her by letting clickers bite her, I jumped off buildings etc. I did not want to play as her. But By the end I didn't want Ellie to drown her. I really didn't know how to feel a lot of the game but I loved what I played.     It is an excellent game that raises the issues of personal formation in society, radicalization of religion, problems of violence, stigmatization, growing up and combating psychological trauma.

    After passing, you may experience an unpleasant feeling that can be easily confused with dislike of the game itself. But after a while, everything falls into place.

There was NOTHING I would complain about or disagree with. This game HAS to be played in order to understand the whole story. Watching playthroughs is not enough.Trust me. I finished it today. I cried, laughed, thought about specific things and sometimes I was left completely speechless. This game deserves nothing but a 10/10. Everyone who says it is a 1-3 /10 is lying. Those have NOT played the game or at least DIDNT finish it until the end. These are just people who watched playthroughs and are not happy with the story because a character died.     I don’t know why everyone is giving it such bad scores. It’s an amazing game. Just because you don’t enjoy the story doesn’t mean it justifies the whole game being bad. The amount of detail and care that went into the game shows so much in the gameplay and the environments. Other sequels only wish they could be this good.

    I love Ellie and liked Joel, but what he did at the end of the first game was a hard decision but a wrong one. Killing Fireflies who fought for a future and a Doctor who was so precious in these times was unacceptable. It was tough how he got killed, but frankly, it was only a matter of time before someone demanded revenge.

    So it was Abby. I have to say I didn't like her in the beginning, but in the end, I did. And I was glad that she survived the game thanks to Ellie. Both paid a high price for their revenge.

    For example, after Joel Ellie lost her Horse Shimmer, Jesse, her ability to play guitar, her relationship, and almost Tommy. He lost an eye and his leg is ruined.

    After Jerry Abby lost her Dog, Alice, her love Owen and her friends Manny, Mel with her baby, Jordan, Leah, Nick, Nora, after being tortured by Ellie? Nora lived after we hit her three times with the pipe because Ellie returns to the theater and says: I made her talk.

    Anyway, it was a tough and long journey. Can't wait for part III. Thanks, Naughty Dog.    … Expand

It drew me in so quick and yes they do have similar mechanics from the first game but I mean what do you expect. There's not much you can do to a system that's not flawed. They made the game play smoother, more fun, and it perfected it. This is some of the best stealth game play that I have ever seen. It's so fun and just so amazing. This game is phenomenal and don't think it's bad by just playing till a major story beat happens. Spend some time with it. And also to all the people who were completely shocked by what happened, come on seriously you should've known it would happen. Where else would they take the story and make it as good as the last one. The game is phenomenal… Expand

    this game is perfect in every way. You really can't judge the story unless you've played it. It really snuck on me and made me feel emotions I hadn't known existed. You might think I'm overexaggerating, but that is truly how I felt. Its almost as if we all have our own subjective experiences that lead us to have different, subjective, opinions of this game... huh what an interesting thought

    Brutal. Muestra la naturaleza humana desarrollada en un mundo apocalíptico. Muchos esperaban un videojuego palomitero en historia (Que le gustara a todo el mundo, todo color de rosas). La gente no tiene claro el contexto de cada parte, ni el mensaje de fondo de las mismas.

    Mucho Sasel suelto, con su dedito acusador. Este juego es brutal en todo sus aspectos.

    An absolute masterpiece. Congratulations Neil, the ND team, the musicians and actors on an amazing job. The emotions you feel from experiencing this game is immense from joy, sadness, grief, vengeance, empathy, love and forgiveness. Absolutely phenomenal.

    This is what happens when you develop a game to satisfy certain groups of people, it's clear that they have no issues destroying a good story to get shock value.

    I understand when people don’t genuinely like the game...but to review bomb a game based on **** personally beliefs or to simply be a troll is stupid as hell. The game is a masterpiece from the graphics all the way to the gameplay. TLOU 2 doesn’t try to hold your hand like in the first TLOU.     Ganz realistisch gesehen ist es eines der besten Games für die PS4. Grafisch und vom Umfang her sehr stark.
    Die Spielphysik und Steuerung ist fast wie beim ersten Teil. Aber die Aufmachung ist top, auch zu beachten ist Wertungsfrei gesehen eine hohe Brutalität. Die nicht in meine Wertung einfließt. Im Grundsatz sollte man eher den Wertungen derSpielkritikern von Testseiten oder Zeitschriften glauben.

    Der Userscore hat viel damit zu tun das die Story mit Homosexualität und Transgender Zusammenhang handelt. Auch die herausgekommenen Arbeitsumstände der Mitarbeiter hat eine Hatergemeinde zusammengezogen die ein gutes Spiel versucht nim Rating nach unten zu drücken.    … Expand

Seeing as there are so many negative comments on here bashing this game on so many different levels, I want to give a positive rating and positive feedback as I have played and beaten the game and am now on my second play through. I am an avid gamer, I have not done a critique of any game but I feel this is necessary. The last of us part 2 is a great game, no matter what other people say. You cannot, and I cannot emphasize this enough, CANNOT CRITIQUE A GAME YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED. All of the comments of people who saw spoilers of the games story and immediately said it was the worst thing ever and that Naughtydog has fallen short of what they were thought to be able to achieve should be ashamed of themselves. Everyone was so ready to finally get a conclusive story to The last of us after 7 long years but when it comes down to getting what you think you want, it just doesn’t live up to expectations. This is not my opinion however. I quite enjoyed part 2. I avoided spoiling the game for myself and only ever really saw the cinematic trailer, the one with Lotte Kestner’s cover of True Faith, and that sold me. I had preordered the game prior to this because I fell in love with The last of us since the originals release. I played through the game over the corse of 3 days with my girlfriend watching as I went through the chapters and uncovered the story of what was going to happen to Ellie and Dina and Abby. We were both enticed by the story and it was hard to look away, even when Joel was killed. It was heartbreaking. A beloved character murdered by a woman with her own plot for revenge on what happened to her father. (This also goes along with the people who didn’t play the game not knowing why he was murdered and just wanted to make ND out for being a horrible company that kills off main characters for no reason what so ever. Not the case and you would know that if you’d played the game and got at least 2/3 the way through the game.) Following Ellie through Seattle was a trip. The visuals were stunning, the sound design amazing, the score added to the feel of being in a place that had been taken over by nature for the past 25 years, it was all fantastic. I truly had no downside to this game (aside from being emotionally distraught/angry that Joel was killed in the first hour and a half into the game) until about halfway through the game when the story flips to Abby’s point of view. Now I get why this was, to get more of the story and pan out the run time of the game. I’m not saying it was a bad thing, it just put a nasty knot in my stomach to play as her for 4-6 hours and at the end of it beat up Ellie. It didn’t sit right. But then it donned on me. With the story that was given to me, it made me apathetic towards Abby and made me feel as if she wasn’t such a bad person. Though in a story like this I guess there are no good guys. I will not spoil the ending act though I feel most of the people on here have already seen it on YouTube or elsewhere on the internet. I will leave you with this statement: Do not be a sheep, conjure your own opinions after full completion of a topic. If you do not know, do not open your mouth, you risk sounding like a belligerent moron at the sake of my brain cells killing them selves from reading your horrendous and illegitimate reviews. (And for those who said they falsely advertised the game with Joel looking different in the trailers: Yeah, companies do that. Hell, they did the same thing with the first game but the opposite, they said you wouldn’t be able to play as Ellie but in the 3rd act you start as Ellie. Grow up people. Don’t bandwagon something before you’ve even given it a shot. You’re the reason companies struggle to make content, because you “don’t like how it turned out”. Well boohoo, they didn’t spend 5 years making this game for you to say it was **** If you spent 5 years on anything and the first thing people said about it was that it was bad, you wouldn’t wanna do it again would you? I like Naughtydog and the content they provide if you don’t, don’t say anything and find a different game to play. Good day. )… Expand

A história é bem construída e complexa, fazendo com que muitos não compreendessem o real sentido, gerando críticas superficiais e vazias. Ao meu ver, o jogo é perfeito como é.

    I loved the emotional aspects of this game! I also loved the graphics and the great use of them. At first I was angry with the choices in plot writing, but it came together wonderfully. Anyone **** clearly hasn’t actually played the game and is pissy Joel died and characters were gay.

This game has been bombed with negative reviews, simply for the character being a lesbian... it’s not some stupid f*cking agenda that the developer had, lesbians exist in the world whether you homophobic c*nts like it or not :)

So, I avoided the spoiler leak until I finished the game, but finally googled it to see what all the fuss was about. Reading what it was, I ended up laughing my a** off. To keep it vague and spoiler-free, the leak spoils a scene that happens very early in theI finished this game last night on Survivor difficulty at about 28hr. It is spectacular and deserves to be considered a Masterpiece. So, I avoided the spoiler leak until I finished the game, but finally googled it to see what all the fuss was about. Reading what it was, I ended up laughing my a** off. To keep it vague and spoiler-free, the leak spoils a scene that happens very early in the game, informs you that you will play as another character besides Ellie, makes a claim/prediction that DOES NOT happen, and exposes very lightly of the theme of the story. Cheers to all the people that hate a 11hr story in cutscenes because of a very early-game scene. It is fair to say if you hate it, it is simply because you did NOT play it.

    Anyway, rant over. Let us actually review the game. I do not want to include too many details because it is a wonderful experience and should not be spoiled. The story is amazing, and to be completely honest I felt more closure with The Last of Us now than I did 7 years ago. Just play the game and see for yourself.

    Now for the gameplay, it is perhaps the most realistic and immersive video game I ever played. It is as detailed and visually beautiful as RDR2 or perhaps even better. I believe it is a huge step-up from the first one. It definitely adds a lot more variety, just the ability to prone alone adds a whole new experience to the game with abilities to hide better, crawl in long grass, crawl under tight spaces, shooting/throwing on your side/back, etc. Some of the level-designs for encounters are perhaps some of the best stealth playgrounds I have seen to date. To avoid spoiling the surprise, I would vaguely explain them based on my experiences. In any given encounter, you choose how you want to approach the situation whether it is stealth or guns n blazing. The AI is pretty aware and intelligent (on survivor mode at least), and their patrols are not so straightforward. They even look around in a very realistic manor rather than an AI that never checks over their own shoulder. Going back to list some examples of the playground: you can prone in long grass, cause distractions by throwing bottles/bricks or shatter glass on vehicles/buildings, place trap mines to bait enemies on your trail, lure runners/clickers into humans, climb structures to get the higher ground, swim in water to stealth through, etc… you get the point. There are some areas you even can prone in shallow water, not many games especially FPS games contain such a feature, you literally get to swim in 1ft deep water. You can obviously use it to your advantage to sneak around even more. The purpose of this list is to demonstrate just how much of a variety each encounter delivers. I died a lot on Survivor mode, and let me tell you, many of my last checkpoints played out so differently because of all the factors this game has. Overall, one can argue that the stealth may not be as in-depth compared to franchises such as Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid, but it is definitely in the conversation.

    My favorite part of the game is easily the executions. I played 28+ hr and I still see new executions, you get a handful of different melee weapons, and can use them all in different actions to see other animations: sprinting and meleeing, sneaking and meleeing, dodging and meleeing, each one has a different animation-execution for each weapon…Bonkers! What also makes the game so fantastic is how beautiful it plays in its unscripted moments. TLoU2 perhaps has a few scripted areas, which are pretty intense. But the real beauty is during your encounters, watch any given clip on YouTube and you will be asking yourself if that sequence of actions were scripted or not. I cannot tell you how many times I was left in awe because of it.

    Story: 10/10 (Emotional, dark, heavy, story with a fantastic theme)

    Detail: 10/10 (I do not even know where to begin, blood tracking from your shoes after stepping in a puddle of blood, realistic character animations when navigating unscripted areas, you can even shine your flashlight in your companion’s face and they squint + look away. It is incredible detail)

    Level-Design/Environments: 10/10 (Exploring areas can take you 5-45 min depending how you choose to play, creative enemy encounters)

    Puzzles: 6/10 (Nothing challenging but some had me thinking for a few minutes, they do not compare to Uncharted/Tomb Raider/Zelda/etc puzzles. Mainly all revolve using a rope with some critical thinking)

    Audio: 10/10 (Amazing soundtrack, realistic atmospheric sounds)

    Replayability: 5/10 (Once you finish story mode on hardest difficulty and 100% there is nothing left to do for most players)

    It is a shame for all the hate Naughty Dog is receiving for this game. Please finish the whole game first to see the whole story, and then rate it. The game is broken up in flashbacks throughout, seeing 2hr out of a 20+ hr does nobody justice.    … Expand

    First, briefly: The game has its drawbacks in all directions, but the pros cover all the cons.

    Most importantly, do not listen to anyone, make your decision, as this game is played and looks completely different. Perfect different emotions.

    Before I sat down to play, I made myself set to just play and enjoy the gameplay and history, since we need games to show us the story and give us tools to make us feel like the main character.

    And this game coped with these tasks for the whole 100. I cried when Joel was killed, my heart was breaking over all the experiences of Ellie, but maybe Abby was shown very crumpled, but still you get used to it. The final caused me such a storm of emotions that I then departed for 3 hours from everything that they tried to convey to us. Yes, this is done directly on the forehead, but it works.

    But if you don’t take the place of the main characters, if you rested your horn (oh my God they killed Joel my favorite character and blah blah blah) and stop at least somehow thinking empathize then you can immediately delete the game this is not for you.

    Ah, if everything continues like this, then soon we will live in carbon copy games, where there will be nothing, no innovations, no stories that break the soul, nothing. only MOBA, royal battles, and lootboxes. And it will be the most disgusting world.    … Expand

    Eu zerei ele dia 21/06 e eu simplesmente não consigo expressar o sentimento que eu sinto,esse jogo mexeu comigo e muito,igual o primeiro,eu passei o dia inteiro pensando sobre o jogo eu literalmente não consegui focar em nada que fazia no meu cotidiano,e por incrível que pareça eu tive "flashback" de momentos do jogo como na parte onde mostra a Ellie na fazenda e ela surta com o barulho da pá lembrando do Joel eu me lembrei enquanto lavava a louça e a panela caiu da minha mão,realmente esse jogo junto com o primeiro é um dos melhores da minha vida
