    This game is an epic worthy of Homer! The story seamlessly goes from the most beautiful and heart-melting moments to the most harrowing and horrifying scenes only the environment of The Last of Us can present us with. Expect to scream, cry, laugh, rage, hope and change your thoughts about characters throughout this brilliant tale. Don't blindly sit on the hate train, this game deserves an Oscar!

The last of us 2 was such an amazing game the story was really good Neil Druckman said the game was about hate and revenge and he wasn’t lying, you’re just filled with hatred when you see Joel die but that’s Abby’s revenge for her father and Ellie is filled with anger and sadness for the murder of her father figure so she seeks out vengeance not letting anything get in her way trying to find and kill Abby, but Abby finds herself putting her life on the line for 2 former seraphites named Yara and Lev but also getting hunted down by her own faction the WLF, Yara dies leaving Lev without any other family and in Abby’s care and so then Lev is by Abby’s side wherever she goes and her protecting him as if he was family sounds familiar to tlou, but then she finds out all her friends are dead and it was mostly by the hands of Ellie and so they brawl out and having Abby escaping Ellie and leaving her broken and in the epilogue Ellie now has a family with J.J and Dina the baby is named after Joel and jesse, but Ellie still has ptsd and nightmares over Joels murder and one day A handicapped tommy comes and tells Ellie the whereabouts of Abby and Lev but Abby gets kidnapped while trying to look for the rest of the fireflies, and so Ellie looks for Abby and finds her broken and weak tied up to a pillar and forces her to fight by putting her knife to Lev’s throat and they fight it our once again and Ellie almost kills her by drowning her but ultimately gets a flashback of Joel and then Abby bites her 2 fingers off and she lets them go willingly knowing that she can be the better person so Abby leaves and most likely goes looking for the fireflies, and so Ellie goes home finding Dina and J.J gone and tries to play Joels song on the guitar but she’s unable to play with her fingers gone, the only thing that Joel can be remembered from but that’s also taken form her and so she leaves the guitar and walks away but the reason why Ellie was so filled with anger and vengeance is because she was starting to forgive Joel from not saving humanity but never got the chance to forgive him because the next day he was killed by Abby. I honestly say the story was amazing and I give big props to Neil Druckman and his team on this game… Expand

    The real problem of the game is the end, its no sense that Ellie fight with abby without guns and for this decision she loses 2 fingers, the fight is a copy of the final boss of uncharted 4 and the lost legacy where you only have to dodge and press square. I hope the make a DLC that explains what happen next : i want ti now where is dina, where abby goes and where is going Ellie.

Amazing game, amazing music and amazing visuals but has some issues in the story but not as bad as people make out. But, if you scratch under the surface of the story these issues become apparent, and some forced narrative is present. Compared to Last Of Us Part 1 its a 5 out of 10 but that was a hard act to follow no matter what, they did the best they could to make it unique but follow on.
    This is a really fun game (if you liked the first one) with a good story but one that is far over-shadowed by the first games story.
    I was gripped from moment one and was hooked until the end (even the second section which annoyed me at first grew on me), I was excited, annoyed, frustrated and happy. A game that can push such emotions on you is a good game and sometimes some of the questionable things characters do I think is done on purpose as they are meant to be humans with flaws that make mistakes and have internal thoughts we are no privy to.
    Just to put out there it feels more like playing a movie than the first with less player in-put but that is not a issue. I can see why this is not everyone's cup of tea.
    If you loved the first game you will enjoy this game even if its not as well written as the first. If you disliked or were unsure or just jumped on the hype train about the first you will leave this game feeling the same if not a little worse. Its not as bad as the salty reviews make out at very worse its a 6/10 at best pushing a 8.5/10. It has a good story and could of been a 9-9.5/10 if the pieces were placed in different orders(play it and you will understand what I mean. It could have worked a lot better, this is my main issue with the game.
    Note: Play on hard don't go in on easy or middle-ground this game is meant to be played on hard for best experience.    … Expand

The one that says that the final is bad, they don’t get the game, Ellie forgive her life because she understand that she act’s like joel did by her with the other boy and she could understand that the feelings that she were having the same when joel kills her father. Its the journey of ellie to grow up like a person and understand that the world is a **** where the revenge will be something normal… Expand

    I have seen the story, and I find it incredible, of course it is not the great wonder, but if the graphics are playable and most importantly its soundtrack that immerses you in the same adventure makes it an exel game

    By far the most impressive story telling in a video game. The game pushes the boundaries of having the player understand the consequences of violence in a much more realistic way.

    The story is good. It's not as good as the last game, but I enjoyed it. It's a tragedy. You're not supposed to feel satisfied about what the characters do or get. This game is designed to make you feel bad. If you don't like that, the this game is not for you.

    The puzzles have been expanded upon briefly. There are points where you have to enter specific combinations that you'll either find written down, or with scattered clues.

When I first started part two I knew I was in for one hell of an emotional rollercoaster ride, given the first one made me feel so much for the characters we grew to love. But I also went in with an open mind because we were playing from another protagonist's perspective, meaning we had to experience new hardships and thoughts. And I believe that naughty dog has done a very good job with this game, giving us the chance not only to look at the series of events from Ellie's point of view but as well as our antagonist Abby as well. The combat is very smooth in this game, every zombie attack feels real, every gunfight makes you nervous. The graphics were out of this world from the blood, sweat, and tears. To the environment, we encountered throughout the game. The small things in this game such as playing guitar or experiencing a flashback make you sympathize with the characters and long for simpler times. I'd rate this game a 9.5/10… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I spent 25 hours to finish the story and during I had mixed feelings. First the game get's you to hate that Abby woman from the depths of your soul and all of a sudden you have to play her story? I mean, what the hell, I don't wanna know her f***ing backstory I just wanna see the b***h bleed. So during the Abby part of the Story, which is the complete second half, I was constantly annoyed but hey, for the sake of the story I took it and continued. I have to say, I still hate her guts and wanna see her dead but in some ways I can understand her. She is on her own path of revenge, just like Ellie and I guess, that's what Naughty Dog's intentions were. To create an antagonist who is pretty similar to the protagonist but the way the story develops Abby is the bad and Ellie the good one. I'm disappointed that Ellie didn't finish her job in the end and practically lost everything. But not every game can have a happy end.
    On Ellie's part of the story I was super excited and it held up to it's promises. The movement of Ellie in comparison to Joel is better, the gameplay got a lot smother, I love the new skill tree, the fact, that Ellie has a knife made it way easier to move around infected and kill them where Abby on the other hand had to craft them. Totally legit, as a soldier to not have a knife on you, right *insert sarcasm here*
    I was impressed by the A.I. this time. Not the usual stupid moving patterns. The NPCs move like they're really on the look out, they turn their heads and realize when you're in their sight of view. It makes things way more tactic to move around them. But the infected are still pretty easy to trick and run around, even if they see you. You just circle around the room and use some throwables to kill them. Only the Rat King was really a challenge to defeat because of the dark and cramped environment of the hospital.
    The story itself blew me away. I had everything I expected...and more. So many emotions, especially when Joel died. I cried but on the other side I was so furious. I was driven by my own seeking for revenge.
    The graphics is really something. We don't need to discuss this, it's just mind blowing. During the game I made so many screenshots like in no other game ever. We have such a beautiful design and artwork in this game.

    Now for some other things people criticize. The violence being one part that's massively discussed about The Last of Us Part 2. Sure, there is a whole lot of violence but in a post apocalyptic world where monsters and men try to overpower each other and humans don't work together but also fight each other, there's a lot of space for violence. And with all the hatred and feeling of needed revenge it's not too much in my opinion.
    The relationship between Ellie and Dina. Why on earth are people complaining here? We live in 2020 and being gay is nothing to be ashamed of anymore. But still there are these homophobes who cry about every little thing between two people of the same gender. Grow up people!

    All in all I had a lot of fun, even with the Abby part of the story (still hate her though)    … Expand

The environments are well defined and the lighting is gorgeous. Let's get to the crucial part ... The story. I admit I was a little skeptical when a second chapter was announced, considering the last of us finished with part one. Starting to play it I changed my mind from the first minutes. Neil Druckman and Halley Gross were able to give us a following worthy of his name. A truly wonderful writing job. The game has been highly criticized even before its release, believing some facts of history wrong etc. I am referring to all those who say that history sucks. If things don't go the way we want it doesn't mean it's wrong or sucks. The last of us part 2 is an experience that must be absolutely lived. I would also like to congratulate Anthony Newman and Kurt Margenau for the direction of the game and to the whole Naughtydog team and family. Thanks go to the sound design department for all the incredible sound effects and finally to Gustavo Santaolalla for the incredible soundtrack and to Mac Quayle for all the other compositions. But when you play the game and see the narrative and how things play out, the game is amazing. It's disgusting how many people can hop on board a hate train without playing it for themselves. You think you look through a couple hours of gameplay and a spoiler with leaks and it makes it okay to rate something an entire 0 out of 10? The game had over 20+ hours of content. That's insane for a singleplayer game. Not only was it packed with content, it wasn't filled with something people are considering un-enjoyable. The issue here is people are reviewing a single character you really wanted to play as and it didn't happen. That doesn't make a game terrible. Is that so hard to understand? This game had everything that makes a game amazing. Good graphics and animations, no bugs, good characters, good story, and good content. Yeah I said good story. It was a good story. I played the game. It wasn't remotely equivalent to what some people are saying: "It's like GOT S8, or Star Wars" no it's not. Not at all. Game of Thrones had a fundamental issue. It developed characters through 8 seasons and threw out all of the character arcs. That didn't happen here. Characters did something bad and there were consequences. It didn't JUMP at us. Not to mention some of them are just plain homophobic. Gameplay is solid with some of the most enthralling sequences in recent memory. Yes, the game does make a questionable decision in terms of story structure, with about 8-10 hours from the perspective of Abby, the main antagonist. It seems like the game wants you to care for her, but I never really did and found myself just wanted to play as Ellie again. Still, her section of the game is filled with some of the more memorable moments. I just wish I could live those with Ellie and not some random character I already hate 2 hours into the game.… Expand

    The game play is extremely solid, with multiple pathes to reach your goal, the story is paced very well and goes above and beyond what I expected while playing it. I felt like towards the end it became harder to stealth around, however, I can also see why considering the stories developments. A great successor to The Last of Us.    … Expand

    Story-wise, I've heard a lot of criticism, but I have to be honest: this is a game that stands for realism. It is not a fairytale, this is a gruesome post apocalyptical world. People die, at random moments, all the time. I've often hated how you already know from the beginning which character is going to die because of the way he's profiled and positioned when introduced. This is a game that surprises you, it's pessimistic, it's sad, it's real: I love it. Haters will hate because they hate change, because they're conservative, because they want to feel good. But go play a Nintendo game then. In every sense of the word, this is a masterpiece.

When I play it it's totally good game and it has decent story.You all talking about that story right? F it . But I feel in people who love Joel are hate ending that I can forgive.     Just finished my first play through, and all I can say is WOW, this game is massive. The scenery, movement, combat style,& the storyline are executed beautifully. This game had me feeling extremely conflicted, I was able to put myself in the characters shoes and wonder what I would do. The attention to detail is amazing and graphics are out of this world and not to forget that it was done for 7 year old PS4. Game of the year for sure. One of the key things that keeps making it worth revisiting is the characters and the way they interact with one another. Joel and Ellie are written in a way that feels so true and natural, and that goes for the rest of the characters too.
    This quality carries over perfectly into Part II. This game presents a story that's much darker than what was served up in the first game. Even though Part I was certainly dark, the core theme of the game's story was that of finding hope in a world that feels lost. The themes of Part II are much heavier, dealing with the cyclical nature of violence, the futility of revenge, and losing yourself to hatred. But much like the first game, it's all carried by the excellent character work.
    As the game takes Ellie down an increasingly darker path, she's still given little personal moments with her loved ones that serve to flesh out the humanity in the characters. These interactions feel just as natural and charming they did in Part I. The story plays out in a pretty surprising way, which I won't spoil, where it forces you to consider the humanity of the people that you're killing. It's less so a revenge story as much as it is a story about turning into the very monster you've sought to destroy.
    There are two caveats to the story telling that stuck out to me though. One is that it gets a bit overindulgent with time jumps and flashbacks, which kind of trips up the pacing and the flow of continuity a little bit. The other is that it does drag a bit at times. There are a few parts where I was wondering how relevant what I was seeing is to the overall story. But even through those parts I wasn't too bothered, because the characters are still interesting to follow and I was busy enjoying the gameplay. Which brings me to...

    The gameplay is just as solid as it was in the previous game, with some extra polishes and tweaks added on top. Encounters with infected people remain nerve-racking, the scarcity of supplies keeps the tension high, fights against human enemies feel even more brutal than in the first game and most importantly, you get to play fetch with a dog.
    Exploring the remains of human civilization, catching glimpses of the lives of people who came before is still a great and, at times, harrowing experience.
    If you played Part I and enjoyed the gameplay, then Part II totally delivers.

    The graphics are top notch. Just stellar. I don't know what else to say on the subject. Try turning the camera around to Ellie's face from time to time just to see how much care was put into her contextual facial expressions. She'll smirk or frown or display whatever relevant emotion she may be feeling during incidental conversations during gameplay. You could play the whole game just staring at her back and never see this. There are so many little details like this in the animations, scenery and environmental storytelling that take this game to the next level. The devs didn't need to do any of that. But they did. Because they love you and this game is how they show it.

    The Last of Us Part II feels like a worthy, but challenging, successor to a classic. This could've been an easy retread that doesn't take any chances. It could've just put Ellie and Joel on another journey across the country, filled with hero moments and easy to process "kill the bad people" scenarios. But instead it goes for a more nuanced and difficult to digest story that makes you think about the characters and their morality.

    Oh, also the game has like gay people and women in it or something (wow, just like real life!) If you find that difficult to deal with then I guess you're not ready for this game yet. Give it time. We all grow up eventually.    … Expand

However I believe most of the bad is counter balanced by the good. In the sequel theyve fixed many grievances making the gameplay and combat feel smoother and less clunky in comparison to its predecessor with a new range of weapons and items to make combat scenarios feel fresh. The story doesnt live up to the expectations the original but i dont think its as bad as people are making it out to be. I believed the final boss and gameplay segment before it was drawn out and un necessary. However i believe that the epilogue was extremely powerful and was probably one of my favourite ending of all time. I believe this game was worth it in my opinion but its very divisive and i think youd have to judge it yourself… Expand

Wait for the new hardware to come out and possibly, most likely last of us part 3. This game shows the dynamic of the franchise and how it can immerse you in the world and relate. This is a world of dead. An apocalypse. The world has ended and there is people who survive and people who die simple. Not every death will be deserved or the best way to die it’s an apocalypse. That is the point of story telling. You have good and bad moments. Will it be sad at Times yes. When Joel dies yes it was sad and it hurts but not everything will be roses. Not everyone will just die on a death bed. The game is meant to be like that it’s called great story telling. Different story telling it’s not like your typical game that sticks with the same characters for 5 or so games. Then if that was case you same people would complain how it’s josh Joel and Ellie and not anyone new. They took the shocking approach. Ellie is still alive. Yes Joel dies but he had a great legacy and will forever be remembered. Abby is still alive which can spark up stuff for a third game. We have new characters that they can build off of and make you love them as well. I know people want more backstory playtime with Abby to get invested. Maybe that comes in another game. I’m fine with what I got because most people just wanna know why and they tell you why and yes if someone dad dies it’s enough to want to kill someone. Plain and simple. I think some people just saw cut scenes heard spoilers and said forget the game without playing through it and getting that experience as too why. It’s a great game with a great story again. Just have to learn how to get over stuff it’s a game. Also if you are leaving a bad review or rating because Ellie is lesbian then figure your life out. That is not a reason to hate a game get over yourself and be a adult. Otherwise the game is great I still think first one is better but this game is great.     I just played through the game and was thrilled in every way until i saw the reviews of it here on Metacritic! I was shocked at how many people rated this game so badly, and this shortly after the release. It is simply impossible to play through the game at this time, which made me wonder what the basis of most reviews is.

    First we come to the gameplay and graphics:

    -The graphics are absolutely mindblowing, for a title that is still on the
    old generation consoles, it looks really beautiful.

    -the gameplay is not as many say monotonous and boring. Because in my opinion it's one of the best there is. It may be sluggish, but whether or not someone likes it depends on their opinion of such realistic gameplay. I myself find the realism and the feeling of always being vulnerable sensational!

    Now to the most criticized part: THE STORY

    The story may not be everybody's cup of tea but it's not bad in any way. Because Naughty Dog does something no one has ever done before, it questions your own decisions and makes you look at Ellie and Joel's story from a different angle. It shows the consequences based on our decisions in the first part, which when you think about it were devastating. Keyword: the last mission in the hospital! I couldn't put the controller away while I was playing through. The game simply tied me away.

    ATTENTION SPOILER:

    Many criticize the decision of joel's death, which I believe was well founded at the end of the game and not too bad. Just because the main character of the old game dies doesn't mean that the new main protagonist is worse. Ellie plays herself great and is still one of the most interesting characters there is.

    Now for the conclusion:
    The game has captivated me like no other game! It made me think and made me fear it. This is the first game in which I question my own actions, and I am shown that there are always two sides of a story and not everything you do can be justified. And the difference between what someone's willing to do till they are satisfied. They way the story is set, I do disagree. I believe if they split up abby's moments before we saw her as Joel's murder, it would have been much better. But that's not the case. But it doesn't change the fact it was a good game from gameplay and effort. And maybe they left the end open for a 3ed. I think, this shows how it's not just about surviving in this new harsh world, but that the people get to live in it and they have feelings, do moral and unmoral choices on their way through life and you get all the backstory, how Ellie grows up from teenager to adult, that the lies will surface, that some decision cost you more than you bargained for. I think it's wonderful, that we get to discover worlds of WLF and Scars, but also simple things like feelings for other and how complicated they are.… Expand

Music and sound design are top notch! Character design is outstanding and facial animation and movement is better than I have ever seen before. Also the acting and dialog are best I have ever seen in a video game.

    The gameplay loop also feels great to me. It feels much the same as part 1, which I also loved to play.
    It is a bit more streamlined and varied. It is also one of the very few games in which I found that the story fragments and collectibles were actually worth searching for. If you didn't like the first game though, you probably won't like this one either.

    The story is like the first game very powerful and emotional and all about love, hate, despair, revenge and enjoying the small things in live. People are not nice in this hard world, and no-one is really good. You mostly see the ugly parts of people that want to survive and want revenge when they are wronged. The story of the first game is better, as this one is missing the driving force of the first game about 'saving humanity'. It is more about (pointless) revenge, and human fallibility. Even so, I felt very invested in the story.

    I have a few small annoyances. I didn't like the shamblers and stalker infected enemy's. They were annoying and hard to kill, even though they are still defeatable. Luckily these encounters are not too frequent. I also thought finding materials was unbalanced. I didn't have enough tape for long stretches, and quite often didn't find a melee weapon. Other materials are much more in over abundance and not needed that much.

    Bottom line is that I love this game. It made me feel most human emotions strongly at some point. The game feels very exciting and tense at moments, and my heart was pounding at many times. I don't think it is perfect, but it is not far from it.    … Expand

    Yes Joel dies in the first few hours and yes you play as Abbey, the girl that killed him but there is a VERY good reason for that. By the end and the big Ellie/Abbey confrontation you seriously don’t know who you want to win. I grew to like Abbey and was really hoping that Ellie didn’t kill her, she was only seeking revenge for her dads murder and left Ellie alive, but Ellie carved her way through half of Seattle looking for her revenge.

    Ragazzi, personalmente ho trovato il lavoro svolto dai ragazzi di Naughty Dog una ottima riuscita! Chi vota 0 o 3 non meriterebbe neanche di avere una playstation. Il problema grosso di queste persone è che prendendola troppo sul personale sentendosi feriti dentro, sfogano la loro rabbia repressa su voti che il gioco non merita.

It's not surprising the game is so polarising, because it's not supposed to be an easy thing to stomach. Brutal and compelling story aside, it's the best looking and sounding game this generation.     Such a emotional ride through part II. It's a sad, rage, unendurable story. And it pitches a far more chaotic, cruel world experience than part I. I hate that what Characters have to suffer, and i reminds me of my friend who committed suicide... Still, it is a strong game to bring me such a strong feeling. Good or not, you should experience yourself.

    I cant understand how can give this game a 0/10 Naughty dog did everything better if its about gameplay, worldbullding and graphics. With the characters they tried something new and bold. Every decision these characters made have weight and meaning for them even if u might not understand it. Dont tell me u never did stupid decisions in your life even under easier circumstances

    I've finished the Game completely and it was great experience. Best PS 4 game so far. On the same level with GoW, but in GoW locations were much smaller and fights much more repetitive. Here you have more possibilities during fight and it's up to you will you use them or not.     Yes, I can understand why you can be disappointed after final. From my point of view is 10/10 no questions, but for someone it could be lower.
    But it's not 3.9 by any chance. Metacritic should do something with reviews from users who never played. Let's add playstation account auth. Relevant for all the platforms. Steam, Microsoft store and cetera also have Oath Api.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
