Nobody is talking about the mechanics, the animations, the tone, the music, the locations, the graphics, the gameplay. Everybody is focused on the story. So the game is perfect in a game-wise sense and the story has gotten so many people affected they can't shut up or agree about it.

    That in itself is a feat worthy of praise. I am too a bit disappointing Ellie had to share the spotlight, personally I'd rather see a focus on her and Dina's story, but I can see what Naughty Dog tried to do, and their intentions are magnificent. Playing the game like a candle burning at both ends is a narrative experiment I really like, even though it hampers the pacing a bit. Having both main characters fight each other fit the story, but it was really frustrating as the player because I didn't want to do it. I didn't want to, just like the characters are conflicted about the whole ordeal. That's genius.

    Overall, gameplay, music, voice, acting, tone, setting, graphics (those locations man, oh my god). All of it is STELLAR. The experimental choices made are divisive, but I for one am grateful a AAA Studio like Naughty Dog dares to shake things up.

    See, the first game had zero expectations and hit huge. It had all the freedom to do whatever it did without anyone knowing what to expect. All these years later, people claim fierce ownership of these characters and no matter what they did, some people would turn out to be disappointing anyway.

    Brilliant game. Graphics, animations, story, setpieces, voice acting, sound, music, performance capture and combat are all top notch. The only ones that disagree are incels triggered by the existence of gay people and people who didn't understand the story of the first game and were expecting a cliche buddy adventure with a happy ending for everyone and no consequences.

    I just finished the last of us part 2 and wow I really almost cried with the end it is so full of feelings maybe people did not like the end and it is not the one we want but I sincerely loved it since it gives a message that only one can understand in his own way one of the best games of the year and without a doubt my favorite of all the ones ND made

    I love the game. Beautiful graphics and you can feel the emotion in every scene, even when the characters are not talking. The music also adds a lot to the atmosphere. Sad about the dogs, but otherwise an awesome game.

    Although I can understand the controversy regarding some major plot points, I believe each person must play the game before establishing an opinion. As well, you should stay open minded to try an understand the actions of some characters, imagine yourself in their place, what would you do? It’s hard so understand characters you want to hate, but that’s what, in my opinion, is beautiful about this game.     I cannot say if the Last of Us part II is better or worse than its predecesor, simply because it is a sincere original dark story about loss, guilt, redemption and consequences of ones action. This game is a must to play and I am grateful to NaughtyDog that they made this sequel. It made me think about a lot of things.

    The game has a story that will move anyone. What a fantastic journey... finished it in about 29 hours and has lots more to do.

    The graphics are out of this world. It’s already a Next Generation title. Astonishing!

    I have genuinely enjoyed this game! I stayed away from the leaks online when they happened so I could experience the story from the game. I haven't beaten it yet, but each time I start playing I can't put the controller down. Beautiful visuals, amazing game mechanics, heart-wrenching story, and fighting sequences that are incredibly intense! I highly recommend. I think most of the userI have genuinely enjoyed this game!     I understand why people are pissed with the choices the writers made with this game. I loved the first game and its characters as much as everyone and knew it was a game that was going to stick with me for a long time, if not for life. But I get why Naughty Dog went the direction they did with this game. In my opinion, the story of TLOU2 perfectly captures the tragedy and brutality of theI understand why people are pissed with the choices the writers made with this game. I loved the first game and its characters as much as everyone and knew it was a game that was going to stick with me for a long time, if not for life. But I get why Naughty Dog went the direction they did with this game. In my opinion, the story of TLOU2 perfectly captures the tragedy and brutality of the post-apocalypse world they created. That there are repercussions for the decisions made in the first game and this game. Not many games (besides Telltale games) do that, show the perspectives of those who are hurt by the main character’s actions. Many people will disagree, but I kind of respect Naughty Dog for making these major story decisions and they probably knew it piss off the fanbase of this franchise. I’m not saying that the story is perfect, there is definitely that “political correctedness” that other people despise, I don’t mind some of it but there is a little bit too much here and it threw me off in terms of “jeez, okay we are in pretentious territory here”. Also, some characters make really weird decisions that can be out of character and don’t make sense disregarding the build-up of some tragic events. I can say that this game can get depressing and there is so many emotional moments with joyful moments so far few in between. Which might turn some people off. Despite these downfalls, this story was great enough to keep me going and keep me immersed. Again, like the first, it is a story that will stick with me. I think people should give this game’s story a chance.

    I had bit of a long section for the story part of the game because it is narrative-driven, but I should also speak about the gameplay and graphics. Combat and stealth sections are tension-filled and can be really challenging, which I appreciate. Naughty Dog improved in terms of adding realism to the combat sequences as you can get knocked down or flinch when you get shot, completely throwing your aim off. I played on the regular difficulty and I got my ass kicked a lot. Enemy human AI is pretty smart and will try to flank you, especially dudes with melee weapons. Moreover, the infected sections are still creepy and tense as always with some new enemy types to keep it challenging. I plan to play on the hardest difficulty to make resources scarcer, as I felt on the regular difficulty resources was never really that scarce despite what gameplay videos have said. They even added a feature where you make your own custom difficulty which is pretty cool.

    Lastly, the graphics are amazing, as expected of recent Naughty Dog titles, so good that your PS4 will sound like a motorcycle (IDK if that’s a good thing). The facial animations are on point in combat and in cutscenes, in particular the combat, the facial animations add so much realism if you can pay attention and adding to the brutality of it. The post-apocalyptic scenery can be really beautiful in most parts of the game.

    Thank you to those who read this whole review, I know it’s long, but I really wanted to get all of my honest opinion out on this game. I do understand all the negative reviews and why people can’t stomach the story. But if you’re looking to buy the game but are a bit sceptical, I’d say give it a shot. I really think its important to understand the context of the story decisions Naughty Dog has made in TLOU2.    … Expand

And as much as people dislike the story, I loved it. I will miss Joel, but I knew it was coming. Graphics are simply astonishing as well as the animations. It’s tense, nerve racking and heart breaking, I love it. I take my hat off to Neil Druckmann, Ashley Johnson, Troy baker, and the whole naughty dog team for this unexpected heartbreaking story, simply incredible. I really do appreciate all the sweat, blood, and tears they put into this game. It is one of the best games I’ve ever played, and people will talk about it forever.… Expand

    Nice job as always, Naughty Dog. Amazing Game. High end graphics, just like the first title. Killer story! Anyone who says opposite, is obviously not ready to deal with an outstanding storyline who puts everything in perspective.

    The Last of Us Part 2 is an absolute masterpiece worthy of its predecessor! Do not go by the fake reviews and play it for yourself before you judge it. Naughty dog couldve gone with a similar strategy with the first part and played safe but they took the risk and such new attempts must be appreciated and encouraged.

    They keep referencing the first game but dont seem to remember absolutely anything from it. Joel and Ellie have more than just a farther and dauther relationship. They've saved each other's lives countless times.
    You are mad at Joel's death. Ellie hates Abby. You are supposed to hate Abby.
    This is not a happy sunshine trip down to Lala-land. It's bloodthirsty vengence crusade. There are no villains here, no hero's. Only one's justice.
    Take PewDiePie for example, the game opens where the first one ended and he acts surprised barely remembering the ending, whenever gay Ellie stuff comes up he goes "ew" and turns away.
    Gay Ellie was established in TLOU and Left behind, it's nothing new but now its beeing called SJW trash and political.
    I've yet to see this 'political' stuff everyone talks about. Then Mr. Pie goes on to just completely ignore the story and talks over everything while just trying to whore over the graphics.
    No one could enjoy the story this way.
    If this is the average player base it's no wonder its receiving such negative reviews.

From many other negative reviews I can clearly tell that our world is stuck up - apparently even the gamer community or those trying to politicise it with their reviews, trying to shut down developers that dare to try and depict the virtual humanity as it is and not as singular as those upholding obsolete worldviews nowadays would enjoy them to do.

    I get it: Women loving women (and not men as they are supposed to in your little world) is hard to take if you kinda despise women because none ever touched you.. Having saved little Ellie from zombies only to have her grow up a lesbian surely frustrates all those idiots that were likely even already drooling over her as a minor in part 1. sure, the game has its plot twists that are shocking and need some getting used to.. it is differwnt, felt just like playing uncharted 4.5 with different protagonists..

    but those who claim even mechanics are bad and no upgrade to the first game.. they are simply wrong.. it is easy to recognize the gameplay and mechanics from last of us.. just they were refined here and everyrhing goes really smoothly.. awesome gameplay.. no npcs getting stuck etc. i havent seen any bugs either.. (ea, maybe you should hire naughty dog to consult you on this haha..)

    graphics are mindblowing and story telling is too in my eyes. unless you hate the world and lesbians and a male strong alpha type protagonist being switched for a female. sjw stuff works for me too. i always connected with ellie and thus i wanna avenge and destroy and hated almost just as much as she did.

    Anything that infuriates incels and homophobes this much deserves a 10. I can't wait until it wins GOTY and their heads explode.

    With that being said, it's an absolute masterpiece. It'll be years into the next gen until we see another game on this level.

Simple things like prone, having enemy groups attack each other (also in Left Behind DLC), new gadgets have been added that gives the player more control. In TLOU I found myself sneaking around on survivor/grounded but in this game the AI is so much more difficult. They'll change their patrols if they spot you, they're more aware of each other, dogs have been added, the infected are tougher to get past. There were many times where I'd find myself in a 5-15 minute stretch to sneaking, getting spotted, taking one out, running away, hiding from new patrol, catching a straggler and running back into the tall grass.

    Visuals: Nothing to say here, ND has once again outdone themselves. The small animations, the cut scenes, the acting are all top notch. Just play it to find out.

    Audio: The screams. The screams of leading a clicker group into your WLF/Scar group, running away and hearing them get torn into pieces linger in my mind. The audio cues of enemy combatants yelling out for their dead dog or friend all just adds to the immersion. That familiar acoustic twang resonates here and provides a great backdrop for the music. Plus, there are some fantastic song covers and musical experiences I'll leave you guys to discover.

    Story: This is where the divisiveness is. It was a tough story to swallow I'll admit, but I've learned to accept and love it.

    SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS!

    Unfortunately, many people are stuck on how Joel is presented in this game and what happens to him. Joel knew he had done enough atrocities and throughout TLOU 2 Ellie even comments on how she knew vaguely that Joel had done these things. Joel made a choice at the end of TLOU and he sticks with it. Whether or not we as the audience supported that choice meant nothing to the fact that Joel had to face the consequences. Despite that, his death led to Ellie and I's need for revenge.

    After seeing Joel die I wanted to kill every WLF until I could meet Abby and kill her too. I was done slinking around and being stealthy. I made sure every area was rid of the WLF thoroughly. When the switch happened I felt a gut punch and when I realized that I'd be playing with Abby for a while I didn't know how to feel. It felt like it dragged on, but somewhere along that journey I got to understand Abby and her life more. She had lost her dad, her group and in some ways meaning for life. She had a close friend group and their interactions showed they weren't black and white. By the time it came to confront Abby I realized that my feelings as to who was good or bad was unclear.

    It seems some people wanted a superhero ending or black and white story and that's not what they got. The characters in this game are human and their decisions and personality developed overtime. People didn't die the "right way" and people didn't get punished the "right way." Perhaps this felt too real to people and it's easier to label this as a "plot hole" or "bad writing."

    The first game forced us into an uneasy feeling at the end. Part II forced us through an entire game of uneasiness and for some that was too much to handle. For me it captured just how bleak and brutal the game's world is. It reinforced and portrayed the themes of love, forgiveness and revenge beautifully. Fun is subjective along with good and bad, but I can thoroughly say that I found this fun and memorable and hope others do too.    … Expand

    Very challenging, heart-breaking, and gut-wrenching story coupled with viscera, desperate and brutal gameplay. It continues the story of Part I with honesty and sincerity. This game is very bleak and will often make you feel miserable, but there is a bright spot at the endd.

    I feel like the game was still a worthy title to its predecessor. I found it fun and enjoyable. They took risks and some paided off. Others didn't. Still a great title.

    It's great on so many levels, graphics, gameplay, sound, art, lighting are all 10 (and I think no one would say otherwise, maybe regarding gameplay).
    Then comes the story, I understand people are upset. But it's not a bad written story, or a bad story at all. They took a route alot of people (presumably) didn't want. But it's still an epic story about love, revenge and forgiveness.

I loved the story as well as gameplay and level design, the new character Abby i also adored so damn much, she is very epic and i really got connected with her that by the end of the game i was speechless and she takes a big part in the games universe. In the end im trying to keep this review as spoiler free as possible and i highly recommend this game with a 10/10 and it really takes the cake of being one of my favorite game of all time and it is on my top 5 personal list of all time! I cant wait to see with what naughty dog brings next to the table.
