Imagine criticizing a video game just because you feel like it, I only read reviews from people who after 10 minutes of playing gives a 0 for who knows what reason. People have no idea what's behind the development of a video game, and giving zero to such a game is proof of that. Let's start from the technical side of the game: simply flawless, very high quality gameplay, attention to detail never seen before in a video game, all to create a unique gaming experience. I see people complaining about the plot, it may not be at the level of the first title, for various reasons, such as the fact that it is no longer a novelty (often the sequel has a slightly flatter plot) or the fact that Naughty Dog has tried to insert a new main character, but seeing people complaining that there are holes in the plot or that it is all about revenge and that the actions of the characters do not make sense, is equivalent to not understanding the topics covered by this title, nor have any idea how human beings think; because coincidentally behind these works there are studies by industry experts. The main theme is certainly revenge, but the evolution of the plot and the behavior of the charcaters contains a set of emotions that go far beyond simple revenge. The game is impeccable, whether you like it or not, but the quality of the product is undeniable, and i loved the gameplay and the story too, because you know what? that's exaclty how people would behave in such situation. A solid 10 for this masterpiece, Naughty Dog never misses a shot.
    PS: Oh yeah maybe people doesen't know that TLOU is the story of Ellie and not of Joel.    … Expand

    Incredible graphics, incredible story. Had a profound effect on me just like the first game did. Ignore the trolls giving this game 0, they're triggered by the thought of being even a step outside their comfort zone. 10/10

    Everybody has a point of view and Naughty Dog does a masterful job of reminding us of that here, allowing us empathy for two characters who both view themselves as the good guy yet both are very much flawed.     Great game i avoided spoilers been playing for days. Truly gets me on edge sometimes.

    Captivating world, honestly beautiful. Tho some parts are literally terrifying. This gives the game an amazing experience. The issue with the game i wont really say its not story based pr gameplay really but more cosmetic. And thats because of my personal taste for certain things

    If you like RR Martin kind of twist this will be SO satisfying. The atmosphere is dark and brutal, always keeping you on the edge. The story is well crafted and executed masterful although the end is a bit ehhhh...The gameplay is just brilliant built on the principle of "if it's not broke, don't fix it" with enough new things to refresh it. The storytelling is unparalleled, and it makes the original game so much better. But tlou2 is an amazing game with an amazing story and fun engaging gameplay and some seriously tense moments that are honestly some of the best moments in either game. If your issue lies in the fact that there are LGBTQ+I’m sorry but to anyone who actually bombed this games reviews, you’re absolutely wrong. The game is amazing, it’s not the same as the first, don’t get me wrong.     I can see where some people have problems with it, but I honestly don’t consider them problems. The game has the intended effect of making you feel uncomfortable. I found the story quite compelling, and the gameplay and graphics were amazing.

    The story isn't as good or original as the first, but the gameplay is way better. I paid full price for this at launch and don't regret it. Ran me about 28 hours for my first playthrough.

    Good game. It's better than the first Last of Us. It's even better than Kingdom Hearts 3. This game is long and has LOTS of details like Red Dead Redemption 2, Skyrim, and 2018's God of War combined. It's an awesome game.

To be able to elevate this from TLOU and continue this journey with realistic story telling like this is an achievement all in its self. Everything, so far, is the video gaming adventure I was hoping for and this exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds. Let me add it is rated "Mature" and only "mature"Playing this game is an experience like no other! The story is harsh, but real. Flipping the protagonist and antagonist theme on it's head and providing an unrivalled experience of the consequence of ones actions. Dark, harrowing and extremely beautiful. A terrific piece of work and story. The story is a mix of happiness and then sadness - a beautiful roller coaster ride that explores human emotion - and delves deep into the cycle of hatred and consequence.

    I have been up for one sitting and completed it. It is truly incredible. Yes, some of the story elements can be disappointing, but this does not make it a bad game in any context. Please do not listen to the review bombers, who have been waiting for the Metacritic user review section to open to purely review bomb the game when the majority of them have not even played it.

    To rate the game 0, but give it a 10 for graphics and 7 for gameplay makes absolute no sense whoever that silly user was. Clearly the game is being targeted due to the high profile and anti-fans will stop at nothing to ruin it. It is a shame but I suggest Metacritic take these reviews down as it is clearly not true.

    Now to actually delve into the review: No spoilers:

    Graphics: a solid 10 - these are some of the best visuals on PS4 and one of the best art directions I have ever seen. The material work is just absolutely spectacular... the level of detail present really brings you into the world. I will also mention animation here to save reading time - animation is by far the best I have ever seen utilising what seems to be motion capture animation frames for every single animation in game.

    Gameplay - 10 - Retains the incredible tense gameplay of the TLOU and expands on it with more verticality and more agility. Enemy AI is perhaps the best I have witnessed in a video game. They will communicate with one another to pinpoint you location so it seems, and they get slightly suspicious when members go missing (by missing I mean strangled) - I tend to go non-lethal wherever possible and yes at sometimes in the game it will force a violent approach on you, which is not a problem but can at times distract from the open-choice the rest of the game has (in a linear way of course). Otherwise this little nit pick is not a deviation from a 10/10 on gameplay side as this is the game. If I could rate out of 100, gameplay would be 96, as such it would be very unfair to give it 90.

    Story - 9/10 (92/100): The story is very good do not let those who want to ruin the game do exactly that for you. Whilst not your conventional bitter sweet and dark themed sequel.... It is brilliant...in a very dark and bitter way.. but there is happiness to be found and I think the theme of the game is consequence of actions taken. Every action has a consequence and this is what happens in the game... at least in a story driven way. It flips the antagonist and protagonist experience on it's head and delivers a very dark formula, but a beautiful one.

    Overall - taking average of all scores is 96/100 and hence giving this game a 9/10 would be unfair.

    To put this is perspective, TLOU was awarded a 95/100 from myself and hence was given a 10, as 9 seemed unfair.

    I implore that Metacritic finds a way to certify you have played the game. As this game is clearly targeted for not letting fans write the story and including a homosexual lead character. So called fans are unhappy because they were too focused on what they want from the story not from what the story is and the journey it explores. It is a story after all, not your story,, Ellies and you need to pick it apart for what it is and not what you wanted the plot points to be. To all of you are review bombing this game simply because you don't agree with homosexuality or the plot points you need to reconsider that it does not make it a terrible game. I found the experience great.

    I'm not sure if people can't handle a beloved character dying or they never played the first DLC so are homophobically shocked for all the bad reviews flying around. I think this sequel is just as good as the first one, the motion capture acting is even better too. The couple of extra mechanics added are a nice touch without being too drastic of a change from the first.

    This game is a masterpiece. Beautiful music, audio design, performances, writing, and atmosphere. This is easily one of the best games ever made. Lives up to and surpasses the original.

    As you can see this game is the latest victim of review bombing. People mad that women and gay people exist, and mad that they didn't get a predictable formulaic sequel.

The first 4 hours without stopping everything was fine. All the myths about the PlayStation noise have been confirmed, but it is overlaid by the sound from the TV. But the voice acting and soundtrack do not even allow you to remember this. Great story, graphics and interface. As for the promotion of homosexuality, it's even interesting to watch. Nowhere else in the games I've played has it been like this. And Dina has a very nice voice. In General the game is great… Expand

    This game changed my life. I understand some people only want to play Fortnite, that's fine, but this game is the future of gaming. Character development is quite usual actually. It's nice to play a new game, if I wanted the old one, I would just play it again. Which I do. Some fans just want the same thing over and over again.
