Like the apocalypse itself, The Last Kids on Earth and the Staff of Doom is rather messy, and not everything works like it should. It doesn’t quite do the series justice, but there are glimmers of a fun game here. Just be prepared for some glitches, and a lot of repetitive missions. Still, for kids who are fans of the Netflix show, the use of the actual voice cast for the main characters adds some worthy authenticity.

Outright Games has evolved into some kind of an expert when it comes to licensed, kids games. This is apparent in The Last Kids on Earth and the Staff of Doom, a decent dungeon crawler, suitable for all the family, that has its share of shortcomings of course, but is fun nonetheless.

The Last Kids on Earth and the Staff of Doom
    Its alright
The Last Kid on Earth and the staff of doom is a top down beatem up game that can be played with up to 4 players locally, you have two ranged characters and two close combat hack and slash characters..
I personally found ranged to be worthless as these zombies pile up on you, but hey.. play how you want..
I played through this entire 2 and a half hours hack and slashing my way through zombies as I go after the staff of doom… though you are able to freely change charcters at any time..
Combat wise, this game is actually pretty fun.. combat feels great, enemies aren’t soo spongey.. each hcarcter has a support attack, and there are chests for you to find full of cash to upgrade your gear as well as bue prints to make new gear… and while I appreciate the rpg aspects of gear finding… in the end it all kind of falls apart.. upgrading any weapon gives you all the same stats.. the only difference between weapons or armour are their bonus perk.. but fully upgraded its all the same, which is disappointing..
but basically youll be going through this worl, beating up zombies, throwing switches, taking on bosses, rinse repeat… its super repetive but it never feels as such.. but maybe that’s because of how short of a game this is.. again only taking me 2 and a half hours to get through…
Youll have a decent time playing through this with friends, and im sure the side quests will add even another hour or 2 to play time.. but this isn’t a game that will knock you off of your feet..
its an enjoyable play, but definitely wait for a deep deep sale..
Outright games is known for its shovel ware, but this is one of their better games that does feel stitched together as audio wont match up with subtitles, the game will load before a charcter is done talking in a ctuscene.. but you can feel the actual effort here.
I give The Last Kids on Earth and the Staff of Doom
    a 5.5/10
