I'm a SWERY fan and I feel like "The Good Life" is one of the most fun games he has made. It's an addicting action-adventure game with life-sim elements with engaging story and a lot of charm and soul. Even though the gameplay is quite simple and straightforward, there's a lot to do and see and simply put, I cannot put it down. This game is trash. Whenever I go on xbox and see this abhorrent woman's smug grin I just want to destroy my TV. Shame on whoever created this terrible excuse of a game. Trash gameplay, trash dialogue, trash art, trash everything.

(UPDATE patch 1.08 : The annoying flickering issue seems to be definitively gone, and the game now runs at 60 fps, which is amazing! Thank you!)

The Good Life is a nice SWERY game that is an adventure game in a living open English town (a little bit like Deadly Premonition, without the scary parts), mixed with some life sim mechanics, and amazing features like the possibility to turn

It is really nice and quite relaxing, BUT you should avoid to play it on PS5 for the moment. PS4 version running with backward compatibility on PS5 suffers from a visual glitch that makes some elements (houses, trees, etc.) flickers.

It is of course annoying, but it is mostly dangerous for people with Epilepsy. I really hope this will be fixed with a patch ASAP. This issue does not seems to affect other platforms, including PS4.

Like any other game by Hidetaka Suehiro, The Good Life is a unique experience with simple yet engaging gameplay and solid story telling, offering a few hours of pure meditation.

If you love unorthodox Japanese games, you should probably try The Good Life, especially given its low price point. Just be aware that's plenty of shortcoming here.

Plenty of players will likely bounce off, but for those who find the right time to stop and smell the flowers, The Good Life is a more than worthwhile diversion.
