Another example of DLC which has been potentially edited out of the original game. The Evil Within was convoluted garbage which relied on excessive gore instead of narrative and gameplay. Kidman's DLC tries to help explain the (ridiculous) goings on at the asylum. Those who loved the mechanics of the original title may not appreciate the big changes in this DLC. Conversely, those who are looking for a stealth and extremely more tense experience than the adventure of Castellanos, will find this new adventure amazing.

There's nothing horribly wrong with The Assignment, but the instant death rules that I disliked about The Evil Within continue to plague the DLC, making Kidman's story one of frustration and retries.

While it only lasted a handful of hours, The Assignment ended up being a refreshing counterpart to The Evil Within, rather than being labeled as ‘just more of the same’.
