The Escapists 2 adds a lot of content and is still the best prison escaping simulator available. There really aren't any major negatives here; if you enjoy the thought of planning prison escapes in a videogame you should pick this up right now.

The Escapists 2 is a game that has added a lot to the formula that gave its predecessor success, while managing to maintain its core identity. If you played the original Escapists then getting the sequel is a no brainer, while if you fancy taking on a generally very challenging game where you have to rely on your own wits then The Escapists 2 may be just what you’re looking for. There will be times when you get a little frustrated when you lose an item through messing with the wrong guards or a plan going wrong, but when you finally escape you’ll feel elation as you’ll love it when your plan comes together.

Like the original, The Escapists 2 delivers both a creative and challenging videogame that will keep fans of the first game busy for a long time to come.

The Escapists 2 is a very good sequel, that improves greatly over the original. Also, the online and multiplayer modes are a great addition.

All in all, The Escapists 2 is a bigger and better version of the original game. The core gameplay loop of improving your inmate and finding materials and resources to escape is really engaging, even if it can be remarkably boring at times. The new features are mostly hits, and even when they're misses, they just need to be fleshed out, rather than being bad additions to the experience. The Escapists 2 does a solid job, and it's fun to play. Its only shortcomings are some awkwardness with the controller and the general tedium and punishing nature of the game.

The Escapists 2 is a perfect sequel for fans of the first game but may overwhelm those new to the series.

It’s certainly a more thoughtful, methodical game than something like Monaco, but with patience, Mouldy Toof and Team17 will have you feeling like a real master of escape.

The best way to describe The Escapists 2 from its predecessor would be comparing an NES game to a SNES game.

The Escapists 2 offers you the chance to try your hand at escaping prison. Turns out that's not as easy as it sounds, with lots of trial and error and failed attempts guaranteed. If you can get in the right mindset however you'll have plenty of fun figuring out multiple ways to break out of the ten levels, both in single player and multiplayer. A great sequel.

The Escapists 2 is everything the first game was and more. Give it some time and it won’t be long before its claws have sunk in and you’re hooked.

The Escapists 2 is bigger and fresher than its predecessor, so if you loved the game released in 2015 you will surely enjoy this sequel.

A funny, entertaining, and awesome action puzzle. An enjoyable "Escape from Alcatraz" adventure, with a lot of humor and great multiplayer modes.

The Escapists 2 does not do anything innovative, but it does offer some new features. There are new levels, a possibility to create your own character and new ways of escaping the prison.

A game that starts slow but picks up the pace as it goes along. The Escapists 2 is a fun and challenging puzzle game, that as long as you can get by it's rough start. The levels are bigger and create a bigger challenge for the players and the new multiplayer aspect of the game is good, but the monotony of the everyday tasks and the big learning curve of the game can throw off some players.

The Escapists 2 doesn't makes big changes to the initial recipe of the game but offers enough improvements to justify the investment for the seasoned player as well as for the newbie.

The Escapists 2 is a great game and there are a lot of different ways to escape. You will enjoy the humor of the game. But it might be a bit hard to escape the prison.

Great sequel of one of those special games that offers something different. The new additions like the multiplayer modes adds depth to the already interesting proposal.

What The Escapists 2 does do is improve its look, expand your options for escape, and throws in a hilarious multiplayer. What The Escapists 2 does not do is make itself significantly more accessible and forgiving. If that put you off the first time, there’s little to convince you to play the sequel, but for fans, this is a rather pleasant upgrade.

The Escapists 2 is an ingenious and sometimes frustrating romp with a rewarding experience that’s often just out of reach. A follow-up to 2015’s deliciously popular prison-escape simulator, The Escapists 2 stays true to fans with more freedom and level variety but fails to endear detractors.

It isn’t perfect, and frustration will rear its ugly head from time to time, but for all its quirks, The Escapists 2’s blend of excitement and tension will keep you hooked. Lock yourself away with The Escapists 2 and you won’t regret it.

The Escapists 2 brings a very conservative formula. The most important improvement is the multiplayer mode, which works perfectly and masks the mistakes of this game.

This is my number one frustration, as any mistake puts you back much closer to square one. Any contraband you've hidden in your desk remains, but the on-hand keys, equipment, and weaponry you spent your time crafting are gone, and it's not quick or easy to regain. It wouldn't be so frustrating if the game allowed for manual saves, but the individual levels are tied to their online leaderboards and autosave every few seconds. I wish I could have turned this off for local play.

While The Escapists 2 appears to be a bombastic, fun loving adventure through misfortune and triumph, it turns out to be mostly a long and patient game of planning, and luck.

The update in the graphics and the co-op mode are truly welcomed additions and the gameplay is as addictive as ever. On the downside, The Escapists 2 gives the impression of a big expansion rather than a new game as it often creates a feeling of been here, done that.

Escaping from a prison sounds like a great concept, but half the time The Escapists 2 is just a time management game. A sandbox without much content.

The Escapists 2 makes a valiant effort at being a challenging, realistic take on prison life, but is a let-down in some crucial areas. The inadequate tutorials fail to capture what the rest of the experience demands, and even when this code is cracked it all becomes tedious quickly. It's a game behind the times, from the way it plays to its awkward design choices, and its weak performance and optimisation on consoles is further cause for frustration. For those willing to put themselves through an unbalanced learning curve there is some enjoyment to be had on the far side, but beyond the fleeting charm of some of the levels, the rest of the experience falls flat.

The amount of content for that price is insane and I haven't had a chance to play all of the included prisons yet. But what I have played, I have thoroughly enjoyed.

It seems many of the issues brought up by other reviewers have been remedied with patches and game changes. Reading the most recent patch notes, there were a lot of QoL changes and issues addressed. Such as adding manual saving. It may not be for everyone, but if this kind of game interests you, than you won't be disappointed. I hadn't played the first game, so it was my introduction to the series. But I do enjoy games like Prison Architect and the like.
