    Man of Medan lacks the campy charm of Until Dawn, but still offers an unnerving horror adventure with consequences that felt directly linked to my actions.

    I don't like scary/horror games but I do like games with good graphics and those where you can make decisions. What I enjoyed the most were the first 2 hours. It took me about 4'5 hours or so. I think the game was too short and the ending goes too quickly. Also, when you finish the game there's still unsolved questions.     The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan is the first part of the antalogy. And as a debut project, there should be somewhat low expectations for it. But Supermassive Games has already released Until Dawn. And if you have previously tried Until Dawn, then only one disappointment remains from Man of Medan. Secondly, as an ordinary FMV game, it is also mediocre, elections have little effect, the plot is linear and boring, and due to plot restrictions, the environment is monotonous. Although Man of Medan has great graphics and good facial expressions. But how can you evaluate this graphics when you literally walk around monotonous cabins for 6 hours. Man of Medan is the weakest part of The Dark Pictures Anthology at the moment, it can only be recommended to fans of the genre. As a separate independent work, this is a secondary game, fortunately for it they ask for the appropriate price.… Expand

    I heard an awful lot of criticism about this one, but after my incredibly pleasant surprise with The Quarry, i decided to simply play it with no expectations and no assumptions. And, I mean... it was better than people made it seem. The plot is really solid, I got invested in the mystery and the plot twist actually got me (even though it makes things much less interesting). The choices you make and the paths you take branch out nicely, but there is little space to where they can branch out since the game is about 4 hours long. Most of the characters are annoying, everyone is really stupid for some reason and the dialogue makes me question if there were actual people involved with the making of this game (not only people, but the same people that were previously involved with Until Dawn). And yes, it does do well on the scare department... before the plot twist. Still, if you want to have a game-movie night with your friends and/or if you think you're able to ignore the cringe dialogue, give it a go, because the mystery and the tension are pretty good here.… Expand

    Not as perfect as "Until Dawn" but still amazing. Played it two times and can only recommend it. Graphics are bad, but I didnt expect something else. German synchro is **** too

    * Besides a few jump scares, nothing scary in general
    * Just like Until Dawn, feels like “Traits and Relationships” doesn’t really change anything within the story
    * Wouldn’t play this game for more than $20. Luckily it was free

    A little bit better than little hope, but so far the first two games of the anthology has some of the most monotonous gameplay, even for a interactive game. It does have a better story, decisions, and characters, but still falls flat in terms of horror and the interactive genre. Not bad if you want to snag it on sale , though.

    Good enough game, but noticeably lacking compared to Until Dawn. Was also massively disappointed with how... not scary this game ended up being. It has it's moments, it isn't bad, but it's not great either.

    Finished Man of Medan with my sister and it's was a good game but kind of boring gameplay wise. The atmosphere was outstanding; perfectly intense and creepy with all the jump scares being well done and perfectly placed not feeling obvious and forced. Parts of the writing were good like the story while others weren't like the dialogue at times felt awkward and cheesy. The visuals duringFinished Man of Medan with my sister and it's was a good game but kind of boring gameplay wise. The atmosphere was outstanding; perfectly intense and creepy with all the jump scares being well done and perfectly placed not feeling obvious and forced. Parts of the writing were good like the story while others weren't like the dialogue at times felt awkward and cheesy. The visuals during cutscenes were pretty great but sometimes the motion capture looked a little off and there were some glitches at times especially while walking around. I didn't really like the mechanics, the breathing and quick actions felt a little too fast and the walking around mechanic was a little janky. The performances from Ayisha Issa, Arielle Palik, Shawn Ashmore, Kwasi Songui, Kareem Alleyne, Chris Sandiford, and Chimwemwe Miller were superb. So overall it could've been better but it was still pretty fun and the atmosphere really saved the game.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have played until down and enjoyed it and I was expecting that I will have the same experience with this game, unfortunately, I did not.

    I couldn't connect with any character and I simply didn't care if they lived or died. Furthermore, the game environments is interesting at the beginning by the further I go into the ship, the more I get bored with the repeated rooms.

    also, the game depends heavily on QTE and less on your dialogue choices. so, you need to be really careful on completing QTE if you want to have the best ending.

    I wish they had added more depth to the story and the characters, also the horror elements are not scary at all.

    I would not recommend this game unless you want to have a funny movies night with friend and just chill out while playing.    … Expand

It’s nowhere near as scary and bone chilling as Until Dawn was. The story in this game was fairly bland and son were the characters.     Stunning looking game with minor tehnical hick ups. Too short and characters are sometimes stupid. Controls can be pain. Cool story and great atmosphere.

    This game is pretty mediocre. The story is kinda dumb, very predictable and way too short, the characters are one dimensional, there is not really any character development and the voice acting isn't great either. The only good part is the variety of endings, that's it.

The addition of multiplayer/co-op with friends was a nice touch also. However, the load times are far too long and is very very poorly optimised as there were many texture and framerate issues that I experiencedGood horror game with a lacklustre story.     Jogando aproximadamente 6/7 horas procurando todas as pistas e acabando de fazer o meu primeiro final (apenas Conrad morreu), eu confesso que fiquei dividido quanto ao jogo, mas principalmente decepcionado. Man of Medan é ruim? Ao meu ver, não, porém falando como uma pessoa que platinou Until Dawn, senti que esse Título da Supermassive games regrediu em    UNTIL DAWN FOI O PONTO MAIS ALTO?

    Even though Man of Medan is far less inspired than its studio predecessor Until Dawn, it offers an enjoyable horrific atmosphere, with good ideas and well thought out sequences. Unfortunately we would have appreciated more surprises and an extended lifespan, which would have given us the time to be really afraid. Everything is going too fast and we have the feeling that the story is sloppy. Too bad because this first chapter of The Dark Pictures has a good potential, but all it does is just scratch the surface.

    Man of Medan starts out well enough but just falls apart towards the end leading up to a pretty anti-climatic ending thanks to a twist that was given away at the very beginning of the story. It's not terrible but it's not nearly as good as Until Dawn. Still, as a fan of Until Dawn, I still enjoyed the story for what it was but I didn't really have a desire to go back and play through it again after finishing it the first time.
