The Crew: Wild Run Edition is the closest thing on the market to a racing MMO and I had more fun with it than with any other racing title this year.

The Crew Wild Run is quite better than the launch version of the game, thanks to many graphics enhancements and three new game modes included in the Summit. Even tough there are still some features that need to be improved, such as the driving model, collisions detection and the impact of weather on vehicles.

The UI is still an unintuitive mess, the story is still laughably bad and impossible for new players to avoid, and finding players to join my Crew frequently took far too long. And while the driving mechanics and general visuals have undoubtedly improved, they still haven't caught up to other, better racing games like Forza and Need For Speed. As a result, The Crew as a whole remains a lackluster experience, even with its monster truck half-pipes.

The second you boot this up, the overhauled graphics just blow you away a huge improvement of the lackluster graphics of vanilla crew. The DLC brings 3 new specs, event creator and the summit a huge multi stage event with great fun to be had. Drag is the first spec and this is a crazy fun one. Ridiculous speeds timing gear shifts and precise control is the way to go. Drift is a fun spec built obviously for drifting through corners and fianlly monster trucks huge cars and trucks built like raid spec on steroids. Plus bikes are in the game epic motorcycles are now in the crew. overall wild run is great and if it's not worth it just get the free update for some new features Full Review »

Despite what people said, I loved it, the different classes, the easy drifting, I loved the game so much I beat it three times over on separate accounts and even went on to play other racing games so imagine how excited I was when the new expansion was leaked!

Fast forward to today when I bought it and I have never gone from loving a game to despising it so quickly before. For £25 you get around 6 new cars, only two of which you can actually use as the new classes, and two motorbikes which handle decently, the motorbikes are the one saving grace. The drift cars handle like a unicycle on ice making what could be enjoyable into a frustrating mess, the drag racing is fun once or twice until you realise its incredibly motonous and then the monster trucks are simply a coin grab minigame where again, the car handles like complete garbage and this is all it gives you, time trials and three party style minigames that are just a pain in the ass to play and that is it! Add that there is next to no story elements, just forced PvP events that you can only play once a month and its basically the little extras that Forza Horizon gives for free in a wonderful overpriced bundle. Were this £10 I would be inclined to say I got some moneys worth but for £25 I was offended that they actually let me pay that much.

ONLY buy this if youve never played the crew cause its a decent addition to an otherwise great game, but as a standalone expansion? Its an embrassment

I found it bland to look at, the world huge but empty, the driving mechanics horrid and menu systems confusing and bewildering.

I decided to buy this version because it was so cheap at my local retailer and have to say was / am very happily surprised. In all, the issues I had with the game initially had largely gone or were decreased. Don't get me wrong, this is NOT a forza horizon 2 or anything, but for me it is worlds better than the new need for speed.

Driving feels better, but is still very arcade.. the upgrading system is honestly a bit annoying in that you have to "win" everything, but it is okay. The various upgrading paths you can take the vehicles is interesting and I genuinely like it - but limited in that not every car can be taken down each path.

The world while huge and interesting, is still a little boring. But graphically it is so so much nicer to look at with weather genuinely changing the way that you handle the vehicles. The multiplayer element is.... well in my experience - still rubbish. With my multi-player friends in game jumping around all over the place and disappearing for no reason etc.

Music is still meh and car sounds are still meh at times. The new vehicles (monster trucks, drifters, drag and bikes) are all great - with monster trucks particularly pleasing when you take them to the normal roads outside of the events. Drift cars are horrifically difficult to drive outside of the event components.

I will be very interested to see where Ubisoft and Ivory Tower take this game in the future and whether or not it will ever be offline. But I can genuinely say that I would recommend this as a good time waster vehicle based game.
