Apr 17, 2017Although I hate to be so vague about The Bunker, giving away too much would be doing a great disservice to anyone reading this review. Instead, I’ll simply say that it’s one of the most enjoyable FMV games I’ve ever played, and that I’d recommend prospective players block out two hours and go through it all in a single sitting. My compliments to Splendy Games, and I’m now officially on record as being quite prepared to drop a few dollars on whatever they turn out next.

Sep 26, 2016As the industry gears up for another bumper holiday season, The Bunker offers something a little different. It doesn't attempt to give you a bulk of gameplay or mechanics, but it makes up for this and more in its plot and characters. Don't let this experience pass you by if you're looking for an interesting and superb story, because we think this is the FMV genre at its very best.

Nov 11, 2016It’s difficult to speak in detail about the story simply due to the amount of spoilers and the overall length of it. Some people value their game prices based on length alone and for those players, The Bunker isn’t for you. This is a game that has value beyond gameplay time. If you want a game with an interesting story, with some good twists, and can appreciate a game that uses live action as the base, I would recommend checking it out.

Sep 29, 2016While The Bunker is a rather straightforward adventure game, its FMV trappings are enough for it to stick out from the crowd. It’s proof that full-motion video doesn’t have to be campy in order to succeed, and can be just as viable as any other form of animation for the right type of game. Check it out if you’re looking to experience a solid story, and play something a bit different.

Sep 27, 2016Strong acting and an interesting, creepy story make The Bunker very much worth experiencing at least once. It's a nice little adventure, though two hours of limited playtime may not be enough to justify the pricetag.
-
Oct 17, 2016The interaction is so limited that The Bunker doesn't look like a game. It's more an interactive movie, with a great atmosphere and an interesting story.
-
Oct 9, 2016The game is about as long as a movie, making it short at three or so hours in length, but I enjoyed the ride. The gameplay is a tad weak due to the puzzles being very easy to figure out, but realistically you are in this one purely for the storytelling. Also, the game has a satisfying ending which a lot of games seem to be lacking these days.
-
Sep 20, 2016The team has succeeded in creating something that feels truly different and unique, but it's over too quickly and far too simple as a game.
-
Sep 20, 2016A wonderfully tense and oppressive atmosphere let down by the restrictions of live action interactivity.
-
Sep 20, 2016Despite my initial impressions, I really enjoyed The Bunker. I’m never going to play it again, but for the couple of hours it lasted it held my attention and expertly racked up the tension. It is certainly not for everyone, but it entertained me for it’s duration and you can’t really ask much more than that.

Playstation Official Magazine UKNov 21, 2016A beautifully made project, indeed, but one with limitations that peg it behind the likes of Virginia or Dear Esther. [Dec 2016, p.73]

Nov 4, 2016While I did like The Bunker, it definitely feels like it suffers from the same things that old FMV games like this always have, feeling like the only difference that’s occurred in the 20+ years since the first FMV adventure game was released is fidelity. With a stronger script, the game would be an easy recommendation, but as it is it’s mostly coasting on novelty, with just enough hooks to get you going through to the end.
-
Oct 12, 2016At the very least, it earns points for its attempts to make the most out of this subgenre thanks to its unique hook in the way they achieved their setting and some fine acting, but much like the titular bunker itself, a lot of it does sadly feel a bit empty after a bit.
-
Sep 20, 2016Showcasing a clever narrative steeped in great performances and anchored by a real sense of place, The Bunker sadly doesn't last long enough or offer sufficient incentive to return to its titular subterranean dwelling once the credits roll on this interactivity-light adventure.
