it’s a game.
Mansion mayhem is a fully functional 6 hour long local co op or single player game and that’s about the best thing I can say about it. You can play solo or with up to 4 players, there is a sstory mode where you can play as Gomez, Morticia, Pugsley, or Wednseday.. here you go through a level and youre given 3 optional tsks.. sorta.. theyre sortve optional.. as much like a Mario game you need a certain amount of family crests to unlock the next nevel.. there are again 3 to collect in ech level.. 2 that are hidden, and one where you collect a certain amount of coins.. I didn’t find finding these secrets to be annoying.. however I just found Mansion mayhem to not be fun, its not that its too simple or too easy, its not that the game doesn’t try to mix things up, as youll unlock different abilities as the game goes on.. its just that everything feels lifeless.. pun not intended… this game is dead, youre just going through the motions, playing as these slow characters, with their clunky combat and platforming, trying to get all the secrets you can in a level that feels like its never going to end over and over and over, none of it was enjoyable.. especially the level where I got caught in an endless death loop, and not the good kind from arkane studios, one that fored me to restart the entire level as there are no come back later chekcpints.. every level has to be done in one go.. no progress saved which blows my mind for a game all about collecting.. you should remember what coins ive collected and what I havnt… I don’t want to get to a level, see a lock and a number and be like great which level should I go back and try to get coins for or find its secret, which one was the most barable.. a videogame shouldn’t feel like that.. I should want to find everything especially when the whole game is developed around that idea of find stuff to move on..
there are also mini games you play once every 2 levels, where youre collecting stars and moons.. I would look forward to these, not because theyre fun, but because theyre a break from the boredom that are these dreadfully long boring levels…
Mansion Mayhem is again playable, its mechanics from throwing bombs to swinging on spiderwebs all feel fine, but nothing fun is ever done with these mechanics.. playing through this game feels like a chore.
I give The Addams Family: Mansion Mayhem
a 5/10… Expand
