Part solid execution and part missed opportunity, Tetris Ultimate is hard to judge. If all you want is a good version of classic Tetris for your new console, this one will suit your needs well. The low price is nice and the gameplay options provided are a nice touch, but it doesn't do enough to earn the "ultimate" moniker.

It's Tetris, and that's pretty much it. Unless you need to play Tetris on new consoles, there aren't too many reasons to choose this version.

While I’m not sure that I would call Ultimate Tetris the ultimate version of Tetris, it certainly is an adequate version of the classic. They nail the basic concept of the classic game but fail to really take it anywhere new. Plus, the online issues are just plain horrendous.

A new revision of one of the best games ever that adds almost nothing to the PS3 version we already played. However, Tetris is as fun and addictive as ever, even more if you play it with someone.

Framerate fluctuations render Tetris Ultimate almost unplayable, and while these issues only seem to occur when online, disconnecting tends to strip the title of much of its appeal.

How do you make a broken Tetris game?

Frame rate issues (really serious ones), online problems, even gap spacing problems. I programmed Tetris once for the Amiga with a 7mhz processor and it worked better than this. The Gameboy worked better than this. There are watches that can play Tetris better than this. **** pitiful.

I gotta say, as a man who grew up as a boy who played this game on a big Nintendo brick hand-held non-stop...PLEASE QUIT MAKING THIS GAME.I gotta say, as a man who grew up as a boy who played this game on a big Nintendo brick hand-held non-stop...PLEASE QUIT MAKING THIS GAME. Every year, EVERY YEAR there is a "Tetris Ultimate Complete DX Plus Alpha" bull-s*** release that just manages to defecate on the original classic. Tetris, Tetris 2. That concludes the list of good Tetris games. It's not that the idea has gotten worse, its the execution. Why do developers feel the need to breathe new life into this franchise through minuscule, mediocre changes that ultimately flaw the simplistic design that made the original so enjoyable. Now I know what you're thinking..."but there IS a classic mode!". Yeah, there always is. You know why? Because even the developers aren't dumb enough to realize without the classic mode added in THE GAME WOULDN'T SELL! At that point, just go download the original ROM and save yourself copious amounts of money year after year trying to get your old favorite on your new favorite console. Ubisoft has been on a roll recently, so I'm not knocking them. This and that trife Monopoly re-re-re-re-re-re-reboot they did recently are just pocket padding for larger upcoming titles like The Division...but still. 4/10, please note beyond the concept being flawed, this is just a bad iteration of the series. Lot's of hiccups in frame-rate (IN TETRIS!!!!????) and constant connectivity issues make this at best a couch co-op romp that lasts maybe an hour. Full Review »
