    This is a hidden gem in the ps4 library, the game itself is playable art and very creative in its design. The only thing I did not like was how the game forces you to play more levels where it could have been better to finish when you reach the story arc goal. however, that said is only a niche on a fantastic game wish I played it on the P.S Vita before though.

    This is a beautiful 3d plattformer/adventure in paper style. The gameplay is fun and the visuals still looks amazing today, 5 years after its release.

    A fantastic game with fun, diverse gameplay, a bumpin soundtrack, and awesome art. Even the voice acting is top shelf. It’s really phenomenal, and I highly recommend it.

    I subtracted one point because some camera angles were very problematic, and another point because of bugs that I encountered throughout my playthrough.     Creative use of the PS4 controller makes for a surprising and visionary game. It's not super fun, and some sections could have been cut to make for a more focused game. But it's damn creative and visionary.

    JUGABILIDAD:
    El Tearaway original se creó para demostrar las capacidades del PSVita. Unfolded se creó para demostrar las capacidades del Dualshock4: y lo logró con creces.

    El aprovechamiento del control es increíble, a lo largo del juego usamos TODO lo que el DS4 nos ofrece. Si bien la jugabilidad es simple al principio, conforme avanzamos iremos ganando nuevas habilidades que darán complejidad al gameplay. En niveles más avanzados tendremos que descubrir nuevos caminos o pasajes haciendo uso de las habilidades que hemos ido adquiriendo durante el juego, algunas veces combinándolas en el momento preciso y sin equivocaciones so pena de matar a nuestro personaje.

    Como puntos negativos diré que hay algunos puntos en que se queda por debajo de su hermano del Vita, como el dibujar sobre el touchpad. La cámara es molesta a veces y los desarrolladores nos dan poco control sobre ella, así que hay que pasar algunos niveles medio a ciegas.

    Tearaway Unfolded es un juego para desplegar tu creatividad, y lo logra. Traspasa la pantalla (literalmente) e incluso nos permite descargar los planos de origami que encontremos y armarlos en el mundo real.

    El final se va a quedar en mí para siempre. Gracias Media Molecule.

    GRÁFICOS:
    El estilo de ARTE es hermoso. Todo simulando ser hecho de papel, en origami. Todo lleno de color. Todo lleno de contraste. Todo deliciosamente creado para un deleite visual del jugador. Pero no solo eso: hay un nivel a blanco y negro ("entre las páginas") y sin miedo a equivocarme puedo asegurar que fue el más disfrutable.

    SONIDO:
    Las piezas son excelentes, la canción tema en particular es de esas que se quedan pegadas en tu cabeza.
    Los efectos de sonido y las voces de los personajes son caricaturescos y le da esa sensación graciosa al juego. La verdad he disfrutado mucho de la musicalización.

    INNOVACIÓN:
    No le pongo la máxima calificación por una razón muy sencilla: esa es para el Tearaway original de PSVIta.    … Expand

    As an adult, I found this game an adorable and perfect for kids. The game has a wonderful game design and creative mechanics. This game using all capabilities of DualShock 4 and it is integrated so organically. I understand that this game made for kids but I think they should have added harder difficulty.     gioco dal comparto artistico mozzafiato, da lasciare senza parole.
    Capolavoro d'innovazione, la bocca mi è rimasta spalancata per i primi 20 minuti di gioco.
    Meno spettacolare e anzi, carente, dal punto di vista della frenesia e del gameplay. Dopo una prima run non ho avuto la sensazione di volerne fare un altra o platinarlo, mi è bastata la prima dal momento in cui il punto forte del    gioco dal comparto artistico mozzafiato, da lasciare senza parole.
    Capolavoro d'innovazione, la bocca mi è rimasta spalancata per i primi 20 minuti di gioco.
    Meno spettacolare e anzi, carente, dal punto di vista della frenesia e del gameplay.
    Dopo una prima run non ho avuto la sensazione di volerne fare un altra o platinarlo, mi è bastata la prima dal momento in cui il punto forte del titolo, l'arte, si nota e stupisce solo alla prima run.
    Alcuni dettagli non sono fatti benissimo come il volo con l'aeroplanino, parecchio frustrante e alcuni movimenti della telecamera e dei salti.
    Storia fragile ma supportata da un grande messaggio finale.
    Epilogo troppo allungato, dura almeno 2 ore e la storia in tale frangente di gioco è quasi assente.
    Voto complessivo un onesto 80/100, grazie al comparto artistico e alle innovazioni portate, e anche grazie ai bellissimi personaggi.    … Expand

    From the unique story to its creative gameplay, Tearaway Unfolded is truly one of the most varied games I've ever played. At its core is a simple platformer, which is effective and becomes more complex as the game goes on. The only troubles I had playing was with the camera and the ending. It doesn't seem to know when to end, but when it does it is heartwarming and worthwhile.

The moment where I first bonded with my "Iota" will stick in my mind as one of my favorite videoSugar, spice, and everything nice. Tearaway Unfolded is one of the warmest video game experience I've ever had. One that taps into your creativity and delights you with wonderful platforming in worlds unlike any you've ever seen before. It's unique style makes for an unforgettable experience. The moment where I first bonded with my "Iota" will stick in my mind as one of my favorite video game moments.

    It's remarkable to see a game that makes use of each of the PS4's unique features the way this one does. Motion controls, the touch pad, and other stuff I won't spoil for you. The game makes use of PS4 functions that most of other game's seem to not know exist. It's all tied to some clever challenges and top-notch platforming.

    The real treat though is how the game tasks you with shaping it's world. You'll come across characters and events that require you to make objects that come to life right before you in game. Someone asks you to make some butterflies? Expect to see them flying around the world when you're done. Give someone a new face or name, and that's how they'll stay for the rest of the game. It's this sort of thing that makes Tearaway so special. You really feel like you're making your mark on the world in ways no other game has ever done. Sure, plenty of RPGs have you deciding outcomes by making the tough decisions, but how many games actually allow you to breath life into their world? Tearaway Unfolded is the only one that comes to mind for me.

    It's not perfect though. For example, drawing on the controllers small touch pad makes it hard to really make something beautiful. There's also the rare glitch, one of which I encountered forced me to have to restart the game. For the most part though things are fantastic and the gameplay is immensely enjoyable, even when the camera decides to misbehave.

    Give Tearaway Unfolded a shot. It's an incredible experience. One unlike anything else out there. It's brimming with heart, sweetness, and all around warmth and good spirit. Plus it's just all too rare to see a good 3rd person platformer out there. At least outside of a Nintendo system. It just so happens that this PS4 exclusive is one of the best. I have a hard time believing anyone could be too disappointed with this.    … Expand

    Beautiful game. Makes fantastic use, of what other games haven't, of the motion sensor and touch pads on the PlayStation 4 controllers. More games need to be created like this. Truly a game of art.

It's also a game that will make all your devices (PS Camera,    Tearaway was one of the finest exclusive of PS Vita that used all the specificities of the hardware so this was not an easy port. Let's see how they did do it.

    Technically the game is a marvel with beautiful graphics (for what was a Vita game) but mostly an art direction (world of paper) close to perfection and full of ideas. It's also a game that will make all your devices (PS Camera, microphone, controller) shine. I didn't encountered any glitch or framerate issue during my playthrough so no complains on that domain neither.

    Concerning the gameplay it's a 3D platformer, rather classic in it's game design but with an execution like you've never seen before. It always finds new ways to use your controller. On the side you can use your creativity to create item. You'll have fun during all the campaign.

    The story is about saving the world (how surprising) from scraps that are taking all the creativity and colors away, there's something poetic about it but you won't be surprised. If you want to finish the game at 100% (there's lot of collectibles like any good platformer) you can expect around 15 hours of gameplay which is good for the genre.

    In conclusion Tearaway Unfolded is one of (if not THE) best 3D platformers available for the console and if you like the genre you have to play it. Too bad the story has some "déjà-vu" to really be a perfect game.    … Expand

Everything in the game (characters, environments, weather effects, animals, etc.) is an actual papercraft which was made by real papercraft professionals hired from the developers, and then imported in the game itself. You can also customise your avatar (named Iota or Atoi) with 100s of items (noses, eyes, clors, etc.)Tearaway Unfolded is a 3D platformer set in a world made of papercraft. Everything in the game (characters, environments, weather effects, animals, etc.) is an actual papercraft which was made by real papercraft professionals hired from the developers, and then imported in the game itself. You can also customise your avatar (named Iota or Atoi) with 100s of items (noses, eyes, clors, etc.) or create various shapes on the controller's touchpad as required by other characters, and insert them into the game world.

    In the beginning you can only move around and interact with others (no jump), but gradually you gain abilities (jump, roll, control of the wind, photo camera, suck gun, illumination), my favorite being the few moments you are let to freely fly in a paper plane. The game is mostly about care-free exploration with minimal platforming and a bit of combat situations, but the last 1/3 ramps its platforming considerably. It's not difficult by any means, but its unique quirks (such as moving platforms through motion controls) can be a bit frustrating at some points.

    What makes Tearaway unique is its interaction (or rather, integration) with the player himself. As in the Vita version, you can insert a photo of yours into the game and appear as a godly figure in the sky, to which Iota/Atoi has to deliver a message (the story isn't anything great, but you didn't play Mario back in the SNES era just for its scenario, did you? :P). A few times you will be asked to shout at the controller's microphone so as to record your short voice clip and give your voice to an in-game character. In a fourth wall breaking moment, you can throw objects to your controller and throw them back into the game world by swiping the touchpad to help Iota/Atoi advance. If you spot white figures in the scenery you can photograph them and unlock papercraft plans which you can download as pdf files to your computer and make them in the real world. In-game collectibles which turn into real world rewards. So cool!!!

    The music is something else. It's a collection of beautiful acoustic instrumentals, and there are some songs that are so catchy I can't ever forget them.

    Tearaway Unfolded isn't just a port of the original Vita game, it's an overhauled version to accomodate PS4 and its controller. I 'd say that roughly 30% of the game is new to this version, because Tearaway was designed as a showcase of the Vita's features and some sections of the Vita game (such as those involving the back touchpad) couldn't be replicated on the PS4, so they were cut and replaced with new ones. Even if you have played the Vita version, there is still something new to discover with Unfolded. A magical game has only got more beautiful with 1080p graphics, 60 fps, and quality MSAA.    … Expand

This game is not perfect, it has a decent amount of blemishes from story to general gameplay, but wow I never played anything like it before, and the strengths of this game can make anyone overlook it's blemishes. I will start with it's weaknesses, the game to a lot can be a little too long; and I agree it does drag on, and to be honest the way the game is structured; it really could've ended when you finish each "chapter", and it indeed suprised me each time the game continued after each chapter ended, "Chapter 3 felt forced at first to me at first, but I quickly grew to realized it had the most amazing and unique level design in the whole game.The gameplay I loved, but to alot of people will be a turnoff, simple but really unique platforming, there are also no guns, mostly just throwing objects at enemies or using your light-bar for combat. Most of the side missions were unique, but half of it was very elementary; and ok, but sometimes a bland linear open world. Now I can't stop gushing at the positives for this game. It really literally utilizes every aspect of the controller, which I loved. The lightbar, motion control, touchpad (especially loved drawing) all formed a very fun and amazing experience I've never had before in gaming. Seeing your creation in the world is AMAZING, hearing your voice in the game is AMAZING!!! Wandering off course looking for secret boxes were fun. The platforming and gameplay really shines in chapter two and three, one of the most unique/fun platforming experiences I've ever had. The story was meh, but the ending to me was cute. To me, although it did seemed like chapter 1 was an huge tutorial, chapter 2 and 3 had amazing gameplay and platforming utilizing the ps4 controller. I also forgot to mention I love the papery world, it felt real and authentic, major points for creativity!!!To end, this is not an game for everyone (casual dude bro gamers), but for hardcore gamers and looking for something unique, this is an amazing experience.     Tearaway is a shared journey between "you" and the messenger Iota (or Atoi). The messager must reach the hole in the sky if he/she is to deliver his message to "you". Its your job to guide the messenger on their journey. It will be a grand adventure, one where you'll leave your mark everywhere you go. The ability to take pictures along the way lets you catalog your experiences to reflect back on at a later time. Use this feature to celebrate your victories as you help the different local creatures with their needs.

    Tearaway is a platformer with a heavy emphasis on creativity. This becomes evident very early on as you're task with creating your own unique messenger. You buy different objects and facial features for decorating by collecting scraps found though out the game. You can even make your own designs which is necessary a different at key points throughout the game. It very rewarding to see the impact your creations have on the world and its inhabitants.

    The gameplay is all about utilizing the features of the PS4 controller (just as the original game used the features of the Vita). In order to navigate though this world you'll use everything from the touch pad, to the sixaxis, to specific button manipulation. For example, the touch pad lets you draw objects and by tapping it your can help your messenger bounce around the levels. Other than that this is pretty much a semi-tradition platformer with a heavy emphasis on story-telling.

    This three-dimensional platformer is quite a change of pace from Media Molecule side-scrolling Little Big Planet series. Its amazing how well they were able to transition to a very different style of gameplay. This is such a unique experience and its wonderfully executed. Platforming can sometimes get a little tough, especially towards the end. This a minor gripe in a game that is mostly pretty laid back and leaves the tougher challenges as optional quests. It seems like every time you feel it might come to an end you're thrown back into the world with new areas to explore. This helps make Tearaway a surprisingly long game. This is a cute and charming adventure game that players of all ages should be able to enjoy.    … Expand

    A giant hole is ripped in the sky that lets in these ugly newspaper scraps that take the color away from this papercrafter world..
    And its up to you to help the messenger rid this world of scrap paper as well as deliver its message to you.
    And to make this message even more yours, you get to customize your messenger in any way you can think of..
    The game starts out so clever with you using the light on your ps4 controller to clean up the scraps
    you have very little controller over the messenger at first
    as you progress through the game you gradually gain more control and are able to jump…
    swipe the touch pad to create wind in the game…
    tilt the controller to effect platforms later on, and in one level the entire world…
    but ultimately this quickly starts to feel like a controller demo rather than a game…
    And this simply comes down to just trying way too much…
    The game is constantly adding more to your plate when you have plenty of tools in using the light to clean the environment and battle the scraps…
    Using the touchpad to create objects within the world for the main story and as sidequests adding an awesome layer of magic to the game…
    seeing a character or item without color in the world and taking their picture to help them get it back…
    All of the swiping and tilting added on later in the game is just too much…
    They satisfy your appetite for something new and then force you to eat another plate before you can have desert…
    The same can be found in the story itself..
    it drags on way too long…
    This is a 10 to 12 hour story depending on if you care to do side activities…
    But bgy hour 4 I was ready for the credits to come.. and not because I was tired of the game.. but because it felt like it was time…
    that the pacing has set up for this to be the end..

    There are so many chapters that add nothing to the story..
    I feel like they were just there to be there.. to add padding…
    and again the same can be said for the swiping with the wind and tilting the controller…
    with throwing objects into your controller to swipe them back out…
    it feels crammed and forced.
    These things should have been saved for a sequel.
    And next time, they should fold it back up…
    WhileTearway Unfolded is one of the most charming platformers released in a while..
    I feel like the need to add and stretch gives a bitter taste to what could have otherwise been a sweet experience.

    Loved the game. I don't understand why people complain that it's too long. You're getting more game for your dollar. The story does get broken up because of it's length, but you ultimately play this game for the gameplay, not the story. Although the story isn't terrible.

    Such a cute and fun game. I had a lot of fun playing and my daughter tagged team in from time to time. It has solid gameplay, ridiculously cute graphics, and enough replayability and secrets to unlock that you can return to each level/area multiple times. It is so refreshing and cool to see all of your creations join the world you are playing it. The PS4 version is a big upgrade over theSuch a cute and fun game. I had a lot of fun playing and my daughter tagged team in from time to time.     I think every PS4 owner who likes videogames as a form of art should buy and play this game. Best use of the Dualshock 4 I've ever seen, innovative gameplay, unique moments, charming music, and one surprise after another. The level design is genius. I started playing this game and I couldn't put it down. It charmed me to the bones. One of my top games ever.

    Super cute, Media Molecule always does charming games. The DualShock control can be wonky but at least they tried.

    The characters like the squirrels are so endearing.

    One of the best experiences I've had on a console in a while. Simple gameplay, enough challenge in some of the secrets. Perfect execution. Great game.

    Tearaway Unfolded, like its mobile forebear, is an enchanting adventure. A bedrock of strong platforming mechanics supports a world that recalls The Wizard of Oz’s wide-eyed whimsy. Children will absolutely adore it, but even grown-up gamers with a taste for handcrafted, homespun style should follow the fold.

    Sony made a great decision in bringing this charming IP to PS4. Just like the Vita version, Unfolded has the same great feel of utilizing the hardware in an interesting and fun way.
