Very simple storyline. The whole game is stories about heroes of gays and lesbians.

I pre ordered the game on the PS4 a couple of days before it launched just to save some cash. The rationale was: "if I dislike the game at least I didn't pay full price for it". I have been curious about the game and interested in it since it came out on the Xbox. I have now played through the game twice and expect to play it a third time with the commentaries turned on. Got all the trophies and, in a nutshell, had a lot of fun. It's definitely an entertaining game. The concept and mechanics are cool. It's a short adventure game at less than 3h. But the pace throughout is good. The way you play it is analogous to reading a small book - a small book with a compelling story. The game oozes atmosphere and at £11.99, I have no regrets whatsoever. It's a great, memorable, little game. If you are good at managing your expectations and get this game for what it is (instead of what you would like it to be), then I would recommend you play it soon. It's a brief but delightful experience. Expand

This results in one of the two parties getting cancelled!!!

Ok....the above is perhaps not exactly what happens.

Interesting, short, easy platinum and surprising mystery all in one package.

If you can wade through the agenda and have got 2-3 hours it will not be wasted. Reading and listening to all the additional snippets will fill out the story and conditions greatly.

    Tacoma
    Gone to Space?
Tacoma comes from the same studio that made Gone Home and this is sort of a similar type of game. Its finally on PS4 and with it comes a new mode that allows you to play this roughly 1 hr. and 45-minute game with developer commentary I went into this game completely blind not knowing what to expect. having appreciated gone home but not loved it as much as everyone

I went into this game completely blind not knowing what to expect. having appreciated gone home but not loved it as much as everyone else. I also had the whole set in space thing working against me. but I was surprised how interesting and new this experience ended up being..
Here you play as a character named Amy, you enter the abandoned Tacoma station to retrieve AI data and figure out exactly what happened to the characters that were living here…
Thankfully for you there was a surveillance AI called ODIN watching their every move…
so as you explore the station you’ll be able to recreate important scenes, and as the scenes play out you have to collect important information from different characters, reading conversations and documents…
this observing and finding the character in the area you need information from while the scene plays out is the entire game..
what makes this so cool though is that you can freely pause and rewind.
and characters don’t all stay huddled up in an area…
they’re separated doing their own thing. and even each other.
I found it fun to rewind and listen to individual conversations going on at the same time as the important conversation chunk I was supposed to be listening to…
and this is what makes Tacoma such a unique experience.
    it feels real.
the station feels as though it was lived in and every character having simultaneous conversations and having their own secrets and love affairs to uncover makes this feel like you’re observing something that really happened, and that you’re sticking your nose in places it doesn’t belong…
But of course you can’t help yourself…
I feel however not much was done here gameplay wise.
This game felt more like a concept than something complete…
a couple of times you’ll have to rewind to get a code for a locker, but these moments never had much of a payoff…
and that’s all that’s really done gameplay wise.
This really is just a game about collecting information
but that’s what you’re sent there to do.
IF you’re expecting a cool narrative experience you’re not going to get that here.
The delivery of the story is great, but the story itself is pretty bland
Ultimately, I feel like Tacoma more than anything is a neat experience with a cool concept
you’re not missing much if you skip it, but it feels far from being a waste of time.
And if you couldn’t tell, yes this was a hard game to write a review for.
    I give Tacoma
    a 6.5/10

It all seems well voice acted and the holo investigation concept is neat, but it is boring as hell in application and execution. Wow I have literally fell asleep several times on the first level of the affirmative action space station. What a bore snore fest so far listening to holo recordings of people chatting boring stuff. Puzzles are kind of simple so no real gameplay challenge. It all seems well voice acted and the holo investigation concept is neat, but it is boring as hell in application and execution. Tacoma is a short enjoyable story in which you are sent to investigate a spaceship whose passengers dissappeared. The gameplay is very simple and the game is very linear, it stands good on the short runtime. With a good twist and a satisfying ending Tacoma comes of as very enjoyable.

The games story is an interesting mystery but its a walking sim which could be a good thing or a bad thing the main issue I had with the game was that it crashed 3 times at seemingly random but thankfully the checkpoint system prevented me from losing any significant progress

Tacoma is a visually striking narrative game developed by Fullbright. Set aboard a deserted space station in 2088, it tells a captivating short story through interactive augmented reality recordings. The visuals are remarkable, immersing players in a futuristic world. Tacoma is a really good story wrapped up in a simple walking simulator. Engaging with the AR segments and exploring the station was enjoyable; the information presented was mostly interesting, while the voice acting was excellent. In terms of actual gameplay, it's sadly lacking and the investigation feature is its' saving grace. There are some minigames thrown in, but very little else. Coupled with (this reviewer) several game crashes, this definitely dampened the experience. I would say it is worth making the trip once. Make sure to play this in one sitting.

Though Tacoma's crew inhabit a far flung future with problems to match, I found myself believing in their relationships. [Issue#150, p.90]

Although Tacoma's unique method of storytelling in itself should make it worth playing, the urgency of the narrative is never really felt. Without the highs and lows, it all falls a bit flat. The puzzles are great fun but the game length does leave something to be desired. The graphical glitches during use of the elevator pull you out of the experience entirely which is a shame.
