Oct 21, 2015Overall Sword Art Online Re: Hollow Fragment is a game for true anime fans. For those looking for a traditional RPG, I suggest watching the first part of season one of the series before diving into this game as it will make more sense.
-
Oct 1, 2015Re: Hollow Fragment is a definitive improvement over its previous release, however it's a shallow one which focuses on fixing issues which shouldn't even have been there in the first place and adding moderately useless stuff.
-
Aug 10, 2015Playstation Vita's revision of the original game that launched last year, with better visuals and translation issues solved, although it still has some frame issues. Perfect for those waiting Sword Art Online Lost Song.
-
Aug 28, 2015The definitive version of SAO's videogame adaptation, Re: Hollow Fragment suffers from an identity crisis being on PS4, but shines overall with its loyalty to the series and its visual novel elements.
-
Oct 8, 2015Clearly, Re: Hollow Fragment is designed specifically for stalwarts of Sword Art Online. If they haven’t already played the game on the Vita, the digital-only PlayStation 4 version offers more content and a whole new set of levels to conquer. Everyone else should tread carefully.
-
Sep 7, 2015It's a game for pure fans of the brand, who will enjoy the genre hybridisation. Everyone else will have a very hard time getting up to speed with the story and gameplay.
-
Sep 1, 2015Yes. Hollow Fragment renews and arrives to the PS4, polishing several details (such as resolution). Its a great option for Sword Art Online fans.
-
Aug 26, 2015Sword Art Online finally comes to consoles and it brings along everything that was on the portable versions of the game and plenty of extras.
-
Aug 24, 2015For the most part the story elements are deftly handled and Sword Art Online Re: Hollow Fragment offers up a solid RPG experience at a budget price.
-
Aug 17, 2015Even though there is very little that has changed since the Hollow Fragment Vita release, the multiplayer aspect definitely adds to the game experience and makes it feel slightly more like the MMO depicted in the series.
-
Aug 17, 2015The game itself isn't an especially memorable one, but for fans of the anime, this version at least does them justice.
-
Aug 13, 2015Outside of the shoddy camera and twitchy control, the rest of the game’s pacing, design, and over-indulged sense of immersion steer it down paths only the biggest of fans might enjoy.
-
Aug 11, 2015A not very solid port for PS4 of a sweet and fun PS Vita Action RPG. Better visuals but FPS issues not found in the original.
-
Aug 10, 2015Despite several unnecessarily daft design choices, jumping into the shoes of Kirito can be a lot of fun, and for the game's budget price, it's easy to recommend to anyone who's up for a spot of anime adventure.
-
Aug 23, 2015Undoubtedly a niche product, Sword Art Online RE: Hollow Fragment is perfect for cosplayers and hardcore fans of Reki Kawahara's novels, but it won't probably be remembered for being a great dungeon crawler.
-
Aug 14, 2015This game would definitely benefit from some further polish, but I found a fairly addictive adventure/RPG game beneath its imperfections.
-
Aug 12, 2015As usual, this is the best choice if you haven't played the game yet. It still has some flaws, but the amount of content SAO delivers is incredibly large that if you like the concept it will be definitely worth your money.
-
Oct 28, 2015Repetitive and with a weak story, Hollow Fragment is not that great of a game, even if fans of the anime will still like it. The budget price helps it getting passing grades.
-
Aug 13, 2015I was glad to see that SAO:HF was able to put forth a more earnest effort with its improved translation and gameplay tweaks but when it’s all said and done, it’s still not a particularly good game.
-
Jan 21, 2016Sword Art Online - Re: Hollow Fragment is definitely for the fans, especially since it makes no real effort to ease newcomers into the world.
-
Oct 12, 2015Sword Art Online RE: Hollow Fragment is a simple porting with no big efforts from Bandai Namco. Its only extra value is the brand new English translation, which works much better than the previous one (probably powered by Google Translate). The frame rate issues during the city sessions are quite a bad news, but the game is still entertaining.
-
Aug 17, 2015While Sword Art Online Re: Hollow Fragment is an enjoyable budget release that offers hours of anime adventuring, it’s tainted by inexplicable performance issues that simply shouldn’t have made it to the PS4 edition of the game.
-
Aug 13, 2015The continuous remakes have hackneyed the original PSP idea. It seems old, it feels old and it still has technical issues, despite its humble origins.
-
Aug 13, 2015A true lack of visual improvements makes the Vita-to-PS4 transition ultimately appear underwhelming, but those desperate for more adventures with Kirito no doubt enjoy running around the colourful world of Aincrad – so long as they employ patience while getting to grips with the combat system.
-
Aug 4, 2015Despite the major frame-rate drops and the repetitive quests and gameplay, Sword Art Online Re: Hollow Fragment is fairly entertaining, thanks to a fast-paced combat system and a large amount of weapons and skills to pick from.
-
Sep 3, 2015Re: Hollow Fragment is an appropriate title for yet another shallow licensed game.
-
Aug 13, 2015Sword Art Online Re: Hollow Fragment is entirely average, which is frustrating because there are elements of greatness sprinkled throughout its somewhat mess of a product.
-
Aug 7, 2015A game largely ingrained in its source material, Sword Art Online Re: Hollow Fragment features a strong combat system and a ton of content at a bargain price, but the perplexing character creator and other flaws may ruin it for those that are not already fans of the franchise.
-
Aug 6, 2015There's a ton of content to be found in Sword Art Online Re: Hollow Fragment, but unfortunately, its portable roots hold it back.
-
Oct 16, 2015At the end of the day, Re: Hollow Fragment is lazy in every sense of the word, and just isn't worth the dollars that Bandai Namco is asking for.
