In terms of content, Lost Song doesn't have as much to offer as Hollow Fragment (Which also means a smaller world than Aincrad). But where Lost Song lacks in content, it makes up in other things. For one, graphics have been significantly improved. Movement is much more fluid and the game doesn't suffer from some of the lag issues present in the previous game. Silica... Argo... Yes... Just yes) The story is pretty good and the dialogue offers some witty humor at times. The battle mechanics are a bit more polished, as there is not a ton of stuff cluttering the screen and again... No lag. The most annoying part of the game are fighting aerial battles, which can be disorienting (I guess they were trying to make it realistic, hehe) Overall, it's a great game for SAO fans, and if you enjoyed Hollow Fragment, then you will certainly enjoy this one. I played Hollow Fragment too. This game makes much more fun. Also the graphics is quite good. It is one of the better PS4 role playing games, I have played so far. 9 Points from me.

This game plays MUCH better than Hollow Fragment. The PS4 version looks absolutely stunning. You can now play as any of the main characters and you can also have 2 people in your party all the time! This game is a huge improvement over the first and I can easily recommend it to any SAO fan out there!

As an RPG, it's not that good, at all, so don't bother if an RPG is what you are looking for. However, as a SAO game, it's great. There is a lot of area where this game could improve, but if you are getting this game because it's an SAO game, you are not going to be disappointed.

You don't need to be an SAO fan to like this game. As for me I have never watched the anime and still liked the characters and the world around it. You don't need to know much about the anime to know what's going on so don't let that scare you off.

As for the game itself it's a fun action rpg. With a lot of playable characters. You can also make your own character but the customization is non-existent as all customisable parts have only 2 options. Like 2 different hairstyles, colors and skin colors. The standard cast is way more love-able and interesting then the created characters and with only 3 party slots you'll have a hard time picking just 3 characters out of the 15+ characters.

The gameplay is very basic square is light attack, triangle strong, a dash and a jump button. So after a while it might get repetitive. And what keeps the gameplay less repetitive are the skills as you'll lvl up you'll learn skills as most rpg's. Flying is nicely implemented to the battles and just freely flying over the worlds trying to discover secrets is a fun experience.

Story-wise the game is 20-25 hours long which sadly isn't so long. And the enemies get rehashed a lot just reskinned versions of earlier encountered monsters. And the worlds aren't that filled with secrets or treasures which doesn't reward exploring. The online mode where you can do extra quests together are filled with trolls doing nothing letting you clear everything so finding a good party is rare.

These last few points can really make or break the fun you have in the game. As for me I had a lot of fun with the fluid battles and interesting story. You really care about the characters and that's something you don't see so often.

Not a perfect RPG, but is a perfect Fan Service with great moments and a lot of fun and interesting challenges. The chances for the next game to be perfect for fans is too high. "Lost Song" and "Hollow Fragment" are two great games, perfect or not, deserv our buy. Thanks to Sony, the Playstation family is a perfect plataform for the JRPGs and similars.

Sword Art Online: Lost Song is an original game with an innovative 3D aerial combat system, excellent graphics and good solid storyline. While clearly intended for Sword Art Online fans, I would recommend to non-fans if only to experience the gameplay and breath-takingly liberating flight systems. While clearly intended for Sword Art Online fans, I would recommend to non-fans if only to experience the gameplay and breath-takingly liberating flight systems. There really aren't any similar games to this out there - the aerial combat is truly amazing and the real selling point of the game, despite the associated controls being quite difficult to get to grips with. The only downfall for me (putting it down from a 10 to a 9) was the lack of English voice acting in the game, meaning subtitles are expected to be read during combat, which is often just impossible. Given that the anime has an excellent cast of English-speaking actors, and that most other popular JRPG's use English voice actors, the decision to be Japanese-only feels like a way to save on development costs.

Definitely recommended for any PS4 owner or SAO fan - certainly a reason to buy a PS4 in the first place!

It doesn’t do anything interesting to make itself stand out, so I would advise anyone who values their time and money to stay away.

To see such frustrating limitations enforced upon what could have been a defiantly meaty JRPG world is a deal-breaking shame. [Jan 2016, p.81]

Much more than a graphical upgrade to the Sword Art Online universe, but not the leap forwards it appears at first.
