Despite looking like Wipeout it is a racer where you switch tracks to avoid obstacles and gain speed by hitting ramps. The excellent original Playstation Mobile was a fast game where you tried to beat certain times to progress. For some reason they ruined the game by making progression by gathering orbs from this inexplicable horrible free 3D sections that occur mid way through a level.Despite looking like Wipeout it is a racer where you switch tracks to avoid obstacles and gain speed by hitting ramps. The excellent original Playstation Mobile was a fast game where you tried to beat certain times to progress. For some reason they ruined the game by making progression by gathering orbs from this inexplicable horrible free 3D sections that occur mid way through a level. You then lose and orb if you hit an obstacle. Until the mid section of the game where you gain orbs it really doesn't matter what you are doing as long as you don't die. Also the game seems about half as fast as the original and it makes it really boring. They added a lot of story and narration that nobody wanted. I can't believe they screwed up this game so bad and had the gall to charge $19 for it. Expand

Literally just switch between 2-4 lanes to avoid colored sheets of glass. That's the entire game for 50 levels. Super boring and repetitive. Upgrades and different ships change nothing, as well as the few little things they add. Some parts you are going too fast and theres too much stuff and theres no way you cant get hit. Has all the variety and interesting gameplay of a flash game. OnlyLiterally just switch between 2-4 lanes to avoid colored sheets of glass. That's the entire game for 50 levels. Where some mobile games choke on the big stage, Atomicom's space racer finds new form. Surprisingly grinding after the first few stages, though. [March 2015, p.95]

Switch Galaxy Ultra is a fun game to play in small bursts. When you are whizzing through the tracks at great speed it is exhilarating. However, it loses its focus when it adds gameplay barriers that detract from the quick paced nature of the game.

Even a couple of odd design decisions don't get in the way of the high-octane thrills here, thankfully. [Issue#253, p.70]
